TracRac Base Rails

TracRac SR Sliding Rack Base Rails

The TracRac base rails provide the foundation for this unique, customizable system. No-drill, stake-pocket installation yields securely mounted rails that sit atop your factory side rails. Each rail has 2 tracks for maximum adjustability.

TracRac Sliding Rack

Because the rack section at the front of your truck bed mounts to a different T-track than the one in the rear, the sections can be moved so that they are right next to each other. The result is unobstructed access to your truck bed and improved aerodynamics when you are not using the rack.

TracRac offers accessories that are designed to mount in these tracks. Base rail tie-downs (sold separately) give you additional cargo-management options. These rustproof, aluminum tie-downs slide across the rails for optimal placement and are secured in place with the turn of a knob.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility. Like the pieces that mount in the base rails, these accessories also have quick-release knobs that let you loosen and tighten them with a mere twist of a knob so that they can be positioned as needed along the bars.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with your TracRac SR are 8 tie-down accessories. The 4 load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. These bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

TracRac ARC Side Cleats

The 4 cleats attach at any of the provided mounting points along the outsides of the upright supports so that you can tie down items that require additional anchoring or that sit in your truck bed.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The TracRac base rails and rack system, as well as most TracRac accessories, are constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof in itself, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect your rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

Video Transcript for Thule TracRac SR Sliding Ladder Rack Installation - 2019 Ford F-150

Adam: Hi everyone. Adam with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Sliding TracRac Ladder Rack System, on our 2019 Ford F-150. So what sets this ladder rack apart from most is the fact that it comes with these rails, which goes on the side of the bed of your truck, and just makes it super easy to remove. All you've got to do is just take this screw out and slide them off if you're not using them. And also, it's actually extremely easy to move.

We just undo these knobs here, and if we're not using, or hauling anything, you can slide them all the way back, so you can still have all of that capacity of the bed of your truck. If you have a fifth wheel, slide them to your cab and you can still use it.So our track here is going to be made of aluminum, so it's going to resist against rust and corrosion, and it also has a nice finish to it as well. In regards to our ladder rack, it's also going to be aluminum. It's going to have a nice finish to it as well, and it's going to get you about 1250 pounds of weight capacity. So in regards to the weight capacity, it's actually quite high compared to some of those that I've dealt with in the past.

The reason being is with this track system, it's going to be sitting more so on the meat of the top rail of the bed of your truck. Usually, some of them actually just clamp onto the inside lip of your rail. But this one, we actually have a tonneau cover on to of it. That is another plus with this ladder rack system. A lot of them you actually can't use when you have a tonneau cover installed, but this one you can, which is super, super nice, and that's pretty much what gets you that weight capacity.

It sits on the meat of the bed of your truck, just so it leaves room still for your tonneau cover.A lot of you guys are wondering how height this is going to add to your truck. So from the bottom of our track here, all the way to the top is going to be about 27 and five-sixteenths inches. From the roof of our cab, to the very top of our bar, we are going to have about five and a quarter inches of clearance. So even if you had, maybe, a kayak, or something, that has a little bit of bow down, if it doesn't exceed that measurement, you won't have any contact with the roof of your truck. And these crossbar tie-downs are also super easy to move as well.

We just our track knobs, just push it up against your ladder, tighten it down to keep it into place. Then we can go ahead and ratchet strap it down. We can utilize this, as well, to tie it down.So we can actually even use this, right here, as a tie-down point, if we would like, like that. Or if we're tying something down low, we can use that as well. A lot of options here, but for now, I'm just going to use this. So these bars are going to be about an inch and five-eighths thick, so if you have attachments that will wrap around that bar, you can use those. Also, we do have T-tracks that we can utilize as well, kayak carriers, canoe carriers. You can even do a couple of cargo baskets, maybe even one of those awnings for your vehicle, whether you're just watching your kid play baseball and you use want a little bit of shade. Literally, a lot of different stuff we have here at eTrailer that you can put on these as well, not just ladders. So, all-in-all, if you're in the market for a ladder rack, I would highly, highly suggest grabbing the kit that comes with this track here, just because it's going to give you a lot more weight capacity, super easy to move up and down, so you don't have to wrestle with it. And on top of that, you can still have your tonneau cover installed. And like we said before, you got a gooseneck, you can still use that too, just slide these on up, and use your truck how you want to.So to get our track installed, what we're going to do is we're going to have a metal plate, and then this rubber spacer here, and obviously the bolt that goes through the bottom of this. And then, also, we are going to have a little plastic washer there. Once we get all that into place, just seat it down into this little hole here, and what's going to happen is, as we tighten it, it's going to spread this rubber out, like this, and it's going to keep it nice and securely into place. It's going to be the same exact thing for the other side of this rail, and the other side of our bed here. And you do want to get a longer Allen wrench to tighten it down.So once we're done with that, we can replace, or install, our cap here. It's going to be a pretty tight fit, get a nice water seal. And then, of course, little cap that goes over the gap that we tightened down that bolt with. So now what we want to do is go ahead and grab our towers here. We are going to have two that are going to be oriented for the right side and two that will be oriented for the left side, so make sure you grab a pair. Then you can go ahead and grab this part here, it's labeled part D, in the instructions. Put that on there, like so, and then we're going to go ahead and grab these longer bolts here. And those are going to slide in there, like so. They should go really easily in there, before they start tightening down. If you are feeling something different, be sure to just jump from one to the other to make sure that you're not binding this thing up. We want to make sure it gets there nice and flush, and you can tighten it down. And they'll be the same exact thing for all of the four towers we have.So now what we want to do is take the shorter little bolt here with the red Loctite, and our square, and all we got to do is put the square part towards this side of our tower. And you only want to thread it in enough just so it stays there, and we can do the same exact thing for all four of our towers. So now, we're ready to slide it onto our track. Just be mindful that these are going to be angled towards the inside of your truck bed and, obviously, the Thule facing out. And just make sure that these bottom parts here are going to be facing the same way. So, for example, we're going to slide this on here. It goes on pretty easily. Once it does that, we do have a little stopper, and you can just thread that in, and that's just going to prevent it from coming completely off the track. So I'm using the inside rail for these, and both sides have this longer part on the bottom facing towards the back of the tailgate. Just make sure they're nice and symmetrical. And then, what we can do is, go ahead and throw our big bar up. One thing to take note, notice the shape here, and notice how nicely it flushes up with the shape of our rail. So that's going to be the right side to do it on. And, obviously, the underneath isn't going to have that same pattern, so you guys can see the wrong way to do it, and the right way to do it. It sits in there real nice. You might need to grab an extra set of hands, but I'm going to try to do it myself today. They are pretty light. Push up on them and slide it through. And do the same thing with this side. And it wouldn't be a bad time to get the measuring tape out, just to make sure they're nice and even. And if so, then we can go ahead and tighten them down. So now that we have our rail up into place, we do need to put another one of the square nut, and one of our bolts through. There's a little part of the channel that's thicker than most, so you can actually get it up in there. And since I'm installing this alone today, that's how I did it, just because to get all four of these to go into the track while loading it up by yourself might be a little difficult. Just know you can do it both ways.So now for our angle supports, all we really need to worry about is making sure that this raised part here, that's going to end up going right there. We're going to take another one of those square nuts and one of our bolts, the shorter ones with the Loctite on it, and we are going to thread that through, like so. Just thread it on a little bit, and then there's going to be an opening over here, and that's how we're going to get it into the track. Slide it down, and then we are going to have. I'm going to utilize one of our longer bolts to go into the side here. And you can go ahead and tighten these down too, along with the ones up top.So now we can go ahead and repeat that same exact process for the outside track. So now we're going to go ahead and install these, right here. One thing we need to note, there is going to be a track here. We're going to have to slide into this track, and we're also going to grab the hardware included in our kit, and it's going to go, like so. Like that, and make it slide in that track, followed by the second one. And there's going to be eight knobs that come with this kit, but the ones that are female, that's the ones we're going to use for our knobs up top. And you can do that for all four of these brackets. And once we get them installed, there's going to be two per rail. One thing we want to do, we want to make sure that flat side is facing in.So now we can go ahead and put our caps on, and notice that the tab here has a threaded hole. So what we want to do is make it to where it's going to slide over this part here. Get all evened up. There's going to be a hole underneath. What I would suggest is either grabbing an extra set of hands to balance that, because it's not going to stay there on its own, or get a magnetic bit. I'm using a hex bit here, not magnetic, but I think I can get it done.So now we're pretty much done. All we really need to do is install our knobs here. But before we make sure we tighten everything down, one thing you want to note, make sure, obviously, you have both of them on different tracks, and you want them to be facing inward. This way, you can have this bar closest to your cab, all the way. And then this bar closest to your tailgate. And all there is to it is just threading this in, and that's just going to prevent it from sliding out whenever you have heavy loads on top of there. And if you haven't already, put in these stoppers, and tighten them down.Well everyone, that's just about all you really need to know about the Thule Sliding TracRac System for our 2019 Ford F-150.

Review from a similar SR in Ladder Racks

The TH43002XT-781EX installed onto my 2016 GMC 2500 HD Sierra 6-1/2 bed Denali pickup truck without drilling any holes. Total install time including the cantilever took about 2 1/2 hours with two people. The tools we used included a wide range of metric hex keys, a crescent and some metric open-endeds. The base rails mounted to the bed rails using a threaded aluminum insert for the rear stake pockets (which align with a thru-hole already present in the bed) and an expanding rubber bushing for the front stake pockets (since the front pockets don't have a thru-hole). Evidently some pickup rails cant to one side or another so the base rail install kit includes shims but my truck did not require them. Once installed the rails are rock solid and subsequently the racks are also rock solid. The cantilever comes with replacement saddles that mount up to the rack with a total of 12 bolts making the ensemble nearly missile proof. Almost all bolts are pre-treated with thread locker. My truck already has knobby tires so I did not notice any particular additional wind noise. My plan for the TracRac is to attach a custom mounted Rhino-Rack, which we'll be doing ourselves. I like this product because the fitment on etrailer was reliable and I did not have to drill any holes or use any special tools. The rack is also ridiculously heavy duty, which is more than up to the job of holding the Rhino-Rack I'm going to custom fit to it. We'll be doing some off-roading so this heavy equipment gives me a lot of confidence. Thule always makes great products and I am delighted with the TracRac and I'm very happy with etrailer's site. 787439

Bought new Trac Rac SR racks. Great price, fast delivery. One small piece to the system was missing which prevented me from installing the racks. Contacted George and he had the missing part shipped out right away. Seems the missing piece was the factory's fault not etrailers. Will use again in the future. 462111

Great product! Packaging could be better for the larger pieces (rub marks). My 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab came with some small challenges that I had to solve myself. No videos or written words available. Basically if your bed rails are covered with a bed liner you need to remove the plastic sleeve in the rear stake pockets. Otherwise you won’t get an equal spacing from one rail to the other. You will also need to use the provided rubber tape with the wedges in order to make the rails level. Otherwise it went together great. 706744

I have been planning to buy these for years. Now that I finally bit the bullet, I'm quite happy with the product. Installation was simple and straight forward and the flexibility of the rack is great. At first I had hoped to reuse an old rack that I bought on CL with new base rails and cantilever extension from etrailer. While the old racks still worked with the base rails, the cantilever extension package didn't interface properly. I ended up opting to buy all new parts for the sake of simplicity. I'll put the used rack back on CL. I did have some problems with the order initially due to incorrect parts being in the package, but customer service at etrailer was top notch and everyone I spoke with was helpful. We ironed out the problems and etrailer sent out new parts immediately. What could have been a frustrating experience was turned into a slightly prolonged but easy process of getting a great rack on my truck. Thanks! 270839

Shipping was quick As described Easy to assemble. Wish the kit had one set of directions so I wouldn't have had to take the front rack apart after the fact. The final bolts for the canteleaver seem to be a damage/ scratch hazard. Looks pretty slick though. 704535

This is a high quality product. The parts are all well made, and most everything is either stainless or aluminum, so it should last a long time. I bought it because my Kargo Master Pro-II was rusting up badly in only about eight years. Assembly isn't easy. Takes lots of time to get the rails level and evenly spaced, needs to be near perfect for the uprights to slide easily. And, there are just a lot of parts to put together. Assembly took a little longer because the instructions didn't match the kit in one area. The manual tells you to pre-assemble a bunch of fasteners, but then you realize that your parts don't have slots, like the instructions expect, but rather holes instead. So, the parts needed to be unassembled, then reassembled again, this time through the holes. No biggie, but it added to the time necessary. Be nice if the clips up on top could be easily removed when not in use. They look strange, and add height to your truck. I only ordered two of the tie-downs with the rack, should have ordered four so that shipping would be free. They are expensive, but nice. They didn't suggest it in the manual, but I think it would be a good idea to use anti-sieze on the hardware, I'm a little worried about galling down the road when disassembly is necessary. Stainless is prone to do that. In summary, though, this is a dang nice rack! I don't regret the purchase at all. 302432

Im still happy with the TracRac. Its very handy, and no rust! Unlike the one I replaced it with.

This is essentially the same rack TracRac has been making for years – great materials and very well engineered. It is not spec'ed for a Gen2 Toyota Tacoma, because the composite bed doesn't have stake pockets – but after I popped off the plastic bed side caps, there were lots of options for attachment. You just have to be comfortable drilling holes in the rack and in the sheet metal of your truck. In the end, it looks and functions great. 591638

Review from a similar SR in Ladder Racks

The rack system is very well put together. I only had a couple of issues with the instalation. There wasn't any directions with the base rails, so it took a bit to figure out how it went together and what holes to use for my truck. The canteilever kit, The top bolt that holds the cross bar should be a button screw and square nut, not a square head bolt and nut. with the square head bolt and nut it could interfere with a long load since it sticks up and could catch on anything being loaded . All and all a nice rack. I got this type of rack hoping that I could slide the rear post forward as to not interfere with my 5th wheel when towing it. That part is yet to be dedurmined. 526720

Very happy with the rack on my 2018 Silverado. I also have the Back flip hard top bed cover. I am able to open all but the very last position. I might still be able to adjust the rails and to get there but it hasn't been an issue. Used it to haul lumber and I made a bicycle rack that works with the racks and the bed cover down. Works great. Was not hard to install. 705960

The only sliding rack that works on my GMC Canyon, and as good (if not better) than the original TrackRac I purchased over ten years ago (and still in use) for my Tundra. Wish the TrackRac sliding rack/tonneau combination were still available; it was the PERFECT combo! 660641

Product is great and installed easily once I figured out that for my Ram 1500 Laramie, the pocket stakes are too big for the rubber blocks and won't work and I did have to drill thru the plastic molding. Once I figured out the stake holes wouldn't work I looked at the drawing again and the holes where Tundra is listed gave me the idea to try those. Those holes worked on the Ram and I ended up drilling out the "spikes" that hold the molding onto the sheet metal. No drilling thru the sheet metal was required, only the plastic. Maybe I missed an install video for the Ram, it would have made the install much quicker and I wouldn't have to buy covers for my now cut out front stake pocket holes which weren't covered by the rails as I hoped they would. I haven't installed the cantilever as I don't need it yet. 666596

This Thule rack is one of only a few that fit the Tundra and it has worked out great for my needs, especially with the front extension piece. Installation was straight forward with no major issues doing it solo. A black anodized finish option to match the rails would be a nice feature to have available. 799615

Review from a similar SR in Ladder Racks

I bought this TracRac SR for a 2019 new gen GMC 1500 AT4 with a Lomax/WeatherTech tri-fold hard bed cover thinking I would still be able to open and close cover. I could not. The base rails overlapped the inside bed rail just enough to prevent opening the cover. The base rail itself measure 4" wide. When trying to size it up on truck I did notice that when mounted it looks like the rear base rail is larger than the truck bed rails and hangover the outside of the rails. Some people may or may not liked the fact that it does not follow the contour of the truck bed. I only opened the base rail box so can not comment on cross bars. The base rails were well made and very heavy duty. etrailor customer service is one of the best I have ever dealt with! They do a amazing job, the entire process of ordering to return was incredibly easy and they have a great knowledge of the products they sell. 749154

I have owned many of these ladder racks and they are great. My only recommendation is to use anti seize lubricant on any of the bolts that need to be loosened and tightened to adjust racks and for rack removal as the bolts are stainless steel and the rack materials are aluminum. Enjoy! 716817

Yes, the TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501 that you referenced is a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150 6-1/2 foot bed and will work just fine with your Peragon tonneau that you sent in pics of as your tonneau attaches to the inside of the bed rails and this rack installs through the top of the bed rails.

  • Ladder Rack Compatible with Weathertech Tonneau Cover on 2016 Ford F-150
We do not carry the WeatherTech tonneau covers but according to my research this cover installs completely inside the truck bed of your 2016 Ford F-150. You will need to verify this and it is important that the cover is totally inside your truck bed for a ladder rack to be able to work; none of the cover should be in contact with your bed rails and it should also sit below the top of the rails. If your tonneau meets all of that criteria there is a ladder rack which will fit the 6-1/2...

  • Ladder Rack Compatible with BAK Revolver X2 Tonneau Cover
Tonneau covers and ladder racks often interfere with each other when they use the same mounting points on the truck. But since you have the excellent BAK Revolver cover on your 2016 F-150 you can still install a ladder rack from Thule, the TracRac SR Sliding Rack system. If you have the 5-1/2-foot bed you can use the TracRac # TH43002XT-508 or the same rack with over-the-cab extension # TH43002XT-508EX. Both will work fine with your Revolver cover. If you have the 6-1/2-foot bed you...

  • Best Ladder Rack for Use with BAK Revolver X4 Tonneau Cover BAK79329
A tonneau cover and a ladder rack can be compatible with each other on a truck such as your 2016 Ford F-150 short bed as long as they do not require the same mounting point for installation. The best combination that is known to be compatible is the BAK Revolver X4 hard tonneau cover # BAK79329 and the Thule SR Sliding Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-508. The X4 also works with the 3-bar SR rack # TH43002XT-508EX which includes a 3rd cantilever extension bar for over the cab. The Revolver...

We have just what you are looking for. For your 2016 Ford F-150 6-1/2 foot bed we have the TracRac ladder rack part # TH43002XT-501 which will allow your tonneau cover to also be installed. This installs through the top of the stake pockets like you mentioned so it leaves the insides of the bedrails open for the install of a tonneau.

  • Will the TracRac SR from a 2003 Ford F-150 Fit a 2018 Ford F-150 with the 6-1/2 Foot Bed
Yes, the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack part # TH43002XT-501 will fit both a 2003 Ford F-150 (excluding stepside) and a 2018 Ford F-150 (excluding cargo management system) with the 6-1/2' bed. I have attached an install video for you as well as a photo which shows exactly how to attach the base rails to the bed sides. Due to the age of the system you have now, I recommend replacing the hardware with part # TAHD-21501 and the rubber blocks with part # TARB-11032-1 (4).

For a ladder rack that will mount to the stake pockets on your 2007 Chevy Silverado New Body, I recommend taking a look at the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack. If you have the 6-1/2 foot bed, you will use # TH43002XT-501 and if you have the 1500 with the 5-1/2 foot bed, you will need # TH43002XT-608. This is an excellent sliding ladder rack that features T-track base rails that will let the rack slide along the length of the bed. 4 aluminum load stops are included to keep...

There is only one crossbar size for the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501 so you won't be able to install smaller crossbars but Thule recently updated the bars so that the T-Slots are a standard size for T-Slot mounted accessories that you would use on a typical roof rack. For a similar ladder rack that has crossbars which allow you to use clamp-style accessories you can use the Yakima OverHaul HD which comes with 68" # Y01151-58 or 78" # Y01151-59 Long HD...

If you don't need to use them at the same time, then you can use any rack from the attached link but it will require removing the tonneau completely to install the ladder rack for each use. Thanks for sending us a picture of your BAK tonneau cover! That makes it easy for me to say that the TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack part # TH43002XT-501 that you referenced would be a confirmed fit. Since your tonneau allows access to the tops of the bed rails and the stake pockets the ladder rack would fit it and work well.

  • Best Ladder Rack and Tonneau Cover Combination on 2017 Ford F-150
The best tonneau cover and ladder rack combination for a 2017 Ford F-150 is the TracRac SR # TH43002XT-501 with the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39327. Most tonneau covers will either install in the same place a ladder rack or make contact with the rack while trying to open the cover. The Revolver X2 installs inside the bed rails of the truck and the SR installs in the stake pockets. The X2 is also sits a little further inside the bed rails than other covers, which keeps it from making contact...

For your 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed with your G2 Tonneau cover, I recommend the TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501. For your F-150 with the TracRac Sliding Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501 installed you will want to select a soft tonneau cover that installs inside the bed rails. This is necessary since the TracRac rails sit on top of the bed rails and prevent installing a tonneau cover that uses that same mounting point. The roll-up cover I suggest is the Access # A22010279, which also happens to be the most cost-effective option. This ultra-low-profile cover rolls up in seconds and installs quickly with...
