Hitch Pin Hole Depth

Note: For proper installation, this rack requires your hitch receiver to have a minimum distance of 1-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the receiver.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro 2 Bike Rack

The Thule DoubleTrack Pro platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. Adjustable, padded clamps hold your bikes firmly by the frames. Large, sliding wheel cradles accommodate bikes of different lengths, and they're designed to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide. The integrated HitchSwitch lever allows the rack to fold up against the vehicle for storage, and the included One-Key System lock cylinders secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Adjustable, Padded Clamps and Sliding Wheel Cradles

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Frame Clamps

The DoubleTrack Pro's adjustable frame clamps allow you to easily load 2 bikes of almost any size or shape. The 2 clamps move up and down the central mast independently, and they rotate as needed to grab any part of the bike's frame you need them to. The versatile clamps can secure your bike by the top tube, the downtube, or even the seat post, so you'll never have to worry about finding a contact point. The inner jaws of the clamps have a padded TPE lining. This padding helps absorb road shock and vibration and protects your bike frames from scratches and scuffs.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Sliding Wheel Cradles

The sliding wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 50" long. To adjust the cradles simply open the cam levers, slide the cradles to the desired location, and then close the cam levers. The large, deep cradles can hold fat tires up to 5" wide, and they include extra-long, ratcheting wheel straps to secure your bikes to the tray. The grooves running through the center of the cradles securely hold road bikes.

HitchSwitch Lever Folds Rack Up for Storage

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Folds for Storage

An integrated HitchSwitch lever at the base lets you fold the rack up against your vehicle when not in use.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Folding Mast

To fold the rack up for storage you must first lower the central mast. Simply press the button on the front of the rack to fold the mast down.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro HitchSwitch Lever

Then just pull up on the HitchSwitch lever located at the end of the stinger, and lift the rack up. It will lock into place with an audible click.

Easy Installation with Threaded Hitch Pin

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Anti-Wobble Threaded Hitch Pin

The DoubleTrack Pro easily installs in your hitch with the included threaded hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and then tighten it down with the included tool. The pin also works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Removable Adapter

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Complete Security

The rack comes with One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle with a single key.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Locking Hand Knobs

The hand knob on each clamp includes a lock cylinder to secure your bikes to the rack. Once locked, the hand knobs spin free. This prevents would-be thieves from breaking the lock by over-tightening the clamps.

Thule DoubleTrack Pro Hitch Pin One-Key System Lock

The hitch pin also houses a lock cylinder to keep the rack from being removed from your hitch. One-Key System cylinders can be swapped out to make all of your Thule gear keyed alike.

Video Transcript for Thule DoubleTrack Pro 2 Bike Platform Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule DoubleTrack Pro Platform Style 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. Part number TH9054. The Thule DoubleTrack Pro holds up to two bikes of almost any size or style including fat bikes. It secures our bikes in three locations. We've got a wheel strap for our front and rear cradles and then we have a large clamp holding our frame. The wheel cradles themselves are adjustable along the platform to accommodate wheel bases up to 50". The cradles will accommodate a road bike tire, a standard mountain bike tire, and fat tires up to 5" wide.

The strap itself features a rubber pad to protect our wheels. The center mast clamps are rubber coated to protect our bike's finish. They're going to work with a tube diameter of up to 3-3/16". They're very versatile in that they rotate and pivot to accommodate our top top tube, down tube or seat post tube reducing the need for a bike adaptor bar. Once you tighten down your ergonomic hand knob, they lock to prevent anyone from moving your bike from your bike rack. With both bikes removed, the center mast has the ability to fold down allowing us easy access to our rear hatch.

Simply press in the gray button, fold it down til it snaps in, and as you can see, we've got plenty of room to remove any cargo, gear, groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. With the bike rack not in use, we can also fold it up against our vehicle for compact storage. We'll simply come down to the gray lever here and rotate it up until it snaps in. Now this would be ideal for pulling into your garage or in a close quarter parking spot. The inside rattle bolt reduces all the play and rattle within our receiver and our bike rack to make a nice solid ride for our bikes and bike rack. The lock on our anti-rattle bolt is inaudible 00:01:58 to the locks on our clamps and two keys are included. The whole bike rack is made out of a sturdy steel construction with a black powder coat finish so it's going to resist rust and corrosion.

It has a weight capacity of 37.5 pounds per bike and it features a limited lifetime warranty. On our test course let's first go into our slalom; this is going to show side to side action such as going round corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our solid speed bumps; this is going to show an up and down action such as pulling in and out of a driveway or out of a parking lot. And then finally onto our alternating speed bumps; this is going to show a twisting action such as driving over potholes or uneven pavement. Customers on our site are comparing this to the Kuat Transfer Platform Style 2 Bike Rack. Both can carry two bikes and they're both also going to fit your 1-1/4" and 2" receiver. Both bike racks also have the capability of carrying fat bikes.

The Kuat, however, the fat bike strap is sold separately whereas the Thule strap is included. Kuat does hold our bikes with zero frame contact and has the ability to tilt away - with bikes loaded - to gain access to our rear hatch; whereas the Thule does not tilt away, it does lock our clamps to our bike's frame. Kuat does have locks available but they're sold separately. Now that we know all the features I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. The vehicle we're going to be working with today has a 2" receiver. I've already got my included 2" sleeve installed on my shank, let's go ahead and put it into our receiver. Then we'll just line up our pinholes. Once we've got those lined up, we'll take our included anti-rattle bolt and lock . you can thread that through on either side. Once I get that hand tightened, I'll take my included tool and tighten that down the rest of the way. With the anti-rattle bolt tightened down we can go ahead and take our lock, put that on the end and lock it up. Now let's load up some bikes. We'll need to lower down the platform position and then raise up our center mast. To lower down the platform position, we've got a gray lever here in the center . lower it down until it snaps into place. Our center mast comes up by pushing in on the gray button here, then we raise that up until it snaps in. Since we're going to be loading up a fat bike first, we'll need to reconfigure our straps for fat tires. So I'm going to take it out, remove the rubber pad, then I'll guide the strap back down through. Once we see it coming out, like so, we can just pull it the rest of the way out. Then instead of going through the slot that we just came out of, we're just going to go through the open spot here alongside of our cradle. As you can see, by doing just that, we've got more strap to work with. Then we can replace our rubber pad. Then we'll just repeat the same process for our other cradle. Now it's recommended that we load the heaviest bike first, in this cases it's going to be our fat bike. I'm going to bring it round, I'll set my front tire in the cradle first and then my rear tire. As you can see with the rear cradle, we need to make some adjustments. No problem, we're just going to lift up on our gray lever, slide it back until it's where we want, and then lock it back down in place. With our bike in position, let's attach our clamp to our frame. I'm just going to adjust it upward on the center mast here by pushing in on the gray button, want to raise it up, then I'm going to rotate it in and then raise it up like this. With it there, I can now tighten up my knob. Now there's no reason to over tighten, just get it nice and snug and then you're all set. With our bike being held in place by our clamp, we can now run our straps. We want to be sure to go between our spokes . I'll be sure to adjust my rubber pad so it sits right on my wheel, then I'll connect it into the ratchet on the side and then pull it down nice and tight. With my first bike loaded up, I'm going to go ahead and load up my second bike but I'm going to load it up the opposite direction. That way, my handle bars do not make contact with one another. I'm going to set it in my front and rear cradles. With both of our bikes secure, let's go ahead and lock up our knobs. We'll take our two included keys and by doing so, as you can see, the knob free spins and no one can remove our bikes. That's going to complete our look at the Thule DoubleTrack Pro Platform Style 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. Part number TH9054.

At the time, I was a little hesitant to purchase a newer model bike rack without many reviews, but thanks to the video tutorial on this site explaining how to hook it all up, I felt more at ease with the purchase. I have been very happy with the rack for the past year, and have used it many many times, all without issue. I definitely recommend it. 525611

First I'll start with a tip if the hat to customer service! Excellent assistance when my intial order was discontinued and the newer model was shipped to me at same cost! The rack itself is made well and easy to put together. Thule evens Supply's the correct wrench and Allen key. The only concerns is the Movement of the bracket into the hitch. The plastic bushing, will become Worn sooner than later. I hope They sell replacements. Totally satisfied customer!! 432598

This Thule bike rack does have its own built in anti rattle lock. If you are still experiencing movement, the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch part # RM-061
Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches
for 2 inch hitches or the RM-061-125 for 1-1/4 inch hitches are effective options to tighten up the space.

Like it, I love, love, love it. I am a widow, living alone, who loves to path bike alone and with friends. My first rack as not a hitch mount and was very difficult to put on with straps and then when I used my car 5th door, I could not. I was very unhappy. I called your store and told the salesperson my situation and that I was buying anew car and could get it with a hitch. I explained my situation and together we chose this model for its ease of use, locking ability for the mount and bikes, and MY ability to put it on and take it off without another person. I did have my nephew make a small dolly for me put move it in and out of the garage and to store the rack on during the winter. I can easily get anything in and out of the back of my car. AND it goes through he car wash too. I love this thing. And I really like etrailer sales assistance, service and follow up. Great company. 502484

Just received the product, unboxed and put together. Very nice packaging, all arrived promptly and in good shape. Before you start, I would recommend you assemble by placing the receiver in your trailer hitch, or use a 6 ft plastic table, keep all the parts close by and organized. Thule instructions are slightly challenging, no words with the drawings to help out but anyone with a tiny bit of mechanical ability can handle it easily. Took me about an hour start to finish and I was in no rush. If you simply review one or two of the eTrailer videos, you will see how things are supposed to work so again, it's no big deal to put together. Couple recommendations, all minor IMHO, but may help make your installation a tad easier: - get a ratchet socket and dedicate it to your bike gear. The Thule multi tool included will endure both some frustration and sore knuckles otherwise. Plus adding it to your hitch and removing it from time to time will be so much easier with the socket readily available and keep your knuckles in good shape also. - take the end wrench they supply and fit into the end of each of the 5 screws before working with them. The fit is a tad bit off and its much easier if you seat the wrench before trying to screw them in. - when you bolt the two main sections together, tighten the bolts from the bottom, that way the plastic cover will stay out of your way and you won't risk scratching your new carrier - the lock lugs are a bit confusing to work with at first but easy enough, just test all your keys to make sure they work easily. There will be an extra key, different code number, that is used to remove the lugs if need be. Don't toss it, just mark and keep The hitch quality seems very solid in person, very pleased with that, and the price for the features is very nice. I can not say enough about the awesome, amazing customer service at eTrailer though, they have been responsive, helpful, totally professional and have all sorts of tools and answers to anything you may need help with. I highly recommend eTrailer.com, their staff and the value you will receive. More to come as I use the hitch this summer and fall! 672034

I had recently received a Thule bicycle rack from etrailer. Unfortunately the weather had taken a sharp turn and we are now in the midst of a series of snowstorms. As such, I will await better weather before taking a closer look at this item. However, I was extremely pleased with the service regarding the purchase. etrailer had responded to my questions and the corresponding videos were extremely informative. The item shipped fast and this organization gave one the feeling that they were there every step of the way. I anticipate using etrailer again, for future purchases and would recommend etrailer for others. 484775

A little tricky putting it together, all sketches and no printed words for instructions. But, once together and set Up for your bikes, a very sturdy and secure carrier! Locks on the bikes and the hitch also. 656923

Exactly what I wanted: a platform rack to keep the bikes from moving around and that folds up when not in use. 413468

Nothing but good things to say about my Thule bike carrier. It works great. Very easy to move bikes on and off. It’s a really cool design. I keep the bike carrier on my Jeep renegade all the time. I don’t take it on and off which I’m fine with. It may be a little big and bulky if your going to want to remove it all the time. Overall it’s a good quality product. 733463

- TH9054

The rack is awesome. The customer service has been tremendous - I have received prompt, efficient help regarding a missing piece. I couldn't believe how quickly my rack arrived from etrailer. Only downer (NOT etrailer's fault): Thule's "wordless" (pictures only) instructions are pretty useless. 686483

- TH9054

I love the TH9054 bike rack. The bike wheels sit inside cups then the bike frame is clamped in with theft resistant clamping device. Two bikes can fit on the rack. Also the rack fits into either type hitch for easy mounting as well as theft resistant locking device. The rack is built very well and for the price I am very satisfied. I would recommend this rack to anyone. Great product. Sincerely, Tom Golden, Ocean View Delaware. 662640

- TH9054

Very nice rack, especially for those who use fenders and racks. I especially like that it works with all tire sizes. Very solid. Much better than the old Thule rack that it replaced. E-trailer service is the best out there. 600123

I love the hitch but I am incredibly impressed with the “one year” follow up note. This is a great product, customer service was extremely helpful prior to ordering to be sure it was the right product for my Toyota Sienna and a year later it’s still a “keeper”! Thanks for a great product, from a great company to do business with! 595984

Solid product, and fits a wide range of bikes. We've got two bikes with fenders, and one is a small, aluminum, step through frame (large tubes). I had no problem adjusting the arms to securely hold both bikes. 417511

  • Bike Rack Compatibility with 2017 Chevy Volt
If you don't already have a trailer hitch for your 2017 Chevy Volt, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class I # 24947 which is a custom fit. This hitch will have a measurement of 5-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper. That same measurement is 5-1/4 inches when using the Curt # C11436 which is also a fit for your vehicle. That hitch however requires stabilization strap # 18050 for a bike rack. The Schwinn Suburban will work as is with the bike carrier if you connect the stabilizer to the seat support tube of the frame. You may also choose to use a bike adapter bar like # 64005. This will create a top frame rail for a higher positioned connection for greater stability. Unfortunately that will only allow you to lock...

For your Forester there are Class II and Class III hitches available. The difference is the size of the receiver opening, capacity, and what accessories will fit each one. Yes, as long as you have a hitch installed on your 2006 Honda Accord you would be able to install a Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier # TH9054. I attached a video of this rack being reviewed for you to check out. If you do not have a hitch installed on your vehicle already I would recommend you get a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24787. I attached an installation video for this product also.

  • Platform Style Bike Rack that Can Handle Two 50 Pound Electric Bikes
We have some bike racks that work well with heavy electric bikes but the Doubletrack # TH9054 is rated for 37.5 pounds per bike and would not work. I recommend the Hollywood Racks SE2 for electric bikes, # HR1450Z-E. It is rated for 80 pounds per bike. But it only fits a 2 inch trailer hitch. If you have a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch the Kuat NV, # NV12G, is rated for 60 pounds per bike. As is the Saris Freedom, SuperClamp EX # SA4025F. Both are excellent bike racks but I find the Kuat...

  • Availability of Thule DoubleTrack that Can Fit Fat Tire Bikes
I really wish Thule offered replacement wheel cradles for the DoubleTrack that fit fat tires, but they do not. Instead they went and redesigned the rack to make it compatible with fat tires. For that you'd want the part # TH9054 if you were interested at all in a new rack. I attached a review video for more info as well.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2014 Nissan Rogue Select
We have several excellent bike racks for you to choose from, but before we select the best bike rack for you we will want to check for rear bumper clearance. We have not had a chance to test fit hitch mount bike racks on a 2014 Nissan Rogue Select yet, but I know trailer hitches on Nissan Rogues tend to sit further under the rear bumper than on most vehicles. Once you have the trailer hitch installed, you want to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the trailer hitch to...

  • Fitting a Fat Bike to a Thule Doubletrack
I reached out to Thule directly and there is no available fat bike tray for the Thule Doubletrack. However, the newer version, the Thule Doubletrack Pro, part # TH9054 is the newer version of the Doubletrack that can fit bikes with up to 5 inch wide tires. Unfortunately, the bars are not a match for the original DoubleTrack.

  • Differences between Class III and Class IV Hitches
The main difference between a Class III hitch and a Class IV hitch is the capacities they set for the hitches. Class III hitches are rated for up to 6,000 lbs GTW with 600 lbs TW whereas a Class IV is rated for up to 12,000 lbs GTW and 1,000 TW. For more info on the hitch classifications check out the link I attached.

  • Thule DoubleTrack Bike Rack Recommendation for Fat Tire Bike
The Thule DoubleTrack part # TH990XT is a great bike rack but it's tire width limit is 3 inch. Instead the better option is newly designed Thule Doubletrack Pro # TH9054 which comes with wheel cradles that are capable of fitting tire widths of up to 5 inches. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended 2-Bike Platform Style Hitch Bike Carrier for 2016 BMW X1
Thule's hitch-mounted Doubletrack Pro Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack # TH9054 will fit into either 1-1/4-inch or 2-inch hitches. Your 2016 BMW X1 can be fitted with the 2-inch Class III type which will provide a substantial weight-carrying capacity, plenty for the weight of this rack and your two loaded bikes. The hitch I recommend for your X1 (if it does not already have one) is the less-costly option, Draw-Tite # 76018. Installation of this hitch on an X1 is shown in the linked video which...

  • Using Frame Adapter Bar to Carry Norco Rideau Bikes On Thule Doubletrack Bike Rack
The Thule # TH9054 Doubletrack is an excellent choice for most vehicles using a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch receiver. In order to fold up into its storage position, the hitch pin hole of your receiver needs to be recessed under the vehicle. I've linked you to a help article showing how to measure this. For the most part, step through bikes don't work well with bike racks that grab the bike by the top tube. The top tube is so close to the bottom of the rack that the hooks might not be able to...

  • Can I Leave Bike Carrier Installed When Going Through Car Wash?
With the Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Hitch Mount # TH9054 or any other accessory, it is recommended to remove the carrier prior to going through a car wash. The manufacturer's warranty will not cover any damages incurred if you have the bike carrier installed while using an automated car wash.

  • Bike Rack Recommendations for a Carbon Fiber Frame and Carbon Wheel Bike
There are many options for carrying a bike with a carbon fiber frame but the Thule Doubletrack Platform Bike Rack is not recommended as it uses the frame to secure the bike to the rack. Your best option would be a platform style bike rack that holds the bikes at the wheels like the Swagman Semi, # S64686. You would not have to worry about the frame or even carbon wheels at all with this bike rack. The adjustable arm that holds the front tire will also fit a wide variety of bike types...

  • Trailer Hitch and 2 Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Prius
I would recommend going with the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, # 24808, on your 2008 Toyota Prius for carrying 2 bikes. We have a video installation for you to review and I have attached installation instructions for you to review. For a bike rack the Thule Doubletrack, # TH9054, would be a great choice. It is designed to work in the Class I hitch recommended above and will provide clearance at the back for going over speed bumps and entering steep drives and parking lots with...

  • Use of Stabilizing Strap 18050 with Curt Hitch on 2010 Subaru Outback
Curt chooses to recommend a stabilizing strap be used on some of their hitches when non-wheeled loads like bike racks are installed simply as an added safety measure. Using a support strap like # 18050 on ANY hitch would certainly be an okay idea, but other hitch makers do not have this express requirement. This is no way indicates the Curt hitch # 13390 is weaker than others, but is simply a more conservative approach in the interests of safety and long-term reliability. When a load...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Hitch Racks for Class I Hitch on Flat-Towed 2016 Ford Focus
We can help you with a 2-bike hitch rack that will be fine to use on the back of your flat-towed 2016 Ford Focus. This vehicle can be fitted only with a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch. No other hitch sizes or classes are offered for the Focus since its frame is not strong enough to handle bigger hitches. So this means we need to find you a Class I-compatible rack that is also rated for use on an RV, which in terms of the physics involved, is the functional equivalent of being...

  • Recommended Best 2-Bike Rack for a 2011 Volvo C70 Transporting 2 Step Thru Bikes
I can help you pick out a bike rack that will be compatible with your Curt 1-1/4 Class I hitch # C11065 on your 2011 Volvo C70. The first thing we know is that from the center of your hitch pin hole to the edge of your bumper will need a rack with at least an 8-1/2 inch clearance. The Thule # TH9054 won't be able to work for your C70 but I do have several solutions for you. The Saris Freedom SuperClamp # SA4025 will fit your Class I 1-1/4 hitch and provide the bumper clearance you...

  • Thule DoubleTrack Pro Bike Rack Compatibility with 2017 Subaru Outback Factory Trailer Hitch
The Thule DoubleTrack Pro 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # TH9054 is recommended by Thule to have a 1-1/2 inch measurement from the outside of the hitch receiver to the center of the hitch pin. We haven't had an issue with fit on Subaru Outback models working, but the manufacturer warranty trumps the fact it will fit. The way to make these compatible is to us a hitch extender like # HES6. This will reduce the tongue weight capacity by 50% which will give...
