Video Transcript for All About the Ram Round A-Frame Trailer Jack

Today we're going to be taking a look at a round A-frame trailer jack. This utility jack is going to let you raise and lower your trailer. It's going to feature a lift capacity of 3,000 pounds and a support capacity of 5,000 pounds. The outer tube of the jack is going to have a diameter of 2 and 1 quarter of an inch. The inner tube is going to have a diameter of 2 inches. It's going to feature the top wind handle. It's going to allow you to easily raise and lower you jack and it's got a claw grip design that way it allows for an easy comfortable grip when you're raising or lowering the jack.

The handle can be rotated over to a stowed position during travel, so that's a nice design of the handle mechanism. If we take a measurement of the handle radius, measuring from the center of where it mounts to the outer edge of the handle, that's going to give us a measurement of about 8 inches, so a handle radius of about 8 inches. The jack is going to be made from a steel construction. The outer tube and the inner tube are going to feature a clear zinc finish, which is going to make it highly resistant towards rust and corrosion, making it ideal for marine applications. The inner tube is going to feature a hole located on each side, that way you can easily attach a foot plate, or a caster wheel, or a wheel assembly. Those items are sold separately.

You can find them right here at etrailer.com. That mount hole is going to give us a diameter of 3/8ths of an inch. It's going to measure about 1 inch from the center of that hole to the bottom of the inner tube. This is a bolt on installation to an A-frame trailer. It's going to feature the three pre-drilled mount holes for an easier installation. Those are elongated and they're going to match up well with the holes on your trailer.

Taking into measurement of the bracket height, we want to make sure that our jack is fully retracted, so there it is all the way to its lowest position. If I measure from the bottom of the inner tube to the bottom of that bracket, that's going to give a measurement of about 10 inches. Now I did that measurement with it fully extended. It extends to about 25 inches, so this jack is going to offer a traveler a lift of about 15 inches. If we take a measurement of the clearance that it offers, measuring from the bottom of the bracket to the top of the jack, that's going to give a measurement of about 10 and 7/8ths of an inch.

To the top of the handle mount, that's going to increase to about 12 and a half inches. Measuring to the top of the actual handle, that's going to increase to about 14 inches. The jacks going to offer a nice consistent smooth design so you can see as I raise and lower, it's going to extend the jack. Right now I'm raising it. Nice consistent design. I don't feel any kinking or binding. Really nice smooth operation when it comes to this jack. That's going to do it for today's look at this round A-frame trailer jack.
