The cargo carrier performed well for me and overall was well built. My one caveat was the mesh flooring wasn't as stiff as I hoped but I solved that by installing a plywood floor and painting it black so it blended well. 628207

Overall I like it now. It's very sturdy and I like the height of the walls, I've used it a lot on my Nissan Rogue. It had 2 issues though. 1 is that it didn't fit in a 1 1/4" receiver. It was too big and I had to take off all the black paint covering it which took me like an hour. Once I got that off it fit well. 2 is that it comes with a hitch pin that screws in and a little hex wrench. This is cools in that it really locks the basket in there but it took FOREVER to screw it in the first time with the tool provided. The next time I got a ratchet set and it took about minutes. A standard pin and clip would have been fine. It would get 5 stars if it fit in the receiver out of the box. I probably really shortened the useful lifespan of this product by taking off the layer covering the metal. 717141

Comments
Because of the tolerances in paint and powder coat, it can happen that there is too much coating on both a shank and hitch receiver to allow an accessory to be installed. You had a great idea to remove the excess coating on the shank. To help make sure your cargo carrier stays in great shape, I recommend covering the bare metal with a rust-preventative spray paint or clear coat. I have also linked a help article with some rust prevention tips.

Pretty easy to setup and install. The reason I didn't give it five stars was because it seemed like a sweet deal for something that is supposed to retail for $250. Its cheap and flimsy and at $80 it's priced accordingly. 694349

Took a little grunting to finish the construction but that was more on me than the product. Pleased with the quality and am looking forward to the added cargo room on my travels. 797502

Great price and very quick shipping. Have used the cargo carrier once so far and it seems to be very stable. Will be making a long distance trip soon which will put it through its paces. So far, very pleased. 733389

I like the design of this Rack, as it will be used to transport a electric bicycle behind a fifth wheel RV. I did not like not having a assembly instruction manual included and having to stop and down load one off of the computer. 732800

My first order from etrailer.com. I ordered a Cargo Carrier for our trailer, so we can carry our 2 generators while travelling. The order arrived on time, in good condition, and was easy to assemble for my husband, even though there were no assembly instructions included. I noticed before ordering this carrier that a couple reviewers had some difficulty, or had to follow a YouTube video, but no problems for my husband. Have not installed it yet, or travelled yet, so can't review for that, but do expect it to be sturdy and reliable. Great, quick service from eTrailer. Thank You. 728418

You have to look up directions on line on how to assemble. Type it the www. Or it will try to give you a fake site my PC warned me. It was easier to line up with only 1 person standing it up on the side instead of laying it down. I seen other articles that said about the grid and dropped in plywood to stiffen it up I think I will do the same it will also keep my stuff cleaner and dryer 721190

Ask the Experts about this Rola Hitch Cargo Carrier

  • Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 120 lb Motorcycle with Class II Hitch
The best solution would be the 20 inch by 60 inch Rola cargo carrier part # 59530 which fits Class II hitches like what you have and has a 500 lb capacity. The total weight of the carrier is 33 lbs which gives you 317 lbs of capacity left over for the weight of your motorcycle. This does not have a ramp that comes with nor is one made specifically for it. So if you're okay with lifting the bike you could lift it onto the carrier or you could use a ramp like the # 288-07474 to easily get...

  • Mobility Scooter Carrier for a 2015 Buick Encore
I'd recommend buying the strongest hitch available, which for the 2015 Buick Encore is the Draw Tite Class II, part # 36554. This hitch will provide you with a 1-1/4 inch receiver and a tongue weight capacity of 300 pounds, allowing you to carry the mobility scooter and carrier on the rear, provided it has a 1-1/4 inch hitch. You will want to verify your vehicle's total capacity with the manufacturer or owner's manual. In this particular situation, you definitely do not want to...

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier for Rear of Camper
We do indeed have some cargo carrying solutions that will work great for you, but everything we offer would mount using a hitch receiver, not by bolting directly to the bumper. If your camper has a 4 inch square channel bumper, an inexpensive receiver like # E-100 could be used. Another option would be a frame mounted hitch, like # C13701 for frame members 18-51 inches apart or # C13704, for frame members 22-66 inches apart. A frame mounted hitch would provide the strongest installation. Once...

  • Carrying Capacity of the Rola Packer Cargo Carrier
The overall capacity of the Rola Packer Cargo Carrier, part # 59530 will be limited by the lowest capacity of your vehicle, trailer hitch, or the carrier itself. Whatever the lowest capacity is will include the 33 pounds of the carrier. For instance, if you have a vehicle with a 200 pound tongue weight capacity, you'll be able to carry 167 pounds of gear in the carrier. The carrier's overall maximum weight is 300 pounds for Class I and II 1-1/4 inch hitches, and for Class II, III,...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1998 Subaru Legacy GT and Yamaha YZ250 Dirt Bike Motorcycle
For your 1998 Subaru Legacy GT, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12270 is the best hitch option you have for tongue weight and is a 1-1/4 inch receiver. We don't have a motorcycle carrier for that size receiver, so I recommend using the 20x60 Rola Packer Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs # 59530. Then you can use the Erickson Motorcycle and ATV Tie-Downs w Soft Ties and TCS Buckles - 1"x6' - 400 lbs - Qty 2 # EM05729 to secure your bike to the carrier. You may...

We have several hitch mounted cargo carriers that are rated for use on a Class I hitch such as those available for the 2015 Honda Civic like the popular Draw-Tite hitch # 24763. At 20 x 60 inches the Rola carrier # 59530 is the larger one available. But since the Civic sits low to the ground I recommend going with Curt carrier # C18110. This carrier has a rise in the shank for better ground clearance. The Curt carrier offers about 6 square feet of cargo space, if you just measure length...

For your 2014 Chevy Cruze LTZ 1.4L, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24882. Then I recommend the 20x60 Rola Packer Cargo Carrier # 59530. This carrier weighs 33 lbs and will allow you the flat surface area needed for your 1978 Puch Maxi moped. These weights will allow you to safely transport your moped. In addition, I recommend the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125 to reduce movement in the hitch. I also recommend the soft...

  • How Much Does the 20x60 Rola Packer Cargo Carrier Part # 59530 Weigh
The 20x60 Rola Packer Cargo Carrier part # 59530 has a shipping weight of 33 lbs so the carrier likely weighs around 30 lbs while empty. This is actually a great choice for the back of a 5th wheel as it has a fixed shank so it is approved for this use whereas others with a folding shank are not. I have attached a review video for you as well.

  • Electric Bike Rack Recommendation for Class I Trailer Hitch of 2016 Kia Soul
A cargo carrier won't be ideal for carrying a heavy E-bike as the loading and securing will be very difficult. Your best option is a bike rack specifically designed for electric bikes and for fitting the Class I hitch you have like the Thule EasyFold part # TH903202. This fits the hitch you have, has a rise built into the shank, and has ramps for easy bike loading/unloading. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

It is possible to use a hitch like Brophy adapter # HTAD which designed to adapt Class I and Class II 1-1/4" hitch receiver to 2" receivers. However, it does cut the tongue weight of your hitch in half. For example: If your 1-1/4" is a class II hitch the tongue weight rating is most likely 350 lbs so the new tongue weight rating would be 175 lbs and you still want to factor in the weight of the Curt Carrier # C18153 itself which is 70 lbs. Now you are left with 105 lbs of cargo you can...

  • Using Rola # 59530 Cargo Carrier on Rear of Pop-Up Camper
I'm usually pretty leery about recommending folks to use a cargo carrier on the rear of a trailer, for two reasons. 1) The suspension of a trailer is more stiff than that of a passenger vehicle 2) Trailers usually have a longer rear overhang (distance between rear axle and rear bumper) Both these elements mean that any load carried on the rear of a trailer will be subjected to more rattling, bumping and jarring than if it were carried on the rear of a passenger vehicle.
