Video Transcript for Rola Hitch Cargo Carrier Test Course

Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering. As others have mentioned the shipping box was a bit beat up but arrived quickly with all parts and minimal scratches in the powder coating. Ordered on a Sunday afternoon and half the order arrived on Wed, the rest on Thursday. Setup was quick and I did purchase washers for the rear bolts to give a bit more coverage. I also ordered the Rola LED light kit and cargo net. Both fit perfectly. This thing is strong! Prior to loading I stood on the carrier while on the hitch and jumped up and down. Barley any flex and I am not a light guy by any means. There was very little play once in the receiver and I did not notice any rattles or excess noise on our week long 600 mile road trip. I did not use any type of anti rattle device. With the cargo on the back the passengers and dogs loved having the extra room to move around. As all of my vehicles have hitches so this will be a great addition any time we need extra room or carrying capacity. One thing to note if you are not ordering any pins or locks is that a 5/8 inch pin does not work, you need to have a 1/2 inch pin. Luckily I had both so I was able to use my existing hitch receiver lock. I included pictures of it installed on a 1994 GMC G2500 van. I was able to open both rear doors before loading although the door mounted full size spare did eat up a bit of room. The hitch on the van is bent from an accident by the previous owner so on my application the rack does tilt in towards the vehicle a bit. This is solely due to my hitch, not the rack itself. I did try it on my pickup and it sat nice and level. If you are looking for a cargo carrier I highly recommend the Rola. 414706

Comments

Brian, any time a hitch or hitch accessory has been involved in an accident, it should be replaced to remedy any unseen damage. Heres a link to both the hitches for the 1994 GMC van. You would just need to filter by whether you have the step bumper:

After reading reviews for products for a couple months, I settled on and purchased the Rola Cargo Carrier (Item 59502) along with the Tuffbak (Item 59119) and the LED Light Kit (Item 59516) for a recent trip to gulf coast of Florida with my family. Typically with my wife and myself, we don't need the extra room - but I took my parents with us, so needed extra cargo room. This setup worked great on the back of my Toyota 4Runner. The back hatch will not open with the cargo carrier loaded down, but the back window rolled down in the 4Runner making getting to stuff in the cargo area a breeze. As some others had mentioned, the packaging on the carrier (from Rola not etrailer) could be somewhat more sturdy as part of mine had some scratches that I covered with some paint. The carrier itself is incredibly sturdy and love the design. Another reason why I purchased this carrier was being able to add the LED lights which was a great feature. I did not use the hitch pin that came with the product, as I needed one that would lock. Using a locking hitch pin, I also added a hitch stabilizer and had no issues with it moving. I assume using the pin that comes with it would keep you from having to use the stabilizer but I preferred the pin would lock. The lights installed easily and plugged right into the car and worked flawlessly. The bag says its water resistant and not waterproof, however, we had pretty substantial rain on the way home and nothing in the bag got wet. I also added a master lock thru the zipper pulls on the bag and an additional ratcheting tie down. I have zero complaints and it worked great. I had to contact etrailer because one package was delivered but the other was not and I only had one tracking number. They were quick to send me an additional tracking number and even messaged to make sure it made it the next day. Great customer service, would definitely use them again. 429508

I was getting tired of throwing gear on the roof rack struggling to get it down and worring about clearance issues or being top heavy (every Jeepers off-roading nightmare). So I started looking for for the impossible a rack with a low center of gravity, that wouldn't affect my ground clearance and most importantly fit with my 35" spare. I found many hitch basket/rack options but either to flimsy, to low to the ground or required dual hitch mounts. Then I found the Rola cargo carrier on etrailer and started having hope. I knew I would have to modify the rack in order to fit my Jeep but at least I could modify it compared to others. The rack is sturdy and doesn't make me lose any ground clearance. I removed the rear chrome crossmember and added some pipe insulation to prevent the metal tabs from rubbing on my spare (only required on mine because of the oversized spare). As the pictures show it fits like a glove and carried 200 lbs of gear like a mule. I have used in George Washington National Forest, up and down the Blue Ridge Trail and looking at taking on my TAT journey. I would recommend to anybody looking for a quality product for a decent price without having to completely modify their vehicle. 305031

After extensive research I placed the order for the Rola 59502 Cargo Carrier from Etrailer. Free shipping, no sales tax, a price match through Pricepledge that saved me another $37, & the carrier made it to Texas in just 2 days. I'm a 59 yr old widow & had the carrier assembled & installed on my '02 Jeep Wrangler the same afternoon that it arrived. Looks good & feels solid. Will be seeing how it performs in another 4 wks when I take my 60th bday trip to New Mexico. Thank you to Natalie & Judy @ etrailer for the prompt & efficient service provided. 419520

Great service from etrailer.com! I received this Rola carrier two days after I ordered it! The quality of the carrier is excellent. Very strong, no wobble (I bought the anti-rattle hitch pin). I had some minor issues with assembly. I'm very mechnically inclined, but this is a big, heavy carrier to put together, and the two sides did not go together easily. It is designed so that the bottom rail on one side goes inside the bottom rail on the other side, but they were not aligned perfectly. After pushing and prodding for a long time, I still had a 1" gap. I used a large hammer (with padding) to close the gap to 1/2", then had to wrench like crazy on the bolts to finally close the gap. I had expected the assembly to take a few minutes, but it took me a little over an hour. Regarding the hardware, Rola did not include washers, which were necessary to attach to 2" base to the body of the carrier. The holes are enlarged to make assembly easy, so you will absolutely need eight 9/16" washers to attach the base to the body of the carrier. Finally, the Rola manual listed the wrong sizes for the bolts they included. The 7/16 bolts were actually 9/16, and the 3/8 bolts were actually 5/8. Not a big deal, but they should probably correct the manual. 48614

Six months since original review. Over a year of ownership now. Has been on the hitch pretty much continuously for over 6 months, just coming off once to tow a trailer and occassionally clean the receiver and make sure rust wasn't combining the two permanently. Since my apartment complex doesn't let me keep my trailer handy this has all but taken its place. Always in use, always abused, never less than solid. Hitch-Vise anti-rattle bracket also HIGHLY recommended. 30183

I love this carrier I travelled a lot in the US and saw vans and trucks with cargo carriers. I also saw a late model Camaro with a cargo carrier. Told myself to buy one since I've never seen one in Montreal. Had this item shipped to my friends house in Florida last July during family vacation. Had the cooler, beach chairs and umbrella placed on the carrier. It kept the trunk free of sand. When I got back in Montreal, lots of people inquired where I got the carrier because they never saw one. I'm kind of proud to be the first to own one in Montreal. I told them to check etrailer.com October starts hockey season for my son. When I have to pickup other kids from my son's team, I use the carrier to carry additional hockey bags. I use the carrier on my '04 Impala. I like the fact that it is raised by 2". I use this carrier whenever I cannot fit things in the trunk. I also bought the LED light kit. I have problem with the plug. It comes off or becomes bent when items on the carrier bumps to it. I am planning to screw a metal cover to protect the plug. As for the powder coating, I hope the carrier does not rust as fast since our winters here are harsh and we use lots of salt on our roads. Overall, I highly recommend this carrier. 1420

This is the 5th one of these Rola carriers that I have owned over the past 9 years. I drive full size pick-ups with caps and drive a ton of miles for my business. These carriers are nearly always on my truck. I carry so many tools and equipment that this carrier is ideal for my overflow when going to a jobsite. This carrier is extremely heavy duty and durable and it has a nice look. I always order the LED light kit for the added safety feature of having lights actually on rear of carrier. I often have had strangers walk up to me and ask about these carriers as it is obvious how heavy duty they are built. The only issue that I have had is a cosmetic one. After about a year of continual use (especially due to road salts), the powder coat finish begins to suffer and then it begins to rust. However, I still have one of these in use that has been in constant weather for 4 years. Though it looks pretty rough it is still structurally sound. I actually am considering having this newest carrier sprayed with Line-X to help it to hold up to the excessive abuse that I put these through. I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a quality and heavy duty carrier. 337974

First let me say I've ordered several products from e trailer over the past few years. E trailer has always provided timely delivery and good customer service which includes their price matching guarantee. I received my Rola Cargo Carrier in three days after placing the order. The box was a little beat up but it was sealed. The Rola is made of heavy steel, solid welds and is a nice looking carrier. I had two issues with the product, first it was missing a bolt, which the big box store did not carry. Second the Rola sticker on the back was falling off. I was able to overcome the bolt issue by up sizing to metric. I just pealed the sticker off so Rola is going to miss out on free advertising. Once the carrier was assembled I was pleased with how sturdy it is and how it fit on my 2011 Explorer. There are no issues with the tailgate opening. Although the Rola is heavy I can handle it alone or with my 10 year old helping out. There is no doubt this product will last for years and provide extra cargo storage when needed. Rola missed out on five stars since it was missing hardware and the sticker issue. Overall I'm very pleased with the end product. 47974

Bought this rack for my 2013 Traverse. The outside of the carrier fit within the width of the vehicle, so there was no overhang. The light kit installed easily. Carrier does wobble around a bit when it is unloaded, but wasn't noticeable once it was loaded. I only used the standard pin to secure the carrier. Liked the open bars around the carrier. Made it easier to install and to secure the cargo. My only comment (not a complaint) is that the carrier would be designed to more readily install the light kit. A small notch in the back plate would allow you to run the wiring along the main support tube. There was a slight gap on mine, so I could still run the wiring there but I'm guessing that wasn't intentional. 95005

This is by far the best hitch mounted cargo carrier I have ever seen. It is well made with quality components. Took it on a 750+ mile road trip right out of the box and performance was flawless. Just rock solid with absolutely no vibration. eTrailer always delivered. I ordered it on a Friday and it was delivered on Tuesday ... astonishingly fast for an item that ways close to 70 pounds. eTrailer is the ABSOLUTE BEST on-line retailer ... HANDS DOWN!! 138474

The front bumper hitch is so nice and easy to use. Used my own Grade 8 bolts from Lowes, I have a 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab, 4x4 HO Diesel with Aisen trans. So the hitch allows me to put a 41' boat in the water with no extra eyes. I DID get the Ram dealer to install the hitch,, it was a well spent $50 bucks. One can also install larger diameter bolts when a real mechanic is the one's hands are trying to keep from breaking their knuckles with the wrenches. I love the hitch... The 600 lb Rola cargo carrier is everything and MORE than advertised. Easy to install, don't need extra help,, Arrived quickly and completely intact... I am well satisfied with everything,, especially MichelleS and etrailer.com... You might want to get the Drawtite Hitch over the curt hitch. The Drawtight mount allows you to avoid scraping the cargo carrier because the Curt hitch mounts much lower and tries to curve up. Much stronger mounting with Draw-Tite on this application. Thanks everyone. Sorry I didn't take photos,, will do better in the future,, lol... Greg 439092

A very well built carrier. The carrier was very easy to assemble, it took less than 10 minutes of actual work after getting the parts out of the box and reading the instructions. The optional light kit presented a slight problem. Because the wagon I will haul on the carrier has a wheel base as wide as the carrier, and the tires from the wagon are located right where the light kit sits in the carrier, the tires would pop out the light kit. I went to my local trailer supply and bought 2 brackets for an oblong taillight for $7.95 each. The bracket is attached with 2 nuts and bolts and 2 fender washers to the bottom of the wire cage. If I choose I can still use the same lights in the original location. I can just un-plug the lights, pop them out and pop them back in the original location, plug the wires back on in less than 2 minutes. I noticed a few customer comments about having trouble with installing the light kit wiring. After watching the video on the installation for the light kit, I had no problem with that part of the installation at all. 2141

Excellent product. Strongly built; not flimsy at all. I like the vertical rise which increases ground clearance. And the larger grate offer many hook points for cargo so you are not limited to only the edges of the platform. I bought the LED lights. Offers excellent, enhanced visibility day and night. While the rubber inserts for the lens housing are not permanent, they hold the lights very well (if inserted correctly). Also, the wiring harness have sufficient lengths (did they improve it? I know there were complaints), biased with one long and one short. For me, perfect lengths for me to route and hook up to the trailer light socket. I would highly recommend it. I am so very pleased that I have finally bought it. I held out the decision to purchase for over a year! I shouldn't have waited. 55833

All that I had hoped for..... I researched several cargo carriers before deciding on this one. We are planning a trip to the west coast in January, and I wanted something I felt would with stand the travel of mountain passes and the possiblity of some pretty tough road conditions. The shipping was fast...received the carrier 3 days from the date of order. The quality is great. Not one blemish on the paint or any bends or flaws on the unit. I also ordered the light kit. The kit is easy to install and the only thing I added was plastic tubing to protect the wires before tie strapping them onto the trailer. All in all, It took about an hour to assemble the carrier and light kit. This unit looks real nice on the back of our 04 Denali and will allow us to carry the extra luggage we have for our trip. Spend the extra money and buy this carrier, you won't be dissappointed. I will download pictures, after the weekend. 3747

This Rola hitch mounted cargo carrier is perfect for our 2012 Sequoia. It sits high and far enough from the exhaust. Also, it does not sag like many other hitch mounted carriers. Ricky at etrailer was very knowledgeable about what would and would not work for our vehicle. Etrailer has earned a new and loyal customer. 101349

The product I ordered was received in good condition. This is exactly what I need to take around my extra stuff ( suitcases, coolers, Home Depot stuff) that I do not want to put in my 2013 Cadillace SRX, to mess it up. I was hoping I would get two reflectors on the backside, because I look around for two to fit but is not able find anything suitable. The assemble instruction was a breeze. 67886

The holes in the back of the carrier are designed for 6-12 inch oval tail lights that would provide the same light functions that a trailer light would offer. Some states require that a cargo carrier be lit like a trailer, particularly if it obstructs vehicle tail lights. See the Related Products section on this page for links.

I bought reflective tape, to not only cover the back but the side. I have a JK Jeep and someone hit it from the side! The light kit is a must but also add washers and some kind of reflection on the side I also did the back, just in case this is an awesome rack though and is still on the back of my Jeep taking all the punishment Ive thrown at it. It is a steep above all other racks IMO, it is somewhat heavy at 75lbs but well worth it for the adventures type or anyone who needs some extra room!

Excellent Rack!! I have had at least 2 racks in the past which mount on the trailer hitch. Each was a disappointment. I saw this one and thought I'd give it another try. It is really outstanding. Very well built, heavy duty and it's especially great in that you can use it with a trailer hitch which is low to the ground and it is elevated which keeps anything from being close to the ground. We're going to use it with our Honda minivan, as well as my Suburban. Can't say how well made and how good a design this is. The only thing I am concerned about is we got the optional light kit and the lights don't seem to sit solidly in the carrier. They seem fairly loose, but I have wire-tied the cable to the basket frame so it won't fall out completely. I am really looking forward to using this carrier. It's the very best of all of them as far as I can tell. 377

My son and I just assembled the carrier and did a test run . It was a very simple assembly and looks like we won't need the tail light assembly as the light are visible . We will have to attatch the license plate. I do have concerns about the pin clip. It simply pops on and I'm worried it will pop off during travel. I am going to look got a locking clip before I travel, but so far it looks like it will free up a lot of space from the cab area . 267462

The ordering and shipping process were faultless, however, I indicated a faster shipping method, and while I got the accessories 1 day faster, the actual rack didn't show up for another day and at 6pm. Also, the box that the rack was shipped in, the manufacturer's original box, was destroyed and the rack and all of it's parts were floating all around inside. I've purchased and then returned several racks in an attempt to get a good quality rack, one that would hold up to whatever I was able to do with it, and I have to say that this rack is it! Great quality product, well constructed, heavy-duty, and absolutely worth the investment in time and money! I've seen a lot of really cheap, really badly designed rack products, ones that were almost on the verge of scary because of safety to other drivers and safety of what you're hauling. 226902

I received my Rola Cargo Carrier within 5 days of ordering it. It was a bit scuffed when I opened the box but the finish was intact. The instructions were easy to follow and I had the whole thing assembled withing 20 minutes of opening the box. I added some reflective tape and just mounted to the back of my Explorer. Looking forward to loading this up with kids college stuff, coolers for camping and hopefully a deer or two this season. 155554

Still holding up after 8 months of abuse and three light rear-endings with no structural damage. The LED Light Kit and some small stainless hardware in the glovebox to quickly relocate your license plate are must haves. 16824

Got this for my wife's 17 Pacifica. easy to put together and super sturdy. I will still be welding it together so I don't have to worry about the bolts. I stood on it and at 225 lbs, there was not movement. Multiple tie down points ensure I always have something to latch to that will be strong since this is steel. Nice powder coating on the carrier. I will be using a Curt waterproof bag shortly with this. The retention bolt is a screw in so it tends to discourage someone from stealing it unless they have the tools on hand. 12 bolts and about 10 minutes to install. Very happy. 439084

Order arrived very quickly and in good shape, although the box had received its' normal abuse markings from UPS heavy shipment handling. Assembly was a snap and produced an extra sturdy well made carrier. I have seen others for much less but as an addition to a camper which will see many miles on rough roads this year I decided this was the best I had seen advertised and I am not disappointed in the construction or finish on this unit. I'll let you know in six months if it doesn't fulfill my expectations. PS: If you order the light kit I suggest that you run the wires before attaching the bottom tube so the wires can be tied against the bottom and not have to be run under the tube where they could be damaged in handling or storage. 341709

But this one and be happy!!! I have had mine now for 3 going on 4 years. I looked at several carriers before I got this one. I decided to pick this carrier out of all the ones out there as it seemd very solid and well made and had a different look that the rest of them out there. It is! I couldn't be happier with it. Very easy to put together and the Anti-Rattle Device is very nice and gives it a soild feel on the vehicle. You Don't know it is back there (be careful backing up). I added the Light kit which is excellent and easy to put on for highway travel. I would buy it again if I had too but this one won't fall apart so I guess I don't have too!! 3120

Great product. We just used it on a camping trip and it worked like a charm. Installation was very simple (minus the stripped bolt that came in the package). The baskets went together with ease and after a quick trip to the hardware store the went on in a snap. The only downside to the whole set up is that it rides to high and at an upward angle. I have a Jeep Wrangler and I cannot open the rear tailgate without manually removing the whole rig. If the receiver bar was just straight instead of angled it would have been perfect. We also got the lights and anti-sway pin. After a little twisting and turning both worked great. 293561

I researched 6 cargo hitch carriers varying from $70-$250 before making this purchase, I would highly recommend this product. It's VERY heavy, but also VERY heavy duty. The rails do not bend even under extreme force, assembly was 15 minutes, and the powder coat finish is very clean looking. The square tubing hitch receiver is much thicker (more durable, more weigh bearing) than any others I've come across, and the hitch bar supports all the way to the end in one solid piece. Spend the extra $50-$100 and get this one, it has a better warranty than most and certainly seems constructed to last 10+ years easily. 74544

We bought this 2 summers ago because with 4 kids and a dog, even using the roof rack is not enough when we camp. This is well made, easy to set up, and feels like it will last much longer than the SUV we attach it to. We got the light kit, which was easy to install, and well worth the $30. This fits our dog kennel, a huge cooler, and lots of odds and ends held down with a cargo net, leaving more room inside the car for things people want to get at while driving.. Well worth the money, and eTrailer is the place to get it. Its going to the Grand Canyon in a few weeks when we hit the road for Spring Break. 7885

I ordered the ROLA rear cargo carrier with the rise in the hitch, the ROLA Walleroo(?) carrier expandable bag, the lights and a locking linch pin. I did extensive research to find what I needed for my car. The etrailer videos were extremely helpful. I have a Toyota RAV 4 and the hitch with the rise was the perfect fit. The cargo carrier is sturdy and well made, solid steel. Everything was easy to put together for two 65 year old women. The cargo bag holds an amazing amount of stuff, withstanding rain and road wear very well. All that research paid off with a worry free camping trip. 426169

Great Product We bought one of these to carry extra stuff like coolers and Dog Crates when we go camping, and its a really well made, good looking device. With 4 kids and a dog, there is not much room left in the Sequoia. This makes it possible to make the trip with one car, and it was well worth the money. The light kit does seem like it should lock in tighter, but we have never had any issues with the lights coming out, so I guess the company knows what its doing. As someone mentioned, it is heavy, so best if attached by two people, but one person can put it on if you are careful. 1461

It was shipped to my house in 3 days. I was very impressed with that. There was some minor scratches which i'm sure was from sliding around, the box was little damaged but it was all hidden when i put it together. It went together fast and easy 35 minutes from the time i started opening the package to the time it was complete. It looks great behind my 07 tahoe, looks like it came from the factory. I put it on and walked all over it very impressed with the stability it had. I can't wait till i can start hauling my deer this fall! Over all a great product. 20506

Excellent product! Fast shipping, easy attachment, and wears well. It is very sturdy, functional and attractive. Its high end construction doesn't wobble, or sway, at all. We use it to transport our electric bikes, on the back of our RV and have found it to be exceptionally useful. When we arrive at our long-term destination, we use it to store our travel golf club hardshell carriers. We highly recommend the LED light kit that comes with it, as it safely protects the carrier, whenever attached. We absolutely LOVE it! It was definitely worth the purchase! 486566

This is one solid piece of equipment, very sturdy and holds my food cooler, beer cooler (bigger) and still have room left for the camping table, stove, tents, bags, and firewood. The perfect addition to my FJ Cruiser which to be honest doesn't have a ton of internal storage. It was so easy to put together that I was shocked (was easier than putting office furniture together). i must have had it together in under 15 minutes with the aid of two sets of socket wrenches. A great purchase! I will look no further than this vendor for future similar products! 21507

I purchased our ROLA hitch carrier a year ago. It was well packaged, all parts were there, and it assembled just as the instructions said. We used it, along with the weather proof bag designed to fit it, for a trip to Florida. It is excellent for our needs. The rise provides enough clearance for uphill driveways, curbings, etc. It is sturdy/steady and seems to have little/no effect on gas mileage when behind our SUV. I am considering adding a 2" receiver to the back of our fifth wheel so that I can use it when towing/camping. 329564

Using this on a 2015 Chevrolet 2500 HD 4x4. Impressed with the quality of the carrier, very sturdy, easy to assemble. I bought the light kit and it works and looks great. The way it is raised provides a lot more clearance if you go off-road. Placed the order on Monday and it was there on Wednesday. Great customer service!! 329738

Great product! If you are looking for a heavy duty carrier this is the one! Am very pleased. Well made, heavy grate om the bottom. I added the anti-tilt bracket . Works great too. The led light kit adds a bit of class and let's others know where the carrier is. Draw backs? Weight maybe for some but you just can't get this strength without it. Suggest that Rola replace their name tag with a reflective one and add some washers for th top four bolts. BTW. All the hardware is top of the line. Very happy . 230579

Super Heavy Duty. Easy to install. Little unexpected on the weight. Very sleek design with nice accessories such as led lights and waterproof baggage. Disappointed that there were areas that the powder coat was chipped off so concern over rust. Also the side plate was smashed. Minor recommendation it to add washers to the mounting frame as the bolt head barely holding on the oversized slots used for alignment. Five stars on design but overall 3 stars due to weight and significant damage. 407640

Exactly what I needed! I ordered my cargo carrier on a Saturday and received it on Wednesday. Shipping was free and delivery was via fedex. It took only about 20 min to assemble and fit perfectly on my 03 Chevy Suburban. Only draw back was the carrier didn't come with a hitch post (but that can be ordered seperately) and when it did arrive the surface was scratched along the top in 2 places. Other than that it is a great product and I will definately order from etrailer again. 3868

We wanted a little more space during our road trip, so decided to get this hitch carrier. It assembled quickly, and is so sturdy that I used it to stand on when loading the roof rack. With an Ice chest, Ladder and 100 lbs of camping gear, it didn't wiggle around at all. As a matter of fact, a truck not paying attention bumped into us from the rear, and all it did was scratch the paint a little. A bit of advice: Its heavy, so use two people when attaching or taking it off. 411470

I love the look and size of this carrier. It is well built and heavy duty. Almost a little to heavy duty as far as it's weight goes but I'm still very happy with it. I ordered it on a Monday night and had it by Thursday. Fast, Free shipping! What more can you ask for? 63067

This is a nicely designed, heavy weight and even attractive (for what it is!) product. As others have noted it arrived with some shipping damage. There are 3 heavy steel items in the box and while they are "protected" by strategically placed cardboard the cardboard doesn't really have a prayer! Damage was not too bad though and I'm really happy with this product. Recommend installing with locking anti-rattle hitch pin for a stable platform. 347605

The videos from etrailer.com really helped me make up my mind about this purchase. After bolting the carrier together, I'm really impressed with the construction but more so with the ease of putting it all together. This hitch carrier is stout! I won't have any problems carrying my extra gear to the beach, the woods, or the mountains. I also purchased the light kit for the hitch carrier. It was also very easy to install and works like a charm. 10789

All I can say is WOW!! The products I ordered are great, the delivery was very fast, and the service simply amazing. Everything arrived very quickly just the way I ordered (the boxes leave something to be desired as they seem to really take a beating) and installation was very straightforward. The instructional videos on the etrailer website are very much appreciated. An excellent experience that I would recommend to anyone. Thanks again!! 9000

I used four steel washers (not included with product) when attaching the left and rignt side racks to the frame. The bolt head is only slightly larger than the bolt hole so the use of a washer keeps the head from being pulled into the hole. 57382

shopped around a long time to find the perfect cargo carrier. I wanted one that was more sturdy than typical, and a bit bigger. The Rola fit the bill. I've used it for more than a year and I have no complaints. Its everything I hoped it would be. I can carry heavy loads with its bigger bed and I have great ground clearance if I'm backing out of a steep area. If you want to get one of the best cargo carriers then get this one. 434381

Love this rack! Super heavy build and excellent quality. Had to flip the chrome brace arm closest to the vehicle to fit under my oversized spare tire but it works. I have a Jeep JKU with 37" tires so... Awesome, heavy duty rack! 317625

Rola cargo carrier #59502 was delivered in about 4 work days. Box was in good shape when I recieved it , not like what I had read in some of the other reviews. The carrier is just how it was discribed and will work fine for carrying the things I want to carry. Went together easy. The fit is great on my 2012 Subaru Outback. If I need any other products for this unit I will get them from etrailer. Thank You from Wisconsin 51122

Do you have a question about this Hitch Cargo Carrier?

  • Do Lights have to be Added to a Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier
  • Basically, in any state in the union, if the rear license plate or lights are obscured in any way, a police officer can pull you over, regardless of the specific verbiage of the laws. Beyond that it is just a good idea to add lights for safey. For the Rola cargo carrier # 59502 you can use light kit # 20174. In order to use the lights your vehicle will need to have a 4-Way trailer connector. If your 2012 Toyota Highlander does not have a trailer connector you can use # 118449. I have...

  • Is a Roof Pad Recommended for a Roof Mounted Cargo Bag on a Toyota Sequoia
  • If you are interested in a roof mounted cargo bag, I would always recommend a roof pad like the Rightline Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad, # RL100650. If the bag will be sitting on the roof, sliding will be a potential issue. You can also limit sliding by securing the bag to the rails and the crossbars, but I would still recommend using the non-skit pad. The main advantage to using a hitch mounted cargo carrier over a roof mounted cargo carrier is the weight capacity. A hitch mounted cargo...

Lightweight ladder-mount RV bike racks are available for up to 2 bikes, such as the Surco 2 Bike Carrier # SP501BR, but if you can use hitch-mount carriers that place the load on the vehicle frame you are better off. Have a look at the safety sticker on your RV hitch. There should be a tongue weight capacity listed on it. This is important to know since that TW figure is the maximum weight load you can use...
