Save your back by using this hoist to load a heavy deer or generator and rotate it into and out of your truck bed. Adjust the stabilizer legs to raise or lower the height of this hoist so you can line it up with your hitch receiver for easy hookup.

You're an avid hunter who's just taken down a large buck during your hunting trip, and you want to haul it home to your garage for processing. Or perhaps you're going dry camping in your RV and need to bring an extra generator with you so you can run your AC and stove. This hitch-mounted hoist makes it easier for you to load a heavy deer, generator, 5th wheel hitch, camping equipment, coolers, landscaping rocks, toolboxes, and more into the bed of your pickup truck. This prevents you from trying to manually lift the load up and hurting your back.
Use the adjustable, offset legs to raise or lower the overall height of this hoist, keeping the hitch adapter level to your hitch receiver to simplify hookup. These supportive legs also take on a lot of the weight pressure of your cargo, putting less strain onto your hitch and extending its life.
Because the hitch adapter is extended out, you will be able to lower the tailgate all the way down without interference. You'll need to unspool the cable, which is long enough to reach a generator, cooler or other gear up to 32-1/2' away. Depending on what you are wanting to hoist into your truck bed, you may need a tree strap or ratchet strap (sold separately) to secure it to the hook. The strong, galvanized cable and hook can bear the weight of a deer or generator, and they won't corrode if it's raining or snowing.
To put your cargo into your truck bed, turn the built-in pawl mechanism away from you before cranking the handle next to it clockwise. The molded, plastic-coated handle is comfortable to hold for longer periods of time, and it won't freeze your hands if it's cold outside and you forgot your gloves at home. As you're turning the handle, the machined aluminum pulleys at the top make sure the load is hoisted straight up without the cable binding up.
When your gear has been lifted to where you need it, let go of the handle, and the pawl will automatically stop it from crashing to the ground. You can then rotate the upper vertical upright up to 360 degrees so you can easily position the load where you need it. Then turn the pawl toward you and crank the handle counterclockwise to slowly lower your cargo to the truck bed. Make sure you remove the hoist and throw it in your truck bed or RV storage compartment before driving off the campsite.
Once the 3 pieces of the rack has been assembled with the included hardware, secure the hitch adapter into your truck's hitch receiver using a hitch pin and clip (sold separately) and attach the legs. If you're noticing any wobbling in the rack, especially when it's holding a load, you could switch out the hitch pin and clip for an anti-rattle hitch lock (sold separately) instead. Once the hitch adaper and legs are in place, insert the bottom upright on to the hitch adaper and the winch assembly onto the upright.

Save your back by using this hoist to load a heavy deer or generator and rotate it into and out of your truck bed. Adjust the stabilizer legs to raise or lower the height of this hoist so you can line it up with your hitch receiver for easy hookup.very sturdy. well built. It makes lifting easy and it pivots to swing the load into the truck bed. A downside is that it does take up quite a bit of space in the truck bed when disassembled. Also on unevenground one time the ground was too high for the support leg.
Again it is stable and makes it easy to save your back.
I use this hoist to load a 400 pound generator into a Nissan Frontier. I had to drill an extra set of holes in the extension legs so that they could be raised high enough and pinned. The only ongoing issue I have is that the mast is very hard to rotate when it is under load. I tried a "washer" made from HDPE plastic between the mast and the base but that didn't help. I may try to fabricate an arm that attaches to the mast at right angles to give me more leverage.
I purchased a Demco sliding hitch, that bad boy is HEAVY! If it wasn't for this that hitch would be permanently staying in the bed of the truck.
I assembled the crane in about a hour. Very easy to assemble. Installed on the truck in 10 minutes. Works great. It has plenty of clearance between the crane and tailgate to swing the fifth wheel hitch and generator into the bed. I will have to disassemble the legs for ease of storage. It’s a little bulky on the lower part when assembled. That won’t be a problem, only two bolts.
winch and cable a little cheesy
Easy to assemble and appears to be very well made. I will use it with a Toyota FJ40 for hunting. I bought a double receiver to accommodate a folding hitch hauler and also the hoist, when needed.
When not in use, the hoist will be stowed on the underside of the hitch hauler.
It took me less than 30-minutes to assemble. Assembly went without issues. There is one minor thing I need to address. This product must have been designed for a vehicle with a hitch much higher off the ground. My application is for my Polaris Ranger Northstar Edition. The total ground clearance is 13-inches, so I will have to drill an additional set of holes through both stabilizer legs to accommodate the unit being closer to the ground (see attached photos).
Other than that, I’m golden and ready to rock.
i don’t use this for hunting but it works great to load/unload the generator and extra rhino water/sewage totes when our family dry camps. My only suggestion for the boys in engineering would be to make it more foldable/collaspable if possible to make it easier to pack. but i love the product.
Overall it’s perfect for my needs, would like a little height adjustment on the legs just a bit more extension to move the load away from the hoist, hey what about an electric winch?
Received the unit and put it together immediately, as I needed its capabilities for a job I had. The main parts are heavy and appeared like they would handle the job. I was dismayed that the box was missing the outrigger's adjustable pole, so I contacted etrailer and told them about the missing part, and they immediately sent me one out. Kudos to etrailer for that. However, I still had my job to do immediately, so I improvised by getting a pre-drilled 1" steel square tube from the local hardware store to act as the outrigger's adjustable pole (I wanted to use a 1 1/4" steel tube, but it's ever so slightly to big for the outrigger's receptacle). This allowed me to give support to the outrigger while I lifted my load. I was lifting 450 to 500 lbs, and was leary of the cable's strength, but it did the job. While jacking the load off the ground, setting it down, and jacking it a second time, I noticed that the bolt/nut combination that holds the rear pulley had worked loose and the nut was about to fall off. I had to tighten the nut back on and watch carefully as I completed my job to make sure the nut stayed on. It was working loose again, but I just kept tightening it. I think I will replace the bolt with a longer one and use two nuts tightened against each other to prevent this from happening further. It would be nice if the winch had an automatic steering mechanism for spooling the line on and off, but you can push the cable enough while winching to get a decent spool. Overall, the system did what I needed it to do, and I can see myself using it to advantage as time goes on.
It worked once well. Second time the crank slipped on the shaft. Had I known, I would have built one myself.
It works. Package came destroyed but that was expected. Small chips and flakes in paint but it works.
Just put together the hoist using the provided instructions. Got to say that getting this thing together wasn't as easy as you'd think. I had to disassemble the cable spool from the bracket to be able to get one of the attaching bolts in. Also, cable pulleys where suppose to attach with clevis pins and cotter keys that weren't provided, instead bolts and lock nuts were in the box. One of the brackets for the cable pulleys was too tight for the pulley, so I had to make a slight adjustment using a hammer and a wedge to spread it out a bit. Once together I installed it on my truck ('19 F350 4x4) to help lift my 5th wheel hitch into and down from the bed. The legs of the hoist were fully extended but were still too short (approx. 0,75") to touch the ground when installed in my 2" receiver. When the weight of the hitch was fully on the hoist and it swung behind tailgate the legs of the hoist finally touched the ground and steadied the load, Bottom line:, the hoist does the job I bought it to do, but it could use some refinement of instructions and design.

Been a year and still works as advertised. only negative is it takes up a lot of room to store even broken down.
Easy to assemble, the winch was difficult to operate when the load was the same height. Going to use it for loading camping gear. Built heavy duty ,lifted a generator with no problems.
I purchased this to pick up and place a generator in the back of my pickup. It works well for this plus lifting and placing other items in the bed as well. Easy to operate by one person.
The product is simple to assembly. I plan using the Rack Jack to assist me loading camping equipment. Mostly my generator, tool boxes. Spare tires and a cargo box with our 10'x 20' dinning tent and cooking area .

the Rack Jack worked GREAT the effort and loading time in half with less effort. So far its great.
I ordered the base so this could be used free of the hitch; base doesn't fit the hoist. Can't use it with the hitch because the truck has a topper. It's been sitting useless in the pole barn for a year, I guess we'll cut the winch off at some point and try to get some use out of it, although it's a pretty cheezy winch. I shouldn't have bought it.

This item is only made to be used with a 2 inch hitch receiver for stability and help with lifting loads. The ground stand you ordered Item # 310-VRJ002 is supposed to be used with item # 310-VRJ001. We do have other hoists available here: https:www.etrailer.comdept-pg-Hunting_and_Fishing-pt-Game_Hoist.aspx Be sure to note the different weight capacities and filter on the left to choose between: free standing, tree mount, and hitch mount.

Product works great. No issues in setting up. Use it on Honda Ridgeline 2018. Was able to load and unload generator and iron nautical items with ease. I am a 64 male and could not have move these items without this product. Thanks for the video etrailer, that helped convince me to purchase.

Great, works perfectly and lifts heavy items in my truck.
This product did not make it through two uses. The gears on the winch wore out and it was unable to hoist a load far less than 650 lbs. Very cheap, low quality metal.
Extremely sturdy, effective, and back saving ingenious design! I routinely put my 5th wheel hitch and my generator in the back of my Super Duty Truck. My back is not in the best shape after 24 years of military service. The Rack Jack Hoist is an ingenious and back saving device that works like a charm!! What a great idea! It is extremely useful for my pickup truck when loading heavy items. I no longer require others to help me when loading heavy items as this is a one person job now. I love using this device as it allows me peace of mind and ease of use.
I highly recommend the purchasing the Viking Solutions Rack Jack Magnum Hoist with Winch for 2" Hitches - 650 lbs as it is a life and back saver!
The winch is exactly as described. I was a little concerned about the gauge of metal when I ordered, but after it arrived, I was surprised to see it was constructed of heavy duty gauge metal! Structurally, a very sound product and easy assembly. Had a little SNAFU regarding the delivery, as the box (65lbs) took a little beating before it arrived, although all parts arrived intact, just a little scuffed. Since it was sent to me at no charge, it was no big deal as it will get some wear during use. I have ordered several products from etrailer in the past, and they have never disappointed me. Great price, good products and fast delivery. Thanks Neil W in reaching out to me to see if I was satisfied! You all rock!!!
My wife and I are frequently having to move a 400 pound generator into the back of my pickup using a set of steep ramps and a rope- dangerous at best.
Just tried out the hoist. Easy! No strain, worked exactly as promised.
A great back-saver, safe operation.
Wish I had gotten it sooner.

I was so excited to have another option to load my generator that I tried it out as soon as I got it. Worked great, and Ive used it several times with no issue. Much easier than I expected. The part most stressed is the winch. No wear showing yet, but if it wears out it is a common type that is easily replaced. No need for my wife to help loading it now... another plus.
This hoist is well worth the money. Easy assembly and easy to use.
What I like: Easy to use, and does what it's advertised to do. I am able to load my generator and 5th wheel hitch with no more back strain!
What could have been better: Overall it was very easy to assemble, except for attaching the winch to the upright support. Had to put the bolt through the winch, then place the nut in a box wrench shove it down the metal tube, and align it with the stud to attach. Kind'a frustrating, and took several tries before I got it attached.
The only other observation is my truck is a 4x4 and slightly raised, so when the supports are all the way extended they still don't reach the ground. Not a big problem, I just placed a couple of 2x4s below the supports and it worked fine.
I would recommend this for anyone who loads a lot of heavy items into their truck.
This product worked great, it is helping me everyday. Free and fast shipping is a bonus

It’s been a year and my initial review still stands. It’s a good product that i’ll use for years. One final suggestion for those boys in engineering would be to move the cranking handle to the opposite side for a scose more room to navigate but i’m using it for a beefy generator and not for hunting.
