Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Houston Texans NFL Tailgater 2" Trailer Hitch Cover

Today we're going to review part number AH-40276. This is the Houston Texans NFL tailgater two-inch trailer hitch cover made by the Alfred Hitch Cover Company. This is a durable, cast, noncorrosive alloy construction. On the very front, you can see it uses a weather hardened enamel color fill to get the nice bright colors of the Texans logo on the front. It does come, if you notice, the built-in bottle opener so when you're out tail gating, you can open your bottles that have the bottle caps on them just by putting it right in there and popping it open. It is rattle proof by using the included foam gasket that goes on before you install it into your hitch receiver to help make it rattle proof and to help seal it to keep any dirt or grime from getting inside your hitch receiver opening. This is designed to fit on two-inch trailer hitch openings.

It does also come with the two different size wire inserts and when you do install them, you just choose one of the wire inserts. I'm going to show you how to do that in a minute here. It does require a pin and a clip or a hitch lock for installation, that we do sell those items separately and that will hold the pin and clip or the hitch lock will hold this into place on your hitch receiver, and I do have an example. We do list the pin and clip and a hitch lock as a related product that you can purchase on the product page for this hitch cover. I do happen to have one of those related products.

It's the PC3 pin and clip. I'm going to show how this installs. Basically what this will do is the reason they give you two wire inserts is because one is shorter than the other, so you choose the correct one and then on the very back of the hitch cover, you'll notice there's four tabs that fit into the two-inch opening. On two of the tabs, the holes are about a quarter of an inch lower than the holes on the two other tabs. The reason they've got two different size holes and the two different wire inserts is because the hitch pin location on some hitches will vary in distance so you will have to choose the correct wire insert and which holes they'll fit in for your application. What I'm going to do here is I've got an example right here of a two-inch receiver opening right here. I've already ahead of time found out which ones work in there and it's the shorter wire insert on the holes that are at the lowest point.

What you want to do is take the foam gasket, put it in to help seal it. You're going to use the shorter one and put it on the lower holes. Just go ahead and insert it into those holes and now you'll see you've got your insert in here that the hitch pin will go through to hold it into place. Again, you only need to use one of these inserts. You do not need to use both of them.

You go up to there, make sure your hitch cover is up in the right position, push that clip together, and then go ahead and just push your hitch cover in up against there. What has happened is this insert has gone past the hitch pin hole, so you take your pin, take the clip off. We'll go ahead and put our pin through here. You'll notice what you'll have to do is just line it up, push it through the wire insert and then push it through the other side. Go ahead and put your clip on and then if you'll notice, your hitch cover is very secure. It doesn't move an inch. Very quick easy installation. Then to remove it, just pull the clip, pull the hitch pin all the way out. Then you can just remove your hitch cover and you have access to your hitch receiver opening.
