I bought this cargo carrier to haul my wife's wheelchair when we go on vacation. The "foldable connection bar" is not long enough to let me fold the cargo carrier up on my 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. I could have bought an aluminum carrier locally that did not fold up. 544063

On the hitch mounted accessories we offer, we always provide the clearance distance necessary to install and fold when applicable the carrier or bike rack. If you use the provided link, you can see a help article that explains how to measure in order to determine the needed clearance.

I chose this carrier due to being the lightest weight for its size and load rating. Additionally, I was looking for a dual purpose carrier to haul bulky items outside the vehicle and full sized mountain bikes. The carrier is simple to assemble, easy to install/remove, and store. As for hauling mountain bikes, I added a fork axle mount to a piece of oak. Bottom line - for less than the price of dedicated hitch bike rack with the optionality to haul firewood and fuel to the trailhead it's worked great. 373088

Instructions were good product is excellent. Product arrived ahead of schedule and I was able to get it assembled shortly thereafter. Check my photos. My hitch clamp would not work with the product and I need a storage box. 665976

Lightweight yet sturdy. Perfect for hauling ice chests to our vacation home rental at the beach. Put a few reflective decals on it. Love the way it folds up! 920068

So far the carrier is holding up fine. I only have it attached to the car for a few months in the fall then store it away for the rest of the year. I've only done light carrying thus far....hay bails, firewood. I like that it folds up against the back of the car.... I'm glad I decided to get that style. 898161

Purchased this to replace almost identical unit I’ve had for 17 years I just have to my son. Old unit was all aluminum. The new is steel on structural parts. Heavier but stronger. I use to haul sewer hose box, steps, Grill, camp chairs firewood. 870979

Used it on the back of our van for a 14,000 mile trip through western U.S. and to Alaska and back. Performed excellently. Liked that it was light and could be folded up out of the way when not needed. Will be using it again on our road trip this summer. 822246

I've only used this a couple times in the year I've had this, but it was great for a 10 hour trip to Ocean City, Md and the return trip. I love that it's lightweight and rigged it up to hang from the ceiling in my garage. 819406

I really want to like this product. It is lightweight and very easy to install on my hitch. I use it about a dozen times a year to carry gas cans to refill my boat. It’s the ideal size and carries the cans quite well. Unfortunately is is already beginning to show signs of wear with some of the welds holding the base mesh to the frame failing. There are also a few dents developing in the mesh where the wheels on my gas tank meet the base. Giving how few times I’ve used it, and how little time it has spent on the car, I am very surprised to see these failures. I have some concerns about long-term durability. That said, it still works great for what I need and am happy that it is so easy to install. 817872

by:

Light weight but strong. Works great for hauling whatever (gas cans etc.) with plenty of attachment points but is too close to vehicle when folded up (hits when road is bumpy) so I can't use it that way. The receiver was installed out as far as possible too. 809680

Could not be better. Aluminum light and sturdy. Stores easily, carries easily. I have it on a Jeep Wrangler with a tire on the back. The hing is not long enough to let me fold the carrier up when not in use. For someone ordering for a Jeep you may want to take this into consideration. No matter the carrier is a great buy. 793604

This cargo carrier is amazing. Easy to assemble, and once assembled, it folds for easy storage. Best of all, it's one of the lightest carriers and I can maneuver it myself without requiring hernia surgery afterwards. We used it on a 2000 mile road trip, loaded up with overflow luggage in a cargo bag and not one moment's issue with the thing. Really great, reliable product that's super easy to use. 786514

  • Can I Use A Hitch Extender With The Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 To Carry A 150lb Load?
Yes, you can use the Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 with your 2020 Chevy Equinox with a hitch extender like the Brophy 7" Hitch Extender # HE06. Since you are only going to be carrying about 100-150lbs it will be fine, but keep in mind that when you use a hitch extender you limit the accessory to about 50% of its original weight capacity. I like using the aluminum carriers for situations like yours because you can just hose the carrier off when you unload the deer and you won't have...

Our most popular folding cargo carrier among our 2011 Honda CR-V customers is the Curt Aluminum Folding Cargo Carrier, # C18100. This is an excellent lightweight carrier that fits 2 inch trailer hitches. I don't recommend using a folding carrier on the rear of a travel trailer, and here's why.
