Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Trailer Tongue Vertical Channel Weld-On Adaptor with 6 Bolt Holes

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at this trailer tongue vertical channel weld-on adapter. Now, this weld-on adapter converts your existing 50-degree A-frame trailer to accept vertical channel couplers. Now, the adapter has a standard jack hole, as you see here, and there are six holes to accommodate most vertical channel couplers. This does come fully welded, and this'll be ready for your application. Welding is required to install this. And let me give you some measurements here.

That vertical channel, the overall width is going to be sitting right at 3 1/2 inches across. And then the length, we're gonna be sitting right at 11 3/4 inches long. And then the bolt pattern is gonna be sitting center to center. Let me line that up here, so you can see. Looks like it's gonna be two inches center to center on those, on that bolt pattern.

Now, the outer rear width is gonna be sitting right at 11 inches. And then front to back, we're sitting right at 7 1/2 inches. Now, the gross towing weight is 20,000 pounds, and the tongue weight is 2,000 pounds. And this is made in the USA. And that's gonna conclude our look at this adapter today.

Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

  • How Does Shocker Hitch Air Cushioned Trailer Coupler - Adjustable Channel Install on Travel Trailer
The Shocker Hitch Air Cushioned Trailer Coupler part # SHK73RR will require an adjustable channel on the trailer in order to mount. An example of this is the Trailer Tongue Vertical Channel Weld-On Adaptor part # SHK95RR which requires removing the old coupler and welding this one on. This setup isn't very common for most travel trailers so if you don't want to do a bunch of modifying to the trailer I recommend going with the Shocker Hitch HD Air Cushioned 2-Ball Mount part # SHK95VR which...

I wish we had the axle configuration you are looking for but we do not. Best option would be to find a local trailer shop to you who can order in axles custom. We can help with everything else you mentioned though. Hub/drum # 42866UC3-EZ comes with bearings For brake assemblies part # 23-464-465 are correct and self adjusting For a 7k axle leaf spring we have the # e64SR For a equalizer kit # K71-359-00 U-bolt kit part # CE23003

  • Is There a Way To Replace The Coupler on a Travel Trailer For One That Would Be Longer For Clearance
The only way I can see increasing the distance for your Coupler # CA-5400-B without major frame modification would be to cut it off and weld in the Shocker Hitch Channel # SHK95RR so you would be able to use their Air Cushioned Coupler # SHK73RR. I do understand this is still a major undertaking and may not work if you are using a weight distribution hitch. If you can send me some additional photos of your setup and truck information I may be able to come up with an easier solution.
