When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. Today, we're going to take a look at the JR Products 20-inch long gas shock. Now, this gas shock is designed to replace a worn or damaged shock on your RV entry door or storage doors. The extended length on this, which is measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one, is 20 inches. And I'll just show you, we'll put a tape measure on that, center to center, and there's your 20-inch measurement. The compressed length, if this was compressed all the way, would be 11.41 inches. The output force on this shock is 30 pounds and the connection type is a retaining clip on a 10-millimeter ball socket.I just want to zoom in to show you how that would install, but on this connection, if you'll notice, here's your 10-millimeter ball socket, and on top of it is the retaining clip.
So, what you would do is take a flat tip screwdriver and slide it up under that retaining clip, pry it open to release it, and then that'll snap right onto your 10-millimeter ball. Once it's on the ball, you just push that clip back down and it'll secure it in place. So, very simple installation.Also, the finish on this shock is a nice black nitride finish, but that should do it for the review on the JR Products 20-inch long gas shock..

Great fast delivery and your description and how to videos are the best for the DIY people. The 30 lb gas shock was for a replacement on my RV entry door. It had a 20 lb force shock but when the door was open and if the wind was blowing hard it would blow the door half way shut and then the door would slam back open which then would pull hard on the mount bracket and eventually it would pull the rivets out that was holding it on.

Shipped and arrived quickly, worked perfectly for my camp trailer galley door. Instructions for installation were really sparse, perhaps due to multiple applications of this product. Wished they came pre packaged with mounts instead of purchasing separately.

not happy with this transaction , salesman sold me the wrong door closer then they charged shipping to return , shipping by the way took 8 days , then they sent the right closer but another 9 days again for shipping , this whole ordeal took close to a month, next time i will go direct to the manufactor .

I was extremely happy with my experience with eTrailer, especially the customer service. I had to return my first order because of my own mistake and while it did take a while to get someone on the phone, they were extremely helpful. Both orders arrived sooner than expected. The gas springs were for a engine hatch on a boat. It took like 5 minutes to install them and they are working like a charm. If you have a heavier hatch you might consider stiffer springs than the 20 lb ones. I would definitely order from this company again.

The strut was packaged well and fit right on. The assist worked well as it's lifting a large steel hood on a piece of airport equipment. I can't give it a 5 star as we'll have to see how long it lasts, but I'm happy with the purchase thus far.

- How is the Weight Rating for the JR Products Gas Shocks # 372-5300-30 RatedEach of these gas shocks are rated for use individually and not in pairs so the part # 372-5300-30 with it's 30 lbs rating would be how much it could lift by itself. So a pair of these would cover your 60 lb trunk lid. Now with that said your easiest replacement solution would probably be to find a car parts shop that can order you in the exact shock you'd need.
