Video Transcript for Curt Folding Aluminum Cargo Carrier Review

Today we're going to review part number C18100 from Curt. This is their aluminum cargo carrier for 2" receiver hitches. I'll go ahead and cover some of the features of this cargo carrier. First off, it is designed to fit 2X2 trailer hitch receivers only. This cargo carrier does not come with the hitch and pin. Those are sold separately.

This also folds up when not in use, so you have room in your garage, or at the back of your vehicle. With the cargo carrier constructed from aluminum, it allows more weight left over for carrying capacity. This capacity of this cargo carrier is 500lbs, or the tongue limit of your hitch. This cargo carrier is easy to assemble using basic hand tools. I'll go ahead and cover the actual inside dimensions of the cargo carrier. Measuring on the inside at the very bottom, we have a distance of 60" across, 19"wide, and 2-3/4" tall.

We'll get one final measurement from the hitch pin to the outside edge of the cargo carrier to give you an idea of how much length is at the back of the vehicle, and that measurement will be about 30". You can also see along the edge of the rails of the cargo carrier, you see these circles. Those are intended for tie-down points. The smaller holes towards the outside edge are there in case you want to add some additional lights. It also has a provision for a license plate if you want to bolt it to the back.

One thing to remember when you tie down your cargo on all cargo carriers, do not attach to the expanded metal at the bottom. It's just not as strong as the sides are. With that, that will finish it for our review of part number C18100 from Curt. .

Very easy to assemble but it did not fit in the upright position on my 2011 Chevy Traverse. The license plate is in the bumper and the sides of the carrier impact the bumper on either side of the license plate when folded upright. The sides of the license plate are molded plastic that protrude from the bumper to house the lights for the plate. The simple fix was to bend the sides in a bit. That solution was better than trying to figure out how to extend the carrier further from the bumper to allow for another inch of clearance. The bend was easy using vice grips as the sides are aluminum. For the price and the 2X/year that I'll use this for beach chairs or extra luggage it's fine despite the fact it was not a perfect fit. What I like best is that it folds up and that it is very lightweight. It would be easy to stow on the roof rack if parking is tight or just to get it out of the way when accessing the trunk. And it'll come in handy if I ever have to haul the mower or blower to the shop since it's low ground clearance makes for easy loading and will keep my vehicle's interior from getting dirty. It would be nice if it came with a license plate holder that could be used in both flat and upright positions. I'll drill holes in the sides to mount the plate. A notice should be included to ensure that the license plate is not blocked from view when in use. We are driving to FL again this year and our concern is that Barney Fife will hassle us for an obstructed view of the plate. Last year we used a turtle top carrier but it is so high up on an SUV its impractical for quick trips to the beach. This carrier will be great for the cooler and sandy beach chairs and stuff. I'm thinking a large mesh utility bag to help keep all the stuff contained and make securing the load easier would be a nice extra. Last, it shipped on time and the order was complete with an additional item , a hitch lock, that all arrived in perfect condition. You need a lock for this b/c it is so light it'd probably be gone if you left it unlocked in a parking lot. Ordering was very easy! Thanks E-Trailer 476202

The Cargo Carrier was easy to assemble. The fact it's aluminum and not steel makes it light weight and easy to handle compared to the steel counterpart. The nice size makes it handy to store in the box of the pick-up or fold up on the hitch. Endless applications, just stay under 500 pound loads. 538447

Examined, assembled, and tested - not yet actually used on the road. The downsides are too minor to drop it to 4 Stars. I didn't have a scale handy, but this is easily about half the weight of the steel rack of the same size - Yes !! While I know from experience with sheet-metal shearing that VERY sharp edges can be created, my unit did not have much of any such problem. I recommend that these edges be carefully felt, and smoothed with a file or grinding stone if needed, before assembly. The instructions were clear and correct. I would use the word "snug" instead of "80%" to describe bolt tightening during assembly. Any experienced mechanic knows to not fully tighten any fasteners until all related alignment parts are in place. I would absolutely recommend that the bolts of Step 1 and 4 be inserted with the smooth head on the inside (where the bag would touch), rather than with nuts/bolts inside as pictured where they could cause damage. I would also absolutely use a dry lubricant, such as spray Teflon, on the contact surfaces between 2" shank #6 and foldable connection bar #9. This will allow you to tighten the big pivot bolt VERY snug, and still easily rotate the joint - DO NOT USE ANY LIQUID LUBRICANT. The hitch-pin hole location did not line up if fully inserted into my hitch. I could have used it that way, but I marked and drilled a better-location pin hole instead. The unit feels very strong - no sign of bending even with my 240 pounds bouncing on the rearmost end. Yes people, ALL hitches are wiggly "loose" by design - use a hitch tightener U-Bolt/Plate assembly, and/or actually tie the left and right ends to the vehicle. 276759

I havent had occasion to load it with 500 pounds, but I did put 300 pounds of trash bags on it dont ask and it worked just fine. There is some rust already showing on the steel parts - they could have been painted/coated better.

Great product once assembly is complete. Very light weight. I can easily lift the entire carrier with one arm. I'm not sure how it will hold 500lbs though because it feel so light...but Curt says it does so I will give it a try in a few weeks. The carrier wobbles just a little bit in the receiver but not enough to cause any concern or disappointment with the overall product. Two negatives though: 1. Assembly was easy but the instructions were completely crappy. If your not able to read a picture or have trouble following vague directions you may take a little longer to get this thing put together. 2. I can not fold the carrier all the way up. It hits my bumper. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and need about 1/4 inch more clearance to get the carrier up and in the locked position. I will have to buy an extender to use this feature. As with other stuff from etrailer, it came fast. There werent any holes in the box (unlike my trailer hitch) and the product was in great shape. Good customer service and the carrier got here a day earlier than scheduled. 28155

Did just fine with about 300 lbs and I imagine that up to the weight limit it will perform the same.

We chose this cargo carrier due to its ability to carry 500 lbs. and the fact that it is lightweight. We intend to put it on our camper van. I was very impressed with the speed and quality of service and follow-up provided by trailer. I would definitely purchase from them again. They have quality products at competitive prices. 171729

Still love the cargo carrier but unfortunately I was rear-ended last week and they crushed the cargo carrier! But the carrier took the brunt of the impact. We truly believe if it wasnt there, the damage would have been much worse. ??So I was going to order another when I received your message. How weird!?! Anyway, It still is great and we love it! Gonna order it now!

The cargo carrier is great! I used it all last year for my art shows, putting on it what didnt fit in the vehicle. The only comment would be some of the edges on the mesh used is extremely sharp, so i had to get a piece of indooroutdoor rug and put over the whole carrier so it would not rip my carrier bag. I like the weight, easy for me to put on by myself. First time a company has ever checked on their products a year after! Thanks! I will certainly contact you if I have other needs! Jan

Quick and Easy to Assemble Always wear hand protection, when assembling this cargo carrier. One slip of my socket wrench caused me to slice two of my fingers, on the very sharp, aluminum mesh bottom, of the carrier, and sent me to the emergency room for two stitches in my right pinky, and three in my ring finger. All in all, the carrier was very easy to put together, and the only negative that I experienced with it so far, is that the receiver end wobbles, when mounted into the bumper 2x2" square hole. I need to make some sort of shim, to eliminate this problem. Otherwise, this cargo carrier is very well made and particularly light-weight and easy to handle, yet very sturdy. It would be very nice if reflective red safety tape had been provided for the carrier, for improved night driving visibility of the carrier. I suggest that a safety statement, recommending the use of gloves, be mentioned in the assembly instructions and that the mesh floor, of the carrier, is razor sharp, so be careful, during assembly. All in all, I really like this aluminum cargo carrier..... 3265

I just did 800 miles with this cargo carrier and had no problem, but make sure you purchase the anti rattle pin because it has some play in the hitch. 167460

I ordered this platform for my CX-7 along with a 2" Hidden Hitch. I received my entire order a day early and everything was in good order. As for the aluminum platform...easy to assemble and lightweight. When it's mounted on the car and folded-up, it just barely misses touching the bumper. The weak link in this is the main hinge-pivot bolt. Once removed, the rest of the platform could be easily stolen from the back of the vehicle. I'm going to order a second locking pin to make it more secure. Another issue is the proximity of the tailpipes to the platform when it is in either position. I plan to install some sheet metal deflectors to direct the exhaust towards the ground. Ultimately, it took about 30 minutes to assemble, installed easily on the CX-7, fits excellent and it looks great. It doesn't stick out too far and doesn't cover the license plate or taillights when folded up. 202967

Works fine. Easy to assemble, no issues at all, took about 45 minutes. Been using it weekly or more for over a month. I use it for hauling garbage to the dump and carrying jerrycans of gas outside the vehicle. Only concern is that it's a bit flimsy--the platform flexes and the sides bend a bit more than I like when I ratchet down the straps to hold on the cargo, but that's aluminum for you. It takes the 100+ lbs I carry, but I'm skeptical about the 500 lb rating. Little nervous about loading my snowblower on to it. Lightweight, easy easy to install and remove, stores easily in the garage. Folds up nicely against the back of my 4Runner, though it does obscure the licence plate about 1/2 way. Police don't seem too concerned--so far. I purchased also anti-rattle hitch pin--highly recommended. Without this, the carrier shakes a lot from side to side. Would I buy this again?--oh yeah. 176337

The assembly is a little challenging and the instructions are cumbersome. Also, seems like the bar going into the hitch is loose. All in all for the price it is a decent cargo carrier. I bought reflective tape and a hitch pin lock, to insure safety. Would be nice to have these available through this site. 95387

Product arrived in good shape, and was easy to assemble, install, and rotate to the folded position. There was one trick I had to come up with myself, and it would have been nice to have it mentioned in the instructions. When installing the first four carriage bolts (per the instructions, only the top two on each side), it was very hard to keep the bolt from rotating as I worked through the nut's locking collar. However, once it occurred to me to insert the lower bolt, thereby keeping the connecting plate from rotating, it was much easier to tighten the lock-nut. Have not tested the unit under load yet, but it is clear that an anti-rattle clamp of some sort will definitely be needed ~ I will be ordering the MaxxTow 4-bolt style from etrailer right after I finish this review. 363441

Assembly was very straightforward on a simple design. The assembled unit is not very heavy; I've had 2 disks removed from my back and have a heart condition and I can move it with one hand, but it is much easier with 2, and likewise for my healthy wife. I bought this to be an intermediate step for my large dogs to help them get into the back of an E350 'church van' that has a raised plywood floor where the last rear seat has been removed. Our older dog is 9 1/2 and can't make the jump as easily as previously. He refused to walk up a ramp, so I'm trying this with carpet cut to fit the bottom. First try was not successful, but he also knew we were not really going anywhere. This is everything a cargo carrier should be. And I am pleased with the price and the service. 323450

The dogs refuse to use it the way I had hoped, and it has not had any other use. I did buy a hitch tightener, which needed to be milled to work with this carrier, and that now does snug everything up nice and tight.

Very happy with the carrier. The cargo bag I bought to go with it didnt last the first trip. The bottom of the bag was shredded by the grating on the carrier. Need a protective mat or barrier under the cargo bag.

Great product. Exactly as advertised!!!! After reading many other product reviews I settled on Curt because. I’ve used their products in the past and know their quality is above reproach. The one thing that made this the best is the ease of putting it together. In 45 minutes I had it on the explorer and carrying garden refuse to the recycle landfill. Have not used on a long trip yet but will be going to Colorado in a couple weeks and will give it a good workout. I’m a graybeard and the aluminum frame makes it easy to handle, putting on and off . Reason we bought the extension was because its getting harder to put the roof rack on and off the explorer. Looking forward to years of using it. This is a top of the line product. 528124

I chose this carrier due to being the lightest weight for its size and load rating. Additionally, I was looking for a dual purpose carrier to haul bulky items outside the vehicle and full sized mountain bikes. The carrier is simple to assemble, easy to install/remove, and store. As for hauling mountain bikes, I added a fork axle mount to a piece of oak. Bottom line - for less than the price of dedicated hitch bike rack with the optionality to haul firewood and fuel to the trailhead it's worked great. 373088

Will be using this rack to carry luggage on our vacation in June. We have given it a trial run around town and think it will work very well. It was easy to put together, but needs elements to make it more stable. It tips left and right more than I like, and it is too loose in the receiver. I would rather have the design and parts correct rather than having to find fixes after the fact. However, it will do the job, is light enough for my wife to put it on our car when necessary, and gear ties down well. Be careful of the fold up feature, we can not tip our rack up as it hits the car. It is too close. I should have asked how to determine this prior to ordering. 132299

Received the rack just 3 days after ordering! It was very easy to assemble. I really like that the rack is so light and easy to handle since I will be putting it on and taking it off frequently. I also like the folding mechanism which is easy to use. After putting the rack together and putting it on my car I loaded it up with a lawn mower, gas can, and line trimmer. It all fit with no problem. Of course, the lawn mower was a little wider than the rack, but that really wasn't an issue. Used the stretch net (part # 7330) to secure everything. I am very pleased with the products and the service from etrailer.com. 10837

Replacing a steel rack that was stolen form our yard. So we thought of upgrading to a folding aluminum rack. Very easy to put together an feels solid. Folding feature works easily. One of the braces had a manufacturing defect. When I called etrailer they were very responsive and said they would get us a replacement part right away. The next day a complete new rack was sent fedex from Curt, including a return shipping label. We live in the middle of nowhere and it usually takes an extra day for most shipments to get to us. We will use the rack primarily on the back of an Expedition to haul diesel fuel cans. 503697

The carrier is just as stated on the site. One major problem is that it is stated to be for a 2 inch hitch. I have a 2 inch Reese hitch and when you slide this into the hitch sleeve it does not fit snug, this allows your carrier to move over 2 inches on either side allowing everything to shift that is placed onto the carrier platform. Even with things strapped down you still have to add extra stability to prevent the carrier from moving up and down on each side. I have had to add straps from the carrier to the roof rack of my van to drive safely without feeling like things are shifting. 180098

Nice product. It takes a little time to put together, and you've really got to read the instructions carefully, but once together it is very strong and solid. It's worked well on the back of my van for numerous camping trips where I put large storage boxes on it. I also leave it folded down while at the campsite, and it becomes a handy shelf at the back of the van, or a convenient step up. Very heavy duty and reliable. I bought some red reflective tape and put large strips of it on back and sides of the rack, for safety and visibility on the road. 517785

The rack was easy enough to put together and is light enough for my wife to handle. I was hoping to use it to carry a motorcycle as it is rated at 500lbs and has holes to attach tie-downs. It seem a bit flimsy for this. For added security I would probably utilize some type of solid bottom say for tires to spread their load more evenly. For hauling bicycles or luggage I think it will work great. I really like that it can fold up when not being used, though it doesn't have any anti-rattle additions I can't say as we haven't actually used it yet. 30748

I just put my carrier together, It felt a little lighter than I expected but if it holds 500 lbs that will be more then I need. The only thing I don't care for is the receiver is very loose in the hitch. you can move the carrier up and down ( at the back ) about two inches. I saw this on another review. it is like the carrier shaft is quite a bit smaller then the hitch it goes in, I have 2 inch hitch, rattles when driving up a bumpy road, will need to slip some thin shims in to take up space. I find all of this minor, Like the carrier. 49448

Fasteners and brackets well designed for use. Product well finished and delivery was prompt. 1" wrench - socket / open / box end needed for assembly which is not usually a part of a consumer tool set. This sent me searching but the directions and product is top grade. I am glad the self-locking nuts were used rather than lock washers. Would recommend seating the M10*83 Carriage Bold before tightening the M10*20. I plan to use the carrier for hauling a generator and or auxiliary black water tank for primitive camping. 7426

Great cargo rack. Light weight and sturdy. Recently took it on a 1600+ mile trip, over 24 + hours of driving, in sun, wind, and rainy conditions. No issues. The rack went together easily. Probably took about 45 min to an hour to build. My only recommendation is it would be nice if it came with a little key chain full of a few thin metal shims, of various thicknesses, that you could shove into the hitch to limit the amount of rocking the rack does during a trip. Admittedly, this is an issue with most hitch racks. 362097

I purchased this item due to its lighter carry weight as I will store it in an attic when not in use. Reasonably light considering the capacity. When I inventoried the fasteners included for assembly against the instruction sheet, the quantities appeared short. I decided to assemble what I could and then contact the company with what was missing. It all worked out and seems the instructions are for multiple models of similar design. Unit is stout and well made. Assembly was easy over a large cup of coffee. 86425

Cargo carrier arrived promptly, and with great customer service support via email. Not hard to put together, but the instructions could have been clearer. Surprisingly light, but seems sturdy enough, however, it hasn't been used yet. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough clearance between the vehicle and the edge when folded, but this doesn't seem to be an issue. I bought some reflective tape for the corners to enhance safety. An overall sound investment that I expect to get many years of use from. 50081

I ordered a few items from etrailer.com. They shipped immediately. When I received the box of goods, I was astounded by the quality of the cardboard shipping box (very heavy duty) and how well everything was packed. Bravo to the packing guy. His/her use of extra pieces of cardboard and that staple gun is excellent. You have an excellent site. Great products and I love the reviews. You provide all the information so I can decide what works for me. Thanks, Kelly 320151

We have made a few 600-800 mile road trips with our 6 person family in our Tesla Model X and we love the aluminum rack, waterproof bag, super cool tie down straps and especially the hitch lock. Onlookers have come up to me on our trips and asked about my setup and I tell them how flexible it is in handling varying load sizes and when I am not using it, the compact storage. You should list my setup as a package recommendation on your website.I really couldnt be happier with everything.

One word of advice for other infrequent tool handlers- Really, Really don't tighten the connections completely until all of the nuts and bolts are in place. I went back and forth a few times because I ignored this in the instructions. 114287

Used this carrier a few times now. Very lightweight which is the main reason I purchased this one. Hangs nicely on the garage wall. Never really pushed the weight limit so cant speak to that. Normally used to carry gas cans, push mower, camp fire wood and similar things I dont want in my X5. Assembly was a little tricky, took longer than expected but no big deal. Never used in the winter, so no idea how it would handle road salt long term. 249271

Great product. Very light and easy to mount on the rzr but holds a lot of weight. Put about 250 pounds or so on it and it didn't bend. Carried the load up the trail and didn't bend or break on me with all the bumps and bangs I hit. Loved the fact that it folded up when I unloaded it so it wasn't hanging out with nothing on it. Got back home and used it as a step to get into the back and clean up the rzr and felt solid as a rock. 229291

I would give this product 5 stars but I just put it together and haven't used it yet. However assembly was a breeze. It took just 35 minutes to assemble. The fit in the receiver was good and when in the folded position there is plenty of clearance. The only thing I did was add 4 reflectors for visibility amber on the sides and red on the back edge. I mainly bought this for hauling 5 gallon fuel cans and hauling harvested deer. 538618

I've had this carrier for over a year now and used on several long, medium, and short trips. My brother borrows it frequently as well. It's very well built and strong. The very best feature is that it's so light weight, moving it around, installing and removing is so easy. It is also very nice to have a fold-up feature when not in use, but you still want to keep it attached to the hitch. Get it! You won't regret it. 383902

So far so good, the direction were fine and it went together rather well. I will be putting it to the test in a week, I can't see any problems. What I really like to review is the service,it is excellent, all questions were answered and the service was outstanding. The package came on time and not damaged. Etrailer does care about the customer, and they show it on all fronts. Thank you for the help, 123195

Great so far. Lightweight, assembled easily, and I love the use of locknuts for durable assembly. But there was an error in the assembly sheet: The 8 short bolts holding the 2 halves of the rack together are shown with the heads on the outside and the sharp bolt ends inside the cargo area. The pic on the box was correct. the rest of the instructions were difficult to understand; more pix would help. 72774

The hitch was poorly designed, between the play in the receiver, the pin and the hitch, the thing droops off the back of the car by a good 5 to 8 degrees even unloaded. Good engineering would have accounted for the bolt clearances and adjusted the bolt locations, so the level position could be acomplished. The hinge pin should have been 1/16th higher then the unit would ride level on the car. 266016

Great product. It is lightweight, but strong. The included rotation mount to turn up 90 deg is great. My previous one, I had to use an additional product to turn it up. It weighed as much as this whole unit. I added reflectors and reflective tape on it. The predrilled holes for tie downs are great. So far, I love this product. 89510

Delivered as promised, all the pieces were there, assembled by myself in about an hour..Looks like it will work great. Only suggestion might be to include some reflective paint or decals on the corners. While not necessarily required by law, I think it is a good idea to have, and now will have to go purchase separately... 448643

Product is a Great Buy and well suited for my purpose too. Assembly instructions were a little out of whack but, I was ale to look at the pictures and do the total assembly prior to tightening all the bolts and nuts. It's ability to carry 500 lbs. and yet be so light to install on the vehicle is absolutely phenominal. 31639

This cargo carrier is an excellent unit, light-weight and with the ability to carry a heavy load. I have a steel unit with the same carrying capacity that is much more difficult to pick-up and put into the receiver because of its total weight. I rate this unit a 5 out of 5 stars for being an excellent product. 442966

Purchased the 20x60 Aluminum cargo carrier & Class 3 hitch from Draw tite. The product arrived undamaged and with all the extra parts and instructions to install. We (me & Son) worked this as a training project....easy install. It took us less then the estimated 1.5hrs to install. Very satified. 39832

Absolutely 100% satisfied with this purchase! It meets all the needs that I have for it. I frequent dog shows and able to transport an XL crate and grooming table without taking up room in my SUV. The quality is great. Have used it in all kinds of weather and still looks new. 455430

Product is as described. Not too bad to assemble. Very light weight, but strong. Love that it is aluminum and you don't have to hassle with the weight and the rust! Definitely recommend the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock however to take some of the motion out of it. 269159

Ask the Experts about this Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier
Do you have a question about this Hitch Cargo Carrier?

  • Aluminum vs. Steel Cargo Carrier are there Any Disadvantages for Aluminum Construction
  • You are correct there is a weight advantage for aluminum, item # C18100, over steel, item # CC-100, but the biggest reason aluminum is considered over steel, for most of our customers, is corrosion resistance and appearance. You do not need to upkeep the carrier with spray paint every couple of years with aluminum like you do steel. As far as disadvantages, there really are none. As long as the weight capacity of the aluminum carrier is rated the same as the steel carrier they will both...

  • Raising a Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Out of Exhaust Path on a Buick Enclave
  • On any vehicle that has exhaust that exits straight out the back and not out the side or towards the ground could potentially damage a trailer hitch mounted item and its contents. I believe I have a great solution for you though. To get enough distance from the exhaust you can use multipurpose ball mount # D210 and that will get you plenty far from the exhaust. For a carrier, if using the multipurpose ball mount, you can use any carrier that fits a 2 inch receiver. The receiver portion...

  • What Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2013 Chevrolet Equinox for Use With a Cargo Carrier
  • Your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox can be equipped with two different sizes of trailer hitch receiver, either a 1-1/4-inch or a 2-inch. Since loaded coolers can be fairly heavy I will suggest you go with a 2-inch hitch to give you the maximum carrying capacity for your coolers and other tailgating essentials. We offer the Draw-Tite # 75270, which has a 675-lb tongue weight rating. This will be more than adequate for the weight of a cargo carrier plus your coolers and other gear. This bolt-on...

  • Does Curt Folding Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 Have License Plate Mounting Holes, Does it Rattle
  • I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier, # C18100. She stated that there are no holes specifically for mounting a license plate. However, what can be done is to drill the necessary holes if needed. If any of the holes line up, you can use them for a license plate. There will be some rattle or play at the folding bracket. It can be kept to a minimum with all the hardware installed and tightened properly. With any folding carrier, there will always...

  • Recommendation for Largest Aluminum Folding Cargo Carrier and Waterproof Bag
  • Thanks! We work very hard to keep a killer website and I'm glad that you found it helpful. The 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18100, is a great option. This carrier is constructed of durable aluminum making it light weight and rustproof. For added convenience, this carrier folds up and out of the way when not in use. I recommend that you take a couple measurements on your 2012 BMX X5 to make sure that the carrier will clear the rear bumper when using the folding feature. Measure from...

  • Recommendation For Cargo Net To Use on the Curt 20 x 60 Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier, # C18100
  • For a cargo net on your Curt 20 x 60 Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier, part # C18100, I would recommend the Cargo Net, part # C18202, or the Thule Cargo Net, part # TH692. Both of these cargo nets would work fine on your Curt cargo carrier. I am including a link to a video review on the Thule cargo net.

  • Light Weight Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier for a 2013 Buick Enclave
  • As far as weight aluminum cargo carriers will be much lighter than steel ones of the same size. I recommend going with an aluminum carrier for this reason and because they are corrosion resistant. We have 2 aluminum cargo carriers and they are both rated for 500 pounds. • Light Kit and License Plate Bracket Recommendation for a Curt Cargo Carrier

Once you drilled holes to install the # 6504 on the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18100 it would install pretty easily and work very well. The Tow Package Wiring Harness # 118251 would also be the correct harness for your 2008 Ford Escape. I linked installation instructions and an installation video for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier and Bike Adapter to Carry Two Bikes on Rear of Travel Trailer
  • I don't recommend using a folding carrier on the rear of a travel trailer, and here's why. Due to the stiffer suspension and the long rear overhang (distance between the rear axle and the back bumper) any accessory installed in a hitch at the rear of a travel trailer will be subjected to much more severe bouncing and jarring forces than would be experienced if the accessory were installed in a hitch on a passenger vehicle. The folding portion of the carrier is a likely failure point, which...

The weight capacity should not be an issue since each of the cargo carriers you mentioned have a weight capacity of 500 lbs, but the wobble could make the step uneasy if you do not step directly in the center of the cargo carrier. You should also keep in mind that the floor of the cargo carrier is metal and moisture could...
