Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Fabrication Parts - Receiver Tube - E-9 Review

Today we're going to review Part Number E-9. This is the Curt 6" combo bar with the 2" trailer hitch receiver. This does have a 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver opening. You can see right there. This is a hitch fabrication part, it is designed to be welded on to your vehicle or trailer, and allow you to install a 2" ball mount into there. It does have an outer dimension; the outer dimension on it is 2 1/2", and the forged collar on the very opening area right here, the width on that would actually measure 3".

Total overall length from the very front to the very back is going to be right at 6". It is sized and punched to fit all common weight distribution hitch ball mounts, or utility ball mounts. Has a 5/8" diameter pin hole, and it is a raw finish. The reason they do that, it's better for welding, because there's less prep work involved. That should do it for the review on Part Number E-9. This is the Curt 6" combo bar with the 2" trailer hitch receiver. .

I have purchased numerous items from etrailer.com this year for my truck. There shipping speed is fantastic for buyers who want to move ahead with their projects as fast as possible. I especially like their connection with Curt and that they have access to Curt's unpainted steel towing parts for fabrication and welding. 455155

It sounds like you are trying to use this as a reducer in the OEM hitch on your Chevy..If thats the case, this part is meant to be used as a fabrication part in order to build a receiver hitch. Its not intended to be an adapter or a reducer sleeve. If you were needing a reducer sleeve to reduce a 2-12 inch receiver opening down to a 2 inch, Id recommend using part # BWRHXA2182
B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2"

As with years of previous items ordered from e-trailer, this one is of outstanding quality and exactly as described. It arrived quickly and the price was good. I always search e-trailer for needed parts as theirs are reasonably priced, arrive quickly and they have a very high percentage of the trailer related parts which I need. 595907

Ask the Experts about this Curt Hitch Fabrication Parts
Do you have a question about this Hitch Fabrication Part?

  • Options to Add 2-Inch Receiver Tube to Car Lift for Use with Winch Mount
  • We have not before had another customer inquire about your specific application but we do have hitch fabrication parts that might work for you. Please see the linked page. Based on the substantial material of your lift a weld-on part like the 12-inch Curt Combo Bar # E-11 or the 6-inch # E-9 might be the most direct way to add the 2-inch receiver you want for your winch mount. I suggest making a call to the manufacturer of the lift system just to make sure they have no issues with...

  • Comparing Buyers Products Receiver Tube 337RT25806 and Curt Combo Bar E-9
  • The Buyers Products Receiver Tube # 337RT25806 and the Curt Combo Bar # E-9 are essentially identical items. Both are raw steel 2-inch receiver tubes intended for weld-on fabrication applications. Both are 6-inches long with a reinforced collar. For both the actual trailer weight capacity depends on the specific installation.

  • Where to Mount Winch To Pull Vehicles Up Onto Car Hauler
  • Since hitch adapters like what you mentioned end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by half the best solution is to mount the winch to the trailer so that you can avoid all of that. You could purchase a Hitch Receiver tube and have it welded to the the trailer frame like part # E-9. With a piece like this welded to the frame, you could use the Winch Plate # 6495 mount to attach your winch. Then you could use the winch part # 1220210 to pull things up onto your...

  • 4-Bike Rack for Use on Deck of 4 x 6 Utility Trailer
  • You do have a unique bike transport requirement and I see why you came to etrailer! You are correct that bike carriers for use on utility trailers are rare animals. Truck bed racks like the 4-bike Topline # UG2500-4 might be usable - the bike wheels stay on - if you have or can create a place to secure the mounting clamp. Since it sounds like you are capable of some fabrication I do have a suggestion that is a little outside the box but that gives you the flexibility to choose a...

  • What Are the Gross Towing and Tongue Weight Capacities of Curt Combo Bar # E-11
  • The Curt Combo Bar with 2-Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-11 does not carry a specific tongue weight or towing capacity because these ratings are entirely dependent on the specific installation. The surfaces it is welded to and the manner of installation will be the determining factors in its actual capacity. I verified with Curt that this item carries no specific ratings since it is a general-purpose item like their 6-inch # E-9 and the Reese # 11029. These items also are not specifically...

  • Distance from Center of Pin Hole to End of Receiver on Curt Combo Bar E-9
  • According to my calculations the distance from the center of the pin hole to the far end of the shank on Curt combo bar # E-9 is 3-1/2 inches. The bar is 6 inches long overall so from the center to the face of the receiver is 2-1/2 inches.

  • Welding a 2 Inch Receiver to a Steel Plate on a 1998 GMC C/K Series Pickup Truck
  • Reducer sleeve # 58102 is made of steel. The same steel used to make trailer hitches. The wall thickness is 1/4 but varies slightly from sleeve to sleeve. This reducer sleeve is not really meant for the purpose you want. I have a better option for you. You could use a hitch fabrication part such as # E-9, # E-11, # 2852, # 80818, or # E17. The ones that are raw steel would be much better for welding and they are designed for applications like you are describing.

  • Receiver Hitch for Rear of Jayco 22 Foot Camper
  • There are a few solutions for adding a receiver to the rear of your camper. You will first need to contact Jayco to determine the capacity of your bumper. If the bumper is steel, and has adequate capacity, you could have the 6 inch combo bar you referenced welded in place. However, this piece is sold as a fabrication part only and it would be up to you or the welder to do the engineering work to determine if the receiver will have the necessary capacity. Another option would be to...

With a rolling load (your vehicle) on a 17 degree slope (typical range for a trailer ramp) the winch will have a 7,825 pound rolling load capacity. For trailer mounting these winches are mounted directly to the trailer frame with bolts that go through the mounting plate provided on the winch. If you would like the winch to be removable you could mount it to the SuperWinch Hitch Mounted...

  • Can a Rear Mount Trailer Hitch be Used on the Front of a 1996 Nissan 4x4 Pickup Truck
  • I do have a solution for you but you will not be able to use a rear mount hitch on the front of a vehicle. Some trailer hitch manufacturers we carry do not give us the hitch dimensions because it is proprietary information. But I can tell you that the hitches you have listed are not going to fit at the front of your 1996 Nissan pickup. The frame is narrower at the front but beyond that it would require modification to the hitch and/or the vehicle that would void the hitch warranty and...

  • The Combo Bar 6 inch with 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # E-9 is designed as a fabrication part to build your own receiver hitch. Welding, by an experienced Welder is recommended for this part. I cannot make welding recommendations for these parts as there are too many variables involved such as types of steel used, welding material used, welding equipment and settings on the welding equipment, not to mention safety concerns. I wouldn't take the risk since the power washer is likely pretty heavy and if the straps failed, it could crush the truck bed where the ball mount is attached.
