The Swagman Titan stands tall among hitch-mounted bike racks on the market, combining affordability and versatility into one sleek package. The Titan offers ultimate stability with a dual-arm design that provides your bikes with maximum ride support.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack folding arms

The dual arms conveniently fold down for storage when you pull a T-handle release at the top of the mast.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack tilting mast

The bike rack can also be tilted away from your vehicle for access to your rear cargo area - just pull the T-handle release at the rack base.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack cable lockSwagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack cable lock installed

For your peace of mind, the Titan includes a cable lock built into the upright mast. This cable lock attaches to a post at the end of the left-hand arm to lock your bikes to the rack. The 8-mm steel cable retracts into the mast for storage when not in use.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack anti-sway cradles

The Titan has anti-sway cradles that rotate and slide along the dual arms to perfectly position your bikes, reducing the need for a bike adapter bar. The cradles include durable rubber straps to hold your bikes firmly in place on the rack. The cradles secure each bike at three places (twice along the top tube and once at the seat post or downtube), keeping your bikes from rocking back and forth and preventing bike-to-bike contact.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack shank adapter

This rack includes a two-piece adapter that attaches around the shank to convert your rack for use on 2-inch hitch receivers. For use with 1-1/4 inch receivers, use the rack without the adapter.

Swagman Titan hitch-mounted bike rack anti-rattle hitch pin

An anti-rattle, threaded hitch pin and clip are included to secure the rack to your trailer hitch receiver and eliminate rattle during transport. To lock your rack to the hitch, replace the pin and clip with Swagman's anti-rattle lock (S64029; sold separately).

Good value for its price point. Very easy to install. It is a bit of a struggle to fit 4 bikes especially with women & kid frames but once you get the hang of it the bikes lock-in and feel secure despite a fair amount of bounce whilst driving

Very good product. Happy to find a bike rack that fits my 2005Rav4 that has a spare tire at the back of the car. Very easy to install. Instructions for use of the key that was with the rack was missing, but I was able to find on etrailer's website. Top of the rack was around one inch above the highest point of the spare tire. Touched a bit of the tire cover when I started loading the bikes, but requires a minor positioning, moving to one side by less than an inch to make sure it doesn't touch the spare tire cover. Minimal sway on movement, but stable all the way from Massachusetts to Maine, and back. Unfortunately still unable to open the car's back door even when tilted, but this should not be a problem with newer cars that have move clearance at the back. Just have to move the car seat forward to have access to the back of the car, but at least I can travel with all bikes (3). Needs a "tube" for kids bikes. Also needs a tool to tighten/ remove the screw into the hitch, but should not be a problem if one can access the back of the car by tilting the rack, and doesn't have to remove the rack all the time. Not a perfect rack for my current car, but best match I could find, given the minimal clearance at the back because of the spare tire. Should be able to use with a future car.

After getting some amazing help from etrailer (thanks, Mike!), I decided on the Swagman Titan 4. I bought it to replace a Yakima Doubledown that I returned because I was very unhappy with it. The Titan is equal to or better than the Doubledown in just about every way (The Yak gets the nod for their trick anti-wobble mechanism). The tilt and fold mechanisms are easy to use and smooth. The rise in the shank is absolutely essential for a low sedan like mine (Subaru Legacy). The cradles can rotate to fit a wide variety of bike geometries. The anti-wobble screw is fine, but I'm considering sacrificing some of that stability for the ease of mounting and removal of a standard pin (so I don't need a wrench to take the rack off the car). The only thing that makes me just a little bit nervous is that the attachment points for the rubber straps flex a bit more than I'm used to. They work fine, the straps attach easily, and maybe they're designed to flex like that. But I do wonder how they'll hold up over time. Overall, I could hardly be happier. Thanks Swagman for a great product and etrailer for outstanding customer service!

Easy to assemble the 3 screws that require installing. Don't really like the bolt instead of the pin securing the rack to the trailer hitch. Very satisfied other wise. Thank you for a well made product.

This thing is nice! A little heavy, but, it's very roomy. I'm using it on a Toyota Tundra. This truck has a Class IV hitch, so the pin that is included wouldn't fit all the way through. I had to modify the hole in the rack a little to be able to use my regular locking hitch pin. Very nice rack indeed! Ohh!! I LOVE the straps. They are very secure.

We had 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes loaded on the carrier. We took a trip to northern Wisconsin, over 800 miles total, and the rack worked perfectly. No damage to bikes or to car. Great product and very sturdy.

Just installed on my Subaru outback. Fit is great. I haves put any bikes on it yet but I am sure it will work fine. Only negative that I can think of is that it weighs a lot. I was thinking of attaching it only while using it; but decided to lock it to the hitch and leave it in the car as it will save time when going biking.

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

Operates well as demonstrated in the excellent pictures and videos on website. Only caveat- if you have a ladies bike you need an adapter bar which is a separate purchase, and be careful to get the right size. Also if your bike has a seat with a rod that cushions from bumps, you may not be able to use an adapter and therefore cannot use a hanging rack!!! Lucky my bike shop had an adapter that could go lower on the frame. So I can use the rack but the bike is at an angle. And this morning not can be done for the outer hung bike not the inner one.

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

One of the few racks that will clear my Jeep's large rear mounted spare tire without using an extender. The other is the Allen which doesn't have the nice features the Swagman Titan has. Tips enough to allow partial opening of Jeep rear door, but enough to open the soft top rear window. The vertical portion of rack tips slightly toward vehicle (at least it does on mine). Would be better if the horizontal "S" shaped piece could be turned around to dip down, moving it further from the spare tire, but there are only holes drilled to mount it as shown. Can't attest to the durability yet, but it doesn't wobble even a tiny bit. Have to compliment everyone I spoke with at etrailer. very nice and extremely helpful.

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

eTrailer.com had my new Swagman Titan bike rack delivered super fast. I received the right amout of email communication informing me of the status of my order, plus I could track my delivery directly from the eTrailer website. Awesome! As for the hitch, I am so happy with it. I was tired of taking the front wheel off my bike and cramming it into the back of my small Corolla, it never really fit right, was always a struggle, and then I had no room for anything else in my car. Now, I just hang my bike onto the rack and strap it in, takes less than 60 seconds and I have all the extra room in my car and don't have to fold down the back seats. The other feature I really like is that this bike rack has an integrated locking cable, once your bike is on the rack, you attach the locking cable so now your bike is locked onto the rack. Someone can't take your bike off the rack and walk away with it when you aren't looking. I also got the Swagman bike rack locking pin, that attaches the bike rack to the car hitch. I've used the bike rack twice so far and it makes my life so much easier. Solidly built bike rack that is well worth it. Thank you eTrailer, you rock!

relatively easy to attach especially to a Mustangit is a little heavy but its it's in a position that allows the trunk to be open without any modificationsI always thought of bike it was ridiculous on a Mustangbut I have to say it looks pretty goodit's relatively easy to get the bike on 2 is a little crowdedbut most the time I just carry one bikeit was also very helpful to have the experts tell me if this would fit beforehand

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

Installed on SUV and seems ok except for one item. Tightening the hitch cord prevent side to side sway but there is nothing to stop the up and down motion. I guess the weight of the bike will prevent this but without a bike installed any bump will cause this to jump. When I'm not carrying bike I will install a shim to keep the rack from jumping up. Otherwise a sturdy and well build bike rack.

The tilt features are easy to use. The rack is stable in the hitch. The bike is stable on the rack and in the straps. Used a small rubber bungee to secure the front wheel. eTrailer staff seem very concerned for a good buying experience.

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

While Cathy did a fantastic job supporting my purchase, it is shame they did not have my first choice available for purchase. As matter of fact, my first choice was shown as available, but the shipping department shipped me the incorrect unit. The unit they shipped was not for a class I hitch. It was quite easy to return, excluding the fact that I had to drive 35 miles round trip to go to a USPS shipping station. My vacation schedule precluded my waiting for the manufacturer to build and forward a unit for shipping to me. My second choice was also shown in stock, but they could not find it in the shipping department. Cathy stayed on top of this purchase and contacted me and we eventually found a third car bike rack that I could live with. The two (2) bike rack that I did get (S63400) is very well built and worth the $$, but it is heavier (a bit over 30 #) than my originally preferred unit. The bolt assembly needed to install the unit in the class one hitch will preclude my wife from installing the bike rack on her car with out my help. Cathy gets a 10 and the shipping department get a 1 in my book.

Review from a similar Titan in Hitch Bike Racks

The Titan model bike rack by Swagman is a bit heavy, but that's easily accepted because of its beefy construction. It requires very little time and effort to assemble. It slides into a two inch trailer hitch and after tightening the locking bolt, I found it very rigid, which would result in no rattling, when underway at 60 miles per hour transporting two adult bicycles. The fold down feature for trunk access is a snap to operate and likewise the fold down feature of the rack bar. The video produced on etrailer.com's web site was most helpful in making my decision over many competitive products and the rack performs exactly as shown.

  • Comparing Swagman Titan and Thule Camper Bike Racks for a 2016 Nissan Rogue
I personally like the Thule Camber 4 Bike Rack # TH9056 better than the Swagman Titan 4 Bike Rack # S63410. It looks cleaner, is easier to load/unload bikes, and it is backed by the Thule name which is huge in the bike rack industry. Both bike racks use levers both for tilting the rack away and for folding the arms down, but the Thule does have the cradles spaced out 7" on center which is further than the Swagman so it'll be easier to load/unload bikes. Another plus is that the straps...

When comparing the Swagman Titan, part # S63410, and the Thule Hitching Post Pro, part # TH934XTR, there are two main factors that put the Thule above the Swagman. The first is the material used. Thule is known for the exceptionally-well crafted racks, and the Hitching Post Pro is made of high--strength aluminum and steel. The Swagman is solidly built, but the Thule is just a little better in this arena. The second is how they handle on the road. I've linked to videos of both of these...

I recommend the Hollywood Racks Road Runner # HR400 for a few reasons. First, both a...

  • Why Cant the Folding Version of the Swagman Trailhead be Used at the Back of an RV
Yes, the folding feature is the difference that allows the non-folding version of the Trailhead, # S63381, to work with RVs and the folding version, # S63380, to be excluded. The folding feature creates a point of movement and a point of potential failure. There is a bike rack that folds and that is rated for use at the back of an RV; the Hollywood Racks Traveler 4 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # HR8500. I have included a link to a video review of this rack for you. The...

  • Choosing Bike Rack to be Used While Towing a Camper
The Dual Hitch Receivers such as part # RM-077-2 cannot be used for towing a trailer. These receivers are meant for use with a towbar carrying a rolling load and an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. We offer a Curt Ball Mount with 2 inch Receiver, part # D210, which should work for your needs. This ball mount has a tongue weight capacity of 750 lbs, so the trailers tongue weight and the weight of the bike carrier plus the weight of the bikes cannot exceed that figure. Another...

  • Class III Hitch Recommendation and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2008 Honda CRV Carrying 4 Bikes
For carrying 4 bikes you will need to use at least a Class II hitch. Since there are only Class I and Class III hitches available for your 2008 Honda CR-V I would recommend you get a Class III hitch like the Draw Tite Hitch # 75547. This hitch will allow you to have greater flexibility for picking future hitch accessories like cargo carriers due to the larger amount of products made to work on 2 inch hitches. I attached installation instructions and an installation video for this product...

  • Options for Carrying Two Bikes On 2013 Honda CRV
If you're set on getting a trunk mount rack I recommend the Saris Bones, part # SA805BL. It's a simple design that's easier to get on the vehicle than most trunk mount racks. Fo ryour 2013 Honda CR-V you'll also need to use the Hatch Huggers, part # SA3035 on the lower hooks. With that being said a roof or hitch mount may be your best bet to carry your bikes. Both options eliminate the contact with the vehicle and give you more options of carriers to choose from. A hitch mounted...

  • Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2000 Honda CR-V
I would recommend a spare tire bike rack. You could use something like Yakima SpareRide 2, part # Y02599 or the Thule Spare Me, part # TH963PRO from Thule. Both of these will fit your spare mount and can be adjusted so that the bikes are centered on the rear of the vehicle. If you wanted to carry 3 or 4 bikes, a hitch mounted rack would be a better option for you. If you decided to go this route, you would first need to install a hitch. I would recommend the Curt Class III, part # 13314....

  • Trailer Hitch and Ground Clearance for a 2006 Toyota Matrix XRS and Curt Trailer Hitch # C12013
The Curt trailer hitch # C12013 will have the receiver just below the rear fascia on your 2006 Toyota Matrix. Take a look at the review with pictures on the product page to get an idea of where it will be. Curt does say that you need to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer loads such as a bike rack. It will be close to the ground and steep inclines like driveways could cause the hitch to scrape on the ground. The Saris Glide EX, # SA774, will only fit in a Class...

  • Correct Hitch Lock for Swagman Titan Bike Rack
The correct lock for a Swagman Titan 2 Bike Rack part # S63400 or part # S63410 for the Titan 4 is the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman Hitch Racks part # S64029. This is the only option for these bike racks. It has a threaded shaft unlike the smooth shaft on the lock you were looking at.
