Loctite Lubricants Sealants Adhesives - LT37423

  • Nut and Bolt Sealant
  • Sealant
  • 0.2 oz
  • Loctite

This threadlocker uses a thin liquid formula to wick into the threads of pre-assembled applications, preventing treated screws, nuts and bolts from loosening. Requires heat for disassembly.

Features:

  • Thin liquid threadlocker penetrates pre-assembled applications to keep nuts and bolts from loosening
  • Treated threads resist corrosion
  • Assembled parts require heat to be disassembled with hand tools
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: #2 to 1/2" (2.2-mm to 12-mm) nuts and bolts
  • Quantity: 0.20-fl oz tube (6 mL)
  • Fixture cure (time required to become tacky): 6 minutes
  • Full cure (time required to reach full set): 24 hours
  • Temperature range (endurance limits of threadlocker): -65 F to 300 F

Applications: Alternator bolts, distributor clamps and carburetor adjustment screws

The shaded areas in these diagrams indicate where this threadlocker is applied in a variety of threaded assemblies:

Applied to the threads of pre-assembled parts, this threadlocker seeps into the connections, where it hardens and keeps treated parts securely tightened, even when vibration occurs. Threadlocker also seals out air, water and grime to prevent rust or other corrosion from forming. Nuts and bolts that aren't corroded last longer and can be taken apart more easily.

This threadlocker requires heat for disassembly. (Five minutes' application of a standard soldering iron to small parts will provide enough heat; bigger parts may require a torch.) Disassemble while parts are still hot.

These diagrams illustrate the application of heat to loosen this threadlocker for disassembly of the parts:

This threadlocker is anaerobic (hardens in the absence of air) and requires contact with an active metal to cure. Active metals (those that tarnish, corrode or rust) include brass, copper, bronze, iron, soft steel and nickel. If both parts to be joined are made of inactive materials, Loctite Klean 'N Prime primer must be applied to one of the surfaces for curing to occur. Inactive materials include plated parts, stainless steel, galvanized steel, magnetite steel, pure aluminum, titanium, magnesium, gold, silver, plastic, cadmium, Iconel, zinc, natural or chemical black oxide and anodized aluminum.

Klean 'N Prime can speed the cure rate of Threadlocker 290. This is especially helpful when you are applying the adhesive to any material, active or inactive, in colder temperatures (below 70 F). Using Klean 'N Prime primer with Threadlocker 290 requires that the parts first be treated with the primer, then assembled and adjusted, and finally, treated with the threadlocker.

I had a broken espresso machine, the water heater had a pinhole. I didn't believe this would work but it did. One drop of Loctite 290 on the pinhole, a little heat, and presto! Who knew?

Oh a few shots of espresso right now sounds lovely, Clyde. I'm so glad this helped you get back to enjoying the great go-go juice. I have to ask, latte or cappuccino?

Locktite makes very good products, and this is another one. Used for fasteners that are already assembled/torqued and it wicks into place. E-Trailer completed the order process and delivered the product as expected, so well-done to them.

Product worked great. Used it on a sun visor that would no longer stay up. Worked perfectly, would recommend for anyone.

Good price, fast shipping, fair postage....... What else could you ask for?

Its a good product, although it does tend to harden in the tube which is agrivating. If locktite cant correct the chemistry they could consider marketing it in single use capsules.

  • What is Fulton Lock # FSTL0603 Made Of and How To Prevent Theft of Fulton Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301
Yes , the Fulton Spare Tire Lock, part # FSTL0603, is made of a hardened steel, which is very hard to cut or break. You can install the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier, part # FSTC1000301, using a Loctite Threadlocker, part # LT37423. This is a liquid that will lock the nuts to the bolts and prevent anybody from removing them. To disassemble the nuts and bolts will require the use of heat. Making it time consuming for the thieves to take your item is the best deterrent against theft.

  • Should Lock Washer be Used for Factory 12x2 Brake Assemblies
Not necessarily. Some brake assemblies have Loctite like part # LT37423 on the bolts while other assemblies, like part # AKEBRK-7L-SA, require mounting hardware that includes lock nuts like what you would find in the kit # BRKH12S. If your brakes have Loctite on the mounting bolts then you don't really have to worry about the lock nuts on them.
