Lets Go Aero Hitch Locks - 63147

This anti-rattle hitch pin dramatically reduces any movement or vibration of your ball mount in your hitch. Included lock ensures security for your hitch accessory. Designed for use on hollow-shank ball mounts and accessories. 1/2" Pin diameter.

Features:

  • Trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of standard pin and clip to prevent theft of ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory
    • Secure your bike rack, cargo carrier, hitch cover, and more to your trailer hitch
  • Anti-rattle pin reduces play and vibration in the hitch connection
    • Place block with spring inside shank of ball mount or hitch accessory
    • Slide ball mount or accessory into hitch receiver
    • Insert pin through hitch pin hole and anti-rattle block with spring
    • Twist pin with wrench (not included) so ball mount or accessory is pulled tight against side of hitch receiver wall
  • Barrel-style lock comes with 2 keys
    • Weather-resistant rubber dust cap keeps cylinder free of debris
  • Chrome finish is stylish and corrosion resistant
  • Sturdy steel construction

Specs:

  • Application: 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" trailer hitch receivers
    • Ball mount or hitch accessory must have a hollow shank
  • Pin diameter: 1/2"
  • Inside pin length (span): 2-3/8"
  • Overall length: 5-1/4"

Notes:

  • Manufacturer recommends coating threads with a petroleum-based lubricant prior to first use.
  • This device can only be used with hollow-shank ball mounts and hitch accessories.
  • This device may not work with a ball mount or a hitch accessory that has a threaded shank, which is a shank that is designed to be used with another anti-rattle device.

The Silent Hitch Pin from Let's Go Aero takes the rattle and play out of the connection between your trailer hitch and your ball mount or hitch accessory. The unique design features a sturdy steel block with an attached spring that sits inside the shank of your hitch-mounted accessory.

Silent Hitch Pin DiagramSilent Hitch Pin Close Up

Place the block inside your ball mount or hitch accessory, and line up the hole in the block with the pin hole in your ball mount. Slide your ball mount into your hitch and insert the hitch pin. To activate the anti-rattle device, just twist the pin with a wrench to tighten it down. Doing this will pull the accessory up against the wall of your hitch receiver, thus keeping the accessory from moving around inside your hitch. No more annoying clanking or vibrating.

The barrel-style lock goes on the end of the anti-rattle pin to provide security for your hitch-mounted accessories. Two round keys are included with the lock. A sturdy rubber dust cap comes attached to the barrel lock so that you can easily cover the lock cylinder, thus ensuring that no dirt or grime will get in to damage the lock.

Video Transcript for Lets Go Aero Hitch Locks - Universal Anti-Rattle Lock - 63147 Review

Today, we'll be reviewing part number 63147. This is the anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock for 1-1/4-inch hitches from Let's Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. The trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of your standard hitch pin and clip to prevent theft of your ball mount or hitch mount accessory. The anti-rattle pin is going to reduce the amount of play and vibration inside of your hitch connection. This does feature a barrel style lock that comes with two keys, has a weather-resistant rubber dust cap, so it's going to help keep out any dust or moisture from getting inside of the lock core, and the system is made from a sturdy steel construction with a nice chrome finish, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion and provide a little bit of style as well. Show you real quick how this installs. Again, it is designed for 1-1/4-inch style receiver. You do want to make sure that you have a hollow shank when using this. It will not fit with a solid shank ball mount or accessory, so what you would do is you would place this system here inside of the shank of your accessory. Once you have that in there, you want to be sure that you line up the spring hole as well as the block hole with the pin hole on each side of the shank. Once you have that set, then you're ready to insert your accessory inside of your hitch.

You could take your anti-rattle bolt. It has threads inside of the block, so you just thread that into place. It does have a nice lock washer there, so once everything grabs, you're going to be set to go. The only left to do is to tighten it down with a wrench and install your lock on the other side of your hitch. Place it on there, one twist of the key. Then, you can close the dust cap, and you should be all set to go. Not only is this going to secure your accessory to your hitch and to your vehicle, it's also going to help eliminate any rattle or wobble that you may have inside of your hitch. The pin diameter is going to measure 1/2 inch.

The inside pin length, or the span, is going to give us a measurement of 2-3/8 inches, measuring from this point here to this point here. The overall length is going to give us a measurement of 5-1/4 inches, and that's with the lock installed. That's going to complete today's review of part number 63147. This is the anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock for 1-1/4-inch hitches from Let's Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. .

This works well for class 1 towing although I'm using it for my hitch cover. I tried looking at the website for a class 2 anti-rattle lockable hitch pin but could not find one so I suppose I'll have to just use the regular hitch pin when towing. Unfortunate 596546

I didn't read the title closely enough and bought this thinking it would fit my 2" trailer hitch (I read it wrong, seeing the 2 at the end of the description), so I can't speak to how well it fixes the rattle. That said, it was easy to install (except that I couldn't lock it because it was too short), It's a round key, and comes with a rubber cover to keep dirt out. I'll have to find a different solution for a 2" hitch. 616562

Extremely worthwhile to purchase this hitch pin. It costs more but is extremely worthwhile. This will make whatever you are installing in the hitch more sturdy, less wobble, and obviously more secure with the lock etc. I am very happy I purchased this for the added sturdiness and smoother hauling alone. 518557

excellent product, keeps my cheap basket tight to the hitch so i dont cruise down the highway looking like a real goob with a crooked trailer droopin from my hot-rod porsche! Your company has a great system, quick shipping and a smooth website! Keep up the great service! 455542

Works great, snugged up the tube in my bike rack to the receiver and stopped the swaying of the rack. Quick, easy installation. The only thing I would mention is that the instructions say that you need a 3/4" wrench but it actually requires a 5/8" wrench. Simple to install and it does exactly what it is designed to do. 88589

Its now been a year and I have used this on many occasions and it still works perfectly. Its a great, inexpensive solution for a swaying bike rack.

I first ordered a bike rack from your company. I then needed to order a locking device to secure the 1 1/4" hitch/bike rack to the receiver. I purchased the recommended hitch pin from your site for said bike rack. And here is the problem. The 1 1/4" hitch has a closed solid end, not an open one which is needed to properly secure the rack. A portion of the Silent Hitch Pin must go inside the hitch. It can't because it's solid!!! 585794

Comments

If the bike rack has a solid shank, youll want to use a non-threaded lock like part # RH2-XL

Rectangular nut does not fit in my hollow 1 1/4" mount. Tried to file it down and tried to hammer it in, but no go. Otherwise, nice finish and locking mechanism. Circular key hole is real hard to pick. Wish it fit. 527554

Comments

It sounds as if the shank of your hitch mounted accessory is constructed of square tubing that has a wall thickness thats thicker than whats usually seen. A few quick passes with an angle or bench grinder should allow you to remove a small enough amount of material for the block to fit. Dont try to remove all the material in one pass, as it can heat up the metal which could weaken it.

I bought this anti-sway hitch pin for my bike rack. It rocked back and forth and drove me nuts. It’s easy to install and completely tightened the rack up when it’s mounted on the car. You do need to use a wrench to tighten it up before you lock it though. Highly recommend if your rack bounces around. Etrailer shipped super fast too. 554921

I bought this product because it had an overwhelming amount of great reviews. In fact, the other two options for my 2008 Honda Civic Si also had great reviews. Well, here's another: Just as expected, the install went smoothly. I managed to install the hitch all by myself. I had the rear of my car on jackstands and just propped the hitch up on my knees underneath the car, while attaching the supplied u-bolt to the center. That was the hardest part. The rest of the steps, which were clearly illustrated in the instructional video, were a breeze. I bought this product to mount a bike rack, and I haven't had any problems with it on. Along with an anti-rattle hitch pin, you can really feel how sturdy the product is as you try to wiggle it. Just make sure to torque the bolts to specification, and you should be able to rest easy. Great product! Also, keep up the good work with the tutorial videos, etrailer! 212129

Make sure your shank is truly hollow! I'm sure this product works great for the proper hitch accessory, but unfortunately I ended up returning it. By hollow, they mean the hitch shank must be completely hollow with no threads or anything (think two holes across each other with just an open square of metal between). I tried using this with a Rocky Mounts bike rack that had a hollow shank but also a threaded hitch pin that tightened down to reduce wobble. The threads on that hitch pin were different than these, so the devices were not interchangeable. In short, this should work with any hitch accessory with a completely hollow shank that normally uses a standard sliding pin without threads. It may possibly work with some threaded "anti-wobble" hitch devices, but the installed threads would need to be the same specifications as those on this pin. Return process was easy. Thanks etrailer. 672931

Comments

Most bike rack manufacturers that use threaded hitch pins will offer locks that are proprietary. If the bike rack has a lock available, we will list that fact in the product description.

I'm using this but I'm not happy. The threads did not go high enough on the bolt to draw the trailer hitch shank against the receiver. I think this is a design flaw. To fix, I bought a bunch of SS washers and put them on the bolt. Works fine now, but I shouldn't have had to do that. This may be a unique flaw on the 1.25" version. 281143

We do carry the Boone No-Rattle Trailer Hitch Wedge for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # 93347 that will work with the 1-1/4 inch shank on the Rola TX-103. The Boone anti-rattle device is a wedge type that is slide between the hitch shank and the receiver tube. As it is anti-rattle is tighten, it reduces the rattle made at your hitch point. The Lets...

  • Anti-Rattle Devices for 1-1/4 inch Hitches
  • If the ball mount you have installed in the factory hitch of your 2007 Ford Edge is hollow you would want the # 63147 to take the rattle out of the setup. If the ball mount is solid you would want the part # RM-061-125 instead to take out the movement. Your hitch will have to have a collar around the end of the hitch opening for this product to work though. I attached a couple review videos for you to check out as well.

  • Strength of SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082 for Use on 2006 Lexus IS-250
  • The Lets Go Aero SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082 fits all hitch sizes (1-1/4-inch, 2-inch and 2-1/2-inch) and provides both anti-rattle and anti-theft functions. While any lock or anti-theft device will provide a degree of protection, a determined thief with enough time can defeat even the best systems. Please note the crank on the SilentACT lock is part of the anti-rattle function, not the lock, but certainly it does provide a target for a would-be thief. If...

  • Will Class II Cargo Carrier Work With Class I Trailer Hitch on 2018 Subaru Crosstrek?
  • If you are certain that the Class I, 1-1/4" hitch on your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek does not have the stop tab then yes, you can use the Pro Series Cargo Carrier # 63155. The only thing to keep in mind is that you still have to go by the weight capacity of your Class I hitch. I also highly recommend using the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches # 63147 to both lock your cargo carrier to your hitch and greatly reduce the amount of rattling you would encounter with...

  • How to Remove the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock 63147
  • You'd want to get a set of needle nose pliers or something similar to reach in and grab the spring so you can pull it out of the shank. Otherwise a slot screwdriver might be able to drag it out as well.

  • Installing and Removing the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63147
  • It is actually not all that difficult to install or remove the Let's Go Aero anti-rattle hitch pin # 63147. In most cases you can reach in with a finger and pull out the spring and block portion. Otherwise a screwdriver would have short work of reaching in and pulling out the spring and block. I have linked a video to a product that uses the same system and you can see that installing it is easy. What I do usually to take out the spring and block is to use the pin part or something...

  • Adding Security Features to a RockyMounts Bike Rack
  • Since your RockyMounts MonoRail bike rack has a threaded hitch pin to reduce the rattle, the Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63147 is not compatible as the rectangular block will need to fit inside the shank of the bike rack. Since any lock that you add to your setup will act as a theft deterrent and could eventually be broken, the best way to ward off would-be thieves is to make it look like it will be a lot of work to get your bike/bike rack. What I recommend...

  • In Search Of A Threaded Hitch Pin For Bell Bike Rack
  • You will need to use a lock made by Bell for your Bell bike carrier if it requires a threaded hitch bolt. The issue is that bike rack manufacturers give their locks unique threads so they are not interchangeable with other racks. While it is possible that some carriers will be threaded the same I have no way to test any of the ones we have with a Bell bike carrier, so I have no way to confirm if a theaded pin like the Replacement Threaded Hitch Bolt for SportRack Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers...

  • Which Hitch Lock Fits Shank of Saris Bones Hitch Bike Rack
  • The Saris hitch lock part # SA3022 and the # 63147 are totally different hitch locks/anti-rattle devices. The part # 63147 is designed to fit hollow shank accessories and the # SA3022 is designed to fit shanks that are threaded. For the Saris Bones # SA882 that fits trailer hitches it would require the # SA3022.

  • Weight of Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • The 20x47 Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs # 63155 weighs about 39 lbs and is rated for a weight capacity of up to 300 lbs. The actual weight for carrying cargo will be limited by your hitch receiver's tongue weight rating and the 39 lbs of the carrier. You will need a hitch pin like # PC2 or a hitch lock. I recommend the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches - 2-3/8" Span # 63147 which will secure and lock your carrier.

  • Using Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin # 63147 for Towing
  • The # 63147 Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin you referred to does feature a 1/2 inch diameter pin, which is the standard diameter for Class I and II hitch pins. The pin does not carry a rating, but it has more than enough capacity to handle anything a Class I or II hitch would be exposed to. Keep in mind that this anti-rattle pin can only be used with accessories that have a hollow shank.

  • Anti-Rattle Device for Use with a 2 Inch to 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Reducer
  • If you're using the Brophy 2 inch to 1-1/4 inch Hitch Reducer # HT02 you can use an anti-rattle through the 2 inch receiver and the reducer, like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2 Inch Hitches # 63232. If you want a device to be used through the other end of the reducer with the accessory that is connected then the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4 Inch Hitches # 63147 is what you'll need. Both items are a locking hitch pin as well as an anti-rattle device....

  • How to Reduce Excessive Trailer Noise (Banging/Rattling)
  • It sounds to me like the hinge pin on your trailer's tailgate is worn and is causing excessive movement which will result in a noisy ride. In order to secure the tailgate to the trailer while driving down the road I recommend using a set of ratchet straps like the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps part # EM34415. In order to reduce movement and rattling from the ball mount inside the receiver tube you will want to use an anti-rattle hitch pin such as the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch...
