Video Transcript for CIPA Clamp On Universal Fit Towing Mirror Installation - 2016 Kia Sorento

Today on our 2016 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at the Cipa Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 7070. Here I am at the back of my trailer and you can clearly see me in our factory mirror. But if I step out to the outside, you lose sight of me in the factory mirror, but you can clearly see me in our towing mirror. Now this is going to come in handy when you're towing a trailer, you need to change lanes, back up, or even park at a campsite or anything like that. Here's what our towing mirror looks like fully installed, and we're actually going to have full adjustment of our towing mirror here. You can adjust up and down, as well as side to side, and if you need a more wide angle, you can actually turn the mirror and get a wider angle like this. Now even with our towing mirror installed, we're still going to retain all movement of our factory mirror, being able to tilt it up and down, as well as side to side, and diagonally. Now even with our towing mirror on, we're still going to be able to use and retain our factory turn signal in our mirror. The one thing we are going to lose if we leave our towing mirror on, is we're not going to be able to fold our factory mirror in all the way, because it is going to make contact on the towing mirror against the door. This is a tool-free design when installing it.

It's going to have two rubber straps, so we're not going to have to worry about any abrasion or any scratches on our paint. Now this is a universal mirror, so it's going to be great if you tow with several different vehicles, or if you just don't want to have a dedicated towing mirror on your mirror at all times. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let me show you just how easy it is to install it. So here we have our towing mirror on our driver side, and if we look, we're going to have four small tabs, now these tabs are going to fit in between our factory glass and our mirror housing. Then we're going to bring our straps up and around, and we're going to hook it on top. And now we're ready to tow. That'll finish up our look at the Cipa Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 7070, on our 2016 Kia Sorento..

My order came today just when I was told it would be delivered. I bought a tow mirror and "L" bracketts for a Husky trailer hitch. I have already installed the replacement bracket and tow mirror. I can always ( so far) find what I need at etrailer. 644740

While this product might work great for some people, it did not work well for me. I drive a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Cipa Universal Clip-On mirrors attached fine and were tight. However, while towing the extension mirrors would vibrate to the point that they were irritating to look at and were basically unusable. So mid trip I took them off and never used them again. I am not sure if it is just the aerodynamics of my vehicle or if this is a common problem with all extension mirrors. 650518

Could be a little bigger. Does the job and good price. Quick to install. No instructions but you'll figure it out unless you are a moron. Loosen all the screws just a bit. Get the mirrors perfect then tighten the screws TIGHT. Lets me see back with the camper on waaay better. 309885

Could not find anything specific for my Ford Ranger, so these were as close to working as possible. Tried one on and seems like they will work. Website great, service great, fast shipping with regular $.$$ rate. Highly recommend 334060

Adequate attachments; however, factory mounted extended mirrors would probably be better (as they'd more likely be more secure when driving). Take caution that the elastic straps are secure, they may slip a little and be readjusted. A disadvantage for attaching to the passenger side is the hooks are needed to be secured on the bottom, which seems to contribute to that side mirror's strap slipping more-so than the driver's side. 441485

first, let me say that this does fit my 2007 jeep grand Cherokee but the mirror itself is rather small and doesn't help a whole lot. Still, every little bit of added vision is far safer than none at all and I do not regret my decision to purchase a pair of these mirrors. 256794

these mirrors do not make noise while driving but I found they really do not stick out far enough to be very helpful while towing my particular trailer...still, they have held up well

The box just arrived and was crushed badly, luckily the mirrors were not cracked. I have not put them on yet so I haven't tested them out, but I was just camping and another camper also had this set and he said they worked well....so I think they will be fine. BTW, I bought these instead of an observation camera as 50% of the camera folks said they did not like using and "trusting" the camera.....I figured these mirrors would help me change lanes well enough and they are a lot cheaper than a camera!!!!! 522013

This mirror was absolutely useless. It is the wrong style mirror to use for towing as it zooms in on what you are looking at. Instead of being able to see what is going on around your trailer, this mirror zooms in to a 4ftx4ft area and doesn't let you see anything at all. It ended up being more of a distraction when I would look to my mirrors to make a lane change and see a zoomed in picture of the side of the road. I took it off after 400 miles into our 2000 mile trip and tossed it in the back of the car. 51439

by:

Great for the money! They work fine for me. I think if you have a harsh riding truck they may vibrate some. 645

- 7070
by:

Ok for occasional use I've had a set for less than a year, used once last year, and about three times this year. They vibrate quite a lot and don't hold on as well as I would like. The rubber straps are starting to crack. Large mirror area is a plus. If you are only using them occasionally, they are good. If you are using them more often and leaving them on the vehicle for more than a day or so (i.e. long road trips), look for something a bit more robust. 2056

Thumbs up on the tow mirror. Your website indicated the mirror was compatible with my 2015 Ram truck and it fits perfectly!!! Delivered in about 5 days with nominal shipping charge. I've made several purchases from Etrailer. Excellent service at a good price!! Thanks, Larry M 365267

Not for 2015 Highlander. These seem like nice mirrors and I wish I could use them but in my opinion, they do not work for a 2015 Toyota Highlander. I bought them based on an answered question that they would work. Three (or two) major problems. First the shape of the Highlander mirror is such that the thickest part is closest to the car and it gets progressively more narrow towards the outer end. That means there is nothing to keep the straps from sliding off - it might be OK for short distances. It needs some kind of keeper system. Second, the strap is only just barely long enough to engage the buckle at the fattest part of the mirror. There is not enough through the buckle to stop it from slipping out. A longer strap would work here. Third, part of the highlander mirror is very close to the edge of the housing - I can't confirm if that is really a problem and it might depend on how the individual driver adjusts the mirror. I never really got one attached well enough that I would trust driving with it. I have found no other alternative mirrors that work. 206897

- 7070
by:

the mirrors look good. The weather is so bad I can't try them yet, but hey look as if they will work out ok because they are larger and positioned closer to the factory mirrors thus avoiding confusion between using two mirrors while towing . 465592

East to install, straps just fit my suv mirrors, stayed put, only little jiggles. Re past comment: backing up mirrors tilt down (read instr manual) can turn feature off! My experience was easy, of quality and helped my travel a lot. Shipping was quick! Thank you etrailer! 383893

The Clip-On Towing Mirror provides safety and convenience. When we are lucky enough to get away, this great invention supplies safety while towing our R-Pod. And the rest of the time the Highlander doesn't have an appendage that presents a problem in everyday driving (crowded parking places, etc.). 361314

Helped, not as much as I thought, but this being the first trailer, may have to fiddle with them to find the right spot. Thanks for getting them to me, they came in the day we went to close the deal and pick it up. Will certainly be back for additional equipment. 514388

I had read the mixed reviews about this mirror, took my chances and bought a pair of them. The one I placed on the driver's side was fine; the one on the passenger side, however, was magnified almost to the point of being useless (one of the reviewers from Aug 2012 mentioned this). I thought the passenger side one was defective and was about to call etrailer. But then I decided to try them on both sides, and lo and behold the one on the driver's side was normal and the one on the passenger side was over-magnified. So it would seem that the farther you get from this mirror the more magnification you get. They vibrated quite a bit at highway speed but not intolerably so. etrailer has always been great with speedy delivery with no mistakes on my orders, and I don't fault them, but this is a product I think they should consider discontinuing -- unless, of course, all clip-on mirrors also have this magnification problem. I don't have anything to compare them with. 395261

After a year and about 5000 miles of towing my travel trailer, these mirrors are still in good shape, they have never come loose. They strap onto my 2017 Silverado without any problem, but on the drivers side the built-in convex mirror gets mostly covered up, an inconvenience but not a deal breaker. They are still intact despite the extreme shaking, which is something you have to deal with and remember their most basic function: to see if there is traffic in the next lane. Dont expect them to be stable like your stock mirrors. For the price they are a good deal.

Thanks for the follow up, I have provided a link to our custom fit towing mirrors that we currently offer for your 2017 Chevy Silverado. Since your existing mirrors are a universal mirror option, covering the OEM convex portion is an understandable concern. However, a custom fit towing mirror will not cause any obstruction on your OEM mirrors, and will be more secure since they are a custom fit to the profile of your truck mirrors.

The mirrors are good but on the outside mirrors of a 2010 Chrysler T&C van, the outside strap is hard to keep adjusted tight. Mine haven't slipped to the point of coming off but you can't rely on the previous adjusted positiion as we have other Morris in the past. Mirror loss has to be constantly in your mind. I'll use them until I find better. Thanks. 485765

This was purchased for a Dodge 3500 pickup to extend past the sides of my camper. I was told that this was the only mirror that would work on a 3500. The mirror is held in place by two rubber straps which were rather short and required taping of the ends to keep them from popping off. They only extend to mirror about two inches. The service and delivery time From E-Trailer has always been great!! 224111

These mirrors are electric and heated, but, if your truck had additional functions on the factory mirrors like turn signals, automatic dim, memory settings, or puddle lights, those features will be lost on the replacement mirrors. A couple of universal towing mirrors we have received good feedback on is the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror, part # 7070, and the #11953. Both of these...

  • Will CIPA Clip-On towing Mirror Interfere With Turn Signal On 2005 GMC Envoy
  • I have attached a photo that shows how the straps that secure the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror, part # 7070 to the vehicle mirror. As you can see, the straps do run from the upper clips to the lower clips and may block some of the turn signal lights you said you have on your mirror. Most of the universal towing mirrors we offer have straps that are attached in a similar fashion. One alternative is the Wheel Masters Eagle Vision Extendable Towing Mirror, part # WM6600. Although not...

  • Towing Mirror Options for 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • A universal-fit style of towing mirror, like CIPA # 7070, is a great option for vehicles like your 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer for which custom-fit towing mirrors are not offered. These clip-on mirrors will fit on almost any OEM mirror that has a gap between the outer housing and the actual glass surface, as shown in the linked installation video. Note this is sold as a single piece, not a pair. If you want an even wider field of view you might consider a door-mount mirror # 11650. These...

  • For your vehicle I have a couple of towing mirror recommendations, but the Longview Custom Slide On Towing Mirrors, part # CTM400, will not work on your 2005 Toyota 4Runner. The mirrors have a different outer construction that prohibits the use of the slide on towing mirror, part # CTM400. The Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror, part # 7070, is easy to install and remove, once the initial setup is done. I am including a link to a video review on this strap-on mirror. Another towing...
