Video Transcript for Heininger Holdings Hitch Locks - Rack Specific Anti-Rattle Lock - HE6001 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number HE6001. This is the HitchMate threaded trailer hitch receiver lock for 2 inch hitches. The threaded hitch lock works as an anti-rattle lock for the Advantage Sportsrack glide away bike rack, part number 2200 and 2250 and also the HitchMate RotoHitch hitch extender, part number HE5990. The key cover here on the lock is going to help keep out dirt and moisture from the internal elements of the lock. Two keys are included. This is designed to fit a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. Our pin diameter is 5/8 inch.

To go over some of the measurements we have an overall length of 5 7 /8 inch. The distance between the lock and the head of our bolt measures 3 1/4 inches. The threaded portion measures about 2 inches. We'll go ahead and remove the lock from our bolt. The unthreaded portion also measures about 2 inches. Once you have your accessory, your bike rack or hitch extender, into the receiver tube of your hitch, you can insert the anti-rattle bolt, thread it into position and place the lock on the other side.

It's just going to snap on and lock itself. Then you can remove the key, close the lock cover and you're ready to go. With this you have the anti-rattle bolt, the lock, two keys and a lock washer. That's going to complete today's review of part number HE6001. That's the HitchMate threaded trailer hitch receiver lock for 2 inch hitches. .

Works perfectly on my old sportworks rack. Thank to the other reviewer for mentioning it worked on his. There was a gap between the lock and the hitch. I bought ten fender washers to fill the gap. For the price, it was an excellent purchase from eTrailer. 557671

I purchased this accessory to compliment the 2" anti-wobble hitch extension. I needed a way to lock my Kuat bike rack to my Jeep while moving it back away from the vehicle more than 4 inches. Both products work perfectly in every way to accomplish what I needed. 234923

Bought to replace a 5/8" diameter threaded hitch pin and lock for a 2" hitch. Lock seemed solid, but the bolt shaft narrows to 1/2" immediately after the threads, making it weaker compared to similar products. The use-able distance from bottom of the bolt head to the barrel of the lock barely clears my 2" Toyota hitch. I am returning it to try the Swagman instead. If you need the pin to narrow down to 1/2" quickly, this product may be exactly what you are looking for. 414171

Thanks for the follow up. I just wanted to let you know that this hitch pin is intended to be used for the Advantage SportsRack glideAWAY bike rack 2200, 2250 and HitchMate RotoHitch hitch extender HE5990.

Got this hitch to replace the one that I ordered wrong the first time James A at etrailer was very helpful. The lock fit good to the hitch but still got a little free play even after I tighten down perhaps my trailer hitch is old. I have not try to carry my bikes on it yet so I cannot comment on that. Shipping was pretty good although the package box was little flimsy and not much of package padding inside but I did received the item without any damage to it. I deducted a star because of high cost of return shipping charge using the return label the cost is more than half of the amount that I pay for the item that I ordered the first time. 438470

Lock and pin appear solid and well made. The dust cap on the keyway is snug and should hold up well. This was an economical choice for the replacement of a Thule pin lock that fell off due to user error (mine.) 567228

Do you have a question about this Hitch Lock?

  • Locking Hitch Pin for Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack
  • There is a solution for you, but the HitchMate Threaded Lock # HE6001 will not work with your Kuat Transfer 2 # TS02G. You'd want the Cable Locks and Hitch Lock for Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack # PTSCLK12, which includes a hitch lock that attaches to your existing threaded hitch pin. The kit also includes a pair of cable locks to secure your bikes. I've added a link to a video review of this lock set for you to check out as well.

  • Lock Recommendation for Additional Security with the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack
  • The best lock recommendation we'll be able to make for your RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10004 is going to be using the lock that comes with the rack plus a cable lock like the # CAB-10 which you can route through the safety chain loops of the hitch and through the wheels of the bike. This will give you an added layer of theft protection for the rack plus your bikes. The hitch pin lock you mentioned would not work with the hitch pin of the RockyMounts bike rack.

  • Hitch Pin Recommendation for Older Thule Swing Away Bike Rack
  • For a locking hitch pin to fit the Thule Swingaway bike rack you sent in a picture of the part # THSTL2 would the pin to use. For just the pin portion you'd want the part # 853-5917. Looks like that rack is installed in a RV hitch. You should note that Thule does not rate their bike racks for use at the rear of an RV due to the much rougher ride quality. I know that's not what you asked about but it's important that you know that.

The HitchMate hitch lock part # HE6001 that you referenced is designed for a different brand of bike rack and would not fit. The lock on the # HRLHPT would be easier to access though since it's perpendicular to the bolt instead. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Since it sounds like you don't need too much of an extension I recommend that you go with the shortest extension that we currently offer which is 11 inches long # HE6000. There is already a lot of play at the rear of a trailer due to the axle location. • I may have a solution for you, however the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver # HE6001 is not compatible with your Rola TX-102 2-Bike Rack # 59400. This is because the shank on the Rola rack features a uniquely threaded hitch pin hole that will only work with the included threaded bolt.
