Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Rack

The Transfer platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The rack holds your bikes by the wheels - not the frames - to protect your paint. The low tray height takes the strain out of mounting your bikes on the rack, and the pivoting cradles and ratcheting wheel hooks make loading your bikes quicker and easier when compared with a rack that has a center post and frame hooks. A foot pedal lets you tilt the rack with bikes loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. And the pedal lets you fold the rack up for storage, too.

Perfect Fit Adjustment System

The Transfer has a Perfect Fit adjustment system that lets you carry your bikes safely and securely without the fear of damaging the frames. The system includes ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes firmly by the front wheels, adjustable front wheel cradles, and pivoting rear cradles that secure your rear wheels to the rack. These hooks and adjustable cradles ensure a perfect fit for each of your bikes' body styles.

Ratcheting Hooks

The ratcheting hooks secure your bikes' front wheels to the rack. Place your bikes on the cradles then simply slide the hooks down over your wheels until they click in place. The hooks hold your bikes firmly in place without contacting the frames. Press the thumb release button on each hook to slide them up and remove your bikes.

Adjustable Front-Wheel Cradles

Each of the front cradles has a bolt locator tab that allows the pitch to be adjusted. In its upright position the cradles sit at the optimal position for holding a normal-size bike. Use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tab upside down. This allows the cradle to sit in a position that tilts more toward the center of the rack so that the tires of a children's bike will fit snugly.

Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradles

The Transfer has pivoting cradles that adjust to your bikes' rear wheels on the rack. Rotate the cradles out to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 47" long or rotate them toward the center of the rack to accommodate smaller bikes. Ratcheting straps secure your wheels to the cradles. A strap extender kit (APBK - sold separately) is available to convert the cradles for use with fat bikes.

Spring-Loaded Foot Lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

The foot lever lets you easily tilt the rack down to allow access to your vehicle's rear cargo area - even with the bikes loaded. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner.

When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Adapter Sleeve with Threaded Hitch Pin

A removable sleeve on the shank lets you convert the rack for use with 1-1/4" hitches. The rack also comes with an anti-rattle device incorporated into the shank to reduce vibration and noise in the hitch for a smooth, quiet ride. Simply tighten the hitch bolt with the included 3/4" wrench.

There is also an optional cable lock and hitch lock (PTSCLK12 - sold separately) that lets you secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Video Transcript for Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at Kuat Transfer platform style two-bike rack. Part number TS02G. That's for the color gray. It's also available in Black. TS02B.The Kuat Transfer is a platform-style bike rack with a different approach. It has no center mast.

It has a step through design so we can easily access our bikes. As you can see, there's no platform to get in our way, so it's going to make loading and unloading easy. It also has an easy to access foot petal so we can tilt the rack away, even with bikes loaded, to access our rear hatch. Again, this is easier because there no platform to get in the way.Our bikes are held in place by a wheel hook and a wheel strap. There is no frame contact.

Its a ratcheting wheel hook that puts down pressure on our front wheel into our front wheel cradle. The rear cradle uses a strap to keep the rear wheel in place. We gone ahead and removed our bikes so we can take a closer look. The front wheel cradles are going to accept road bike tires, mountain bike tires, and fat tires up to 4 1/2 inches wide. For fat bikes you will need an adapter kit sold separately with part number APBK.

The rear cradle accepts all the same tire sizes. The only difference is for fat bikes, you have to swap out the strap from your fat bike kit. Or if you prefer, you can pick up the bike rack with the fat bike kit included with part number TS02G-FB in gray, and in black part number TS02B-FB.The cradles are adjustable for bikes of different sizes. The rear one pivots within the slot. The front cradles are adjustable by loosening up the tab with the included tool, and rotating it.

This is gonna raise the bike up which can help with handlebar spacing between the two bikes. When not in use, the wheel hooks fold flat. This allows us to fold the whole bike rack up against our vehicle for compact storage. Now this is ideal for pulling into a tight parking spot or pulling your garage overnight. The distance of the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded up is five inches. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded down is 7 1/5 inches. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest edge of the carrier when folded down is 32 5/8 of an inch. The whole rack has a powder coated finish to resist rust and corrosion, and it features a limited lifetime warranty. Our customers mostly compare the Kuat Transfer to the more traditional Swagman XTC2. Compared to the Transfer, the XTC2 has a traditional platform with a center mast and hooks that contact our bikes frame. It does not tilt away, and the open wheel cradles leave your tires exposed. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll show you how to get it installed. Now, this is gonna work with inch and a quarter or two inch hitches, class one, two, and three. It includes a sleeve to work with our two inch by two inch receiver. What we'll do is feed it into our receiver tube, line up our pin holes. Once we've got it lined up, take our antiretroviral clip, and start threading that through. Once we've got it hand tightened, we can take our included tool, and finish tightening it up. Then we can just put our clip on the opposite side. Now we can get it ready to load up our bikes. The way we do that, is we take our foot, push down on the foot pedal, lower it down until it rests. Then we can raise out our wheel hooks, and undo our rear wheel straps. Now, it's recommended that you load up your heaviest bike first. So, raise it up. As you can see, that step through the design is gonna make it a lot easier to load up our bikes. W it in position, we can raise up our wheel hook, right in front of our fork or outbreak, whichever comes first. Once it makes contact, give like a push, and then it's secure. With it in position, we can then raise up our wheel hook. Now this is gonna end up in front of our fork, or our breaks, whatever comes first. I'll lower it down so it makes contact Question: our tire, and then we'll give it like a push, and then it's secure. For our rear cradle, it pivots to match or tires. Once it's seating correctly, we can run our strap through and pull it down through the other side.I've gone ahead and loaded up my second bike the same way. Now we can take it out and run our test course, and see how it performs. This is our test course. Let's start with our slalom. This shows side to side action, such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then on to our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting acton, such as hitting curves, potholes, road debris, or uneven pavement. That's gonna complete our look at Kuat Transfer platform style two bike rack, part number TS02G.

- TS02B

I absolutely love it. Sturdy easy to assemble, install on my vehicle, and use both my bikes. 487620

This is a great hitch mount bike rack. I put it on my wife's car and it's really easy to raise and lower, which she appreciates. Fits our two medium size full suspension mountain bikes perfect and adjusts for larger or smaller sizes. 544592

- TS02B

Rack is extremely sturdy. Fits everything from my extra long wheelbase mountain bike to my carbon road bike. 604573

- TS02B

Install was straightforward. The rack seems very solid and you can't beat the price. I used the rack for the first time last night and the bike and rack did not move at all while driving. Hopefully the rack holds up in time. 503704

I'm really happy with my new kuat bike carrier. I'm impressed how well it secures the bikes so easily. (Both road & mtb) I also like the three different positions. (Up, middle, down) It has really came in handy transporting more than one bike now. (Use to put inside car) etrailer also shipped asap and followed up with me about my order! 491606

I really like the bike rack. It has been serving me well so far. Im glad I made the purchase & from etrailer at that. Thank you for the follow up. Good customer service is getting harder to get these days & this helps assure my confidence in etrailer.com

it does the job and it very simple to work and i like the option of 1.25 or 2" sleeve. Time will tell on the quality. We have used it regularly since June 2018 long trips 3-9 hours of driving and several local 30 min drives and never has shown signs of loosening up and bikes tumbling down the road. 562794

This is the second unit I have purchased. I bought one over a year ago and love it. I bought a second one for my son to use while he’s away at college. I really like way this design holds the bikes; very secure and easy to switch between road bikes and mountain bikes. I would strongly recommend the lock kit - just buy it right away. It’s so much better being able to leave the vehicle and never worry about your bikes being stolen. 603165

The Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack is a well-designed and functional bike carrying rack. Assembly instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The tilting rack works very well, even loaded with two bikes, and provides ample clearance when opening the rear tailgate. I am very confident that my bikes will travel safe and secure on the Kuat Transfer 2. 579422

Rack was super easy to put together. Rack install was fairly easy. Highly recommend a helping hand or a floor Jack to hold one side of the hitch. 484330

Having owned this for a year now. It has been for the most part full time attached to my honda civic coupe 06 with no problems what so ever. Super simple to operate, even the wife can mount our bikes. Large and small transition patrol 15s. I would highly recommend this rack

Great bike rack. I have another one by a different brand and this is much better built and lighter and the arms that cover front wheels work easily. Etrailer has great customer service and super fast shipping and great prices 541275

- TS02B

First every bike carrier so not much to compare to, but fit and finish seem top notch. Assembly fairly simple and installation a breeze. Bikes seem solid. I'm not concerned about them going anywhere. Fair price and from a fantastic vendor here with etrailer. Couldn't be happier. 509169

I purchased the Kuat transfer 2 bike rack for the ease of loading/unloading for my wife as we wanted a wheel mount rack. I put it together and loaded bikes up and took a test run around the neighborhood. The bikes were very stable and I believe the rack will be good for traveling. We also bought the cable lock and hitch lock kit. I wish the locking cable was long enough to go through the front wheel as well as the frame as it has the length to just go around the frame. Chedi J at etrailer was very helpful with our selection. 555242

I don’t like to review a product until I’ve used it a while. That being said it looks well enough made. Etrailer nice job ! 505736

Received my TS02B on time as promised. Assembly was straight forward and easy and all tools were provided. Have not gone on a trip yet, but loaded two 30# bikes on it and it seemed very sturdy and secure with no "play" or wobble. Loading and removing the bikes is very simple and easy. 734041

This review is third party as this was a gift to my cousin (along with the hitch and locks). I assembled the rack, installed it, set it up for her bikes and showed her how to use it. Overall, this rack is excellent. Well made, goes together well and functions perfectly. My cousin has text me several times over the past season that she lives the bike rack. And frankly, if it was terrible she would have replaced it on her own. She even gets compliments from the bike repair shop she visits for annual tuneups. She finds that the layout of the rack makes it much easier to load and unload the bikes and to access the rear hatch of the CRV this is installed on. 726985

- TS02B

This is the lightest hitch bike rack I could find that got good reviews. I’m a 69 year old woman so weight of the rack is important. It is easy to install on the hitch and putting the bikes on is a snap. The bike rack rides very stable in the hitch even on dirt roads. Over all I am very pleased. 720884

- TS02B

This is by far the best rack I have ever purchased. Works very well with all mountain bikes I have put on it, including my new Plus sized bike with 29x3.0 tires. You do have to angle the bike toward the car after you raise the arm up then put it over the front tire to clear it. You only have to do this on big tire bikes. Kuat customer service is Excellent!!!! 718151

- TS02B

Excellent product. Holds the bikes well with minimal rocking, but must use the provided bolt through the receiver rather than the normal pin typically used for trailers etc. A little heavier than I expected but needs to be to hold the bikes stable. So far so good. 717837

- TS02B

This was one of the best purchases I have made. It works great and is so easy to use. Great design. 717403

- TS02B

This is a great rack! No issues so far, it is easy to load, unload and fold up. It holds 2 bikes securely, even when I hit that hidden rise in the road at speed. I thought for sure that the bikes would be lost but no issues. I really appreciate all of the information that etrailer provides for each of the different racks so I was able to pick the perfect one for my needs! 715466

- TS02B

I purchased this Kuat carrier based on my experience with my other bike rack, a Kuat NV2. The overall quality of the materials is excellent. I purchased this model because I wanted the best quality I could get, with the lightest weight for my Subaru Crosstrek. The only thing I don't like is that this carrier moves around a lot more than my NV2. I'm confident it is strong, and will perform well for years. Assembly was simple, and as always Kuat provides all the tools needed and a nice bag to carrier them in. Super fast shipping from Etrailer, and assume videos. Always an excellent experience. 713572

- TS02B

Rack is doing its job. It even handles two mountain bikes. Handy that it will fold down far enough to use tailgate of truck. The foot operated handle must be double checked as it does not fully engage into the locked position. Plastic parts of the rack, especially the hook for the front tire squeals like a pig when rotated. Cant make it stop unless bolts are loosened which is not desirable. 711514

- TS02B

Great products very well put together well worth the money I paid 714885

  • Comparing the Kuat Transfer 2 and RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Racks
I am personally a big fan of the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TS02B for a few reasons. The first being that the center portion is open so you can walk right up inside of the rack and place your bikes in the cradles whereas for the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10003 you will have to stop at some point and lift the bike up and over the center section. The other reason I prefer the Kuat Transfer 2 is because it just has a more aesthetically pleasing look...

  • Recommended Bike Rack Stabilizer for Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack in Hitch of 2017 Hyundai Elantra
I was able to look up your order number and it sounds like you are seeing more movement than you like in the vertical movement of the Kuat Transfer 2 # TS02B in your Draw Tite # 24939 hitch receiver. Because the pin is securing it to the sides, you may simply need to tighten that bolt a little more to also stabilize the vertical movement. If you have already tried that and are still left desiring more stability then I recommend adding an anti-wobble like the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Womens Bike with Fenders and Basket
I do have an option for you but the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TS02B won't work with your wife's bike because there is a fender in the way that the hook needs to secure too. If you place the hook in front of the fender you run the risk of it falling off and losing the bike. Instead, the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack part # SA4412B would be a much better option because you would hook the frame clamp to the drop tube without needing an adapter bar or having to worry about...

The EcoHitch part # 306-X7305 for your 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback is a really great choice for a trailer hitch and would also work really well with the Kuat Transfer part # TS02B that you mentioned as well. This hitch would allow you enough clearance for the bike rack to fit folded up as well. Platform racks are much easier to load and unload which is why most people prefer them. Also most are more expensive and heavier than the Transfer so it's a really great value as well. I attached a...

  • Best 2-Bike Rack for Limited Ground Clearance
The Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TS02B is actually one of the best platform style bike racks for vehicles with limited ground clearance as it has a short shank as well as a shank rise so this will give you the best chance of not scraping while pulling out of your steep driveway. The Kuat Transfer also just so happens to be my favorite bike rack because it is lightweight therefore easy to take on/off the vehicle and because it has an open frame which means you can just walk...

  • Can Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack # TS02G Carry Bike with 3 inch Wide Tires Without Adapter
Your 3 inch tire will fit perfectly into the wheel slots of the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack # TS02G without using the adapter part # APBK. The adapter is only needed if the tire is fatter than 3 inches. You are right at the limit, but it's a "comfortable" limit so you'd be totally fine. If you think someday you will own a fat bike I'd go with the part # TS02G-FB now even though it's not needed, but otherwise you'd be fine with the standard # TS02B.

  • Is Vertical Movement of the Kuat Transfer Normal when Installed in Trailer Hitch Receiver
The Kuat Transfer # TS02B uses a threaded hitch pin that will pull the bike rack shank tight to the inside of the receiver. It is normal; shanks on accessories have to be slightly smaller than the receiver opening so that they can easily be installed and removed. That tiny bit of space is not much at the receiver but the further away from the receiver the more it seems to move. That is the nature of the...

My tech contact at Kuat told me that the wheelbase on their Transfer 2 Platform Hitch Rack # TS02B does have a small amount of adjustment possible to slightly increase the spacing between the front and rear wheel cradles. This won't make up for the whole 1-1/2-inches difference between the rack's rated 47-inch wheelbase and the Giant Reign SX Large's 48-1/2-inch wheelbase but it will make for a perfectly safe fit. We do not have the distances from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the spare tire for either the Draw-Tite # 76104 or Curt # C13392 hitches on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, unfortunately. That said, the accompanying photo does show the Curt hitch on a '18 Wrangler JL, and it sticks out to about the edge of the bumper; the Draw-Tite has some photos in the linked directions that make it look like it also sticks out to at least the edge of the bumper. Another thing to consider...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Backup Camera Use on a 2019 Toyota Highlander
The best folding bike rack that will obstruct the backup camera on your 2019 Toyota Highlander the least is the Kuat Transfer. This comes in Gray # TS02G and Black # TS02B and has been test fit on a 2016 Highlander (see attached video) which is the same generation as your 2019. The biggest difference between this and a Thule hanging rack is that it is a wheel mount bike rack. The great thing about wheel mount bike racks is that it can accommodate any bike frame style as long as you don't...

  • Recommendation for Carrying a Bike with a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 for Easy Trunk Access
Since trunk mount bike racks must be removed each and every time the trunk is opened I highly recommend going with a hitch mounted bike rack. I know you said you don't have a trailer hitch on your 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 but we have everything you need to easily carry your bike while also being able to seamlessly access the trunk on your Sedan. The only trailer hitch that is available for your vehicle is the Curt Class I # C11030 with the 1-1/4" receiver. Because this is a Class I trailer...

  • Correct Trailer Hitch for a 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36643 is a confirmed fit for a 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. I have attached for you the installation instructions though these are the same for both the Avalon and Camry. As you mentioned, there is a fit issue with the Camry Hybrid but not the Avalon Hybrid so you will be good to go. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver comes with everything that you need for installation save for tools. If you will be using the trailer hitch for a bike rack,...

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for Kuat Transfer
For your Kuat Transfer # TS02B the anti-rattle device/hitch lock you'd want is the part # HLT. This replaces the hitch pin you have with a threaded one that holds the hitch tight to the hitch tube and also locks it there. A u-bolt style of anti-rattle device would not be your best option.

  • Kuat Transfer 1 Compared To Thule T1 Bike Rack On 2018 Mazda CX-5 Carrying Carbon Fiber Bikes
Both racks are a great choice and will fit the hitch but the Kuat Transfer part # TS01B is your best option because it weighs about 3 lbs less than the Thule T1 1-Bike Platform Rack part # TH9041 which isn't much but makes it a bit easier to take in and out of the hitch. The rack weighs about 26 lbs. It also tilts-away with the bike still attached for easy rear cargo access compared to the Thule that does not tilt-away at all. The Kuat does not come with the locks you will need part # PTSCLK12...

  • Best Bike Rack for a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime with Class I Trailer Hitch
In order to use a hitch mounted bike rack with your 2017 Toyota Prius Prime you need a trailer hitch. For this I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24966. The Draw-Tite Sportframe is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. The only trailer hitch receivers they make for your Prius Prime are Class I. Therefore, you will need to use only Class I rated bike racks. In addition to the class rating you need to take into consideration the recessed receiver...

  • Wheel-Mount 2-Bike Platform Rack for Class 1 Hitch on 2006 Toyota Prius
The Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4025F will fit 2-inch (Class III) hitches and also 1-1/4-inch (Class II) hitches but it will NOT fit a Class I hitch even though it is the same 1-1/4-inch size. The reason is that Class I hitches usually have a welded-in stop to prevent use of any accessory that is not rated as Class I. This helps to avoid accidental overloading of the hitch. You are absolutely right that there are heavier racks like the Thule EasyFold # TH903202 that...

  • Can the Kuat Transfer 2 Be Broken Down Into the Kuat Transfer 1
The Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack part # TS01B itself would not obstruct the view of your rear view camera while folded up or down but the bike you mount onto this while folded down likely would. This will be the case for pretty much any bike rack you mount on your 2019 Subaru Forester. The Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack does come with the 1-1/4" to 2" adapter. The Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TS02B is pretty much the same as the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack...

  • Will Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack Work on 212 VW Eos With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch
We have not had a chance to test fit the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24824 on a 2012 VW Eos so I can't tell you definitively if the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack - Gray # TS02G or Black # TS02B will have enough clearance. Based on the accompanying photo showing this hitch installed on an Eos it looks like it should, but the issue with the Transfer is that it is only 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when the rack is folded up (and...
