hollywood racks e bike loaded

The TRS platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 2 standard or fat tire bikes on the rear of your vehicle. This rack uses ratcheting hooks, wheel stops, and straps to hold your bikes by the wheels with no frame contact. An anti-rattle, threaded hitch pin tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver. Also, the rack tilts down with bikes loaded and folds up when not in use.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

trs hooks and wheel stops

The rack uses a wheel-mount design that allows you to quickly load and carry bikes with no frame contact. It includes wide wheel stops that accommodate tires up to 4-1/2" wide and padded, ratcheting hooks on pivoting arms that secure your bikes by the wheels. The release buttons allow each hook to slide up the ratcheting arm for bike removal.

trs wheel straps

The wheel trays accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 48" and include ratcheting wheel straps to keep your bikes in place.

Folding, Tilting Design

trs tilting rear hatch

The rack tilts, with or without bikes loaded, for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Simply remove the pivot pin, pull the bottom quick-release spring pin, and lower the rack.

trs folded

The rack also folds up against the back of your vehicle when it's not in use. To raise the rack, put the pivoting arms and wheel stops in the stowed position, pull the quick-release pin, and lift.

Easy Installation with Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin

trs hitch

The TRS easily installs in your trailer hitch receiver with the included hitch pin. This pin works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the tube. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and tighten it down with a 3/4" or 19mm wrench. Then, just insert the hitch pin clip.

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

available lock pin and cable

A hitch lock and cable lock set (sold separately) is also recommended for theft deterrence.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack Review

Adam: What's going on everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at a bike rack, one specifically but we do carry a lot of bike racks here at etrailer, you guys probably know but these are basically just used to get your bikes from your house to your favorite hotspot that you guys like to ride but today, we're going to be focusing on the Hollywood Racks TRS 2 bike rack. This is going to be a bike rack that you can put a fat bike on straight out of the box, you don't have to buy any other adapters, which is fantastic so I'm going to go ahead and start from the beginning and load this thing up.As you can see on the end here, we have a sleeve and that's going to make it compatible with my two inch hitch receiver on my Tahoe here, but we can actually take that off and that's going to allow us to put it on not only a two inch hitch, but also, we're going to be able to use it with any inch and a quarter hitch as well. It is going to come with an anti rattle, which is something I really look for because it just takes out all that slop on the inside of our hitch receiver. You can just put it in there like so.Just to kind of show you guys what kind of slop you guys would be dealing with if we didn't have an anti rattle that as we tighten this thing down, you'll see that we're going to take out all of that shake and play so it's going to be a little bit easier on your hitch, a little bit easier on the bike rack and also your bikes. The least amount of movement that my bikes have on my rack, the better and as you can see, pretty much solid and luckily, we actually do have a locking core that comes with it and nice little cap to keep all the elements out of it and that pretty much just plops in on the other end, snaps on like that. This is going to be a little theft deterrent and you can put that cap on if you want.

We are going to get some keys with our kit so if we we're to take it off, all you really got to do is just twist it and it comes right off and we can still remove the key too whenever it's off, put it back on real quick just to give you that added protection. What we got to do is just pull a little lever on the side, really easy to get to and put it down. I'm going to go ahead and take our wheel hooks and slide them out and the wheel hooks are going to be great for your carbon fiber bikes as well and we're going to be throwing a carbon fiber bike and a fat tire bike on here because both of them are within the 48 inches of wheelbase that we need to not exceed. If you guys plan on bringing a fat bike along, make sure it's going to be under 50 pounds. The nice thing about it is we can actually just move these bottom straps around to make it to where they go through that wheel nice and cleanly and we do have a little pad on the end too. I do like the finish on my wheels so I like to keep them like that and that pad is going to help prevent any damage from happening but before we really connect these, we do want to put the wheel hook up and into place because that's going to hold the bike upright and to do that, all you really need to do is rotate it up and want to make sure we want to go on the very farthest back of the top of the tires as we can so basically, we're going to put it up against our front part of our bike here, just so it's not going to move anywhere but as you guys can see, it pretty much holds it up into place. One thing to note, if you guys only have one fat tire bike that you guys are planning on loading up, put it on the closest to the bumper of your vehicle, just because it's probably going to be heavier than the other bikes you put on there. Pretty simple to put these straps into place, kind of push them down.

You can move that little pad if you need to and give it a good tug and we can do the same exact thing for the back tire. Now I want to put my carbon fiber bike on the back just because it's a lot lighter but there is a very big difference between these two. So this wheel hook is very uniquely designed and as you can see, the tire with our road bike and the tire with our fat bike are extremely different but the hook is going to accommodate very well for both of them so don't be scared to buy this one thinking that your bikes might not be able to work with it. As you guys can see, we have two extremely different bikes and they work just great. So take a look. With it all loaded up, it honestly looks really, really good. I don't know if it's just the two bikes that we picked to put on there really goes with the theme and color of the bike rack but it might just be the anodized color that they do with this bike rack here and the good thing about it is it's not really going to wear away and fade over time because it is aluminum so it is going to resist against rust and corrosion over time. One thing to note, I mess with a lot of bike racks day in, day out and this one actually didn't give me a whole lot of trouble.

There's a couple of them that I really dislike loading the bikes up on and this one isn't one of them but this is I would say the least fun part of the ride but now, we're going to go ahead and go down to the trail and have some fun. If you guys are looking for a bike rack that really does it all, I do think that the TRS 2 is going to do that for you just because one, we have two different hitch sizes that we can use it with; a two inch and an inch and a quarter. Two, we can use fat tire bikes on this bike rack out of the box, we don't have to grab any additional wheel cradles or anything like that. It's ready to go and also, it's going to be great for your carbon fiber bikes as well so pretty much a lot of different wheel sizes, a lot of different bike frames and of course, the two different hitch sizes I do think is going to be pretty much everything you really need in a bike rack and that's just me, but it also comes with all the locks and stuff which gives me peace of mind whenever I'm going on the road or just going in a new spot, I don't know the people around there, I like to just lock all my good, nice equipment onto my vehicle and I definitely know that this bike rack comes with all that.So if you guys are like me and you try to maximize your days, I honestly usually throw my bike rack and my bikes in the back of my car when I go and run errands so then if I get all my errands done in time, I have all the gear I need to go ahead and go riding so it definitely is a good thing and luckily we have a tilting feature so if you guys have a bunch of stuff in the back of your vehicle, you can access it without removing your bikes. It is a little harder to use the tilting feature with the bikes installed but there's a pin down low here we've got to remove first but luckily, we don't have to worry about losing it because it is attached and then we can go ahead and pull that little lever and tilt it back. So whether you guys are grabbing groceries or anything like that, we are going to be able to access everything in the back whether it's groceries, charcoal, you name it, you don't really have to worry about having to remove your bikes and this is just going to make it all really, really quick and easy to get your errands done so you can get to the trails a little bit quicker. One thing I would definitely recommend you guys grabbing and it is sold separately and that's going to be a cable lock for our bikes. Yes, we do have a lock that's going to lock our bike rack to our hitch and that does come with it but we don't have any other locking mechanism to lock our bikes to the rack so I would definitely recommend you guys grabbing that just so whenever we are running errands or just running in anywhere, no one can just go ahead and take our bikes off because it is really, really quick and easy to take them off and put them on so I would definitely recommend grabbing a cable. All right well, I'm done messing around, got all my stuff done and it's way too nice out not to ride.

Luckily, I have all of my bikes in my rack on the back of my vehicle so we're going to go ahead and hit the trails. All righty. Well, here we are. I'm going to go ahead and start taking my bikes off. So I brought the carbon fiber bike for my cameraman, Chris, and he's going to be riding that one, but I'm going to go ahead and ride the fat bike, we're going to have a little bit of fun. I'm going to press in this little tab here, fold it up, pull it out and then I'll give this to Chris and put it all back, fold this down just so it's more so out of the way and I usually just reconnect all these, you guys don't have to, it's just something I like to do.All right, now for this fat tire bike. I am going to undo the wheel straps first just because it doesn't really hold it upright, we went over that so now all I got to do. do that. I know there's not a whole lot of people in this parking lot but I always like to take extra precautions, maybe it'll get more crowded later so what I'm going to do is use the same exact nob I used for the tilting feature and just fold it up just because now I'm in inside these lines here, when it was folded out, I was a little bit farther and somebody might run into me and if we are doing this at night or something like that, we do have reflectors too to maybe help whoever is behind us to see it but obviously, it's daylight out and we don't really have much use for them there but other than that, I'm going to go ahead and grab my bike and there's a couple more different options that we do have.We have one that's going to be extremely similar to this but if you guys don't have a need for the inch and a quarter shank, one, it's just going to come just with the two inch shank all together and it is going to have a little bit nicer locking mechanism and anti rattle device so you guys can go ahead and go on etrailer, check out a couple of videos on those, check those out but if you guys have fat tire bikes, normal bikes, mountain bikes but also e-bikes, there is an e-bike version available for the TRS 2 as well so go ahead, check out some videos on the website to pick the bike rack for you guys and your guys applications. I found mine and I'm going to go ahead and enjoy it. See you guys, hope you guys enjoyed the video and again, I'm Adam with etrailer.

We use this rack frequently to haul bikes to our favorite riding places. We also used it to transport our son's bike across the country. This rack is easy to use and works great. 574987

The Hollywood HR3000 is a very solid and well thought out platform bike rack. There were no missing parts and the instructions were not difficult to follow. We have a Subaru Forester and the rack installed, mounted and folded easily and worked as advertised. I'v used it once to carry a cyclocross bike and a mountain bike and both loaded and unloaded with no problems. The construction is "beefy" and should last a long time. It is a vast improvement over my previous rack and the extra cost is well worth it. 490869

I've had this hitch for a day and used it just once on my Miata (class 2). Going on a trip tomorrow and will use it on a Nissan Frontier pickup (class 3). It seems like a quality hitch for a very good price. I feel like buying one of those other brands (named after cities) you are paying a premium for the brand name. Hollywood provides a great value without gouging my wallet. I like the aluminum rails and the entire system is easy to use. Just holding off one star since I've only had it for a day. As a bonus it arrived a day earlier than it was scheduled! 426883

The rack worked nicely on its first short trip - easy to load, secure, and stable. I intentionally drove through some substantial dips to test it - very stable. Assembly was less daunting than it first appeared. So far - great rack and good price. 515599

Having had good experiences with etrailer.com in the past, buying from them again was a no brainer. When there was a problem with my past order, they stuck with me to a satisfactory resolution to the problem. After an auto accident where I was rear end and the bike rack destroyed, I salvaged what parts I could and saved them. I bought the same bike rack again. These racks ar easy to use, well made, and they hold the bikes securely. Once again I was in a wreck, and again, it destroyed the rack. I was able to combine the salvaged parts from both racks to make one good one. This ability and the excellent functionality of these racks make me a loyal fan and would buy it again if I ever need one. I highly recommend the HR3000 and a trainer.com hitch if you need it. They fit well and are sturdy. 786087

The company acknowledged my order within minutes, shipped it the next day. It arrived in perfect condition 48 hours later. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The hubby had it together and on the Buick in about 45 minutes. The first test drive went great. Next time we use it will be a 1600 mile trip from Florida to Minnesota. The return flight of the rare and exotic snowbirds. PS. The local bike shop priced this model at $xx.xx. more than what we paid from this website. I'm glad I found etrailer.com 764170

The carrier arrived well packaged and undamaged. It went together OK, but I did have to look on line for instructions. Instructions of some type would be nice just to inventory the parts. It fits a 1 and 1/4 receiver quite nicely. I used it today for the first time. Incredibly easy to load two bikes and they fit snug and secure. This carrier is a bit heavy but it is solid and extremely well built. It does all of the things you want a carrier to do. It also fits perfectly on my 2017 Subaru Forester. I cannot see why this carrier would not last a super long time, and I would recommend it to anyone. 744619

Shipment arrived very quickly in a carton box. There is an assembly manual together with the necessary tools, all included. Assembly was pretty easy, although more and better diagrams would be helpful to the describe assembly in the manual a little better. One of the nuts (½"-13) was missing, otherwise everything was complete. We are looking forward to using this bike rack on our different cars which have either 2" or 1-1'4" hitches. We also chose this rack because it holds the bikes by the tires instead of the frame - bike frames can vary vastly (one of our bikes is a recumbent). 728286

This hauler exceeded my expectations! Very well built...it’s solid! The 3” tires on our heavy ebikes fit perfectly in the channels. The straps & over-the-tire securing bar all keep the bikes free from any movement. The supplied thread-in locking hitch pin is completely eliminates any hitch sway...=awesome! The only issue I have is more situational: my Jeep Patriot hitch does not allow the rack to be tilted into the upright position. About an inch before completely vertical the rack catches on the bumper. So I will not be leaving the rack installed unless it is being used. Despite this issue, I am very happy with another purchase and great product from etrailer! 727739

I think this rack will be fine. Missing small screws, nuts and washers will set back the assembly date and bump into my departure for deer hunting - not good. 721820

An excellent bike rack. Safe, solid, strong, and good-looking. Strong enough to carry my wife's ebike along with my road bike. Reflectors on the back ends of the main frame help ensure it is noticed at night. Since I often leave the rack on my truck, folded with no bike on it, I added some stick-on reflectors on the bottom of the wheel trays. Don't make this mistake: I left the ratchet wheel straps loose when I had no bike on the rack. Result is I lost one of the loose pads that belongs on those straps. So always run the end of the strap into the clip, even if you're not carrying a bike. Kudos to etrailer for requesting this review a year after I bought the rack, instead of a week later like most e-retailers do. 717160

Customer service helped me pick out the right bike rack for my two 50 pound bikes. I have the Hollywood HR3000. My daughter and I took our bikes out for a ride, we had to go up and down a long bumpy gravel driveway the bikes stayed in place with little movement. I feel very confident hauling our bikes and feel that they are very secure when traveling. 676635

This fit perfectly on the back of my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK. The assembly instructions along with a YouTube video made putting it together pretty easy. I love the hinge pin lock and bike lock. Can’t wait to take the bikes on the road! 552905

We were able to assemble the bike rack without too much problem and so far really like it. The bikes fit on very well and we especially like the fact we can still open our SUV back hatch with bikes still on. We haven’t done a big road test yet but feel the rack is very stable. 615761

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

I had been researching platform bike carriers for a while and after comparing several i settled on the Hollywood Racks TRS SE, it seemed to fulfill all my requirements and at a great price from etrailer. I watched the installation and test course videos and promptly added it to my cart, shipping was fast and the rack arrived in good condition. Assembly was easy, although I did not time it, every thing went together seamlessly. I have a pickup truck and was hoping that I could open the tailgate while the bike rack was tilted down, no luck but it gives plenty of access to get in the canopy and bed anyway. We'll be hauling two 27+ mountain bikes with large (not fat) tires ant this rack accommodates them perfectly without needing to buy additional accessories. 597040

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

Read the reviews online and found they were correct when I purchased, received, and assembled this product. I am happy with its apparent sturdiness and quality. My only disappointment is that it doesn’t have a feature that would allow the mounted bikes to be swung down to allow rear hatch access when needed to get access to the interior of the vehicle from the back. Assembly was reasonably easy. I would suggest that the instructions specify that the bolts that attach the crates to the frame are supposed to hang loose in the long slot on the underside, but I think it might be easier to assemble if the carriage bolts had pre-drilled holes in the top side of the cradles that lined up with the holes in the frame. 656671

Comments
Actually, the rack is capable of being tilted rearward away from the vehicle while the bikes are in place, as shown in the video Ive linked for you. The geometry of the rear hatch opening and the nature of the bikes involved will dictate if the rear hatch of the vehicle will clear the bikes allowing full cargo area access, but on most vehicles the hatch will clear.

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased the 3500 model for a 2-inch hitch for my 2004 Toyota 4Runner. I've had it for a month now and it has worked well. It took just over an hour to assemble it and the instructions for the most part were easy to follow although it would behoove you to read it through once before you even start putting parts together. The rack has pretty much stayed on the vehicle for the past month and I use it two to three times a week to commute to work. The bike is on the rack for the 26 miles roundtrip to the ferry terminal and it hasn't given me any problems. Service and prompt delivery was much appreciated. I even noted that the link for installation instructions was broken and Anna responded immediately and I now see that it is there! One thing that my photos will show is that if you have a flat handlebar bike in the position closest to the vehicle the hatch may not fully open because the handlebar will prevent it. Not an issue with me since I use it for commuting and don't need to access the hatch. I think the price is worth it since I wanted this type of rack and it was difficult to find anything with this quality and features in the range. Four stars only because I've only had it for only a month so not sure how well it will hold up in the months to come. I also much appreciate the videos of the rack on the etrailer website. Thanks, etrailer! Arthur 483714

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

This is one well built thoughtfully engineered bike rack. How do I know.....this is the third brand I ordered. I returned the other two. I have a Grand Cherokee and two fat bikes. I wanted a rack that could tilt with bikes on board to allow the dog access to cargo space. This is easy to load, tilts by removing one pin, and very stable due to the hitch tightening system. Well done Hollywood!! 576266

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

My husband and I have been raving to each other about how the etrailer site was the best site we have ever visited and ordered from, the information given was more than thorough, the prices were good, the customer service was speedy and knowledgeable, the shipment came faster than expected. The bike rack was high quality, easy to put together, fits our vehicle as the etrailer rep said it would, the bikes are easy to load and tilt, and it all travels securely. The shipment came without the hitch and bike locks, but etrailer immediately contacted the Hollywood company who honored their part list and sent it in time for our trip. Two etrailer reps kept in contact with each other and us through it all. We are extremely satisfied all around and wish we had this experience with all other businesses! 529645

Review from a similar TRS in Hitch Bike Racks

This is our second Hollywood bicycle carrier. The first one is still in use as needed or loaned to friends. Our new carrier is for my wife's Subaru Outback mostly for our fat bikes and ease of use for her convenience. The carrier arrived in perfect shape and in a timely manner. Instructions were easy to follow and the tools included do an adequate job, although I used my wratchet set to speed things up. I took my time and still ackomlished the build in under an hour. This is a very sturdy unit made of nice materials and should last years. I don't know if I would have gotten any better product at twice the price. I had a very pleasant buying experience with etrailer and would recommend them to anyone. 512564

After almost a year and to be honest I havent given it much thought. Thats a good thing because it performs perfectly. It stays on the vehicle most of the time and is always ready to use. We live on a gravel road and no damage. Would buy another if needed if it were hit or stolen.

Since the sensors on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon are close to where the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 will be located you will likely need to disable them, but we haven't really tested the racks with sensors on our end as of yet (June 2019). As far as camera interference goes, since the arms of the TRS fold in between the trays it is pretty much guaranteed to limit your view if not block it completely. For a similar bike rack that gives you a better chance at using...

  • Will the Hollywood Racks TRS Work With Mountain Bikes That Have 29 Inch Wheels
I spoke with Hollywood Racks and they informed me that the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack part # HR3000 will work just fine with a mountain bike that has 29" wheels. It will also accommodate bikes with tires up to 5" wide which is a popular feature on mountain bikes. I have attached a photo of this rack used with a mountain bike that has larger wheels as well.

  • Best Value Platform Bike Rack Recommendation that is Rock Solid In Hitch
When it comes to stability on the road at a great value there is nobody out there that beats the Hollywood Racks bike racks. The Hollywood Rack TRS # HR3000 would be the winner by far. If you check out the review I attached below you'll see just how stable the hitch is. In the last portion of the video you can see the rack go over speed bumps as well. It's rock solid and an incredible value. I would recommend it easily for you. I attached a video for the Sittka 2 part # S64687 and it...

  • How to Secure a Bike on the Hollywood Racks TRS Hitch Bike Rack to Deter Theft
The Hollywood Racks TRS Bike Rack, # HR3000, does not include integrated locks on the ratcheting arms. Use a cable lock like # e98891 if you decide on the Hollywood Racks bike Rack.

  • Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica
As long as you have a hitch installed on your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica like the Draw Tite part # 76046 which is a 2 inch hitch or the part # 36798 which is a 1-1/4 inch the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 will fit and be a great option. This rack is a nearly impossible option to beat. Normally the platform bike racks like this that only touch the bikes at the tires are very expensive and very heavy. This has a great price and isn't quite as heavy at 52 lbs. It's also...

  • Platform Bike Rack that Has Weight Capacity for 53 lb E-Bike
The weight capacity for the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 that you referenced is 50 lbs per bike. The capacity is more than just for the overall capacity of the rack though. Each of the rails is only rated for 50 lbs so if you need more capacity this rack would not work. A similar rack that would work is the # SA4025F which has a capacity of 60 lbs per bike. This rack also much lighter at 30 lbs. This would be an ideal solution for you. Check out the review video...

  • Can the Hollywood Racks TRS Bike Rack be Used on a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500
Since the Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 is compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" trailer hitch receivers it should work just fine with your 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500. The only thing you will want to check is the clearance from the center of your hitch pin hole to the rearmost edge of your bumper. When the bike rack is folded up it measures 6-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. As long as you have at least this much clearance you will be able...

  • Is Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack a Good Value and Hitch for 2014 Nissan Murano
Hollywood Racks bike racks have the market cornered when it comes to bike rack value. You get a very rock solid bike rack at a very great price. For anybody wanting to get a lot of bike rack quality and not break the bank the Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 option is the way to go. The overall built quality and ease of use is top-notch and they are very solid and stable in the hitch they are installed in on the road. • Platform-Style Bike Rack Rated for Use Behind Towable Camper
I do have an option for you, however the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 that you referenced is also not rated for use behind a towable camper. The added movement and bounce that a bike rack has to withstand when mounted behind a trailer (as opposed to a standard passenger vehicle) is enough so that only certain bike racks are tested and approved for this application. For a platform-style bike rack that is approved for use behind your camper, I recommend the Swagman...

  • Does the Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 Have a 2-Bike Add-on
The Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 that you referenced does not have an extension for 2 bikes, but we do have some other options that you may be interested in. Among the options that we have I recommend going with the Swagman Semi 4.0 # S64698. It is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers and can carry 2 bikes. If you would like to carry 4 bikes you can either purchase the add-on # S64699 separately or you could just go ahead and get the full 4-bike version # S64698-99. The Swagman...

  • How to Use Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack on Jeep Wrangler With Large Spare Tire
There are great bike racks that will work for you, but since you mentioned the distance from the hitch to clear your spare tire is 17 inches you need to start with the 12" long MaxxTow Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches # MT70024. An extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch in half, though that won't be a problem because even if your hitch had a 350 lb tongue weight capacity that still leaves you with 175 lbs available for a bike rack and two bikes, which is more...

  • Recommended Bike Rack To Clear the Rear Spare Tire on a 2012 Toyota RAV4
The best way to make sure you don't have any issues with the rear spare tire on your 2012 Toyota RAV4 would be to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the spare tire. If this distance does not exceed 6-1/2" then I recommend the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack part # HR3000 which is a wheel mount bike rack so your deep drop tubes won't be an issue at all. This platform style will also be a ton easier to load your bikes onto. The Hollywood Racks...

  • Which is a Better Bike Rack Between the RockyMounts MonoRail and the Hollywood Racks TRS
Hollywood Racks makes a good bike rack. But with that said I am not impressed with the TRS # HR3000 or # HR3500. I find that the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10003 is the superior bike rack between the 2. I will say this about the TRS though; the hook design is compatible with bikes that wider forks compared to the MonoRail. The MonoRail is compatible with Class I hitches whereas the TRS is compatible with Class II only on the 1-1/4 inch side. Both are compatible with 2 inch hitches. All...

  • Hollywood Racks TRS Bike Rack and Lock for Fitting Both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch Hitches
Since you plan to use a bike rack in both a 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitch size the best option is the version of the Hollywood Racks TRS that fits both of these hitch sizes without needing an additional adapter. For that you'd want the part # HR3000 that you mentioned as well. This is designed to fit both hitch sizes and would be a great option. For a hitch and bike lock you'd then want the part # HRLHPTC and you'd be set. This comes with a cable lock to lock the bikes to the rack and...

Yes, the Horizontal Style 2 Bike Bag for Trailer Hitch Bike Racks # S82006 that you referenced will fit great on the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 as long as you are carrying the bikes behind a motorhome. Motorhomes are the only thing big enough to block the wind enough to prevent the bike rack cover from whipping around and damaging the bike surface.

There are more than 20 different platform racks that can fit tires that are 4-1/2 to 5 inches. But no worries because we have other bike racks that will accept a 48 inch wheelbase with no problem. The similar Swagman Escapee for 2 inch hitches only, # S64693, will accept up to a 51 inch wheelbase. I have linked a video review of this rack for you. • Will Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack Work with Fat Bike Tire with Slanted Frame
The Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack # TH912XTR referenced in your question is a nice, hanging-style rack that features dual arms to support the bike's frame. Since your bike's frame doesn't run in a straight line from the seat post to the handlebar post, you likely will just need an adapter bar like the Kuat # UB01. This will attach to the bike's frame and provide a horizontal attachment point so that it can ride level. The issue with your bike's frame is that it will cause the rear tire to hang...

  • Can Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack Support 49 Pound Bike
The Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2 that you referenced does have a 35 pound per bike limit. This means that even though the whole rack itself can technically handle the total weight of your two bikes, the individual cradles aren't designed to support the weight of your heavier 49 pound bike. I cannot recommend using this particular rack for your bikes. We actually only have one hanging-style bike rack available that's able to support this kind of single bike weight and it is...

Great questions! When I first saw the Hollywood Racks Rack Valet Rolling Storage Cart # HRRV-1 I had the same reaction, but when you see a bike rack installed it makes sense because the weight of the bike rack will actually be more towards the center due to the length of the shank. • Will the Kuat Transfer Bike Rack Hold Up Against Corrosion if Left Out in Rain Frequently
The Kuat Transfer is steel which means that it is susceptible to corrosion but only if the powder coating gets scraped off. If that happens then spraying some paint on it will help stop corrosion from starting. The Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 is made with both aluminum and steel parts. Aluminum is naturally corrosion resistant and the steel is powder coated so it is a good option around the same price as the Transfer. If you want a rack that is mostly aluminum I recommend the Kuat...

The same often goes for children's bikes. The Kuat Ubar Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 is an adapter bar that will help you. It connects from the seat post to the handlebar stem to create that horizontal mounting point to carry bikes level on a hanging rack. Another option is a...

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 1 # RKY10007 can carry 1 bike up to 60 pounds with tires up to 5 inches wide. The similar Rola Convoy # 59307 for 1-1/4 inch hitches, has a capacity of 50 pounds and takes bikes with up to 5 inch wide tires. • Replacement for Thule DoubleTrack Bike Rack That Does Not Work For Fat Tire Bikes
The Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack # TH990XT is a high-quality rack in a lot of ways, but a major drawback is that it does not offer the ability to hold bikes with fat tires, like you have had the bad luck to find out firsthand. There is also no kit that allows you to modify the rack to work with fat tires, and the reason why any type of modification will void the warranty is because if Thule or other rack manufacturers allowed any type of modifications and they didn't work,...

  • Should Tailgate Pad and Bike Carrier be Used With Carbon Fiber Bikes
The Yakima GateKeeper Tailgate Pad and Bike Carrier # Y07410 can be used with carbon fiber bikes because it has paddings and cradles that will secure the bike snugly to the pad. Having said that it is not the best option for the lighter and more pliable carbon frame bikes. If you are going a short distance and know you are going to be on totally smooth surfaces the GateKeeper will suffice, but the best option is going to be a hitch-mounted bike rack.
