I use the cargo hitch every week and often multiple days in a row for work. I used to breakdown my magliner/camera cart before and after set as well as for location moves during a shoot, but now i just ramp it up and ratchet the cart to the carrier. -I have not noticed any significant swaying or movement when it is in the down position and my 4Runner drives like nothing is there. -When in the upright position, the carrier has a tendency to lean right or left when I turn, so i just fasten it with the same ratchets that I use for securing my cart. -It weighs about 80 pounds and can be a little tricky to attach solo, but ive got a quick little system and now its no problem. I also generally leave it on. -with its frequent use, the 2" square connecting shaft has bent a few degrees, probably from some low speed road impacts when going through dips in driveways, etc, so it doesnt sit evenly off the back of my 4Runner, but thats not terrible, it just looks wonky when folded up and when in use in the down position. -It has made some loud scratching sounds when it drags on the asphalt, maybe some plastic casters would be a good idea. -I like that it clears my lights and license plate. -The anti-rattle/stabilization block doesnt cinch down on a 4Runner hitch due to no clearance and welding spots, maybe it does on other vehicles. -I have otherwise found it to be very solid, out of my view when driving, and well worth the buy. I have had a few in the past and this is the best for my application.

I was a little leery ordering a carrier for my mobility scooter on the Internet, but I couldn't be more pleased with the one I received from etrailer.com. It is very well made with very sturdy steel throughout, all welds are smooth, and there are no sharp edges that could catch clothing or cause injury. I like how I have the ability to old the carrier when I'm not using it to transport my scooter, and I discovered yesterday that when the tailgate on my pickup is open I can use a hand truck to cart heavy objects up on to the carrier making it easier to load because there isn't such a large step up to get items into the pickup bed. This is a quality product, much better than others I'd looked at at mobility stores at twice the price. And the shipping was fast and it was delivered right to my door. I highly recommend etrailer.com and this mobility scooter carrier for anyone looking for a carrier or anything else they could want relating to trailers, carriers, and accessories.

Bought this to haul my generators and lawnmowers. This is the perfect size for my 200 lb. generator. Package came very quick by UPS. Package was in good shape with NO damage. Easy to assemble. All pieces and parts were included with excellent instructions. I assembled it and installed by myself in one hour. The anti-rattle adaptor fit perfect, even though I have a 2 &1/2 inch hitch receiver with a 2 inch adaptor. The ramp fits perfect in the bed of my truck, with my fifth wheel hitch if I have to tow my fifth wheel or boat. Ramp was easy to insert in the receiver by using my 2 wheeled dolly to assist in getting it started, which reduced the total weight of the ramp. Another excellent product from E Trailer.

I am using this to haul a large generator on the back of my fifth wheel camp trailer. I wondered if this would handle the weight and it has done a marvelous job. I love the ramp which makes it easy to load and unload my generator. Thanks for making a great product.

The MaxxTow Wheelchair Carrier. The product is very sturdy, assembled easily. The ramp is quite adequate for the low to the ground Ford Flex hitch height. I ordered this from etrailer and did not have time to receive it at home before leaving on vacation. Thanks to etrailer & UPS for three day shipping I received it at my hotel in Oklahoma, where I assembled it and put it to good use. The only complaint I have for MaxxTow is there were no assembly instructions on line. True, its not very complicated, however a tool list would have been nice to have. It all worked out because the nice maintenance man at the hotel loaned me some tools and 45 minutes later it was assembled and the scooter was loaded and ready to go. The Carrier got a good test of over 2500 miles from Oklahoma to California. The only issue was going over steep drive ways with the Ford Flex it is low and drags if you don't take it at an angle. A good product for a fair price.

I purchased this carrier because it did not have any of the complaints that I saw about other carriers that cost a bit less. I plan to use it for a snowblower, a walk behind leaf blower, and other large equipment. Took about an hour to assemble, and at least half of that was just learning the product. It is an excellent product and worth the money. All of the holes are drilled properly, and the quality is superb. I was able to put it Into the hitch alone by putting it into the vertical position and then lifting it up to the hitch on a 2016 Honda Pilot. Loading a snowblower was a breeze. No significant sagging of the carrier, about one inch with 200 lbs on it. The longer 48" ramp, as opposed to the standard 42" ramp, makes it possible to pull a 200 lb snowblower onto the carrier from the side without even going up onto the carrier. No problem driving at all. The instructions were clear. The anti-wiggle device works well. Any wiggle in the carrier was eliminated by tightening up the bolts on the hitch pivot piece as needed. The carrier pays for itself in one year by avoiding the service cost of pick up and return of heavy equipment like a snowblower, leaf blower, power washer or generator. Plus now I can take the equipment to my daughter's house to help out. Very happy with the purchase of this quality product.

I carried a 330 pound wheelchair on the platform for less than a week and it warped the mesh on the ramp. The platform held up well but I worry about using it again this year for my friend because if the ramp breaks down it could ruin his wheelchair leaving him in a terrible position. If I had been using the platform every day for this whole year I am sure it would be in pieces. It was supposed to handle 500 pounds so I am not sure why the ramp has such damage with only 330 pounds in under a week.

Comments
I have now used the platform twice. Both times the platform was used once a day for about a week. So that is only 2 weeks of total use of the platform since purchase. The platform is carrying an electric wheelchair for a friend. The first week the ramp became warped. The mesh started becoming indented. The second week one of the hinges popped a weld. It almost made using it impossible and would have left my friend completely stranded on the opposite side of the country to where he lives with no way too transport his wheelchair. He would have had to drive his wheelchair 80 miles to the airport in order to get home!Unfortunately after only 2 weeks of use the platform is now unusable.

I am returning the carrier as it is not usable. I put my snowblower on it and one end of the carrier twisted to the point that it was less than 12 inches from the ground. I am putting it on a Town and Country which doesn't have a lot of clearance from the receiver hitch to begin with. I would suggest that you add text to your order site warning customers to measure how much clearance they have will be reduced even more by the carrier. A minimum number should be set.

Comments
I would not buy this again. I have been carrying my 180b powerwasher daily and it is already rusting out and sagging. I am at the point where I am afraid to carry anything on it in fear that I might dump it on the road. Not rated for 500lbs. Not rated for 200 lbs.

On our Dodge Magnum, receiver hitch will be 12 inches off ground at its top ten inches at its bottom. Our load is about 200 lbs. In your opinion, will this carrier work?
-- comment by: Rick - 08/01/2013

It could work, but it will be low. Depending on the load in the carrier and the cargo area of the Magnum, the suspension may compress enough that the carrier would be too low. There are cargo carriers with a rise built into the shank, to give it some more clearance. Take a look at the Rola 59502 for an example of a raised shank. We do not have any raised shank carriers with a load ramp like the this one. All the ramped carriers we have are straight shank.

I just put this together this afternoon. I sent the first one back because when I got to the last bolt, the holes weren't drilled properly. I contacted etrailer and they took good care of me in helping me return the first carrier and sending a replacement. I was a little frustrated by the vagueness and small print on the instructions but it still only took me about 30 minutes to put it together. I had to do it on my own since my husband is totally disabled, and it was totally doable. Can't wait to load up husband's motorized chair and see how the carrier does.

Comments
Thank you for reaching out. We still have the cargo carrier and its working well for transporting my husbands motorized wheelchair. There are two things about the carrier that I would change the ramp length is too short and the carrier tilts down when my husbands wheelchair is loaded on. I bought a portable threshold ramp that we take with us when we take the wheelchair, it helps with loading and unloading the wheelchair. When we travel, the wheelchair tends to move back toward the end of the carrier where the lowest point is. Sometimes its made it difficult to unload the chair because the tie down straps get caught under the chair after it shifts to the back of the ramp. On the positive side, Im usually able to load and unload the chair by myself. Im not sure if Id buy this carrier for an electric wheelchair, I think its probably more suited for lighter equipment.

I purchased this product to haul a snowblower with my 2013 Highlander. The carrier was easy to assemble, probably 30-45 minutes. I've used it once, it seems very sturdy and strong, the ramp is easy to deploy, and it folds up easily. My only caution is that my hitch receiver is low, and the carrier does drop down a bit from front to back. The carrier did scrape when I pulled into a driveway.

We are really enjoying the Cargo Carrier. I am a 68 year old woman and even though I needed help hooking it up to the truck, I can fold it up and down when we need to use it. Acquired the carrier to transport a 3500 watt generator on a Ford F450. Assembly instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. Pin alignment when securing the carrier in either position is a bit challenging - had to wiggle it back and forth - but once pinned, the carrier road well (in the stored position). It does require a standard two inch receiver - mine was a 2.5 inch receiver with adapter sleeve so I had to do a little adjustment for the anti-rattle device to work. Even so, the system is good quality per price. Construction is sound but I would recommend not pushing the weight limits. It does double for a nice access ramp for walking up to enter the shell we have in the back of the pickup. Using two adjustable jack stands provide stability when on the job site. Good product at a decent price. eTrailer was excellent to do business with too. They notified me via email my item was in stock and when it shipped. No regrets.

I love the MT70106 Cargo Carrier. It transports my Invacare Lynx L4 Mobility Scooter. It arrived in 2 days. I needed a carrier that could reverse the on-ramp from passenger-to-driver side. My vehicle is a 2013 Nissan Rogue and I had problems clearing some "unfamiliar" driveways and railroad tracks. No problem! I immediately called etrailer.com, ordered a 6" Riser/Drop and in just 2 days more, the problem was solved. All is well and I am happy! The best part of the experience was the representatives: Brian, Lacey and Lazer. They were the kindest folks ever. Each of them took time and answered all my questions down to details about the size and strength of the screws. The shipping was (deep south) FAST!!! Totally satisfied!

It may be possible to transport your 120 pound scooter using a hitch-mounted carrier on your 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE. • Is Assembly Required for MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier MT70106
No the MaxxTow Wheelchair Carrier # MT70106 does not come fully assembled. Some assembly is required using basic hand tools. If you go with a MaxxTow carrier I actually recommend # MT70260 because it has a longer ramp (60 inches compared to 48 inches). This means that the ramp will not be at a steep angle so it will be easier to load and unload things on the carrier.

  • Folding Wheelchair Carrier for Use on the Back of an RV
The reason that it is not recommended is because there the rear axle is further from the rear of an RV compared to that of a regular passenger vehicle. This means that there will be much more movement, both up and down and side-to-side, and will make the ride more rough. This is the case even for bike racks. There are only certain ones that have been tested and are compatible to handle the movement at the rear of an RV. That being said, the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier, part # MT70106,...

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for Use with MaxxHaul Carrier MT70106
What you would want is an anti-rattle device like the part # SHP2061 which will install in the shank of the # MT70106 and will take out the movement. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • License Plate Bracket Option for MaxxTow Wheelchair Carrier with Ramp
At the rear of the Maxxow Wheelchair carrier is a pretty large platform which could be used for attaching a license plate bracket like the part # LP15SB. This would be a great option unless you'd prefer the diamond plate part # CE26053A.

  • Carrier Recommendation for Mobility Scooter at Rear of Motorhome
The MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier, part # MT70106, has been confirmed to work on the back of an RV. You will just want to be sure that you do not exceed the Tongue Weight capacity of the trailer hitch receiver on your RV and this would work well with your 250 lb Eagle WX2 mobility scooter.

  • Cargo Carrier with Ramp Recommendation for a Jeep Wrangler Carrying a Vespa ET4
The MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier # MT70106 that you referenced has a 500 lb capacity and a distance of 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier. If the weight of your Vespa is less than 500 lbs it will be compatible with the carrier. You will need to make sure the weight of your Vespa and the carrier (87 lbs) isn't too much for the tongue weight capacity of your hitch.

  • Best Cargo Carrier with Ramp Recommendation for a Ford F250 for Landscaping Business
For your Ford F250 you will probably want the biggest carrier available, with the highest capacity and the longest ramp for your landscaping business. For that I would recommend the Curt 30x50 Cargo Carrier with Ramp part # C18112. This carrier has a 500 lb capacity with dimensions of 30 inches by 50 inches, a 48 inch ramp and is made of aluminum to resist corrosion. The only difference between it and the # MT70106 that you referenced is the length of the ramp and it is a steel construction....

  • Availability of Cargo Carrier to Carry an Adult Trike and a Standard Bicycle
We don't carry any hitch cargo carriers that are that large, the MaxxTow # MT70106 is as close as we have, at 30 by 50, but I believe a bike rack would be more like what you're looking for. We offer the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2, part # HR1450Z-E-TRKADP3 that can carry one trike and a regular two wheeled bike. The rack can accommodate two bikes weighing up to a combined 100 lbs. The rack is only compatible with 2 inch receiver hitches, and is capable of folding.

  • Can a Scooter be Ridden Up the Ramp and Onto a Trailer Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier
You would want to roll the scooter up onto the MaxxTow cargo carrier # MT70106. The combined weight of a person and the scooter would be too much weight for the ramp, shank, and hitch receiver to handle (since all of the weight would be pushing down on just one side of the carrier). I would go with the carrier that has the 60 inch long ramp, # MT70260. The longer the ramp is the less severe the angle up to the carrier will be and the easier that will make it to roll the scooter onto...
