Save your GMC MultiPro or Chevy Multi-Flex tailgate from damage with this sensor. Working in sync with the truck's electronics, the sensor prevents the inner tailgate from folding down when a ball mount or other accessory is in your hitch.

The cover piece is plastic and the small tabs that the cover pivots on broke so the cover is no longer functional.
Great design, cheap plastic. I put this cover on in August. The cheap plastic cover broke in October rendering it useless. If they can fix the cheap quality of the product, my one star review would be 5, no doubt.
I don't know why GMC don't install this feature to all their trucks. I think it is a great ideal. I fill a lot better knowing that I are anyone else can drop the step down on my tail gate. Thanks,
Easy to install. Could be made of sturdier stuff for the price. All plastic construction but works well. Does what it’s supposed to. Magnetic switch in the housing and magnet in the door that closes over the receiver tube.
The Hitch cap does work as designed. My experience though is somewhat mixed. Easy plug and play but my cover never folded straight up, consequently when I went over a dip,the cap broke at a hinge..
I ended up buying a second one no parts available and tech insisted i was wrong, installed only the broken part and this cap does fold straight up out of the way. Would I recommend the product...hmmmm....yes... clean, sleek and it soes work
The day after I bought my 22 GMC 3500 I ordered your product to save my tailgate. It works perfect and fits great. Finshed off the hitch receiver awesome. Easy install and imo the best money spent. Highly recommend if anyone is looking to save your tail gate from a unfortunate accident.
Etrailer delivered as described. I chose the Curt over others as I did not want to splice wires. Splices may develop problems in time and in this day and age of plug and play i thought it’s a better solution. My only concern is that running through a car wash might cause problems with the flip up hitch cover being torn off. Time will tell.
Really like the way this unit protects my truck from my absent minded activation of the tailgate step when I shouldn’t. One thing I would like to see is a hitch stabilizer to reduce the looseness of my 2” hitches in the adapter to 2 1/2” hitch. Have tried some “standard” hitch tighteners but they all interfere with the cap sensor unit. Requested that Curt provide a solution with no response back.
My order was originally scheduled for delivery on Saturday and actually showed up today on Thursday so now I can get my trailer back together and hit the road this weekend

Says it works on 2021 and newer. Not true, I put it on my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 and would make tailgate lock out on me, I called Curt and they said it’s not designed to work with 2022 trucks.
The hitch sensor functions great. The plastic cover, not so much,
When using a trailer hitch , the cover does not flex up enough and has snapped off breaking the plastic hinge. This happened going over a dip where the truck and trailer did a V while going across.
Since then the hitch cover has been ripped off by a car wash. Because of the broken clip. Both clips are broken and I must remove and store the cover while using a hitch.
Still working great. No trailer hitch dents in my tailgate.
Mine is erratic in its operation. Most of the time it does not prevent the upper tailgate from opening when the sensor cover is in the open position (ie. a hitch assembly is installed in the vehicle receiver). That is exactly the operation that this device is supposed to prevent. It also seems to create some confusion with my truck as after it incorrectly allowing the upper tailgate to open, at times it will not ally my full tailgate to open even though the tail lights blink etc in response to me pushing the full tailgate button on the tailgate. I think this device creates a false sense of security the way it operate in my case. Perhaps the magnetic switch in the cover is malfunctioning.

Can you please tell me what the year, make, and model of the vehicle is?
Concept is good. Device works well initially. Second trip one side of the hinge (plastic) that holds the cap broke while driving down the highway. The cover is open when a hitch is installed. Not a robust design. If the cap fails completely, the inner tailgate will not open.
I installed this a year ago, and it has worked flawlessly. My truck is always outside and the winter in Nebraska was very cold this year, but the plastic has held up. I have towed with it around 10 times in the last year, so the cover does not get operated every day, but it is still like new. I doubt it would survive something hitting it, but with normal operation, it is as sturdy as it needs to be. Overall, the installation was easy, and it does what it is supposed to do. I can't ask for more than that.
Works as advertised. Fairly simple to install.Instructions fairly easy to follow. Tools needed are outlined in the instructions.
Product was an easy install about 30 minutes and works like a champ. Only issue I have is unplugging the outer latch . Theres no reason for that.
A well-designed product that fixes the multi-tailgate issue with the trailer hitches installed so that you don't smash in your tailgate. This was the best system in my opinion as you don't have to cut or splice any wires. Takes a little bit of effort to install but well worth it.

It works great. Im glad that I purchased this product. All of the connections using factory wiring and no splicing.
Well, I just bought a new to me 2020 GMC sierra SLT and that’s when I found out about the problem of damaging the tailgate with the trailer hitches. Well I shopped around and I looked at the other ones and they all worked based off whether or not you had the pin in and that is not enough security, this one works off of the cap or cover being open. In my opinion you could still damage your tailgate on the other ones because you may have forgot to put the pin in but on this one if that caps open the top tailgate will not drop.So in theory, this is the best tailgate protection. I installed it today and It worked perfectly immediately . I think I installed it in 15 minutes . Now let’s see what I think about it in a year.

The switch sometimes indicates that the hitch is present when the hitch is out. It also intermittently allows the inner tailgate to open with a hitch present. It is not 100 reliable anymore.
