When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a quick look at the gas shock. This is going to have 80 pounds of force to help lift your RV entry door or your storage door, so it's going to keep that door from just slamming closed. It helps to lift it up so you don't have to and should be a direct replacement for any gas shock that might have busted on you or gotten bent somewhere along the way. The compressed length is going to be about 11 1/2 inches long, so 11.41 according to their measurements. The total length whenever we have at extended is about 20 inches, so that's going from where it mounts here, so about there to there, it's about 20 inches. So if we go from that same sort of spot, our compressed length will be about like that.
Again, the force is going to be 80 pounds. It comes in black nitride, it's the color there. So hopefully this is going to be the part that you need to replace that gas shock. The strut was packaged well and fit right on. The assist worked well as it's lifting a large steel hood on a piece of airport equipment. I can't give it a 5 star as we'll have to see how long it lasts, but I'm happy with the purchase thus far.

Great fast delivery and your description and how to videos are the best for the DIY people. The 30 lb gas shock was for a replacement on my RV entry door. It had a 20 lb force shock but when the door was open and if the wind was blowing hard it would blow the door half way shut and then the door would slam back open which then would pull hard on the mount bracket and eventually it would pull the rivets out that was holding it on.

not happy with this transaction , salesman sold me the wrong door closer then they charged shipping to return , shipping by the way took 8 days , then they sent the right closer but another 9 days again for shipping , this whole ordeal took close to a month, next time i will go direct to the manufactor .

I was extremely happy with my experience with eTrailer, especially the customer service. I had to return my first order because of my own mistake and while it did take a while to get someone on the phone, they were extremely helpful. Both orders arrived sooner than expected. The gas springs were for a engine hatch on a boat. It took like 5 minutes to install them and they are working like a charm. If you have a heavier hatch you might consider stiffer springs than the 20 lb ones. I would definitely order from this company again.
