Today we're going to be taking a look at the University Of California 2 inch hitch cover from AMG. The hitch cover is going to allow you to show you your school pride, it's going to add a clean finished look to your hitch, and it's going to help keep dirt and grime out of the receiver tube of your hitch. The hitch cover is made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice black powder-coat finish on it which is going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. Here at the front face, we have a chrome-plated metal emblem. It's going to feature a nice rust-proof and fade-proof design. This product is made right here in the USA.
Here on the backside it's going to feature a foam gasket, it just slides over the piece that goes into the hitch. That gasket is really going to help reduce rattling between the hitch and hitch gasket. This is an officially licensed product. To get it fully installed and secure in the hitch, it does require a hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock. Those items are sold separately but if you're in need of one, you can find them right here at etrailer.com. The pinholes on the hitch cover will accept a standard 5/8 inch diameter pin. Now a few measurements to go over with you real quick.
Here at the hitch cover face, it's going to give us an overall width of about 5 inches. It's going to give us an overall height measurement of about 3.5 inches. Then the distance that we have from the back of that foam pad to the center of the hitch pin hole, it's going to be pretty close to 2.5 inches. Now this is designed for a 2 inch by 2 inch hitch, very simple installation. Slide it into the receiver tube of your hitch, line up the pinholes and then secure it using the hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock. That's going to do it for today's look at the University of California 2 inch hitch cover from AMG.

I received it on Fri, drove up to Tahoe on Mon and hit the slopes on Tues. The logo fell off when I hit my hiking boot (light, day hiker type) against the cover to knock off some snow. I wasn't even wearing the boot, it was in my hand. I didn't even hit the logo itself, or bang it hard. The main receiver cover is otherwise well made and fits snugly.
Cal receiver showed up on time and in perfect shape. my son graduated and played football with them. this is my 1965 Chevy C20 ,it's a work truck and deserved a new shinny part. thanks E-trailer.
When you Google "customer service" etrailer has to be first in line! They care and they want it right! In addition, my new hitch sleeve insert/cover is the highest quality I have seen. Before I took it out of the box, I could tell that this was a high quality product. The colors are bright and the fit is perfect. The foam seal to keep water out of the hitch was an unexpected nice touch. It looks great on my truck. Be advised, it does not come with any kind of retaining device, you will need a hitch pin to keep it in place. I purchased a locking pin because something as nice as this would probably get stolen.

This was not checked for quality prior to shipping from the manufactor or the seller. My logo is off center at the bottomand over to the passenager side. Also my logo is crooked tilting up toward the passenager side. Tried calling customer service but the line has not been manned since I recieved this product. Overall a disappointing experience.

Did a lot of research on this product and it came through with flying colors. I ordered this product and one other from another site. This cover was superior in thickness size and chrome. Also the pin opening is large enough for standard 4" pins. If you are considering this product I suggest you don't wait. As for the company, great service. I was contacted shortly after the purchase, tracked the item and was contact about satisfaction after delivery. Outstanding. Will not return item but with their attention to detail I am sure if there were anything of issue the company would be on top of it. Thank you I will be ordering from you again.

For the price I expected better quality. The powder coating seems to be okay. However, there are pits in the chrome plating of the USAF logo. The pits are not noticeable at a distance, so I didn't return it. Now, as an afterthought, I'm hoping it doesn't rust. Apparently there's not a standard distance to the pin hole in 2" receivers. I had to add 1/2 inch of gasket material in addition to the gasket provided to stabilize the cover in my receiver.
