I got my carrier in rapid time. I took it out of the box, and went through the instructions for assembly. It went together with very little effert . What I like about this unit is it is made light enough to handle, yet heavy enough to do the job. I recommend that after you get it assembled that you get a little help in installing it into your hitch receiver. I did it alone and took me a little more effert then I wanted but being a rather large man I did ok. The ramp works great, it allows me to load and carry my 26 inch snow blower from my house to my other jobs I have down town without having to hook my trailer up to the truck. It is wide enough and long enough to fit this blower, which is a 2 stage, and to heavy for me to lift. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants to be able to haul an item that is to heavy to lift into the back of your truck, yet you don't need a full blown trailer, especially in the winter time. Easy to put together, and to use, plus when you are done it folds up right next to your vehicle, which lets allows you the plus of not having to take it off when not in use.

Still doing the job, used it this mornig to haul my snow blower to the store fronts that I clean snow away from. One of the most successful investment I have ever made

The people at e trailer are so friendly and work with the customers to solve the problems. My association with this company sans two months. In October I ordered this carrier . It was delivered quite fast. but I could not assemble it for quite some time due to lack of help . Then I discovered that the item was damaged. The company sent me the replacement but it was the wrong item. The third carrier was received.. The carrier was quite easy to Assemble. Make no mistake it takes two people . The video does not mention that let alone stress that point. We worked with the carrier on the ground. We laid it obits side with he ramp raised up in the vertical position to atach the base to the platform. This will be less strain on the back. The video shows one man lifting it and attaching it to the hitch receiver!!!! have another person help you lift it and insert the carrier in to the receiver. The ramp is simple to extend. Be careful of your fingers getting skinned or caught in the hinge. Lifting the platform to the closed position is quite simple, but be carful it will not fall on to the back of the vehicle. The anti-sway attachment makes the carrier quite stable. The carrier is attached to 2014 Honda CRV. We have used a couple of times sofar. Secure the scooter with straps .

Wanted to try one of these for my Ariens Deluxe 28 snowblower. Wheeling the blower down ramps out of my truck bed is at least slightly precarious and I can't afford a trailer, so I figured I'd give this a shot. Assembly was simple enough. It's heavy, but I managed to get it assembled and into the hitch myself. The rack sits a ways out from the hitch itself, but that's a consequence of its 5" depth...when it's folded to the up position, it does not touch my bumper or tailgate. My snowblower weighs about 235lbs, so within half of the rack's rated capacity. The rack itself probably weighs 60-70lbs, so I've got an overall ~350lbs hanging off my trailer hitch. Because the rack itself is a ways out from the hitch, the effective load (F*r) is probably closer to 500-600lbs. My Class IV hitch is rated for 650lbs tongue load, so it should be just fine, especially considering the safety factors engineered into things like hitches. Today was my first day driving around with the snowblower loaded on it. I drove gently and didn't have any issues. My confidence in the unit will likely grow as the winter goes on and it resists any bending. The unit as a whole does sag slightly with the blower loaded up (see picture), but that's probably more to do with slop in the system than the unit itself. The grating is slippery, especially in the wet/snow, so be mindful. I ziptied some old car floor mats to the center of the ramp pieces for some foot traction. Don't forget to account for the added width from the skids if you're planning to use this for a snowblower. I bought this knowing I'd have to rest the skids up on the rails. Get your tie-downs right and you'll be fine.

overall, not a bad product. could be better in its fit and finish. The ramp is a little heavy and awkward if your disabled, and the pin chains do break as has been mentioned. I replaced the pins with better ones from a hardware store. This is best used with an suv or pickup as it has some weight. Our Nissan Quest was NOT up to the task of putting a 250-300 lb scooter on it. The aforementioned vehicles with a proper hitch (preferably PU/SUV with class4, 2inch hitch) would do best and loading items that do not have leading and trainling wheels/arms like my wifes electric scooter. a small 4 wheel electric chair perhaps, mowers, tiller, small 4-wheeler would be great choices. It needs a bit of height off the ground so it does not scrap. (ours did constantly because of a very soft suspension). The locking arm(s) are a little awkward, but servicable. The ramp has the lip from the frame to 'jump' over, so a small ramp like a door sill to make a smooth transition would be welcome for small wheeled items, large 10-12 inch wheels should have no problem with angles or the blunt frame edge of the ramp. Overall a good value depending on what you are hauling, and with what you are hauling it with. For the money, its a good size with long ramp. I would NOT recommend using it with an HD jazzy scooter with trailing arms and center drive wheels. If you have a machine that is just front and rear wheel setup, you should be ok. I stress this because of personal experience. This was replaced by a Bruno chariot lift because, (1) it got hit by a bad driver and bent out of usable condition, (2) our vehicle required a different setup to carry our heavy item. With care and attention to detail, a person should be able to get years of service. Has lots of holes and frame work with to tie onto or use straps. I am including a frame picture of scooter to know what to avoid...

What great service! I ordered my wheel chair carrier to we could transport a life long friend who has fallen victim to MS. I ordered at 6pm and paid the nominal fee to get it in 3-5 business days, at 10 am the next morning it was on my front door step, WOW! It is a great product, well built and easy to use. The only down side I experienced was that the wobble bracket isn't very universal, it doesn't work with my hitch receiver. However I saved almost $200 over what a local dealer wanted so I can get one that works for my needs. I have had an unsurpassed experience with the product and company! I'll be back!

I bought this product for the width and the ramp. I carry a generator from my house to the deer lease 120 mi one way, Sportsman model 7500 dual fuel, weighing about 270 lbs. The first carrier I ordered made it there just fine, then upon returning home, I noticed that the carrier was sagging bad. I contacted etrailer and they immediately sent a replacement. The replacement did not even make it 10 miles on paved roads in the city before it started to bend. Terrible product, the squaring tubing that the designed used is too thin of gauge, i cant imagine what would happen if someone tried to haul the rated capacity of 500 lbs. Pictures of both carriers attached.

Very fast delivery, two days. Very simple to assemble. The instruction pictures have the carrier assembled opening into the street and not towards the curb. Here in Pa it is illegal to park against on going traffic, the ramp should be on the passenger side. This was an easy fix while assembling. Happy with construction. I will be rebuilding the anti-tilt locking bracket since it was welded crooked and throws off the level of the platform. I will also add extra welds to the bottom square tubing near the weep holes. In all very satisfied with etrailer.com and will purchase from again. Thanks

The trailer arrived and within 30 minutes it was installed and we were on the road with it. Drove 7 hours without any shimmy or sway. Videos were really helpful in seeing various positions of trailer. Paper instructions for assembly were detailed but drawings were very small; had to use trial and error for part that steadies the trailer.

Great hitch trailer, but the assembly instruction could use some improvements. I've never assembled a hitch trailer, but was able to figure it out. The instruction were not helpful. Great product though!

There are 2 features that make this product stand above the rest. 1. This has a 60 inch ramp and most of the others have a 48 inch. It's a big deal for power chairs because a steep ramp will cause the drive wheel to lift off the ground and lose traction at the bottom of the ramp and high center at the top of the ramp. Either way, the wheelchair gets stuck. 2. It folds flat against your vehicle when it's not being used. Cargo carriers stick out quite a bit from the back of a vehicle and have a tendency to drag when you go in or out of driveways or any other incline. They also make parking and maneuvering in tight spaces a problem. If it doesn't fold up against the vehicle when not in use the only other option is to remove it from your hitch and reinstall it every time you use it and you don't want to do that because these things are heavy! Aside from these 2 features, it's well made and sturdy. A typical power wheelchair today weighs 400 pounds. A lighter duty carrier isn't going to cut it. The only draw backs are inherent in all cargo carriers. It blocks my backup camera and license plate. The are only minor inconveniences, however, and can be easily solved.

- MT70260
by:

I am glad you asked. I was going to email you about these issues, but with disabled children time has a way of escaping We only used it like 5 times, it has started leaning downwards, and depending on the side the wheelchair is tied down on the carrier twists over that way. On a couple of roads in our area, it bottomed out as we drove out the car park exit. Currently we are not using it, because of these issues. There are a few other small annoyances, but the main one is the twisting and leaning

I don't understand how these companies get away it and I'm referring to Maxx Tow. It used to be that a product that was built to handle 750 lbs. they would say 500 lb. capacity to cover their butt. Now they put a 500 lb. load rating on it and it fails with 250 lbs. That is the weight of my wheelchair that didn't make it through two test runs before the welds popped and the grate on the ramp started buckling. So now I have the hassle of taking it back apart, repacking it and trying to figure out how to get it shipped back. Being that I am handicapped with no legs, I really needed a carrier that worked. Not an over rated light duty piece of crap. So now I'm not even at square one because I need to return this and have to wait for my money before I can try to find something else. What else is new. Thanks a friggin lot Maxx Tow.

The box was man handled by a UPS driver. The first delivery attempt was left on the truck because the driver said he needed a 2nd person to pick it up. The 2nd driver the next day did it solo. I didn't notice the box damaged. The second delivery seems much better. I'll see if it survives the 1st load.

I bought this carrier for my dad's power chair. His truck sits high so we needed the 60" ramp. I haven't used the carrier yet because it is a surprise for him so I can't give 5 stars. I'm giving 4 for the ease of ordering, fantastic shipping and quality of the carrier. I ordered this carrier on a Sunday afternoon and it arrived Wednesday evening! I did opt for the express delivery which states 3-5 business days. I assumed I'd get it Thursday at best but I was pleasantly surprised. I put it together by myself using a grand total of 5 wrenches. I could've reduced that number to 2 if I'd used adjustable wrenches but I had ratchet wrenches on hand to fit everything. Speaking of that, all the bolt/nut sizes are emperial (not metric) and that made it easier. I had it un-packed, assembled and installed on my truck to fit test everything in under 30 minutes. It is a little heavy and awkward for one person to lift/mount but it isn't impossible. I'm of average height, weight and strength and managed it without too much strain. The fact that it is heavy is a good thing, in my opinion. I'd be afraid of a steel carrier of this size if it wasn't substantially heavy. The finish is very good, all components were in the packaging and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I'll come back after we've put some miles on it and see which way I need to amend my review!

Comments
The only complaint that I have is the ramp angle and edge. The ramp, even being longer, still has a sharp angle that makes loading a power chair difficult. It isnt a ride on process. The edge of the ramp is 1 steel tubing and it is difficult to get the chair wheels over it. The problem comes when loading because you cannot get up any speed to bounce over the edge because you will slip off the edge.

I'm giving his carrier a 5 star rating because it lives up to it's advertised description. It was rather simple to assembly, about 30 minutes for me. The extra long ramp is the best I've seen in this price range and it's sturdy enough to handle my 250 LBS stature as I walked up and bounced on the flat platform. The full length stretched steel mesh is tack welded all throughout the frame and this style material simplifies loading with ease. After assembly was complete, I did need a 2nd person to help mount the carrier onto the vehicle. The carrier arrived 2 days ahead of the projected delivery date. Hats-Off for etrailer.com great price and great product and FREE shipping!

Comments
The cargo carrier still functions as intended load and haul. What we found with it’s use is that the alignment pins are tight and we have to jiggle the carrier to fully close the ramp and that along, has been difficult. We knew in the beginning it would take two people to mount the carrier to the vehicle hitch, but we struggle due to its weight and size, just to got it properly mounted onto the vehicle hitch. The school of hard-knocks has taught me that maybe the aluminum unit would have been a better choice, as the steel unit is very heavy and the more I struggle with it, the heavy it gets.

The carrier is as advertised. Assembly went well, but would have been faster had I done it fifty years ago. :-) I have not yet installed it on my vehicle. Primary use intended is for my wife's power wheelchair. I may have uses for it as a substitute for my large utility trailer. Assembly instructions are complete and accurate. I may submit a picture later after installation on vehicle. I am pleased overall with the purchase.

Comments
I dont use the carrier often, but nice to have it when needed. I put it on by myself, so when take it off, set it up on blocks at near the right height for mounting. I have to agree with others, pins and chains are flimsy, but I have no major complaints with the unit. Serving my purpose.

The mobility Carrier has worked out Great. After one year the only thing I've done to it is spray truck bed paint on the finish to help give it a little more grip and to stop the tiny spot of rust which is from living in Florida's humidity. This product works great for the bigger mobility scooters. I'm very happy with this product.

by:

Pros: This trailer is a solid piece of equipment and a good value for the price. While the ramp is a little on the heavy side, it is still lighter and less strenuous to move overall than lifting my mobility scooter out of the back of my vehicle myself. Cons: I used it on my 2012 Rogue and it notoriously scraped almost every driveway we went in or out of. (Tip - approach at a significant angle to decrease the severity of the scrape.) Unsurprisingly, the part of the rack that frequently came into contact with asphalt quickly lost its powder coat finish and rusted. The little clips that hold the ramp up in place wore out after about a month or two and had to be replaced (available at specialty hardware stores.) The chains that kept hold of the clips were no match for Wisconsin winters - they degraded even quicker, rusting through and falling off within a month. The anti-shake bracket was extremely hard to tighten and if we were lucky enough to get it tightened, it would not stay that way for long. Also, putting the rack into its compact, upright position is difficult at first until the bolt wears the hole down enough (the whole thing is very heavy, definitely a two-person job.) Overall, the cons were mostly minor annoyances, and the functionality of the rack remains. I am still thankful to have this option and continue to have mobility options even while pregnant. Had my husband written this review, he would have been much more critical, as he was the one who had to deal with it, make all the adjustments, etc.

This receiver installed very easily. I would warn that it will require two people to manage the install. That's where a grandson and his friend come in handy. Instructions were very clear with lots of pictures. I bought this for my Toyota Rav 4. I also purchased a Scooter/wheelchair carrier and it also fit perfectly. It will lay horizontally or vertically. I am disabled and got tired of trying to lift my scooter into the trunck. The carrier had a 60 inch fold up ramp which makes very easy to "walk-up" the scooter into the carrier. Thanks etrailer for the assistance in ordering and the price.

  • Can MaxxTow MT70260 Wheelchair Carrier Carry Generator on Front Hitch
The # MT70260 carrier has a 500 lb capacity, so it'll handle your 240 lb generator with no problem. As long as the front hitch you're using has a vertical load/tongue weight capacity sufficient to handle the 80 or so pound weight of the carrier plus the weight of your generator, that setup should work fine for you. If you don't necessarily need a 60 inch long ramp, you can get the same carrier with a shorter 48 inch ramp as part # MT70106 which would save you quite a bit of money. It's...

  • Cargo Carrier Recommendation for Use Behind RV
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few cargo carriers were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier part # CC-100 is approved...

We do have a lighter option available in the Aluminum 30x50 Curt Cargo Carrier part # C18112. This one weighs about 63 pounds. Unfortunately, all of the cargo carriers we offer with a built-in ramp are going to well exceed the 40 lb limit you referred to. Instead, I recommend taking a look at the Erickson Arched Loading Ramp Set part # EM07435. These ramps are both 72" long, weigh...

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier to Carry Snow Blower with 2011 Dodge Ram
The MaxxTow carrier you mentioned has an inside-the-rails dimension of 48 x 28 inches. Your blower might fit, but it would be a very tight fit. The carrier is relatively inexpensive, and would be best suited for occasional use. A carrier like the Pro Series # PS10401-10402 would be a much better choice. The carrier is very highly rated by our customers, and the roomy 47-3/4 inch long x 31-3/4 inch wide carrier platform would easily handle both the size and the weight of your snow blower. The...

  • MaxxTow Cargo Carrier MT70260 Hits Back of Bumper on 2012 Audi Q5 when Carrier is Folded Up
I show that the MaxxTow cargo carrier # MT70260 measures 4-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier when it is folded up so you will need about another 3 inches of length. I would not recommend welding onto the shank of the carrier because that will still move the load out further from the hitch receiver and put extra stress on it which, worst case scenario, will lead to hitch failure. The tongue weight capacity on your hitch you mentioned...

  • Cargo Carrier Recommendation for Transporting a 30 inch Wide Snowblower
You would need something wider, check out the 32x48 Pro Series Steel Solo Cargo Carrier # PS10401-10402. This carrier is slightly wider to fit your 30 inch wide snow blower and has a loading ramp. This carrier has a floor dimension of 31-3/4 inches wide by 47-3/4 inches long which you would want to compare to the dimensions of your snow blower. Check out the review video I attached for this product. The useable dimensions of the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier # MT70260 is only 28...

  • Recommended Lock for MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier # MT70260
Thank you for your order for MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier # MT70260. I am pleased you are happy with the purchase and I will certainly let Lexus know how much you appreciate her help! I recommend the Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 since it will not only secure your chair carrier from theft but also help reduce any rattling and motion while you're driving. If you're most concerned with resistance to corrosion and don't mind giving up the anti-rattle...

  • Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for Toyota Tundra for Use Transporting 150-lb Outboard Motor
Since I do not know what class of hitch you have on your Tundra I suggest you start by checking its safety sticker to confirm its tongue weight rating, which is the downward force applied to the hitch. As an example, a 2013 Toyota Tundra can be equipped with any of three classes of 2-inch trailer hitch: Class III, Class IV and Class V. Please see the link provided. The good news is that any of these should have enough capacity for the weight of your 150-lb motor and stand plus the weight...

  • Will the MaxxTow Wheel Chair Carrier Work with a 2010 Toyota Venza
Yes, the MaxxTow Wheelchair Carrier, # MT70260, will work with your 2010 Toyota Venza as long as you have a 2" trailer hitch installed. If you do not have a trailer hitch, I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, # 75663, because it is the most cost effective hitch for your vehicle and you do not have to sacrifice quality or weight capacity compared to our other trailer hitches. The tongue weight capacity will be your main concern when using a hitch mounted carrier....

  • Carrying a TowMaxx Mobility Scooter Carrier And Towing a Heavy Trailer at the Same Time
In this case, I recommend using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, part # D210. This part doesn't reduce your tongue weight at all. This difference can be massive when carrying heavy items like a mobility scooter above a load. You will want to verify the weight of your mobility scooter, the weight of the MaxxTow 30x50 carrier, part # MT70260 (About 95lbs) and the tongue weight of your proposed trailer with load is less than 750lbs of tongue weight, the limit of the Curt Multipurpose Ball...

  • Availability of Hitch-Mount Ramped Scooter Carrier With 60-Inch Platform
The MaxxTow 30x50 Ramped Wheelchair Carrier # MT70260 that you referenced has a platform that measures 30- x 50-inches, and its ramp measures 60-inches long. This and all other ramped carriers we offer are viewable using the link to your right. This 50-inch platform length is the longest we have available. This carrier's 60-inch ramp is also the longest ramp on any of these items. Please note that these carriers vary considerably in their weight capacities, ranging from 230- to 500-lbs....

  • Recommended Folding Cargo Carrier With Ramp
For a dual ramp with folding feature, I recommend the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier w/ 60" Long Ramp - 2" Hitches - Folding - Steel - 500 lbs # MT70260. This is a steel construction and is rated for 500 lbs. I've attached a video of this carrier for you. If you are interested in a lighter carrier with a ramp then check out the Curt # C18112.

  • Recommended Mobility Scooter Carrier with Ramp for 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan
If you have a 2 inch receiver like the Draw-Tite # 75119 that is a good start. There isn't much ground clearance on these carriers so the bottom will be about 11 inches off the ground. If you will often be carrying the mobility scooter, then I recommend the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS4515 to ensure the back of your van doesn't sag and point your headlights to the sky. Then for your cargo carrier with ramp I recommend the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair...

  • Is the Ramp Removable on MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier for 2-Inch Hitches # MT70260
According to my contact at MaxxTow the folding ramp on their 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier for 2-Inch Hitches # MT70260 can be removed with a wrench or socket. The ramp mounting points are secured with nylon lock nuts. I also checked with the team at ProSeries, who offers a similar folding-ramp cargo carrier # PS10401-10402. The ramp on this unit can also be removed, but this too would require essentially partial dis-assembly of the carrier using tools. It is not intended to provide any sort...

  • Determining Proper Ground Clearance for Wheelchair Carrier on Honda Odyssey
There isn't a recommended ground clearance number for a hitch-mounted carrier like # MT70260 because it will depend on a few different factors such as the types of roads you travel on (or if you have to go down or up a steep driveway) along with the type of sag you can expect once the carrier is loaded, which depends on the weight of your cargo/wheelchair. I will say though that if you have just 9 inches of ground clearance this may cause some issues when going over bumps or up/down...

  • Cargo Carrier with Ramp Availability
There isn't a ramp for the carrier you referenced so our best option would be the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier # MT70260 which measures 30 inch by 50 inch and comes with a folding ramp assembly. The ramp measures 60 inches long. This is the largest option we carry.

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier with Ramp for Pride Victory Sport Scooter and Inflatable Pontoon Boat
For your scooter, the overall length from what I can find is 47 inches and the overall width is 26 inches. I recommend for your purposes the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier w/ 60" Long Ramp # MT70260. This carrier has hinges with pin and cotter pin, so you could easily remove the ramp and use other clips to secure the pins for travel if you decide to utilize that option as well. The three pins may be easier to remove than a couple of bolts. Another option is the 32x48 Pro Series Steel...

Whether the scooter you are referring to is a motorized 2 wheel scooter or a 4 wheeled mobility scooter I recommend the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier w/ 60" Long Ramp # MT70260 for use behind your motorhome. You can use a cargo carrier like this to carry bikes as well. I recommend the tie-down straps # EM05710 to assist with securing your cargo. Another option to secure your bikes is to use the Replacement Low-Rider Fork Block for Thule Bed-Rider Truck Bed Mounted Bike Carrier...

  • Hitch Cargo Carrier to Carry a Wheelchair on a 2013 Subaru Impreza

We do offer three cargo carriers that will fit a Class I hitch: Curt # C18145 Curt # C18110 Surco # 52017 Another thing to pay attention to is the weight of the wheelchair you plan to put on the carrier.
