My only complaint about theproduct is the instructions were difficult to follow. Probably because of the many different applications it’s used for, but still think they were written poorly or confusing. etrailer was 5 star to do business with. Very rare in todays proprietorships.
Great product. And just to be clear though it’s not meant to really slow down the speed at which the tailgate drops. It does slow down the speed just it bit so it doesn’t slam open. What this product does quite well is make the tail gate feel extremely light. This product was installed on an 04 Silverado with a tailgate that weights about 40 LBS. After installing the Hopkins EZ lift, tailgate feels like it weighs 10lbs. The instructions could have been better detailed but if you take your time and measure twice and drill once install is a breeze. Two holes about 3/8 of inch need to be drilled. One on the bed and one on the tailgate.
After one year of constant use my Hopkins EasyLift Tailgate lift assist workers excellent without any complications. I would recommend this Lift Assist to anyone looking to purchase one.
The product arrived faster than I expected. Really wasn’t very difficult to understand the installation instructions. Worked exactly like it was advertised and fit without any problems on my 2096 F250 super duty 4x4 with no issues. And yes it is much easier to install with two men instead of one . I am 69 years old and this the best tailgate upgrade I have ever purchased. Will be buying one for my F250 Lariot and my F350 crew cab . Love it . Finally don’t feel like I have been to the gym each time I lift the tailgate . Thanks etrailer for your help and product .
Nice addition for my truck. Works well. Makes it so much easier when opening and closing the tailgate. Good deal for the price.
Works very well. I purchased this because im getting older and i still open and close my tailgate regularly at my job. This thing is great.

Same as the day I first installed it.
Easy to install, can now raise and lower tailgate with 2 fingers. 2012 Chevy Silverado
There is no attachment point for the bottom of the tailgate lift ass'y. Very poor engineering.
I would not have believed it but this thing really works. It took off at least half the weight and now I can shut my tailgate with one hand!!
Love it. I have one on a 2006 and 2007 Dodge 2500 and it makes the tailgate so much easier to open and close.
Just put this on a 2007 Ford that has a heavy tailgate for a 76 year old woman. She hasn’t been able to use her tailgate for more than a year, it’s just too heavy to open and close. Works so well, had her test it and she is smiling. Did not take long to install but definitely need a helper for the install. Excellent product.

wish i would have gotten one years ago.
The easy lift is every thing they say it is. I have a 97 3500 chevy truck,it was easy to install and the box contains ever thing you need to make clean install.Just follow the instructions.
I'm well pleased with the Hopkins EasyLift. Installed and working as expected.

Still working as expected. No problems. Have shown it to others.
The EasyLift truck bed tailgate lift assist works amazingly well at reducing the effort needed to open and close the truck tailgate. I would recommend an assistant to help with reinstalling the tailgate after removing and drilling the necessary hole. Rod placement and alignment are difficult to accomplish alone. Future tailgate removal and reinstallation will also be much more difficult without assistance.
I have a 96 f150. I am not kidding. It turned my 100 pound tailgate into a feather.

After a year of having this installed the company reached out to ask me how it’s working. I have no complaints and have never been happier with my tailgate. My wife used to ask me to lift the gate for her but now she lifts it with one hand easily. I can lift it with my strongest finger. The middle one.

Works great, easy enough to install if you're brave enough to drill into the bed/tailgate of your truck.
Tailgate can be lifted and lowered with a single finger.
You'll need a friend to help you put the tailgate back on.
Follow the layout instructions, use the template guide, and put anti-seize on the holes you drilled!

Very satisfied with the product. I have s 2004 F250 SuperDuty and the tailgate is extremely heavy. The Hopkins Easylift has made our tailgate much easier to open and close. Thank you.
I had my doubts but it works great on my 2006 Toyota Tundra. It opens and closes with just two fingers. The assembly does require two people install thou.

Still working great even after 1 year of using it!
The instructions were very detailed and made it easy. Be sure to have another strong person to help with lifting the tailgate, especially when you need to turn it 90° to get it on the right stop of the rod. Works like a dream. Will worth the money I paid for it.

I do not typically write reviews-pro or con. This product, however, so over delivered that I felt it deserved some good attention. I had seen the other products that use a gas strut, but that only aids in lowering the tailgate and does nothing to help in lifting. Well, this product helps in both directions. I mean it REALLY helps. I can now lift the tailgate with two fingers-really, no exaggeration.
Finally, don’t be a moron like me and try to reinstall it alone. The reinstallation really is a two person job. I wish I had purchased this long ago. Get it!!
I really am quite satisfied with the tail gate helper springs. I only have one suggestion and that is on some models of Dodge Ram you may have to change the install slightly. Don,t know if I am the only one who has had this problem but for the hole drilled in the left hand hinge area , I had to lower the hole about two inches. Not a big deal but drilling at the suggested location made the spring bind with the left hand hinge. Lowering this hole took care of the problem and let me tell you this spring makes the tailgate weigh about 1 pound. I will attach pics to help explain .

Product is working great after a year. So much nicer closing the tailgate. Makes closing tailgate easy with hardly any strength to lift it.
