Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Bike Locks - Cable Lock - HRLHPTC Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks anti-rattle hitch lock and cable lock for bike racks. The anti-rattle hitch lock is this component here. This secures your Hollywood Racks bike rack to your trailer hitch receiver. This is designed for use with the Commuter, Traveler, Trail Rider, and 2-bike Sport Rider racks. And this is a simple anti-rattle bolt. So you place your bike rack into the receiver tube of your hitch, line up your pin holes, place this in, and start threading it down.Once you have it hand tight, go ahead and use a socket wrench, or an open face wrench to finish the tightening process.

And as you do that, it's drawing the shank of your bike rack to one side of the hitch. So it's going to reduce the amount of rattle and wobble from within the hitch. Then you take your lock, and just snap it onto the end of the pin. So, this is a really nice product to have. It locks your bike rack to the hitch of the vehicle, so nobody's going to be able to run off with your bike rack or run off with your bikes if they're loaded on there. This kit also includes a eight foot cable look.

So not only is your bike rack secure to your vehicle, but now your bikes are locked to your bike rack. The cable simply threads through the welded loop on some bike racks from Hollywood Racks, and then it threads through the bike frames, and then locks back to itself, right here. So it's a nice, easy to use design. And just like the hitch lock, it has the push lock design. So the push to lock bodies are very easy to operate. The cable is vinyl coated.

Underneath the coating is braided steel, so it's very durable, it's strong. And that coating keeps the unit from scratching, or damaging your bike's finish.Key hole covers keep out dirt and moisture. So you have one right here, and then you have a dust cover on the hitch lock. Keys are included and they're all keyed alike so any one of the keys will work on either lock. The pin diameter right here, the bolt diameter is a 1/2 inch.

Again, your cable length is eight feet. And this product is covered with a lifetime warranty. That's a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hollywood Racks anti-rattle hitch lock and cable lock for bike racks.

First off let me say what a lucky find it was coming across this company! I just googled bike rack because I have never bought one before and happened upon them! They’re tutorials are amazing and I must also think the other customers for writing reviews that were so extremely helpful! The customer service here is fantastic! They got right back to me! I bought the Hollywood trail rider to bike rack ( with some good advice from customer reviews and customer service) I also purchased the anti-rattle hitch lock and cable for it. The order came extremely quickly, very well packaged, and even follow up emails from etrailer letting me know it was coming and that it should have arrived I know some people in the reviews had problems with it, we have not. We have used it for about a week and a half now on and off on two different vehicles. Works perfect! It also fits on our third vehicle if we want to use it on that. Love that it came with four of the same keys! Great product so far have had for about two weeks ! 438969

Hi! Your very welcome, your company is fantastic! Love all the tutorials, they were so helpful in making my purchase. And the reps that answered all my questions were so helpful and nice! I recommend etrailer to everyone! Everything is holding up terrific! We love the rack and accessories! One of the Velcro straps started peeling apart and your rep gave me the info for Hollywood and they were great! Sent me extra and received it right away. Looking forward to more purchases in the future! Have a great day!!

I wanted a "capture the tire" Hitch carrier for a truck. After searching the web, I came onto your Sport Rider model by Hollywood, and after viewing the video, bought it. After one year of use, I still am very glad that I went with this model. I also purchased the Anti-rattle Hitch lock and cable lock for my bike too. Like the idea of being able to lock the Bike rack to the truck for peace of mind. They all work well as a set!!! I Highly would suggest getting this particular model and lock. 250939

I bought this locking linch pin and cable set to replace the one that came with the bike rack. I lost the linch pin lock to the first set. While I could have just ordered a replacement linch pin and lock, I decided to order the whole set so that the same key operates both linch pin and cable. I was happy with the first set and am equally happy with the replacement set. 563476

Two keys and a cable lock work as designed. Great price too! I discovered I did not need this product as a cable, lock and hitch pin is included in the Hollywood Racks bike rack that I purchased. We now have a dedicated lock for the rack and we'll use the extra cable to secure our bikes when we are out and about on our bikes. 502434

We purchased this rack for our Plug-in Prius because we wanted an easier way to get bikes on the car. It has worked like a charm. Very well designed and solidly fabricated. Also easy to install and uninstall. We have had fun moments waiting in line for ferries, with two bikes on the Hollywood in back, and two kayaks on top. It is something of a show stopper. Though Toyota does not recommend installing hitches, it is not clear what the problem is because it has worked well. 404497

Just received my lock and Trail Rider hitch rack yesterday. Really like both so far after using them this morning to haul our two mountain bikes to a segment of our Cross Florida Greenway trail. The bikes ride rock-solid and there's very little rack twist or wobble underway. The rack is much easier to mount bikes on than our Thule that we use for our heavy ebikes. With the Trail Rider we simply "drop" each bike into its respective wheel holders, depress the corresponding hook to the top tube, and secure each Velcro strap to the wheels. Done. Also a breeze removing the bikes at the trail and at home. No worries of theft with the lock that affixes the hitch bolt to the hitch receiver. And the eight-foot cable with its own lock (one key for both locks) allows us to attach both bikes to the receiver. My only quibbles concern some fiddling necessary to assemble the wheel holders on the rack and the adjustment of each, and the dependance on those Velcro wheel straps. They're on the short side, so there's only about an inch and a half of hook-and-loop adhesion. Not a huge deal, but I've purchased four longer Velcro straps to supplement. You could also use shock cord. All in all a good buy and just one-fourth the cost of our Thule, but of course this Trail Rider won't carry heavy ebikes. etrailer delivered in three days, no shipping fee or tax. I'd buy from etrailer again if only because of the great, informative web site. 385657

This is the best website and best service I have received in years. I honestly can't say how it could have been better. I would encourage others to talk to the rep as when I did I was directed to choices that were better for my needs than the ones I had chosen based just on the website. There are a lot of details on the site, which makes one think that is all you need, but when I spoke to the rep I discovered many other issues that helped me make a better choice. Thanks. 322496

Good service by eTrailer and I am happy with the hitch lock. I' d rate the hitch lock a 5. However, I was hoping for something a bit more integrated with the cable lock. Having bought the same brand rack and lock, there is not a an easy way to lock the cable to the rack, a welded loop would have been good. Granted you wouldn't expect the cable to be more than a nuisance to slow down opportunistic theft. Seems like it wouldn't take much of a redesign effort to fix this. I rate the cable as a 2 due to this for a 3.5 overall. 307683

Since we still have snow, I have not had a chance to use the bike rack yet. Putting it together was rather simple. I did discover an error in the listing of parts; N on page one shows two bolts, four washers, and nut. The four washers are not included in the parts package and were not necessary since nuts had a rubber insert. Figure 2 also depicts this error. Your listing of parts also contains this error. All the wheel holders but one were easy to slide on the wheel tubes. One was very difficult to install; I had to remove some of the plastic on the holder to make it work. Other than these items, rack seems very solid. Anxious to give it a trial run. 181829

  • Difference Between Hollywood Racks Trail Rider and Sport Rider 2-Bike Racks
  • The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z and Sport Rider # HR1000Z 2-Bike Racks referenced in your question are very similar, platform style carriers that can transport up to 2 bikes at 45 pounds each. These are both very nice options that feature adjustable wheel mounts to accept a variety of wheel sizes and heelbases along with an anti-rattle hitch bolt that will reduce movement inside the hitch receiver. The primary difference between the two models is that the Sport Rider # HR1000Z...

  • Recommended Platform Bike Rack for Use With 2013 Jeep Wrangler
  • I can certainly help you out choosing the right bike rack to fit your needs. The first step for you to take is to measure from the center of your Jeep's hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the spare tire. For example, on a 2013 Wrangler, Curt hitch # 9883544 measures 10-1/2" to the edge of the spare. You would need your bike rack to extend past this at its closest point if your Jeep has a similar measurement. The Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 is 8 inches to the first wheel hoop, and the...

This kit also includes a cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. For that you'd want the part # HR3000 that you mentioned as well. This is designed to fit both hitch sizes and would be a great option. The biggest issue we see is the head which tilts back towards the vehicle, makes contact with the hatch. In order to see if that is the case for your 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 we will need to first measure up from the top inside edge of the receiver tube 29". This is a more economical option, but it does come with anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes from moving when you are driving. It also...

  • Recommended Hitch for Carrying 5 Bike Rack on 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • For a 5-bike rack, you'll want to use a 2 inch Class III trailer hitch like the # 75270 Draw-Tite you mentioned. Since you won't be pulling a trailer, you won't need a trailer wiring harness, just the hitch and a bike rack. The Hollywood Racks Traveler # HR9200 and its hitch/cable lock combo # HRLHPTC would work well on your Odyssey. Please be aware that getting 5 bikes on a rack can be a tight squeeze, you'll want to alternate the direction of each bike. I've linked you to a video...

  • Comparing The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider To the SportRack 2 Bike Rack
  • The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack - 1-1/4", 2" Hitch - Platform Style - Frame Mount # HR200Z has an anti-wobble hitch and shank rise of 5 inches. It has a weight capacity of 45 lbs per bike. The distance between the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the wheel hoop is 12-1/2 inches. It has a maximum wheel base of 60 inches. For this rack, I recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock for Hollywood Racks Commuter, Traveler, Sport Rider Bike Racks #...

  • 2-Inch Hitch-Mount Trike Carrier for Use with Miami Sun 24-Inch Traditional Trike Bicycle
  • We offer two specialized 2-inch hitch-mount bike carriers designed expressly for adult trikes and both come from the folks at Hollywood Racks. The single carrier you referenced, the Sport Rider Trike Carrier # HR1000R-TRKADP, is ideal for a single trike. This carrier accepts tires up to 3-inches wide and works with trikes with wheelbases up to 74-inches and track widths up to 36-inches (this is the distance between the rear tires' centers). Please see the linked review video. According...

  • Best Bike Rack to Carry a Salsa Warbird and EZ-SPORT AX Bike
  • I did a bit of research on your Salsa Warbird/EZ-SPORT AX bikes and believe to have found the perfect carrier for you. I recommend using the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2-Bike Carrier part # HR1000R. This rack works on both 1-1/4" and 2" trailer hitch receivers. The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider will easily allow you to carry both your Salsa Warbird and EZ-SPORT AX at the same time. The reason it is able to carry two bikes with completely different wheelbases has to do with its adjustable...

  • How To Carry 2 Recumbent Tricycles On A 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • I do have an option that will allow you to carry 2 recumbent tricycles on your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, however, you will want to place one on a hitch bike rack and one on the roof. I am not aware of a hitch mounted bike rack capable of carrying two recumbent tricycles. In order to carry a recumbent tricycle on the rear hitch receiver, you will want to use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Trike Carrier part # HR1000R-TRKADP. As long as the recumbent bike does not have a wheelbase longer...

  • Comparing Weight and Functions of Hollywood Racks Trail Rider and Swagman XC Bike Rack
  • The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200 weighs about 35 lbs. The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 is lighter at about 26 lbs. The biggest difference between the two is the Swagman rack is rated for 2 bikes at 35 lbs each and the Hollywood Trail Rider is rated for two bikes up to 45 lbs each. The Swagman rack will offer slightly less bumper clearance and the maximum wheel base is 8-1/2 inches shorter than the Hollywood Racks option. My recommendation between the two is...
