Thule T2 Pro

The Thule T2 Pro XTS platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. It is designed to carry bicycles of varying sizes and styles, and it can hold bikes with fat tires up to 5" wide. The bike trays adjust to optimize bike spacing and reduce bike-to-bike contact. The ratcheting arms and wheel trays secure your bikes by the wheels so there's no frame contact. The rack installs easily without the need of tools with the AutoAttach system. And the front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows the rack to easily tilt down with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area and fold up when not in use. Finally, the rack includes One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Thule T2 Pro hook

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bicycles on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over your front wheel.

The wheel hook also has a cutout on the side so it won't interfere with fat bike suspensions.

Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro sliding cradles

The sliding rear-wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 50-1/2" long, and they accommodate tires up to 5" wide. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bikes' rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

Thule T2 Pro sliding cradles

For fat bikes, the strap needs to be removed from the bottom of the cradle and re-routed up through the side. This increases the usable length of the strap to secure wider tires.

Adjustable Bike Trays

Thule T2 Pro wheel trays

The front and back bike trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then tighten the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Front-Mounted HitchSwitch for Easy Tilting

Thule T2 Pro tilt down

The front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows one person to easily tilt the T2 Pro XTS. The rack tilts down with or without bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Thule T2 Pro tilt up

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting a bike. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Easy Installation with AutoAttach System

Thule T2 Pro installation

The T2 Pro XTS installs quickly and easily with the AutoAttach system. Simply open the Auto Pin, slide the shank into your receiver, and close the pin so it slides through the pin hole and shank.

Once installed, turn the hand knob underneath the rack to tighten the shank in your receiver. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

Thule T2 Protilt down

The rack comes with One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks extend from the ends of the wheel hooks and wrap around your bikes' frames to lock them to the rack.

Thule T2 Pro locking system knob

The hand knob also comes with a lock cylinder to keep the rack from being removed from your hitch. One-Key System cylinders can be swapped out to make all of your Thule gear keyed alike.

Optional 2-Bike Add-On

Thule T2 Pr0 add on

There is a 2-bike add-on available (TH9036XTS - sold separately) for the T2 Pro XTS that will allow you convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. To install the add-on, simply remove the HitchSwitch lever from the end of the T2 Pro XTS, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, secure the shank with the bolts that come with the add-on, and reattach the HitchSwitch lever.

Video Transcript for Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTB Two Bike Platform Rack in Black, part number TH9034XT. This will also come in silver as part number TH9034XTS. The Thule T2 Pro XTB Bike Rack can carry a wide variety of bike thanks to how they attach to the rack, and they carry up to two bikes ranging from fat bikes to road bikes to mountain bikes to kids bikes, to alternate frame bikes as well. One of the nicest features about this bike rack is its ability to tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. What makes it unique is it has this hitch switch lever at the front, which enables it to tilt down. A lot of other bike racks will have its lever up towards the front underneath the front bike, so it might make it a little more difficult to do this. Instead, you just hold onto the bike rack, engage the hitch switch and let it come forward.

Then we have access to our rear hatch. When you're ready to put it back into its original position, just simply lift up until you hear that click, and it's locked back into place. Now, how the bikes actually attach to the bike rack, we're going to have two points of contact. We're going to have this wheel hook up at the front. Then we're going to have this adjustable wheel strap at the rear. Now, this can move along the arm here to accommodate different size bikes.

These rear wheel straps are actually ratcheting straps. Meaning, they have this ratcheting action to tighten them down. The wheel cradles are able to hold tire sizes up to 5 inches wide, which enables us to put our fat bike tire on this bike rack. Also for added security, we have an integrated cable lock on both ends of our wheel hooks to wrap around our bikes to secure them to the bike rack. Now, these will be keyed alike, and they'll also be keyed alike with anti-rattle knob, which secures your bike rack to the hitch. Also, if you're having issue of spacing between the bikes, you loosen up the screws underneath here, you can actually slide these back 3 inches to the left or right to accommodate that. Now with our bikes off, let's go ahead and show you a couple more features.

Right now we have it in what we call the loading position. However, for those close quarter situations such as parking or putting it in your garage, to gain more clearance in the rear you can fold this up against the vehicle. You again come to the hitch switch lever, pull it towards you, and push up until you hear the click again. Now we have more clearance. Finally, our last feature is the fact that this is a tool-free install to put it into your vehicle.

Instead of having an anti-rattle bolt or a pin and clip, it has the auto pin on the side and the locking anti-rattle bolt to secure it to your vehicle. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the bike rack, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have it set in front of our vehicle here. We'll first come down to our shank here and open up our auto pin like so. Then we'll lift up our bike rack and set it into the hitch. We'll line up the pin holes and push our auto pin into place. Then we'll come to our end here to our anti-rattle knob and start turning it to the right. This is going to take out the shake and play in the shank as you turn it to the right. Now, it's a good idea while you're tightening this to kind of jiggle it back and forth, so you know that it's getting nice and tight up against the hitch while you're doing this. All right, we're good to go. Now we'll lock it into place. Once you lock it, that'll just free spin and not loosen up or tighten up. With our bike rack secured in our hitch, now we'll fold it out to the loading position. We'll come to the hitch switch lever, pull up like so, and let it come down. You're going to hear that click, and now it's locked in this position. Now we'll get it ready to receive our bikes. We'll start by undoing our rear wheel straps. We'll push in on this gray tab at the bottom like so. That'll release our strap. Then we'll fold out our wheel hook. We'll start by lifting it up, and to extend it out the entire way you just push this gray trigger on the inside like so. Push up and then fold it out the rest of the way. Repeat this for our front cradle. Now, since we're putting our fat bike closest to the vehicle, we actually have to remove this strap to make it longer. We'll take off the cover here and just push the strap down where it comes out at the bottom. Then you pull it out all the way, like so. Then we'll come to the back and reinsert it. Now our strap is long enough for the fat bike tire. We'll go ahead and put our pad back on as well. Now let's go ahead and get our bikes. We'll lift it into place, setting it into our one cradle, then our rear. We'll bring up our wheel hook. Push it down so we can attach our rear wheel strap. Push it down, and then we'll ratchet it into place, making sure that we try to keep it in between our spokes. There we go. All right, now that's secure. We'll move on to our outer bike now. We'll just lift this into place, set it down in the cradles. We'll make our adjustment here sliding it forward. Bring our wheel hook down, and then we'll finally put in our rear wheel strap. All right, that's nice and secure as well. At this point, normally we would lift out the integrated cable lock and we put it through the bike around this area here, but there's not enough space to get through so we'll just wrap it around our frame and do it that way. Pull it out all the way. Make sure you secure it around it. Attach it to our lock. Then we'll lock it into place, and we'll repeat this for our front bike as well. Now with everything loaded up and secured to our bike rack, we'll go ahead and take it on our test course. First we'll take it onto our slalom course. This will show you the side to side action such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Now we're at the alternating speed bumps. This will show you how it looks driving on uneven pavement or potholes. Finally, we're at the solid speed bumps, which simulates going into your driveway or parking lots. That'll do it for our Thule T2 Pro XTB Two Bike Platform Rack in Black, part number TH9034XT.

Installation pictures could have used words, but managed. The 8 mm bolts for attaching the platforms to the frame were binding, so I cleaned with a die and this made connection possible. Need to make a trip with bikes attached for further review. 414640

Online vedios it looked wonderful, outstanding, the ultimate bike rack, with so many neat and wonderful features, fold down handle, no tool install, integrated locks, ect, ect, . In the flesh, its is all that.......EXCEPT IT MUST WEIGH 6000 lbs. !. Maybe King Kong could lift it and install it, but it going to take two people unless your Hercules. Great if you want to put on the vehicle and leave it on for years,......too heavy for pratcical on off from garage to vehicle. 583799

Our second Thule T2, one 1 1/4", this one 2". After various Yakima and Thule hitch receiver bike racks, this beats them all. Ease of attachment to car, ease of mounting bikes, ability to lock rack and bikes, nothing else compares. etrailer purchase was quick and easy, as usual. 426632

This hitch was installed on my 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited. The website is fantastic and makes finding the correct products for your vehicle very easy. The hitch arrived in only a few days and came complete with all the necessary installation accessories. The hitch comes with fish wire for the frame bolts so you don't need to fuss with buying fish wire. Some reviews stated that you can go in from the inside of the vehicle but this is totally unnecessary and more work. Just follow the instructions, with exception of the muffler heat shield. You can drill 1/2" holes through the heat shield in the dimpled areas corresponding to where the instructions tell you to cut out the heat shield (see some of the other reviews for more detail on this). These holes allow you to securely fasten the heat shield over the hitch using the hitch bolts. Make sure you have a torque wrench and an 11/16" deep socket to tighten the frame bolts. I would also recommend removing the muffler which is very simple. Lube the muffler mounts with WD-40 to facilitate the removal of the muffler. You will save at least $300 installing this yourself. 485073

I have used Thule for my rack needs for over 25 years because of their strength and reliability. This rack is no different. Easy to take off on on my car and super easy to mount my bikes. The tilt function works great and allows me to access my tailgate with the bikes still on the rack. The only downside is the weight of the rack when installing/removing. However, I would rather have strong, reliable, heavy rack over one that would do its job. 696849

Works perfectly for my two Trek Fuels on a BMW X5-50. The bike rack is pretty heavy (need some effort to carry) but it also makes it much more stable while driving. Overall, I’m very happy with it. 640934

I just finished the installation of my new bike rack, and will take it for a long ride starting tomorrow (will provide my feedback once I am back). I just have one question: I have an extra key ; looks like an uncut key, and I cannot find any use for it. Any insights here? I do have the three locks and each one came with a key (different key number from the extra one). Not a real issue - just curious! 612952

he key blank you received is called a change key. Its used to remove the lock core if you ever wanted to change the locks. With the lock unlocked, youd the change key, and twist and pull. The core would come out. If you use the provided link, you can see how the key works.

I have not had a chance to use the bike rack yet. I have a hard time putting things together and this was so easy for me. Great instructions. I love how it doesnt wobble in my hitch at all. Much better made than the cheap ones we have. Only think I hope is that the plastic pieces hold up. Thank you for the ease of putting on the hitch and twisting the knob to lock it in. I love the pull handle to raise and lower the rack. I also bought the addition 2 rack, to make it a 4. Excited to put that together. Thank you etrailer for your great videos that helped me pick this awesome rack out. 345102

This is an overall excellent product although it is on the heavy side so keep that in mind. This was purchased with my wife in mind (no tools to mount) and we think she will be able to mount it by herself but it is heavy. The unit is well built and seems to work well time will tell. I like the adjustability and ease of mounting bikes. When I put it together one of the screws had the head mounted at a weird angle? I was able to put it into a vice and straighten it for use otherwise everything mounted together as it should. 253685

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This bike rack is extremely sturdy. Even when driving on rough roads or over bumps you don‘t have to worry about anything rattling or falling off. It is easy to use and handles any size bike. On the downside the rack is quite heavy so can be hard to put on or take off for short people. Also the rear tire straps are too short for fat tire bikes. Installing and taking off the add-on can be a chore and is not something you want to do every day. 615893

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

Love this rack! We have logged thousands of driving miles in the last year while taking our bikes to various rallies. We upgraded to this rack from a yakima hanging rack. I much prefer supporting bikes from the bottom which avoids any potential issues with cable stretch and bikes knocking into each other. This rack also provides much better visibility when driving (both unloaded and loaded). 561865

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

Ok, I know it may seem expensive, but this rack is great. (When you figure your carrying close to 10 grand in bikes it's worth the piece of mind.) Carries all of our family bikes, from two 29ers, a 26 inch and the boys 20 inch bike with simple adjustments. In fact I switch from kids bikes to all 29ers all the time. No more stopping on the side of the road to adjust bikes on a frame rack. Bikes on and off the rack in seconds. Only drawback is the rack itself is heavy. 585726

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased an Ecohitch Class III hitch, and Thule T2Pro XTB bike platform for my 2017 Subaru Outback Limited. I did the entire assembly and installation in about 3 hours, one afternoon, with very limited assistance from my wife. The hardest part of the entire process was figuring out how to disconnect the connector for the backup sensors, and cutting the hole for the hitch receiver in the bumper fascia. The video was absolutely priceless to show how the little plastic pieces held the fascia together, and how they could be detached. I think that I might buy some new ones because they are not quite as tight when installed the second time. It was not clear from the Thule instructions, but it is helpful to have the hitch installed before putting the bike platform together, because the hitch can get the platform up in the air, and make the assembly a lot easier. I also found that the security cable was could be lengthened a bit, but it still fit, once I figured that the plastic piece was intended to be detached from the arm when it was serving as a lock. This is a very substantial structure to add to the back of the vehicle. I really like the Ecohitch, and the way that it is concealed behind the bumper. This makes it worth the extra money. The Thule is heavy, but now I don't have to lift the bikes up on top of the roof, which is difficult for us mature people with bad shoulders. And our bikes don't have a traditional top-tube, so we needed something that could hold the bikes by the wheels alone. All-in-all a good purchase, easy to install, and it looks like it will work well. I also plan to use the hitch to pull a small trailer, and it looks like that should work well, too. 476519

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I Purchase of the 2018 Thule TR Pro with the Black Finish. I am very impressed with the overall design and stout construction. This is my first bicycle Rack that I have ever purchased. I assembled the Rack after installed the rack frame to the hitch of my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. I was VERY impressed with the internal locking system after placing the rack into the 2" x 2" hitch. After assembly I then loaded our Two BICYCLES . With the rack loaded with our two adult bicycles and temporarily lowered to the 4 or 8 o'clock position; and the inside Bicycle pedal in the 12 o'clock position. I am free to lower the tailgate of the pick-up and gain access to the covered truck bed of my Tacoma. The loading of the bicycles seems relatively easy. Just for an added level of load security I am going to incorporate a lower security strap to the front wheel hitches supporting baskets. And take the tail end of the strap and do a quick "Hitch" to the "Sheppard's Crook" that locks down at the top of the front wheel. Looking forward to some new places to Ride. Regular "free Shipping was fine to my home in 3 working days + the weekend. 509768

This is a great rack and simple to assemble. Very convenient to just throw bikes on and go. The only negative is that the box had a huge hole in it when I received it and the rack was all chipped up and scratched. I’m assuming that was caused by UPS during shipping. 653963

I do have a few alternative bike racks that you can potentially use with the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275. Just for reference, the Thule T2 Pro XTS # TH9034XTS that you currently use measures 41-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest edge of the bike rack. If you want to stick with the Thule brand then the Thule T2 Classic # TH9044 only measures 36" from the hitch pin hole to the end of the bike rack. At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. You might be able to partially open your rear door. What I recommend...

  • Is Thule T2 Pro or Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Better for Resisting Rust
The Thule T2 Pro XTS 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XTS you referenced is an excellent carrier that does feature a powder coat finish to help with corrosion resistance, but if this is one of your main concerns the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Rack # NV22G that you also mentioned is the better option. A powder coat finish will try its best to fight off corrosion for as long as it can but it's eventually going to start coming off, even if its a few years down the line. The Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack though...

  • Stable Platform Bike Rack that Only Fits 2 inch Hitches
I have just what you are looking for. The Thule T2 Pro part # TH9034XTS would be a great option. It is designed only for 2 inch hitches like you mentioned and it is super solid. I attached a test course video that shows how solid it is on the road too. The video shows the black version of the rack part # TH9034XT which is another option you can consider. It also only touches the bikes at the tire like you Transfer.

  • Differences Between the Thule T2 Classic, Pro XT, XTB, and XTS Bike Racks
The difference between the Thule T2 Pro XT is available in two colors. The Thule T2 Pro XTS 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XTS is silver in color and the Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9034XT is black in color. These are identical with the exception of main color and come with a 2 inch shank that allows you to add 2 more bikes if desired using # TH9036XT or # TH9036XTS. There are also 1-1/4 inch shank options that are not expandable. These are # TH9035XTS in silver and # TH9035XT in black. The...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu
If you like the Thule T2, but you aren't thrilled with the weight and size, I recommend looking at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 bike racks. The Sherpa 2.0 is available in gray, # SH12G, pearl, # SH12P, and black, # SH12B. These bike racks weigh almost 20 lbs less than the T2 at 32 lbs and they are smaller in size. When folded, the T2 Pro measures 55" wide x 34" tall and the Sherpa 2.0 measures 42-1/4" wide x 27-3/4" tall (see photo). Kuat is a premium brand that competes with Thule when it comes...

  • What is the Difference Between the Thule T2 Pro and Thule T2 Pro XT Version
The biggest change between the Thule T2 Pro and Pro XT # TH9034XTS is the distance between the bikes. Originally the T2 Pro was designed to work with Fat bikes right out of the box. The only issue was people had a hard time getting 2 Fat bikes to fit because of the wider frames to go around the large tires. So the new version corrects that issue by spacing the bike trays out so they are now 12-1/2 inches apart on center. Now there is more space for Fat bikes and it makes loading 2 regular...

  • What is the Best Bike Rack for a Fat Tire Bike
I have a few bike racks that have fat tire wheel cradles, but, there are no adapters or alternative cradles that will work with the Swagman XC bike rack to accommodate wider tires. The bike racks I recommend for customers that have downhill bikes or bikes with fat tires is the Thule T2 Pro Bike Rack, # TH9034XTS, or the Thule T2 Classic, # TH9044. These bike racks come with large front and rear wheel cradles to accommodate fat bike tires up to 5 inches wide and Thule is an industry...

  • Is a Hitch Extender Needed for a Thule T2 Pro XT to Clear the Spare Tire on a 2004 Honda CR-V
You will most likely not need an extension to use the Thule T2 Pro XT bike rack # TH9034XTS with your 2004 Honda CR-V. The reason I bring this up is because the use of an extension will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent and put additional stress on the hitch which is something you will want to avoid. On the T2 Pro XT from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the center of the wheel cradles closest to the vehicle measures 19 inches. Even with the...

  • Recommended Hitch Mount Bike Rack with Easy, Tool-Free Installation
We have a number of hitch-mounted bike racks in both hanging and platform styles that offer a quick, tool-free installation and removal process while still securing the bike rack tightly inside the hitch so as to eliminate hitch rattle. I have chosen a handful of my favorite racks that are easy to put on and take off to give you a couple of style and price options. A great bike rack option that will easily install and uninstall on your vehicle is the Thule T2 Pro XTS 2 Bike Rack # TH9034XTS....

  • What Size Bikes Will Fit on the Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack
The 20 to 29 inches is in reference to the wheel sizes that the Thule T2, # TH9034XTS, can carry. It is possible that a smaller size would fit but it all depends on the bike. I would not recommend this rack though because there is no guarantee that a bike smaller than 20 inches will fit. The Thule DoubleTrack, # TH9054, is a better option since it holds the bikes at the frame and not the just at the wheels. Since the hooks clamp on the frame a smaller wheel size will not be a factor....

  • Can the Thule T2 Pro Bike Racks Be Used on a 5th Wheel Trailer
Neither the T2 Pro 2-bike version, # TH9034XTS, nor the 4 bike version, # TH9034XTS-9036XTS, are rated for use on a 5th wheel trailer. Both can be used at the back of a motorhome though. Your best option for carrying 4 bikes on the back of a 5th wheel using a hitch mount bike rack is the BikeWing # B01458. This is sort of a hybrid hanging/platform style rack. The second 2-bike part can be removed if you only need to carry 2 bikes. The racks holds the bikes at the wheels so it is compatible...

  • Carbon Fiber Bikes - Why Do You Recommend Bike Racks that Secure the Bike by the Wheel?
You are correct! When someone invests in a carbon fiber bike we automatically assume that they will want to take extra precautions to protect it. This is why we recommend a rack like the Thule T2 Pro 2-Bike Rack, # TH9034XTS, which uses a ratcheting arm to secure the bike by the front wheel eliminating contact with the frame. No contact with the frame equates to less chance of scratches which equals happy cyclist!

  • What Changed Between the Thule T2 Classic and Pro XTB Bike Racks
The Thule T2 Classic 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9044 and the Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XT are pretty similar. The differences are in the maximum wheelbase being 2-1/2 inches longer totaling 50-1/2 inches and there being more space between bikes on the Pro XT model. The Pro XT will end up being about 2 lbs heavier due to that. Also, the XTS uses a newer hitch pin style that has an arm that pivots in and locks it to the hitch whereas the Classic uses a threaded hitch pin....

  • Availability of 2 Bike Hitch Rack for Electra Hawaii 3 Cruiser Bike With Large Fenders
Most of the platform bike racks that use the clamp on the wheel are not designed for use with cruiser bikes that have the large fenders. The fenders do not allow the wheel hook to tighten properly and hold the bike to the bike rack. The Thule T2 Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH9034XTS, that you have referenced is not to be used on bikes that have fenders. • Will the Thule T2 Bike Rack Fit on a Toyota FJ Cruiser
The Thule T2 bike rack # TH9034XTS fits a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. If your FJ Cruiser has a 2 inch trailer hitch then the bike rack can be inserted in it. To determine if it will clear the back of the vehicle you can measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the vehicle straight back to the part of the FJ that sticks out the most. On the Kuat NV if you have the rack tilted down and the arms folded down then it measures 11-7/8 inches from the center of the receiver opening to the highest part of the rack. When not tilted down that same measurement (to the same spot on the bike rack) is 11-1/4 inches.
