Today, we're going to be taking a look at part number CR-211. This is the Ford trailer hitch receiver cover from Pilot Automotive Hitch Covers. This is an officially licensed product. It's designed to fit inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter and two inch by two inch trailer hitches. It's going to come with the hitch plugs for both setups. I went ahead and installed the two inch setup for our demonstration today, but hitch covers are going to add a clean-finish look to your hitch.
They're going to help keep dirt and grime out of the hitch, which will ultimately help prevent rust and corrosion to the hitch. The color is weather-hardened enamel filled, which will keep the color looking good for many years. That's going to be a metal face plate. It's going to be triple chrome coated for superior rust and corrosion protection. The hitch plugs are going to be made from a durable ADS plastic construction. On the two inch setup, it's going to offer three pinhole locations, so two on this side and then one right here.
So if you want to use the one that's closest to the face plate, all you have to do is take off the plugs and rotate them, and then you can use that one for your hitch. On the inch and a quarter setup, it's going to offer two pinhole locations, and you simply just choose whatever pinhole works best for your particular application. It's going to come with a foam gasket for each setup. That's designed to help prevent rattle between the hitch and the hitch cover. To get this installed, you just slide this portion in the receiver tube of your hitch, push it in until you get whatever pinhole lined up that you need to with the pinhole in your hitch, and then secure with a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. The two inch setup will accept a standard five-eighth inch diameter pin, and then the inch and a quarter setup will accept a standard half-inch diameter pin. We're going to take a look at the face real quick. That's going to give us an overall length measurement of eight inches, with a height measurement of three inches, and again, this is a really simple installation. I'll go ahead and show you how it installs. All you have to do is take it and slide it into the receiver tube of your hitch, choose the pinhole that you need, and then secure it with a hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock. That's going to do it for today's look at part number CR-211..

The Chrome Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover - CR-211 looks good. However the plastic receiver (used the 2" parts) allows it to rattle in the receiver (OEM Ford hitch) because the foam pad is too small for the space between the cover and receiver. I had an older etrailer Chrome Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover that had a metal receiver insert and it worked very well, even without the foam pad, but the cover got old looking over time. I wish I would have saved the old metal insert and swapped the new plastic one out.
