Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

The versatile Rola TX-103 hitch-mounted bike carrier allows you to safely and securely carry three bicycles of almost any frame size on the back of your vehicle.

Rola TX-103 bike rack anti-sway cradles

The bike rack has large, soft anti-sway cradles that hold your bikes securely in place during travel with rubber straps and that accommodate bike-frame tube sizes up to 2" wide and 3" tall. The anti-sway devices touch your bike frame at three points to keep the bikes from moving back and forth, eliminating bike-to-bike contact during travel and protecting your bikes's painted surfaces. The cradles can be repositioned along the rack arms to ensure that your bikes remain properly spaced.

Rola TX-103 bike rack arm folding leverRola TX-103 bike rack arms folded down

The TX-103 has dual arms that provide your bikes with excellent support. You can fold down the arms for convenient storage when the rack is not in use by removing the handle mounted on the top of the upright support arm. When the arms are lowered replace the handle to lock the arms in place in the down position.

Rola TX-103 bike rack integrated cable lock

The bike carrier includes an integrated cable lock that stores inside the upright support arm when you are not using the rack. The cable lock secures to a post at the end of one of the rack arms to lock your bikes to the carrier. The cable lock comes with two keys.

Rola TX-103 tilting bike rackRola TX-103 bike rack tilted

The TX-103 offers easy access to the rear cargo area without your having to remove the bikes from the rack. You can tilt the bike carrier away from your vehicle by removing a pin and clip at the foot of the rack. Pull the upright arm of the rack up and forward until it rests on the stops that keep it from hitting the ground. To restore the rack to the upright position, push the rack back into place and insert the pin and clip.

Rola flip shank

The bike carrier features Rola's patented flip shank, which has both a 1-1/4" square end and a 2" square end for use with either size hitch receiver. The shank rotates around a clevis pin and locks into your desired position with a simple pin and clip. This eliminates the need for a hitch adapter and makes moving the rack between vehicles very quick and easy.

Video Transcript for Rola TX-103 Hitch Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be reviewing the Rola TX-103 Three Bike Carrier for inch and a quarter and two-inch hitches, part number 59403. This bike carrier features large, soft, anti-sway cradles that hold your bike securely in place with the rubber straps. It accommodates most bike frame tube sizes, up to two inches wide and three inches tall. The cradles slide along the arms to ensure proper bike spacing and they also prevent bike-to-bike contact during travel to protect the paint and surfaces. The dual arms offer excellent bike stability and conveniently fold down for storage when the bike rack is not in use. Some bike styles may require an adapter bar, part number 64005, which is sold separately.

It has an integrated retractable cable lock that provides bike security. It stores inside the upright support arm of the bike rack when not in use, and comes with two keys. The patented flip chain rotates to fit inch and a quarter and two inch hitches and switches in seconds by removing the pin and clip. The silver powder coat finish protects against rust and corrosion. It has a weight capacity of 80 pounds and comes with a five-year limited warranty.

Now that we've gone over some features and specs of the Rola bike carrier, we'll go ahead and show you how to install it. The vehicle we are using for demonstration purposes is equipped with a class three hitch, so we will make sure that the flip chain is on the two-inch side. Now before we begin our installation, we will first need to put the anti-sway block with spring inside the hollow shank of the carrier. We'll slide the shank over the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes, and tighten with a wrench. Now that the bick carrier is installed, we're ready to show you how to load the bike.

We'll swing out the cradle arms by pulling the silver pin at the top right-hand side of the mast, and the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, we'll then put it back in place, securing the dual arms. We'll make sure that the cradle straps are undone, we'll set the bike into the frame cradles, and secure it with the straps. Now we'll go ahead and show you how it looks driving down the road. That completes today's overview of the Rola TX-103 Three Bike Carrier, part number 59403.

This is the best bike rack. Very sturdy, easily assembled and easy to use. The tilting feature is fantastic because there is enough room for my dog to get in and out the back without taking the bikes off. 645045

Excellent product. Got it for a fifth wheel application and it works great. Straps are versatile to accommodate different frames and secure well. Security cable is a plus. Just moved it over to a 2018 Chevy Tahoe and the tilt back feature is perfect for allowing the rear door to raise. Would buy again. Thanks to etrailer. No one has faster shipping! 577864

This rack is sweet. It looks great putting it together was a bit confusing at first but didn't take too long at all to figure out. I have it on my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and fits well it the bolt that is attached to the 2 inch hitch is extremely tight. There is no give in the attachment between the two only a little give where the silver bar attaches to the hitch pieces. It fits my bike just perfect and it rocks! Overall it has a smooth ride the frame no shake attachment is a great touch. A bang for the buck. 142160

It has been a year now and it still holds up I had three bikes on it for a 6 hour trip going over 5 mountain passes and all the bikes were still on. The hitch attachment is sturdy, however, the rack shakes alot from other attachments. It is fine to hold bikes I just wish it didnt bounce around as much when not being used.

Thanks for your follow up and reply. Depending on your vehicle configuration you may want to consider using an item like the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050. Using a strap like this can help eliminate some of the bounce you mentioned.

Very nice product, well constructed and sturdy. The directions left a little to be desired but I figured things out anyway. So far so good. Good thing I read other reviews to see that I needed to buy an adaptor so I could place my wife's bike on there or I would be waiting for one now. 422364

I would rate this higher if it was only for light use, around town short trips type and only 2bikes. I took it on a road trip with 3 regular bikes. It was quite a puzzle to get them all on. As we travelled the arms drooped lower and lower and the bikes moved against each other so much that we had some damage. I replaced it during our trip fro fear the arms would break or the bikes would drag because they were so low. 442587

Still feel the same. Got rid of it.

The bike rack came promptly and well packaged. Instructions were understandable and direct. Installation was a breeze and fits quite nicely on my Rialta. I bought this rack for the "drop-down" feature because it makes for easier access both to my trunk and for opening the hatch on my Hyundai Santa Fe. Love the cushioned cradles and tie down straps as well as the integrated locking cable. Im a little concerned about the side to side "play" on the rack but will have to see if its a true issue...Well constructed and user friendly!!! Would be nice if it came with a few spare cradle straps... 397602

Receivd the rack and it was mostly assembled. Rack feels sturdy. I have not used it with bikes as of yet. It does fit in the hitch receiver quite loosely and it is not a tight fit from the main mast to the hitch receiver. I tightened the bolt down fairly tight but did not want to overtighten the silicone washers for fear of breaking them. Overall, I am very pleased with this product. 12738

- 59403
by:

I read the product description and other review, it sounded this was a great product, well, it is not, look for something else. First, the 2" shank fits very loosely on a 2" hitch. The whole time I was driving, the rack kept swinging left to right none stop. I got worried and got off the highway and put the bikes in the trunk. Second, you really cannot put a womens mountain bike on this rack even with the bar as suggested in the QA section. You will not be able to slide the bike over the rack as the bar will be too close the bike frame at the steering side and you are going to have a problem. So save yourself the hastle and get something better. 48350

This is the second of this bike rack I’ve purchased; like mine so much I bought one for my nephew & his growing family. Quality product & the built in lock is a real convenience. Buy a 20 dollar 1/2 inch hitch pin lock and theft of the rack itself is greatly reduced. 675064

Received my order 2 days earlier than estimated time of delivery. Went together quite easily with only one “reinstall” dudes don’t read instructions unless something doesn’t look right. Installed on back of Nissan Frontier and happy to see it clears tailgate when tilted out. Have not loaded bikes on yet but I can see no problems and rack fills sturdy. Great price and look forward to using the rack. Two thumbs up!! 645121

This bike rack is sturdy and easy to use. I didn't even need an adapter for the womans bike. I've been searching and I ended up with this Rola 3 bike rack. I liked the style and features you get for the price compared to the higher end bike racks. Thanks Rola for providing great quality for a nice price. 553271

Lots of good useful features. Good quality. I have a normal hard tail mens mountain bike and I have to use an adapter bar with it. I expected to need one for my wife's bike but needing it for both really increased the overall price. Seems like it would be hard to fit a third bike on it. The lock can be removed with one Phillips head screw. Not very secure. 553039

Excellent product with a lot of features that more expensive brands don’t have. The only negative is the bike lock cable is difficult to pull out. The hole needs to be a little bigger. Some of the cable sheathing has already been stripped off. Other than that I look forward to many years of reliable use. 516247

Awesome packaging.Bike rack is heavier than expected which is good I haven’t used it yet the first use will be in a week. Moves around a little bit in the hitch I’m hoping with the weight of the bikes will help solidify it. 498645

I would like to thank you for an awesome well designed/built product. I am very happy with the product, and I would have included a photo but I am still waiting for the Tow hitch from your store. Also the delivery was on time! I am just hoping I ordered the correct electrical harness for my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicle. Not sure if I have the LED lights or not. Again thank you so much for a well made Bike Carrier! 415450

Excellent Product, very well designed! I bought this because it was the only one I could find that did not bolt to my receiver hitch - apparently that is the norm for the "anti sway" feeling, but I wanted something that would install with a normal hitch pin quickly and without any tools. Built in bike lock is really cool how it retracts and pulls out of the main vertical tube. Also nice that you do not need a key to lock the bikes, only needed to unlock the bikes. 390222

- 59403
by:

Very easy to put together and to put on my vehicle. Did not have any issues racking my bike with the adapter bar. I bought the three bike rack even though I will only rack two bikes so I would have more space, very easy to put two bikes on safe and secure. I found the rack to be sturdy, very little sway while driving. 385852

Good piece of gear a little difficult to get the lock engaged when carrying 3 heavier bikes but very happy with it overall. Have used it extensively on trips of several hundred miles with no problem. No longer have to try and fit my bike in the back of the mini van . Screw on mechanism for securing into receiver sometimes hard to line up but well worth any problem feel much more secure that bike won't come off or hitch come loose 353122

This is the only rack I have owned. I am very happy with this purchase. The rack holds the bikes secure with rubber straps and a lot of room for different size tubes. There are two straps on the top bar and an anti-sway cradle for the down tube. The bike will not touch the car. The tilting feature is very convenient and will allow access to open the tailgate with or without the bikes on. 345425

The hitch, wiring harness and bike carrier look exactly as expected. My only complaint was that somehow my order was delayed due to a back-order without informing me. However, when I called they figured it out quickly, made a switch in product and got it out. 265343

Bike rack is very sturdy ( heavier than I thought ) And the built in lock system is helpful. Using the trailer hitch mount makes it easy to remove also My only criticism is the installation directions were poorly written and pictures not helpful. I'm still uncertain about one "extra" part I'm not sure what to do with. Overall, it's a nice rack to use 264536

First impression of this are high. The only thing I do not like is there is a bit of side to side sway when you're using the 1 1/4 male end. And it's just due to the nature of the design of this rack. But other than that it's pretty spot on. The fold away is nice and smooth and easy to use. The bikes load and unload easily. For the price this is about the best rack on the market in my opinion. 243596

I received the bicycle rack yesterday and assembly was a breeze! The rack was built very sturdy. I had a new hitch installed on our new car last week to be ready to go cycling. As I am pleased with the rack, the only con was that it wobbles left to right as driving. I have a 1 1/4" hitch and for security all there is, is a pin and a cotter pin which would make it very easily to remove by others, I installed a combination lock to replace the cotter pin, Unfortunately it still wobbles. 238179

I tried this product this past weekend with my 3 bikes. Travel to Santa Barbara, Ca. from Highland, Ca. The trip was 300 miles round trip. The rack was smooth, secure, durable, quiet and it felt safe. I could not tell it was attached to the vehicle. We enjoyed the bike ride with family. Can't wait to travel up north. Great product. 230885

The bike rack seems sturdy and good quality. I haven't actually used it yet. My only complaint is that the instructions were not very good. This was my first assembly, and it was annoying that the instructions didn't even label the different parts. The result was that it took me much longer to assemble than necessary. 217290

I am ecstatic with this purchase. The bike rack is sturdy and attractive and is easy to install. The rotating tongue for proper fit for your hitch is genius. The rubber clips hold the bike tight on the rack. I do use a fe extra velcro straps to keep my girls bike from moving a lot during transport. I have to use a rod that attaches to my handle bars and under my seat since my bike is a girl's bike. The video on this site shows that part. Overall, great product. 213944

  • The etrailer.com Class III Trailer Hitch # E98848 will work perfectly with the Rola TX-103 3-Bike Rack # 59403 on your 2018 Honda CR-V. We have actually installed this particular hitch on the 2018 CR-V (video attached) so we know the bumper clearances provided are compatible with the hitch pin hole to rack dimensions on this carrier. This will give you a really nice setup that can support 3 bikes with a total weight of up to 80 pounds. Since you will be using the rack in a 2 inch hitch...

  • Can I Mount My Burley Recumbent Bike To Thule Apex 5 Bike Carrier
  • I do have a solution for you to carry your Burley Recumbent bike and 3 other bikes, but the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Carrier # TH9026XT, and Yakima RidgeBack 5 Bike Rack # Y02459, are not intended to be used with Recumbent bikes. Since you will be carrying so many bikes, there are a few options you have. One would be to carry your recumbent bike and one of the other bikes on a hitch bike rack and then carry the other 2 on a roof rack bike rack. For a hitch bike rack to accommodate your recumbent...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2016 Toyota RAV4
  • I will be happy to help you select a hitch and hitch mount bike rack for your 2016 Toyota RAV4 so you and the family can get out and go biking! Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 76134 is an excellent choice. With this hitch installed only the receiver will be visible. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. There are numerous 3-bike racks you can use but I recommend a 4-bike rack because it will be easier to load the bikes and there will be more space. The most popular...

  • Will Rola TX-103 Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Clear Rear Spare Tire of 2007 Toyota RAV4
  • We haven't had the chance to test fit the Rola TX-103 # 59403 on a 2007 Toyota RAV4 but you can take a measurement to determine if it will fit. Measure from the center of the trailer hitch pin hole out to the furthest point on the spare tire. For the Rola to fit you need more 10 inches of clearance if you have a 2 inch trailer receiver or 10-3/4 inches if it's a 1-1/4 inch receiver. The rack weighs a little over 30 pounds.

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13095 Opening Sit Flush with Bumper on 1991 Nissan Pathfinder
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C13095, is custom designed for your 1991 Nissan Pathfinder and uses existing holes in the vehicle frame for the rear mounting holes on the hitch. These holes must be used for installation so there isn't any flexibility when it comes to mounting location for the hitch. In order to determine where the hitch opening will sit in comparison to the bumper on your Pathfinder, you will just need to measure 3-3/4 inches from the existing rear mounting holes...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Toyota RAV4 with Rear Mounted Spare Tire
  • While there are spare tire mount bike racks that will fit your 2007 Toyota RAV4 the Malone RunWay # MPG2148 will not due to the spare tire cover. You would have to take off the whole spare tire cover so all that is left is the spare tire and then you could mount this rack. What I recommend is a rack that mounts using the same location as the spare tire such as the SpareRide # Y02599. However, the available racks that do fit, like the SpareRide, hold 2 bikes maximum. To carry 3 bikes...

  • Comparing Velcro/Hook and Loop Straps to Rubber Straps on a Bike Rack and 3-Bike Rack Recommendation
  • First, Velcro or hook and loop as they are called if not the Velcro brand, are considered less superior to other types of straps including rubber. They are not as durable as rubber. The thing with rubber straps though is that they can get over-stretched. That happens because people think the straps have to be as tight as possible but they don't. They just have to be snug. Rubber is also better at protecting the bike frames. Hook and loop straps will still work fine in the rain. They...

This adapter bar is self retracting and fits in the cradles of the Rola bike rack. The ends of this adapter bar are slightly smaller than the ends on the Thule adapter bars. I shot a video for you to check out showing the Swagman adapter bar on the Rola bike rack.

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes with a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
  • For your 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport there currently aren't any trunk mounted bike rack options. The best solution I can provide would be to install a hitch and use a hitch mounted carrier. This is the preferred method as there would be no contact with any painted surfaces of your vehicle and it would open you up to other options in the future like towing or a cargo carrier. For a hitch I would recommend the Draw Tite Hitch part # 36509. This is a 2 inch hitch with plenty of capacity. For...

If you don't have a trailer hitch receiver, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75235 because it is an easy bolt on installation and has the Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset for 2" Trailer Hitches # 63201 for accessories. • Let's start off with the hitch receiver. I recommend going with our Curt Class III Receiver Hitch, # 13530, for your 2008 Lexus RX350. This 2" receiver is designed specifically for your Lexus and installs with no welding required. The Rola TX-103 3-Bike Rack, # 59403, that you mentioned works with both a 1-1/4" or 2" hitch. • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 1999 Honda CR-V
  • The trailer hitch we offer that has the shortest distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the rear-mounted spare tire on a CR-V is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13314. That measurement is 6-1/2 inches. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. This measurement was taken with a 2000 CR-V, but a word of caution is to make sure you do not have an oversized tire on the back that could affect the clearance you need. I have attached a link...

  • For a trailer hitch for your 2008 Honda CR-V, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75547, as it is a Class III Hitch with a 2 inch receiver which is compatible with most hitch mounted bike racks and the hitch offers a higher tongue weight capacity than other custom fit hitches for your CR-V. For a hitch mounted bike rack, I recommend the Rola TX-103 3 Bike Carrier, part # 59403. This bike rack will carry 3 bicycles and has a tilting feature that allows you to access...

  • Will Curt RV Bumper Hitch Clear the Spare Tire Support on RV
  • Curt trailer hitch # E-100 should work great with your travel trailer's 4 inch square bumper with a tongue weight of 350 lbs. However I recommend you check with the trailer manufacture to make sure the bumper can support the weight of a bike rack and bikes. You can then use a hitch bike rack with enough clearance to work with the spare tire. If this is the case, then this trailer hitch will work with any hitch mounted bike rack that was designed to fit a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch shank. We have two hitch mounted 3-bike racks with a rotating shank, the Rola TX-103 part # 59403 and the Reese 3-Bike Rack part # 63123. Neither of these bike racks are compatible...

  • Replacement Cradles for Rola TX Series Bike Racks that can be Used on a Different Bike Rack
  • Cradles on bike racks are supposed to be a very tight fit. That is so the bikes don't slide forward and back while traveling. One thing that will help with that is to spray the arms of the bike rack with hairspray and then work the cradles on by twisting them back and forth while pushing at the same time. The hairspray will start out slippery but then get tacky as it dries which will help hold the cradles in place even better. If you want to try the TX cradles then the replacement is...
