The built-in shock absorbers on these 4 ratcheting straps compensate for the movement of your motorcycle's suspension so that each strap stays tight around the bike, even on rough roads. Soft ties won't scratch your bike. 3,000-lb Max load.

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 1-1/2" wide x 7' long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 1,000 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 3,000 lbs
  • Quantity: 4 ratchet straps
  • 2-Year warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

ShockStrap Motorcycle Tie-Down Kit

Motorcycle tied down using 1.5-inch ratchet ShockStrap tie-downs

This tie-down kit is perfect for strapping down your motorcycle. It includes 4 ratchet straps with built-in shocks to keep the straps tight around your bike so that you won't have to stop and tighten them while traveling.

Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, these tie-downs are uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the straps to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. These are great for motorcycles, which have bouncing suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.

Built-In Shocks

The webbing of standard straps can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your bike as it shifts.

Close of up the 2-inch ratchet ShockStrap tie-downs

But these ratchet straps each feature 2 built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-downs stay taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks help to keep the tie-down from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged toys.

In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. The constant compressing and rebounding of your bike's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shocks absorb these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-downs stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

Close-up of open ShockStrap ratchet

Each tie-down features a commercial-grade, field-replaceable ratchet that is easy to use. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap Motorcycle Tie-Down System

Once your motorcycle is in your truck bed or on your trailer, place the front tire of the bike in a wheel chock (sold separately). Placing your toy in a wheel chock helps to hold the bike in position during travel.

Each strap has soft loops built in so that you can tie down your bike without having to worry about the metal hooks or hardware of the straps potentially scratching or scuffing it. To use the soft loops, simply cinch the strap around a secure location on the bike, and run the tie-down's hook through the loop.

There are 4 straps included in this kit - 2 for use on the front of your bike and 2 for use on the rear. Each of the straps should be wrapped around a sturdy part of your bike. At the front, this area would typically be the base of the handlebars or the lower triple clamp. At the rear, you can connect the straps to accessible points on the frame. When you attach the tie-down straps to your truck or trailer, be sure to anchor them so that the bike is pulled down at all 4 corners. Your bike should be upright, not slanted. And the straps should be angled anywhere from 10 degrees to 60 degrees as they stretch from the bike to the anchor points.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing and activate the shocks. To tighten each strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut. Tightening the straps will also compress the bike's suspension just enough to maintain tension when you hit bumps on the road. You'll want to compress the suspension about halfway. The tension should be even on both sides to prevent sway and bouncing. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

Next, you'll want to activate the shocks. To do this, just tighten the straps a bit more, stretching the shocks until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Once the straps have been tightened and the shocks have been activated, just make sure your motorcycle is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of these tie-down straps has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks also function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

Each ratchet strap also features a Grade 8 bolt and nylock nut. The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the buckle and the hooks holds up to the roughest weather conditions. The oversized, 3/8" hooks also feature a protective rubber coating to prevent damaging your bike, truck, or trailer while in transit.

A safety strap is also built into each tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shock. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-downs are used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your bike will remain secured.

These tie down straps are the best! Trailered my Harley long distances with no issues. Feel very secure using these. 100% recommend!

by:

I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.

This review is more of etrailer not a product. Ordered these tiedowns for a birthday gift. Website indicated delivery in 4 to 5 days. They didn’t even ship for nearly a week, birthday came and went its need 12 days since ordering and still have not received the item. If you really want these tiedowns, find them somewhere else other than etrailer.

by:

WELL MADE HEAVY DUTY, WISH THEY HAD THE CARRY BAG

by:

Best tie downs I ever had. Never felt comfortable hauling my full size Ktm, my dirt bikes or Atv’s long distances until I got these. Build quality is outstanding and if you take care of them, they are probably the last tie downs you’ll ever buy. The rubber shock absorbers really work well, especially on dirt roads. For peace-of-mind when hauling, you need these. Spend the money once- all those cheap straps that last only a year or two add up.

by:

Nothing better in my experience. I've hauled motorcycles for 20+ years with all kinds of tie downs in trucks, vans, trailers and toy haulers. These straps are the best I've used. In march, used my trailer with locking front wheel chock to carry a 400+ pound bike over 2000 miles. Checked them for tightness at 100 miles and could not believe they did not need a little adjustment. Never tightened them once in the whole trip.

by:

Extremely high quality tie down straps. They work especially well with larger off road machines that have big suspension set ups. Spend the extra money on these straps because you get what you pay for.

by:

Quality of product is fantastic. My only issue with these is that the portion with the ratchet handle is so long, that the handle makes contact with bikes with large fairings while ratcheting (in my case, a BMW R1200RT). This makes it physically impossible to release tension by fully extending the handle.

Ratchet side measures approximately 25.5 inches, with 2 inches of slack for the spring, when measured from the s-hook to the fully extended handle.

by:

I use these straps to secure my motorcycle, and my ATV to a flatbed trailer. They are easy to use, and work great for worry free transporting. I would rather use these instead of regular straps.

by:

High Quality and heavy duty! These shockstraps are amazing.
From West by God Virginia to Georgia, bike held very well!

by:

I use the Shockstraps to tie down my Harley Roadglide in my toy hauler, straps work excellent!

by:

These straps are great,I towed my HD on my trailer for 2 hours, stopped every half hr out of habit,my old straps I would of had to make adjustments, shock straps np

by:

Knowledgeable staff helped me make the right decision

by:

I could not be happier with these straps! I used them to move my motorcycles 1,800 miles and they were solid as a rock the whole time. I cannot recommend them enough!

by:

Best money I ever spent on straps. Keep my Ultra Limited safe no lose straps. WOuld say BUY THEM NOW !!!!

by:

Good quality, good construction. Can't wait to use them.

Still work great. I continue to use them regularly. My first trip with them was a 5000 mile cross country trip. Since then Ive done another 2,500 mile trip along with several other smaller trips. I probably have about 10,000 miles on the straps never an issue loosening up.

by:

Only used once so far but straps worked great.

by:

Good-looking product playing on trailer in my motorcycle to Sturgis we'll see if it works

by:

Very well made straps

by:

Although I have not used the straps yet, I am very happy with the quality of them. I installed the Jack stand yesterday, nice quality, the double wheels make it easy to maneuver the trailer around. Thank you!

by:

Really pleased with the quality of these. The integrated loops are nice, though may be a bit long for some applications. Be careful on the loops - they can still be cut by edges on things. Overall very happy with the straps.

by:

Thank you Crissy. Nice job. Yes, received the reship item yesterday.

  • Anchoring E-Track On Floor Of Van For Transporting a Motorcycle
To secure the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM59150 you need to use the E-Track Backing Plates # e66RR to secure them to the floor. The screws can easily pull out of the plywood especially considering your van will be absorbing a lot of road shock. You will want to ensure that the plywood is also secured to the floor either with the backing plates or in another similar manner. This will ensure that your Harley stays secured to the floor and will not move. I recommend using the Erickson...
