Exact fit for the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" Item # 24884. Easy to assemble. Sturdy and well built carrier. I would suggest a LED Trailer License Plate Light w/ Bracket because the carrier will block the plate and light, as shown in the photo submitted.

I just assembled and installed my new 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches on my 2013 kia soul. Was easy to assemble and i am impressed with how solid it is once installed in hitch no wobble or movement. I plan on using this for hunting hauling muddy boots and gear will free up a lot of space inside of my kia. I will also use to haul gas jugs to refill.

This did great on a 5500 mile roadtrip and 150lbs of camping equipment. It held up well and the raised hitch made it nice for the steep inclines on trails so there was clearance. I did add amber reflectors on the side and red on the back from walmart for extra visibility.

I bought this for my Pontiac Vibe and love it! It's really easy to put on and take off. It also easily adapts to a 2" hitch for my wife's Subaru. I recently used it to pickup some snow tires/rims I bought on facebook. When not in use, it leans against the wall in my garage, out of the way. This is way easier than a roof top carrier. Plus, it's quieter and doesn't kill your MPG.

We've loved having this. It lets us treat our Prius like an SUV. We bought a large bin that fits the rack and strap that in - it's much more fuel efficient than strapping something on top of our car. Overall, it works great.

This cargo carrier worked great. Used it to move a rototiller, 2 hour trip. No damage or deformation to the carrier despite the tiller being near the top of the weight limit. The hitch bolt held the carrier firmly in place. It doesn't come with the lights, I installed light kit Item # 52014. Just had to drill four small holes (I knew this light kit wasn't specifically designed for this carrier, just wanted something cheap). Works great on a Town Car, lots of ground clearance. I'm very happy with this product.

This cargo carrier is sturdy and works well on a Mazdaspeed 3. The rise and slight angle make it so clearance is not an issue. The carrier is very easy to put together. I did install the 8 bolts through the connecting plates in reverse of the instructions so cargo would not be scratched or torn. It adds so much cargo space for our growing family. The only drawbacks are a lack of license plate frame and reflectors which are easily added with very little cost. I used a Cruiser license mount plate with zip ties and Reese DOT approved reflectors. I don't plan to use the carrier at night but there are many license plate lights that can be added as well. I also purchased the Rola carrier bag for hauling luggage and other indoor items.

The tray is strong and sturdy. I make sure the weight is balanced, but then I don't have to worry. Ample tie-down points. The only thing to note: when you build it, install the bolts so they are pointed outward. This will help keep you from scratching your stuff. I haven't bought any yet, but it would be worthwhile to find little rubber caps to install over the protruding bolts to help keep you from scratching yourself as you load it. I haven't, but it's a matter of time. All in all, I feel I made the right choice. It's a good price and a sturdy tray.

Product came with clear directions to assemble. Seems to be of good quality. Was hoping it would be made in the USA (did not check) like the Curt hitch I bought, but it was not. Not the end of the world. Only reason I am taking it down a notch is the mesh metal in the center bends a bit, not much but with ~155 lbs. on it I can get it to bend. But I will never have more than ~250 on it so it will work. Good for the price.

Etrailer provided excellent service and was great at recommending this cargo carrier. This cargo carrier was perfect for my 2011 Toyota Corolla with a 1 1/4 hitch. This cargo carrier not only fits without an adapter (much safer and can carry the load better), but it also is elevated over the hitch by another 4-5 inches to give greater clearance and it moves the cargo carrier away from the exhaust pipe. I worried about the heat from the exhaust pipe previously. This was easy to assemble and install (about 30 minutes). About 6 main parts + some bolts. Easy to install. I'm going to use this for a cross country road trip.

I found the 16#tork setting on the web site, but it should be included in the directions. I plan on using it to carry a tall propane tank to the refill station. I will be using the 1-1/4" only.

This is one of the lighter weight racks. It works well for what my needs are. However for those who need to carry heavier loads on a constant basis you may want to consider a heavier model. I am very pleased with the product, sellers commitment and the price.

Comments
It works great. I got it for our 3rd. vehicle and used it a few times. If I needed it on a regular basics I would consider a large-folding model. However for my usage it is well worth the money.

I wanted to let you know that both the hitch and carrier arrived and I have already installed them both. They are awesome! Shipping was fast and the box arrived in great condition. The video you have on your site helped out tremendously. I didn't have the use of a lift, but had a jack and two jack stands. It was a little difficult that way, but still doable.

Easy to put together and very useful for multiple purposes. Used with the MaxxTow cargo bag for camping and everything works as intended. Have also used the carrier for transporting other items such as empty barrels and it has lots of holes available for bungees and tie downs to connect to.

Over all great. The base mesh feels a little flimsy, but as long as weight is distributed across it evenly, it doesn't deform.

We recently bought a slightly used car with a 1 1/4 hitch already installed. This hitch gives us the flexibility to go on my wife car with the 1 1/4 hitch, or my car with the 2" hitch. We love having this rear platform to haul bulky items from our home in CT to my son's home in Chicago. It stands up to lots of weight, and offers a more aerodynamic option to a pod on the roof. Love etrailer.com! Item came quickly! Reasonable price! What's not to love?

I just returned home from a beach trip with my new cargo carrier. Overall it performed as needed. Having installed this on my 2006 Toyota Corolla I am happy I purchased a carrier with a rise in the shaft (raises the platform approximately 3" above the hitch insert). The carrier lightly scraped the ground a couple of times when pulling out of steeper parking lots onto the main road. Assembly took about 45 minutes doing this alone. Make sure you follow the directions and don't tighten the bolts the entire way, but make sure you tighten them enough that the square part of the bolt head will not fall out of the square hole or you run the risk of not being able to properly seat the bolts as you begin tightening all of the other bolts. I was slightly disappointed by the hitch pin. This does not use a standard slip through hitch pin and a standard pin will not fit. It instead has a threaded pin (included) that you need a 19mm socket (or box wrench) to tighten. I was hoping to use my Master Lock locking hitch pin, but was unable to because it was too large to fit through the threaded part of the carrier. There is a hole at the end of the threaded hit pin for a cotter pin so you may be able to put a small luggage zipper type lock in there for added security. The other disadvantage to the need for a socket is you need to take one with you on your trip if you plan to remove the cargo carrier, which I did for daily driving during the week around town. So again, overall it performed as needed and I would recommend this to a friend, but would make sure I pointed out the hitch pin setup as I don't think most people would expect this.

Comments
Its threaded so you dont have to watch your cargo bounce side to side and it makes for a quiter ride because the rack is on with the hitch. You can get a threaded hitch pin with lock too.

Comments
The carrier has worked very well and I use it regularly. I recently purchased a new vehicle with a 2 receiver so it was nice to be able to just use the included adapter and not have to buy a new carrier. I mentioned the hitch pin as a downside, but after use it really is not. I purchased a cheap luggage lock to minimize the chance of theft. I also picked up a really cheap 19mm wrench to keep in the car so taking the hitch pin in and out is no problem. I would definitely recommend this product. It has held up very well despite my frequent, rough use.

As always from E Trailer very quick 2 day delivery to Minnesota, packaged well so no damage. It took very little time to put the Curt cargo carrier together, it is now installed on the rear 3 point of my John Deere 1025R and will use it mostly to haul firewood cutting tools, chainsaws, wedges, safety gear, chains, ropes and whatever else I need. I can now tie everything down and won't have to haul everything in the loader bucket.

Comments
This works great, I have cut it down to only 48 wide so it would not catch on brush , I can still carry 2 chainsaws and gas and oil

Ask the Experts about this Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier

  • Why Won't Cargo Carrier Shank Fit Into Class I Trailer Hitch On 2019 Subaru Impreza
It sounds like you have a Class I Trailer Hitch like the Draw-Tite # DT24959 installed on your 2017 Subaru Impreza. Certain Class I trailer hitches like this one feature a tab inside the receiver that prevents higher class accessories from fitting properly. This was done by the manufacturer to prevent the trailer hitch and vehicle from being overloaded with higher class/heavier carriers or bike racks. Your existing Cargo Carrier is most likely a Class II or higher accessory, which is why...

When using a cargo carrier like the part # C18110 there are two capacities that you will need to consider. First is the weight capacity of the cargo carrier # C18110 which is 300 lbs. That just means the carrier is capable of carrying 300 lbs. Now the next capacity to consider is the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle you plan to use the carrier on. Also when considering this you need to consider the weight of this carrier at 30 lbs. The only way you'd be able to use the max capacity...

First lets talk about a hitch for your 2007 Toyota Prius, I would recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 24808. The reason for this is that Curt recommends you use a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 when you use a non-supported load on the hitch like a cargo carrier. Draw Tite doesn't have that requirement so I think you would be happier with the # 24808. Now the differences between the Curt Cargo Carriers part # C18110 and the # C18145 are pretty substantial. The nub you mentioned is actually there intentionally to prevent what you are trying to do as annoying as that sounds. If you happen to be looking for a cargo carrier with a rise, check out Curt...

  • Recommended Hitch Cargo Carriers with Rise in Shank for Better Clearance
Curt 2-inch hitch cargo carrier # C18110 offers a 300-lb load capacity and a shank with 3-3/4-inches of rise. The side rails are 2-3/4-inches tall. This is a fixed carrier that does not fold up against the vehicle. The etrailer off-road cargo carrier # e98875 might be the largest amount of ground clearance you will find at 11 inches total rise, it has a 500lb weight capacity and plenty of tiedown points. the only concern with this one is that there will likely be overhang because the...

  • Can a Class II Hitch on a Chrysler Town and Country Be Used to Transport a Mobility Scooter
The trailer hitch receiver on your Chrysler Town & Country has a safety warning sticker on it that will indicate the maximum tongue weight (TW) allowable for that hitch. This applies to both the 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch size hitch receivers made for your vehicle. The rated tongue weight capacity will include the weight of the carrier you choose to transport the scooter plus the weight of the scooter itself. For example, if your hitch has a tongue weight rating of 400 lbs, and you were...

  • Availability of Hitch Cargo Carrier for a 2013 Hyundai Elantra
We have cargo carriers that would work on your 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT, but since the hitch you would have installed would be a Class I hitch there are no folding options I can recommend. The Class I compatible carriers we offer like the part # C18110 do not fold up. Folding carriers tend to have a bit more movement which can be stressful on the lower capacity Class I hitches. Technically the cargo or the carrier should not block the license plate but in most cases people aren't...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier for a 2003 Toyota Camry with Low Ground Clearance
Because the ride height of your 2003 Camry is low and because of the angle of the road/driveway it would be best to use a trailer hitch mount cargo carrier that does have a rise in the shank such as # C18110. I do not recommend a straight-shank carrier for this vehicle and situation because it is much more likely to scrape the ground. The Curt carrier # C18110 is a good choice because it offers a 3-3/4 inch rise in the shank. I have linked the installation details for you.
