Video Transcript for Pilot Brake and Tail Light Hitch Receiver Cover Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Pilot break and trailer hitch receiver light. Part number CR-007A This two inch by two inch hitch cover provides all the benefits of a regular hitch cover, keeping out dirt and debris with the added benefit of lighting up for safety. It lights up when either your running lights are on, or when the breaks are depressed. It's constructed of a durable ABS plactic and includes a foam gasket to help reduce rattle. It plugs into your existing four pull connection. The incandescent bulb is easily replaced. Now that we've gon over the features I'll go ahead and show you how easy it is to install.

You'll need to provide your own pin and clip. If you don't have one that's okay, you can find one at our website at part number PC3. Let's go ahead and feed it into our receiver tube and we'll line up our pin holes. That looks pretty good. Then we'll take our pin and clip and slide that through.

Put our clip in place. Then we can grab our four pull connection and we'll just plug it into our four pull outlet. Now lets try it out. Works great, now lets try our breaks. That's going to complete our look at the Pilot break and trailer hitch receiver light, part number CR-007A.

You can find this and everything else right here at etrailer.com What's up Man.

Have had several of these for both cars. Is a little vulnerable to dragging thru ditches, driveways, etc. Reall7 lights your rear, better alerting vehicles behind. Great product~ 654198

This was my first purchase with etrailer.com and I was very impressed with their communication and service. The trailer hitch light was a snap to install and works perfectly. It's cool having four brake lights on my truck. I highly recommend this product. Thanks, etrailer!! 107658

Sturdy unit, fits nicely in my 2-in. e-trailer hitch. The only negative is that I wish the packaging came with instructions on how to replace the bulb when the time comes. I made sure to purchase this one, and not the original that flashes with the right turn signal as well. This unit does NOT (I’ve tested to make sure). 715028

First time customer, first time writing a review like this. My order was mistakenly swapped with someone else's. Ok, mistakes happen. Company re-shipped item when notified but the shipping clock had to start over from ground zero - they would not, to any extent, expedite the order to try and cover their mistake. Then we received an automated invitation link to write this review, presumably unaware my order hasn't even arrived yet. Next time other sites 481216

Ask the Experts about this Pilot Automotive Hitch Covers

  • Are Replacement Foam Gaskets Available for 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Covers
We have a thin foam gasket that you could use, # AMG-FM. with a 2 inch hitch cover. They are thinner than the gasket that came with hitch cover # CR-007A so you may need more than 3. We also have neoprene pad # BWTS35020 that normally fits on B&W 2 inch ball mounts but could be used for a hitch cover as well.

  • Recommended Wiring for the Pilot Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A
Pilot does not offer a wiring diagram for the Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # CR-007A, but the wiring is pretty simple. The hitch cover has a 4-way flat connector that was designed to work with typical 2-wire systems, meaning the brake light and turn signals are combined on the same circuit. The hitch cover has a converter to prevent the turn signal function from reaching the light. In other words, the turn signal function will be reaching the hitch cover connector,...

  • Bypassing F-150 Trailer Wiring to Use of Brake/Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A
It sounds like your truck has a factory 7-way installed. If you wish to have a 4-pole wiring harness on your F-150 to operate a lighted hitch cover such as the Pilot # CR-007A, and have that be completely independent of the truck's internal trailer package wiring, then you can install a simple 4-pole harness to use just for the hitch cover light. Draw-Tite part # 18252 is a 4-pole flat harness that splices into your taillight wiring using the included quick-splice connectors. A video...

  • Availability of a Brake Light Hitch Cover that Does Not Blink with Turn Signals
The right turn signal will come on with the Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # CR-007. The reason is that it uses the right turn signal/brake circuit which is a combined circuit. However, Pilot did make a cover that will not blink when you turn on the signals. It is # CR-007A. It has a converter in line with the wiring that filters out anything but brake and running lights. It is designed for 2 inch trailer hitches.

  • Hitch Mounted Third Brake Light Recommendation for a 2 inch Hitch
Yes we do, it sounds like you would want the Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A. This is designed to fit a 2 inch hitch and will plug in to a trailer 4-way connector to provide you with an additional brake light. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • How to Install Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A on 7-Way
The Pilot Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A that you referenced has a 4-pole flat trailer connector for making its electrical connection to your Silverado. You can use an adapter like Pollak # PK12716 to allow connection to your Silverado's 7-way trailer socket. If you want to add some length for stress relief you could instead use the Hopkins Heavy-Duty Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47075.

The Bully Light-Up Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A will connect to a 4-pole flat trailer wiring connector on your 2013 Ridgeline. If your truck does not have a working 4-pole flat trailer connector it is easy to add one using part # 118400. This wiring harness simply plugs in at your truck's taillights and no cutting or splicing of wires is required. If you have a different type of trailer connector on the truck please let me know so I can recommend a suitable adapter. I have...

  • Will Trailer Hitch Cover Light Cause Trailer Warning Message on 2018 Ford
We do get a number of questions from people getting warning messages about their trailer wiring when towing with newer Ford trucks. It's normally because the truck senses the trailer like it's supposed to but the trailer has LED lights which draw less power than incandescent lights and therefore the truck thinks there's a problem because of the lower power draw. Basically the truck thinks a light is out even though it isn't. The trailer hitch cover, part # CR-007A, is an incandescent...

You may have already done this but if not start here because you don't want to be troubleshooting the light when the issue is on the vehicle or the other way around. Just pop the lens off from the front bottom right hand side and the bulb can be easily replaced. You may also be interested in a receiver lock to secure the brake light in your trailer hitch. • Is the Pilot Brake Light Hitch Cover # CR-007 Suppose to Flash When Right Turn Signal is Applied
On a hitch cover like the Pilot Brake Light Hitch Cover, part # CR-007, that uses just the green and white wires, the right turn signal is flashing because the hitch cover is using the right turn signal/brake circuit which is a combined circuit. This will happen on a hitch cover that only uses the two wires. However, Pilot does make a cover that will not blink when you turn on the signals. It is the Pilot Brake Light Hitch Cover, part # CR-007A. It has a converter in line with the wiring...

  • Pilot Brake and Tail Light Hitch Cover # CR-007A Will Not Turn Off
If the Pilot Brake and Tail Light Hitch Cover, # CR-007A, never goes out, then it is constantly receiving power from one of the tail light circuits coming from the vehicle. To begin troubleshooting, make sure your vehicle is turned off and the vehicle lights are off. If the hitch light stays on with the vehicle off and lights off, there is a problem. I recommend using a circuit tester, like our # 40376, to test each of the pins on the 4-way connector on your Sorento with the vehicle...

What you described is normal operation for the Pilot Hitch Cover part # CR-007 that you referenced.
