The SilentACT (Accessory Control Technology) hitch lock from Let's Go Aero takes the rattle and play out of the connection between your trailer hitch and your ball mount or hitch accessory. The unique design features a sturdy steel block with an attached spring that sits inside the shank of your hitch-mounted accessory. Note: This device can only be used with hollow-shank ball mounts and hitch accessories.

SilentACT Hitch Pin Diagram

Place the block inside your ball mount or hitch accessory, and line up the hole in the block with the pin hole in your ball mount. Slide your ball mount into your hitch and insert the hitch pin. To activate the anti-rattle device, tighten the pin by folding out the integrated crank and rotating the handle clockwise. Doing this will pull the accessory up against the wall of your hitch receiver, thus keeping the accessory from moving around inside your hitch. When you're done, just fold the crank down. No more annoying clanking or vibrating.

The barrel-style lock goes on the end of the anti-rattle pin to provide security for your hitch-mounted accessories. Two round keys are included with the lock. A sturdy rubber dust cap comes attached to the barrel lock so that you can easily cover the lock cylinder, thus ensuring that no dirt or grime will get in to damage the lock.

Video Transcript for Lets Go Aero Hitch Locks - Universal Anti-Rattle Lock - SHP2082 Review

Today well be reviewing part number SHP2082. This is the SilentACT anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock for inch and a quarter, two inch and two and half inch hitches, and its from Lets Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. The trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of your standard hitch pin and clip and its going to help prevent theft of the ball mount or your hitch mounted accessory. Its also going to secure your accessory to your trailer hitch. The anti-rattle pin is going to reduce the amount of play and vibration inside of the hitch.Ill show you how to set it up here in a minute. This is a tool-free installation.

Its a tool-free design. It has an integrated crank, which is this black portion here that lets you quickly and easily tighten the pin. It comes with a barrel style lock that comes with two round keys and a weather resistant rubber dust cap thats going to help keep the cylinder free of any dust or moisture. It has a nice chrome plating on top of the sturdy steel construction, so it is going to stand up well against rusting and corrosion. It is designed to be use with inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter Class I and Class II two inch by two inch and two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers.

Please keep in mind that this is designed for Class I towing applications only, but it will work with any Class I hitch accessory. In order to use this the ball mount or hitch accessory must have a hollow shank. Well be using this one today. You hear that we do have our hollow shank. What we can do is we can go ahead and place our block inside of our application and were going to go ahead and place the anti-rattle bolt through.

Well just go ahead and tighten it up. Once it gets tight this does have a CAM action lever to it so all weve got to do is close that and its going to fully secure it. Well go ahead and turn our lock to an open position, place it over top and then remove the key. You would install this inside the receiver tube of your hitch and then you would thread in the anti-rattle bolt and secure it with the lock on the other side. I just wanted to go ahead and show you with our ball mount today, that way you can get an idea of how the system works and how to install it.

The pin diameter of this system is going to be a half inch. You have two and a half inches of span to work with, so thats the inside pin length. The overall length not included in the handle is going to measure right around six inches. When used in towing applications the SilentACT hitch lock is compatible with Class I trailer hitches only. Again, please do not use this device with the towing setup that exceeds a Class I rating. Thats going to complete todays review of part number SHP2082. This is the SilentACT anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock from Lets Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. .

It is well made. But it is a bit thick for the space I have between the bumper and the hitch. 427357

- SHP2082
by:

Read the reviews, most of which panned it for the larger hitches, but I have an 1-1/4" so I went with it. I will be using it with an Aero VeeMe, which has an integrated threaded insert so this screws right in in place of the lame bolt that comes with it and makes the included spring nut unnecessary. The problem is, the threaded insert puts the end of the threads closer to the outside of the receiver so this product as is stops threading in before it's close enough for the cam to work. I will need to either shim it with another metal washer, replace the nylon spacer with a thicker one, or possible pull out the old tap & die set and cut the threads a little further along the shaft of the pin. Not exactly plug & play when used with the rack I bought. It may work fine on others where the spring nut comes into play. 250565

- SHP2082
by:

Great idea but the spring-loaded nut's spring is too short for 2" receivers. Tried to stretch it out but the nut would still move occasionally so I paid $10 to have it welded and now it's the perfect no-tool/no-rattle solution! 136256

I am not sure what to think of this lock to be honest. I liked it but it wasnt for me and I will explain more below. Build - It seems very well built and easy to use. I would have loved to continue to use it. Although it does fit all of the hitch sizes specified, it doesnt work 100% properly with 2" or 2 1/2" hitches. Install - As stated above, the reason I was not fond of this lock is because the way you install it, you insert the block with the spring on it inside of the hitch and that is what you are supposed to screw into with the pin. On a 1 1/4" hitch, this would work fine, however I found that not only did the spring do nothing on a 2" hitch, allowing the block to slide around as you try to install your hitch into the receiver, but the block is also too small for a 2" receiver. This makes install time consuming and annoying because as you try to thread the pin into the block, it just spins inside of the hitch instead of the corners catching like it is designed to do on a 1 1/4" hitch. The way I got it to work was pulling on it as I threaded it slowly, allowing for friction to help with threading it in, but now removing it is also going to be cumbersome trying to unthread it. I opted to return these locks and purchase the 2" specific locks made by the same company because I plan on removing and swapping my rack between vehicles often, so I did not want to deal with the constant headache of screwing the pin in and having the block spin inside. Great concept, but there needs to be specific models for each hitch size in my opinion. 551058

PROBLEM!! Please see attached pictures of the distorted plastic handle on the Silentact. This occurred removing the reciver lock the second time after using. For the price of this item, a metal handle would be better suited for the job of "tighten firmly". Other than this major problem the item worked as advertised. Would like to continue using it, however, a more reliable handle is essential 133655

Before I purchased this product I sent Etrailer.com specs on the type of vehicle and hitch I had. They were nice enough to send me back an actual video with 2 recommendations. I went with the SilentAct Anti Rattle hitch lock. What I like about this hitch is it's easy to install and to lock. It has a crank system which allows you to tighten the hitch so it won't rattle in transit. You can easily lock and unlock it. I've used it so far to transport my road bike. There wasn't any more rattling and I felt secure when driving with my bike on it. The test will be my mountain bike. I would recommend this product for a 1 1/4 trailer hitch as a Class I or possibly II. What I do wish that it was less expensive.. it's def not a cheap lock. 114888

Hey Patrick, so far so good. The lock still works fine : The lug nut inside the hitch has worn down a bit, but it still tightens once you bring the locking bar down

Carol the replacement or alternate hitch lock that I received (since the one that I ordered was not in and would nor be in for a long time) is not up to my satisfaction. The plastic handle is cheap and the spring had to be modified just to fit. I'm not happy with the product at all and am looking for replacement asap. I will not be writing a review for this product and waste of my money. 575734

The cargo carrier was exactly what I needed to load extra equipment for my recent camping and fishing trip to N. C. I also purchased a light harness and anti sway lock for the carrier. The light harness was an additional safety precaution for the drivers behind me to see. However, the anti sway lock was cumbersome to tighten, taking many attempts to thread through the hitch nut insert. 517572

This lock works well with the Aero Vee Mee V2. It feels pretty light and somewhat flimsy for a lock, so it wouldn't deter a determined thief, but it might prevent opportunistic theft. It is handy for securing the anti rattle bolt without a wrench, but be careful not to over tighten. 225118

- SHP2082
by:

The anti-rattle locking pin will do the job. The rectangular nut will spin inside the channel as you are tightening it. The problem is the nut is not long enough to engage the top or bottom of the channel to prevent it from spinning. The application was a 2" receiver and mating part. It should work fine for a 1 1/4" receiver component. 221697

I'm using this lock with an old, thread-less, Thule Doubletrack 1-1/4" bike rack. I'm using a 2" adapter as well. This lock was thin and long enough to secure the rack to the receiver. I wasn't sure if hand-tightening the bolt would be enough. However, once the handle is locked into place, there is no movement between the receiver and rack. The handle is very convenient and fast. Even though this was an expensive lock, I'm very pleased with the purchase. The service from etrailer was top notch as well. The Free Shipping option took about a week for me to receive the lock. 118318

  • Recommended RV Rated Bike Rack to Carry 4 Bikes
  • You're correct we have 6 options of RV rated 4-bike racks that I've linked on this page. The most popular is the Swagman Trailhead # S63381. This is, of course, in part due to cost but it's also a Swagman who has done very well with bike racks for RV's. A lot of bike rack manufacturers haven't put much emphasis on the RV market where Swagman has done a great job. It is more of a basic model (No locks like you mentioned) but is great quality. Or another option I think you will like is the Pro Series lock and anti-rattle device # PS63100. This one uses a longer block so that it cannot turn when inside of the shank rather than relying on a spring for retention. I have linked a video of this one as well. • We have several types of RV-approved bike racks including hitch-mount types. All are shown on the linked page. One of my favorite 2-bike RV racks is the BikeWing, # B01311, which I like for several reasons: low price, light weight, high 40-lbs-per-bike capacity and good clearance from the hitch pin hole. It also comes apart and stores easily and it can be used on both RVs and cars. This rack holds the bikes by their wheels - no frame contact - and includes nylon cords and foam pads to...

  • RV-Rated Bike Rack Recommendations for Class A Motorhome
  • A hitch extension would seem to be the ideal solution for your circumstances with insufficient bike clearance at the back of your RV, but any type of extension like # C45791 will cost you half of your hitch capacity. Hitch adapters/extenders cause this loss of capacity because they change the geometry of the system, allowing for more stress to be applied to the hitch tube because the actual load is further away. A better option is an RV-rated bike rack that provides enough clearance...

  • Trailer Hitch and Related Towing Items for 2010 Hyundai Accent 3-Door Hatchback
  • We can help you select the correct hitch for your 2010 Hyundai Accent 3-Door Hatchback. We have two models of 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch available for your hatchback. The Draw-Tite hitch # 24795 has a design that allows the main cross tube to be mostly concealed behind the fascia panel. The Curt # C11092 will install such that the cross tube will still be visible. Both hitches share identical capacities so really your choice between them comes down to price and appearance. Since the...

  • Recommended RV Hitch and RV Hitch Bike Racks
  • We offer hitch receivers for use on RVs that you can see on the linked page. Both bumper-mount and frame-mount type hitches are made and it will be a good idea to check with your trailer's manufacturer to confirm which type is best for your particular RV. Examples of both types are parts # C19101 which fits 4 x 2-inch bumpers (as long as they are NOT a C-channel type) and # UF35-946403 which fits trailer frames between 47-1/8- and 77-inches wide (measured outside edge to outside edge). Once...

  • Class I Trailer Hitch Weight Capacity for Thule Roadway 2 Hitch Bike Rack
  • The Thule Roadway 2 hitch-mount bike rack # TH912XTR is compatible with Class I, Class II and even larger 2-inch Class III hitches. This includes the no-drilling-required Class I Draw-Tite # 24736 that you referenced which is a confirmed fit on your 2005 Hyundai Accent GT. The Roadway 2 weighs in at around 30-lbs so even with this weight added to your bike's own weight you will be well within the 200-lb tongue weight limit for the hitch. But certainly if you are concerned about total...

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle and Locking Hitch Pin for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma With an OEM Trailer Hitch
  • Based off of the picture that you sent in with your question (which is always greatly appreciated), it does not look like the Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset, part # 63201, is compatible with the OEM trailer hitch on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma. The J-Pin is used with hitch receivers that have the 2 pin holes which your setup doesn't appear to have. I recommend going with the SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082, which fits 1-1/4 inch, 2 inch,...

  • Tire Widths Compatible with Lets Go Aero BikeWing T4 4-Bike Hitch Rack B01458
  • The Lets Go Aero BikeWing T4 4-Bike Hitch Rack # B01458 is an excellent choice in a moderately-priced high-capacity lightweight hitch bike rack. This rack will work fine with your 3-inch wide tires; it can do just fine with tires up to 3-1/2-inches wide according to my contact at Let's Go Aero. You may care to add the mating anti-rattle lock kit # SHP2082.

  • Locking Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin for Use with a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch and 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Adapter
  • The first thing you will want to look at is the shank of the adapter. If it is hollow then you can use locking hitch pin # SHP2082 or # 63147. But if the shank is not hollow then you will need to use a regular anti-rattle device like # 93347 and lock # 5200. I must warn you that the use of an adapter reduces the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So if the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes is more than half the tongue weight capacity of the hitch you...

  • Hitch-Mount Bike Rack Options for 2010 Subaru Impreza Sedan
  • Hitch-mount bike carriers are a good choice since they place no stress on the sheet metal parts of your vehicle, because the hitch that supports them mounts to the vehicle frame. The link provided will show you all of the 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch receivers for the Impreza. For the non-WRX sedan use Draw-Tite # 24807. Another link will show you all hitch-mount bike carriers compatible with a Class I hitch (but note that you will be limited to 2 bikes due to the weight imposed). You...

  • Recommend RV Rated Bike Rack to Carry 4 Bikes on a Travel Trailer
  • Trailers and RV's have a lot more movement at the rear because the rear axle is much further away from the actual hitch. Therefore the bike rack will take on addition stress when compared to a standard passenger vehicle. I've linked our complete selection of 4-bike racks that are rated for you to use on your travel trailer. I personally recommend the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476. Since it's a hanging rack it accommodates a wide variety of bikes. The exception being those that don't have...
