Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

The Transfer platform-style bike rack lets you carry 3 fat bikes on the back of your vehicle. The rack holds your bikes by the wheels - not the frames - to protect your paint. The low tray height takes the strain out of mounting your bikes on the rack, and the pivoting cradles and ratcheting wheel hooks make loading your bikes quicker and easier when compared with a rack that has a center post and frame hooks. A foot pedal lets you tilt the rack with bikes loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. And the pedal lets you fold the rack up for storage, too.

Perfect Fit Adjustment System

The Transfer has a Perfect Fit adjustment system that lets you carry your bikes safely and securely without the fear of damaging the frames. The system includes ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes firmly by the front wheels, adjustable front wheel cradles, and pivoting rear cradles that secure your rear wheels to the rack. These hooks and adjustable cradles ensure a perfect fit for each of your bikes' body styles.

Ratcheting Hooks

The ratcheting hooks secure your bikes' front wheels to the rack. Place your bikes on the cradles then simply slide the hooks down over your wheels until they click in place. The hooks hold your bikes firmly in place without contacting the frames. Press the thumb release button on each hook to slide them up and remove your bikes.

Security Straps and Adjustable Front-Wheel Cradles

The Transfer has nylon-webbed cam-buckle straps that help secure your fat bike tires to the front cradles. Simply wrap the straps around the wheels and cradles and secure them with hook-and-loop fasteners.

You can also adjust the pitch of the front cradles using the bolt locator tab at the base of each cradle. In their upright position the cradles sit at the optimal angle for holding a normal-size bike. Use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tabs upside down. This allows the cradles to sit at angles that tilt more toward the center of the rack so that the tires of a child's bike will fit snugly.

Extra-Long Ratcheting Straps and Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradles

The Transfer has extra-long plastic straps to secure your fat bike wheels to the cradles. It also has pivoting cradles that adjust to hold your bikes' rear wheels on the rack. Rotate the cradles out to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 47" long or rotate them toward the center of the rack to accommodate smaller bikes.

Spring-Loaded Foot Lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

The foot lever lets you easily tilt the rack down to allow access to your vehicle's rear cargo area - even with the bikes loaded. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner.

When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Adapter Sleeve with Threaded Hitch Pin

A removable sleeve on the shank lets you convert the rack for use with 1-1/4" hitches. The rack also comes with an anti-rattle device incorporated into the shank to reduce vibration and noise in the hitch for a smooth, quiet ride. Simply tighten the hitch bolt with the included 3/4" wrench.

There is also an optional cable lock and hitch lock (PTSCLK12 - sold separately) that lets you secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Video Transcript for Kuat Transfer Platform Rack for Fat Bikes Review

Today we're going to be looking at the Kuat Transfer Platform Bike Rack for fat tire bikes. It's available on a 2 bike rack, part number TS02G-FB. It's also available in the 3 bike rack, part number TS03G-FB. This special edition of the Kuat Transfer is going to allow you to carry up to 2 or 3 fat tire bikes on the rear of your vehicle. I've gone ahead and loaded up a mountain bike and a road bike in addition to the fat tire bike, just to show you that it's going to work with a wide variety of bikes. One of its best features is it has the ability to tilt away, even with all 3 bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch. What we'll want to do is we'll just take our foot, we'll come underneath to that lever, push it in.

We'll lower it down. Then, as you can see, we've got full access to our rear hatch to remove any cargo, gear, groceries, anything we might have with us. I've gone ahead and removed 2 bikes so we can go over some additional features. Another great feature is there is no frame contact. We don't have to worry about ruining the finish of our bikes. Here in the front we have a large wheel hook putting down pressure in our front wheel into the front wheel cradle.

We also have a hook and loop strap for additional security. In the back we have a strap extension to secure our fat tires. With the fat tire bike removed, let's go ahead and take a look at the cradles. As you can see, it's going to work with a wide variety of tires. Skinny road bike tire, a mountain bike tire, and a fat tire up to 4-1/4 inches wide. Our wheel cradles are adjustable to fit different sizes and styles of bikes.

It'll work with a wheel base of up to 47 inches. When not in use, the rack folds up. Simply push in with your hand or your foot on that same lever. Raise it up until it snaps in place. This will be ideal for pulling in your garage or in a close quarter parking spot. If you'd like to secure your bike rack to your vehicle, and your bikes to your bike rack, you could pick up the optional cable lock and hitch lock from Kuat, with part number PTSCLK13.

For the 2 bike rack, you'll use part number PTSCLK12. It has a weight capacity of 40 pounds per bike. It's constructed of a gunmetal grey powder coated steel, so it's going to be durable and rust resistant. To give you an idea if this bike rack's going to work out best for you, we're going to give you some measurements. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point of the carrier is about 13 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole for the 3 bike rack, all the way out to the end is about 46-1/2 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole for the 2 bike rack, it's about 32-1/2 inches. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. This can be used for other inch and a quarter, or 2 inch, receivers. We've got our included adapter sleeve on there to work with our 2 inch receiver. Another thing to take note of is that the 3 bike version, which is what we have here, weighs 52 pounds. The 2 bike version weighs 37 pounds. If you need to get an extra set of hands that's okay. Let's go ahead and load it up. I'm going to line up our pin holes. Once I get those lined up, we'll take our included anti-rattle bolt and thread that through. The nice thing about the anti-rattle bolt is going to help reduce a lot of play and rattle within our hitch and our bike rack to make for a nice solid ride for our bikes. Once we get that hand tightened, we'll tighten it the rest of the way down. As you can see, most of that play is gone. Then we'll put on our clip. To get ready to load up our bikes, we'll need to lower it into the platform position. We'll come over here. We can use our hand or our foot, whatever is easiest. We'll rotate it down until it snaps into place. For our fat tire bikes, it's going to come with 3 extensions and 3 front wheel security straps. For the 2 bike version, it'll just come with 2. I've already got one installed here. Let's go ahead and grab our fat tire bike. We'll of course want to make sure that that strap is undone. Then, for our front wheel hook, raise it out all the way up. Now we can grab our bike. We'll bring it in, and we're going to set it in that front wheel cradle, then we'll set the back in the rear cradle. Our back tire's not going to sit all way down in the cradle. It's going to sit right on top. That's completely normal. To secure our front wheel hook, the easiest way to do it is to tilt your fat tire bike out just a little bit. That way you can raise your hook up into position, then rotate it back in, then we can just lower it down. Then we can secure our rear wheel strap. It's going to go over our wheel between our spokes. If you have to adjust your tire a little bit that's okay. Then back down in the racket. We can pull down on both sides. Once we have those 2 in place, we'll take our front wheel security strap, bring it over our front wheel like so, then attach it back into itself just like that. With our bike all loaded up, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performs. First, let's go into our slalom. This is going to show side to side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over pot holes or uneven pavement. That's going to complete our look. The Kuat Transfer Platform Style Rack for fat tire bikes. Part number TS03G-FB for the 3 bike rack, and part number TS02G-FB for the 2 bike rack.

I want to thank all your team members for great videos, pictures and demonstrations of your product. It was really easy to understand and use the 3- bike rack. You guys did way better job than the manufacturing company to inform and explain the product features and benefits. I installed the rack and took a short test drive with 3 bikes at 65 miles speed and try the breaks and turn left and right; everything looks great so far. The rack looks well built and really easy to set the bikes on. I loaded the fat tire bike, mountain bike and the cyclocross bike really easily. I also purchased the locks; easy installation and solid cables. I still have to test it at 80 miles/hour, but I don’t think I will have a problem because the rack is very solid. Great purchase. Thanks again for a great purchase experience. 12/09/2018 589554

Not only was eTrailer easy to purchase from, when they heard I have a trip coming up they prioritized my shipment so I can get it on time. The Kuat Transfer bike rack was probably one of the easiest installs I’ve ever done. Everything fit perfect and I hat the whole thing together and mounted in the hitch in roughly 35mins. Although the rack is only rated for a 4.5” fat bike tire, my 4.6” tires fit. They are only 26” in size, so that might be why. 830905

Let me start off by saying the customer service from etrailer so far has been great...as long as my return is processed correctly I will update from great to really great. I sold my Thule T2 Classic as my version could not be upgraded/modified for my new fat bike. I purchased the Kuat Transfer 3 and lock set specifically because it is supposedly made for fat bikes. After 2 hours of assembly it was time for the moment of truth but the bike wouldn't fit. The tires really didn't sit well in the cradles and the arm was about 3" too short to make it over the front wheel. I tried removing the locking end as that seemed like it was making the arm a bit shorter but even without the lock I was about 2" short. The rep at etrailer took great care of me and processed my return without even a hint of a hassle. Unfortunately I had to spend the next hour disassembling the rack, re-packing it and bringing it to UPS. I also had to pay for 1/2 of the shipping costs...that wasn't great. I love to shop with etrailer...could have been worse with another retailer. 716683

I bought the FAT Bike Kit but this will not support my XL 29er Fat bike. The arms are too short. I purchased the locks also but they are near worthless as all you need to do is unscrew them. Horrible design. On the good side, I like the way it tilts down with the foot release. 673495

This is the 4th bike rack I have purchased. I wish I would have spent the money and bought a good one (like this) the 1st time instead of wasting money on cheap racks. My 3rd rack wasn’t cheap, but it didn’t match my needs. This rack is quick to put on the vehcile, super quick to load and unload the bikes. I love the built-in locks. Between my kids and I, we have a hybrid road bike, a fat bike and a 27.5+. This rack meets every need for us. 601477

After a year, follow up review. My first statement still stands, I should have invested in a good rack like this one the first time. Very versatile.

I am unable to load 12 inches kids bike on this Rack.... so much disappointing as I got this rack so that I can go with my 3 year son, please help. 646712

Comments
The smallest wheel diameter this bike rack is compatible with is a 20 inch wheel, due to the span of the wheel cradles. I have checked with Kuat, and at this time they do now have an adapter that would help close the gap for bikes smaller than 12 inch wheels.

Review from a similar Transfer in Hitch Bike Racks

As a single women I was looking for something easy & not heavy. I like being able to just pick up the bike & place it on however if you really click the hook part down hard its impossible to release the mechanism. I had to use the end of a screw driver against my chest OUCH to put enough pressure to release. I took it to my local bike shop he had quite a time also when he really locked it down took 2 of his thumbs together to release. So my dilemma is I can only secure it like 1-2 clicks down which it will move & I will have to use a bungi cord for more security. Wish the release part worked better. 746090

It looks like a very strong and sturdy rack, but it's too heavy. I consider myself pretty strong. But to put this on my car myself is very difficult. I'm considering looking for another one and returning this one. 264355

I ordered this and a trailer hitch on Tuesday and they arrived on Friday. The products are awesome, the install videos are great, their communication was great (called to make sure I didn't want to let a $3 part hold up the order) and they sent a follow up email after delivery! When I replied to the email after hours on a Friday night I got a reply within an hour. An all around good expierience. I would say the bike rack is a great value. 285777

Review from a similar Transfer in Hitch Bike Racks

I assembled this rack pretty easily by myself in about an hour--easy instructions & all the hardware was clearly marked. Heads up: Getting the rack into the hitch was the tricky part--very hard to get it in with just 2 people. Not only is it very heavy & therefore very sturdy (52 lbs.), but the part that attaches to the hitch rotates up & down, so I needed my husband & our neighbor to lift it while I guided it into the hitch. With the 3 of us that part took only a couple of minutes. It folds up great--I thought it would add much more length to the car, but it is very compact when folded. The foot pedal is such a breeze to use. Taking the rack down takes a few seconds; at 1st I could not figure out how to reach the foot pedal when folding it back up. Then I realized I just had to swing the 1st two arms OUT to sides so I could walk in & depress the pedal. After I lifted the rack a few inches, I then could swing the arms all the way inward, & then finish snapping the rack into the folded position. The rack did wiggle a bit when I tested it by shaking it with my hand, but it not make any noise while driving, with or without the bikes on! I am very happy with it! 487012

Love the functionality and quality build. Easy to mount & unmount bikes, holds them securely. Only thing to be aware of is that it is quite heavy, making it challenging to mount & dismount from car on its own 660716

Review from a similar Transfer in Hitch Bike Racks

Love it! Super easy to get the bikes off and on. One bolt secures the rack to the vehicle so putting the bike rack on the car or taking it off is also a relatively quick and easy operation. The bike rack isn't light though, so lifting it into place may not be easy for everyone. The one minor thing to consider is that since this is a 3 bike rack, my leg isn't long enough to reach the tilt lever with 3 bikes on the rack (not really a big deal since I just stand to the side, bend down and use my hand). Having said that, I love that I have a tilt option that allows access to my hatchback without having to take the bikes off. Would make this purchase again. 399276

Review from a similar Transfer in Hitch Bike Racks

I absolutely love this bike rack, and use it every day that the weather permits. While I usually leave it on my car, it is quite easy to remove and put back on. I have no problems lowering it to access the back hatch of my car. As a very petite woman, I was worried it would be too big or heavy to maneuver. But I have no problems getting it off or on. I can put my bike on it and have the bike secured in just seconds. Sometimes I pull up at the trailhead at the same time as other people. I am always the first one done with getting the bike loaded up. I usually ride alone, but when riding with a friend, it has been easy to load two bikes, and they both stay securely in their place, with no rubbing or scratching. I also had no problems putting it together by myself. It is perhaps the first item I’ve ever assembled that had the instructions written in correct and easy to understand English. I also want to say that the company has excellent customer service. I had called them with questions before purchasing, and they got back to me very promptly and answered all my questions. They also followed up with me one year later to check on how I liked their product. I consider them to be a first class company to do business with. 565424

  • Best Trailer Hitch To Use Kuat Transfer Bike Rack on 2018 Subaru Forester
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75876 which is a fit for a 2018 Subaru Forester will be an excellent option for the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes part # TS03B-FB which is actually one of my favorite bike racks.
