Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Fat Bike Carrier and Cargo Basket

Finally, you no longer have to choose between carrying your bikes or your gear. This versatile rack combines a platform-style bike carrier with a cargo basket, giving you the ability to simultaneously transport 2 fat bikes with tires up to 5" wide and 100 lbs of gear with your 2" hitch. This means no more leaving that extra camping gear behind because you want to take your bikes along, and no more switching out your bike rack and cargo carrier for separate use.

Platform-Style Bike Rack

Sport Rider SE Platform-Style Fat Bike Rack

The Sport Rider SE consists of a 2 fat bike base unit and a cargo basket extension unit, allowing you to use the carrier as either a two-bike rack with the cargo basket, or as a stand-alone cargo basket.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

Sport Rider SE Frame Hooks

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Sport Rider SE uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning you can hold 2 bikes of the same or different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Holders

Sport Rider SE Fat Bike Wheel Holders

The wheel holders are wider than standard cradles and will hold tires up to 5" wide. These cradles slide up and down the horizontal arms to accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60", and they secure in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the cradles.

Heavy-Duty Cargo Carrier

Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Cargo Basket Dimensions

The cargo basket measures 52-1/2" long x 15-9/16" wide x 5-1/2" tall, giving you plenty of space to haul camping equipment or supplies. The raised side rails offer multiple tie-down points, and the included cargo net stretches over your gear to secure it in place. When used in conjuction with the bike rack, the cargo basket can carry up to 100 lbs of gear.

Hollywood Racks Sport Rider StandAlone Cargo Basket

The carrier can also function as a stand-alone cargo basket. Simply remove the 2-bike unit and replace it with the cargo carrier. Or, remove the bike rack completely and insert the basket into your vehicle's 2" hitch, using the included adapter. In either of these configurations, the cargo basket can carry up to 220 lbs of gear.

Folding, Tilting Design

Sport Rider SE Tilting Spring Pin

The bike rack and the cargo carrier tilt together, whether they're loaded or unloaded, for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Simply remove the pivot pin, pull the bottom quick-release spring pin, and lower the rack.

Sport Rider SE Folding Spring Pin

The entire rack also folds up against the back of your vehicle when it's not in use. To raise the rack, just pull the upper quick-release spring pin and lift.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The Sport Rider SE easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver and insert the hitch pin. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.

Sport Rider SE Easy Installation with Anti-Wobble Handle

An integrated anti-wobble handle on the front of the base unit tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver. You don't need to pull out a wrench every time you install the rack on your hitch - just turn the easy-to-access handle to keep the rack from rattling. A second lever secures the two-bike extension to the base of the rack.

The included 8' long cable attaches to the hitch pin to help secure the bikes to Sport Rider rack.

Add-On Adapters

Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or 18" wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.

If you want to transport 1 recumbent delta trike or 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Sport Rider SE, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately). Or if you want to transport 1 standard bike and either 1 recumbent delta trike, 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike, or 1 adult trike, then you can use the HRTRK-ADP-2 adapter (sold separately).

Note: The trike adapters can only be used with the Sport Rider SE's two-bike base unit.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2 Bike Fat Bike Platform Rack with Cargo Carrier Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE-2 Platform-Style Bike Rack for Fat Bikes with Cargo Carrier, part number HR1450Z-85-FB. This platform-style bike rack is going to allow you to carry fat bikes, standard bikes, and extra gear on the back of your vehicle. You're going to get a two-bike rack and a total of eight wheel cradles. Four wheel cradles are going allow you to carry fat tires up to five inches wide, and the other four are going allow you to carry standard tires up to three inches wide. Now you're also going to get a cargo carrier that'll allow you to carry 90 pounds of gear when attached to the bike rack, and 220 pounds of gear when used by itself. So as you can see, it's going to be the perfect setup for you and your two bikes, or you and a friend with some extra gear. Now if it turns out you've got a lot more gear than this stored in your rear hatch, you can get at that because the bike rack tilts away.

Now because we've got a lot of extra weight on my cargo carrier, you could say I've got the heavy generator there, it's a good idea to get an extra set of hands, so hopefully you've got that friend with you. What needs to happen is he needs to pick up on the rear end so we can remove that snapper pin, and then once that's removed, we can pull out on the quick release, and then lower it down. So as you can see, we've lowered down the carrier and our two bikes. That way, we can easily access that rear hatch, remove our cargo gear, groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. Now if you take a look at this here, I'd like to point out that depending on your vehicle or the bikes you may be carrying, you may get a little more, a little less room out of that rear hatch, so just keep that in mind. When you're all done, we can close up, we'll bring our buddy back in place and help us lift up.

Now it's going gonna auto latch itself here, so it's going to take a little bit of weight off. That way, you're not struggling to keep it up, and then we'll have to pick back up and reinsert that snapper pins. So not too bad, just as long as we've got an extra set of hands when we're carrying a lot more weight. Now of course, you could unload all of your cargo, and then it'd be a lot easier, but at least this way, we can leave our cargo in place and use that extra person. Now I've almost forgot to mention that the carrier does come with a cargo net.

This is going to help better contain our cargo. Anything we load up here, it's going to contour around that. As you can see, we've got a overstaffed bag here. We don't have to worry about that coming out when we're going over rough terrain or any bumps. Now, as far as my generator here, you can see the net is covering the generator, but I chose to add a strap just to help contain that because it's a little bit heavier. Now we've got plenty of straps here at etrailer.com, so go ahead and pick up your favorite strap.

So with that cargo removed, as you can see, it's a basket-style carrier. It's five inches deep, so we're going to be able to carry a wide variety of cargo. Now it does have a tubular design, so it's going to offer us multiple tie-down points for securing our gear. Now it also has an open design, as you can see, so I would recommend carrying larger gear on this. That way, that smaller gear doesn't just easily fall out. But with that being said, we don't have to worry about this basket collect any road grime, debris, or anything we might get while we're on the road. It's just going to be falling right through, it's going to be easy to clean. Now like I said, the nice thing about this basket is it can be used by itself giving us that higher weight capacity, but on that note, if we don't need the basket, we can easily take it off. What we do is we loosen up this lever back here, and what this does is it's going to reduce all that play when tightened up and attached to that bike rack, but to remove it, you'll need to undo it, and then we can remove that snapper pin here, and then it easily slides out. Now that way, it's less weight to carry, and we don't have to worry about it getting in the way when we're just riding or taking our two bikes out for the day. And instead of just leaving that open where dirt and debris and road grime can get inside, we can take our included cover and slip that over. Now it also features a reflector. That way, it's going to help us keep more visible at night. Now our bikes are secured by frame hooks. That frame hook puts down pressure on our top tube into the cradles, and then hook and loop straps keep our wheels in place. Now it's nice and solid, you can see that. You can even check out the test course footage that we have of this bike rack with the cargo carrier. Even for carrying fat bikes, which tend to be a bit on the heavy side, you can see how solid is, so definitely check that out. But when we hit the trails and we're ready to take off our bikes, we can quickly do that. Undo the hook and loop straps, raise up that hook, and we're good to go.Now these frame hooks are adjustable along the center mast. That way, they're going to work with bikes of different sizes. So it's not just strictly for adult bikes or bikes with larger frames. It's going to work with those women's bikes, children's bikes, and bikes with alternative frame styles. You can see here how they're adjustable, they move up and down. When our bikes are in place, it ratchets down, keeping our bikes in place. Now it's also rubber coated. That way, it won't harm or scratch that top tube. And when it's all said and done, our bike is secure, we can even lock those frame hooks. That way, no one can remove our bikes but us. Now down here at the base, all the cradles are adjustable along the platform to work with bikes of different wheel bases. They're very easy to interchange out as well. What you'll need is a Phillips head screwdriver. Remove that Phillips head screw from underneath. Then we can easily slide that off, set that in a safe place. And then if we want to carry two fat bikes, we would just change out the front cradles with the fat cradles.Slide that onto our desired spot, and then tighten it up and we're good to go. Then you want to remember to reinstall that screw, and it acts sort of as a lock. That way, we can't slide that cradle back off by accident. As you can see, it's loose here. By sliding it forward, it can't come off because that screw's in place. When it comes to removing that first bike, things can get a little bit tricky. As you can see, we don't have a whole lot of room between our bike rack and our vehicle. Now this could vary depending on your vehicle, but we still don't have enough room. The Hollywood racks gives us the option to remove the frame hooks. That way, it's a little bit easier. I'm going to go ahead and undo my hook and loop wheel straps. That way, it's ready to go when I take those off. So we'll need that Phillips head screwdriver again, and if I didn't mention it, you'll need to provide your own. Take that screw out here. Then we can just slide those off.Now I'm just going to hang them right here on my wheel cradles. So here, you can see they're gone, we can easily lift it up, and they're not in the way, but what we can do from here is fold that center mass down to the right, so we'll move that pin, fold it down, and now there's nothing in the way. Now if you'd like to, you can replace these frame hooks, or you can leave them off for next time. That way, you don't have to fumble around with getting them off when you're trying to load up that first bike. With that center mass folded down, we have no problem reopening that rear hatch. I'm going to stow them right back here. And to keep it locked in position, we can put in our pin right here. Now I'd like to point out something interesting about this pen. It doesn't use any clips to hold it in place on either side. It actually features a tab that when lined up with the notch here, we can put it through, and then turn it. That way, it cannot be removed. Now one thing that's overlooked when purchasing a bike rack is the shank rise. This one offers us about seven inches, so not only is it going to give us better ground clearance here at the very back for our two-bike rack and our cargo carrier, but it's going to give us some more comfortable loading height for when loading and securing our two bikes. Now with the way we've got the bike rack positioned here, we can keep it this way when of course we're hitting the trails, or when we're driving around town. If you'd like more clearance here at the very back, you could actually fold it up against your vehicle. We'll pull out on the pin here, and raise it up until it snaps in. You can see how much more compact it is. This is ideal for a park in your garage, or pulling into a tight parking spot. Now let's take a look at what makes this bike super secure and solid. It's actually the anti-rattle feature that's built in. So as you can see, I'm shaking the entire vehicle here. With everything tightened down, we'll give you a wide shot of what it looks like when it's all secure. Again, you can see I'm shaking the entire vehicle here. We can rest assured that our bikes are not going anywhere when we're on the road. Now this whole bike rack is made out of a sturdy steel construction. It gives us a weight capacity of 50 pounds per bike, it features a black powder coat finish, so it's gonna hold up to the elements. In my honest opinion, towards this bike rack is I would definitely recommend it to somebody. It gives us plenty of options. We've got the two-bike, we've got the two-bike plus the cargo carrier, and one thing I forgot to mention is instead of a cargo carrier, you can pick up a two-bike extension that plugs right into the back of that receiver, and then you can carry four bikes. Now before we forget, let's go ahead and give you a quick install of installing that cargo carrier into the receiver by itself. When installing the cargo carrier by itself, you want to take the included sleeve and we'll slide on where the smallest hole is first, just like that. We'll take the included pin and pass that through and clip it on the other side. From there, we'll need to come back to our anti rattle lever and tighten that up, and it's going to help reduce that play where we just slid on that sleeve. So tighten it up, make sure that it's horizontal, just like we talked about. Then we're ready to install it. Pass it through our receiver tube, line up our pinholes, and we can use that same included pin lock. Now it's important to know that this isn't going to be as sturdy as when your bike rack's installed, mainly because of how that sleeve mechanism works, but you're still going to get that higher weight capacity, 220 pounds worth of cargo, and you'll have the net to keep it all contained, so just keep that in mind when you're ready to hit it and load up your cargo. This is our test course. Let's start with the slalom. This shows side-to-side action such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting action such as hitting curbs, potholes, road or uneven pavement. And last of all, the solid speed bumps. This shows up and down action such as driving through a parking lot or parking garage, or driving in and out the driveway. And that's gonna complete our look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE-2 Platform-Style Bike Rack for Fat Bikes with Cargo Carrier, part number HR1450Z-85-FB.

This is an amazing cargo carrier, we bought this to be able to both carry bikes and firewood, for our trip to Alaska without having to put the firewood inside our new Expedition. I’m amazed at the quality, and the ease of use! I normally have my husband put together these types of things, he’s more mechanical, however I tackled this by myself and had it together in less than 10 minutes! I would most definitely recommend this product and etrailer for a future purchase! Thanks 655340

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Bought this Hollywood Sport Rider SE2 for 2 electric bikes, which are heavier than regular bikes. I am very impressed with the quality built into this rack. This design is a heavy-duty bike rack built to house the tires/wheels of the bikes and then a vertical rod with hooks to keep the bikes upright. This design is easier for loading heavy bikes than the racks that support a bike’s top bar, which requires a long, heavy lift. This rack is also easy to attach to the 2” trailer hitch receiver on our 2017 Ford C-Max Energi. 732973

Great product but tie straps are velcro and not attached. Works fine but thought its weird to have to keep track of tie straps. Easy to tie down E-bikes. Down side this can not be used on travel trailers! 724807

Excellent product. Small issue with releasing one of the hold down arms. Even with no pressure, release would not work. Found if I inserted the key, and jiggled, was then able to release. Have now used it twice and love it. 721210

This trike carrier has good features. I like that it has a lock for the connection to the hitch. Also the cable lock to secure my trike to the carrier and eliminate any possibility of theft. My standard adult trike fits it nicely. The frame is heavy duty. 159665

Assembly (solo) was easy. Purchased this heavier duty model because I have two electric bikes as well as a mountain bike. Liked the idea of the attachable basket. Have not tried out on long haul but so far so good. Very secure and sturdy. 485504

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

The rack holds our bikes rock steady. My only complaints are that is very heavy, and must removed from our Subaru Forester, or tailgate can't be opened. If that bother you, the rack is great. It's the ONLY rack that will carry a recumbent trike, and a road bike, on the back of a car. 203307

Comments
I still like the rack, though we got rid of the car with the hitch. We need to install a trailer hitch on the new car. My only complaints about the rack itself are that it is extremely heavy, and the recumbent portion of the rack makes it impossible to open the liftgate with rack in place.

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

4 stars, but should have been 5 stars. The item was shipped to me with the "no wobble" lever than runs through the main beam of the hitch basket turned 90 degrees so I was unable to push the pin through the welded loop on the end of the "no wobble" lever until I disassembled the "no wobble" lever. Dis-assemblying it was easy enough, but getting aligned in the main beam took a significant amount of time. Bottom line: What should have taken less than an hour to assemble and install (IMO) took almost 3.5 hours. Now that it is assembled and installed I think it is a pretty awesome product. 552387

Comments
Used the bike/basket combo to support a long distance vacation to haul two bicycles and two-five gallon gas cans. By the end of the trip the carrier beam beam outside the beam inside the hitch was drooping down. It appeared the metal within the beam had simply fatigued. I call and a replacement was made in short order at no cost. Like other poster, John, I did put reflective tape on the back end so others could see my hitch at night. Overall very satisfied with the product and would recommend it to anyone.

This is very well engineered. Lots of thought put into design. No wobble. We have an ebike & regular bike. We take the battery off the ebike when we transport the bikes. The rack folds up against the SUV when not in use. Very happy with this rack. 565795

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

It is definitely the best bike rack I've had to date, it has surpassed my expectations. I say that because I know some folks with platform racks that look great and are lighter, but are also much more expensive, but what sold me on this particular model is the fact that it is the only one (that I found) that comes with a cargo tray option. It took a little effort to assemble, but once it was ready to be hooked to my hitch, all I had to do was adjust the wheel holders to match the length of my bicycles thereafter, it was a breeze to load and unload them. On my latest camping trip, the additional room the cargo tray provided, eliminated the need to load all the camping gear inside my vehicle, I couldn't believe I was able to fit all that stuff on the cargo tray! A word of caution; At the time I got this rack and tray combo, my SUV was on the shop I could not wait to put it to use, so I hooked it to my tiny car, loaded with 2 bikes, the tray plus cargo and it got really heavy, and though it worked as intended, my little car was really low to the ground... For that reason I would definitely caution against using it fully loaded (as I did) on a subcompact car! :-) however, the bike rack alone works great on the tiny car! needless to say if I need to use the cargo tray with it, I definitely stick to my SUV! Overall and for the price, it really is an excellent product and I would highly recommend it! 681334

The rack arrived as advertised. Assembly was easy. The rack is well constructed and heavy duty. I'm very impressed. The only thing to watch out for is the height of your vehicle's hitch receiver. My Chevy Tahoe receiver is in the middle of the bumper. Once the rack is installed, the bikes are pretty high off the ground. This could be a challenge for some people lifting heavy E-bikes into place. I definitely recommend this product. 707514

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

etrailer.com had exactly the bike rack we needed in stock and at the best price. They expedited the shipping for a small extra expense and we received the bike rack just 2 days later. Everything was complete and in perfect condition. Assembly is a bit challenging because this is a combination of a regular 2 bike rack with an extension to replace one bike rack with a trike (tadpole) rack. So there are two sets of instructions, and you don't follow all of the steps in the first set. My advice is to find the video on youtube which takes you through it step by step. This is better than the written instructions. The rack is heavy but not unreasonably so. It is a two person operation to put it on the receiver hitch, but it is not difficult. Once installed, it is easy to put the bike and trike on the rack and clamp them down. The rack comes with a lock for the hitch, a locking cable for the bike/trike, and a lock on the clamp down on the center pole. All of the locks open with the same key. Four sets of keys were provided. I don't think we could have asked for more. 646584

I did a lot of research looking for the right bike rack that would hold 2 e bikes securely. The bikes have fenders, so a lot of the other brands wouldn't work where the hook grabs the front tire. This rack is great. Well built, solid and easily holds our 2 e bikes. Great features on the rack as well, tilt and no wobble, along with the locks and cable. Instructions were good and an easy project to put the rack together. Rack was shipped in a good protective box and arrived on time. 495795

Owned my Hollywood bike rack for a year now and hands down this is one solid unit.--has many adjustments for small and large bicycles .---The easy on and off clamps are failsafe.---The fold-up locking pins are a cinch while folding the rack into a smaller footprint.---- The included bike and hitch locks are a real plus and the built in hitch clamp removes 100% of rack sway. Overall a high quality rack for a real fair price.----Gordon Lehman 576997

Seems very sturdy and of high quality components. Easy to put together, about 30 minutes right out of the box and comes with its own set of locks. 576067

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

This might be somewhat premature, but if I don't write it now, I won't write one at all. I noticed there are many complaints about assembly instructions. I wonder if they recently got someone to rewrite these because, even though I'm not a genius, I thought they were some of the best instructions I have ever seen. The one trick I would recommend is to tear off the "Parts Included" sheet and place it side-by-side with the instructions because the instructions constantly refer to part numbers and the parts themselves are unlabeled - you need a quick reference. Uninitiated, it took me 30 minutes; if doing it a second time, it would take half that. As for quality and materials, parts are all snug and tight and properly aligned (as a rule, I am generally ready with my drill to "fix" all the items that fail to line up). If this was a car, I would call it excellent fit and finish. It is as heavy-duty as most buyers state and I expect it to last a very long time. All adjustable parts are readily adjustable and lock down very tight and secure. I really like the design, which seems very well thought-out. And this is from one who constantly grouses about why they hire such stupid people to design things. As of this writing, I am thrilled and 100% certain we made the right choice to carry my wife's 65 lb electric along with my own standard model. Happy trails! 198390

Product arrived quickly. I found it easy to assemble and mount on my 2014 Honda CR-V. It seems very sturdy and should do a fine job carrying my two mountain bikes. 389258

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Just purchased a Hollywood Sport Rider SE-2 From etrailer.com. Am quite pleased with the quality of the product , the easy assembly, and installation. Plan to use it to carry 2 bikes from home to wherever, did not want to carry in the bed of my pickup as did not want to damage bikes or truck bed. I am old guy and have no problem loading bikes by myself. And another plus is locking hitch and also locking cable for bikes. So easy, safe, and secure makes this product a great choice. Another great choice would be etrailor.com , The ease of navigating this site, ordering process helpful and caring staff is why I will order from this site again. Thanks etrailer.com 130476

  • Availability of Hitch-Mounted Cargo Carrier and Bike Rack for Fat Bikes
I may have an option for you, however there is not a fat bike version available of the Stromberg Carlson Bike Rack Adapter # CC-125 that you referenced. If you are looking for a cargo carrier and bike rack combination that WILL be compatible with the 4 inch tires on your fat bike, I recommend taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 # HR1450Z-85-FB. This unique carrier features a 2-bike platform rack that can secure fat bikes with tires of up to 5 inches wide, along with...

  • Rage Powersports Cargo Carrier/Bike Rack Compared to Hollywood Racks Cargo Carrier/Bike Rack
We stopped carrying Rage Powersports carriers before they released the Rage Powersports 3-Bicycle 60 Folding Cargo Carrier Basket Rack Combo that you referenced so we never had the chance to try it or review it although it does look like it has a pretty solid rating online. We do have a similar product that I think has a better bike rack option with the Hollywood Racks # HR1450Z-85-FB. The bike rack of this carrier is a platform bike rack that will hold the bikes in a much more stable and...

The inside dimensions of the basket on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes w/Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches part # HR1450Z-85-FB are 52-1/2" long x 15-9/16" wide x 5-1/2" deep. I have attached a diagram for your reference. We don't have any cargo boxes that would fit in the basket but you could use a lightweight tool box. I recommend to use DeeZee Specialty Series ATV Toolbox part # DZM206 which measures 35" long x 12" wide x 9" tall and only weighs 21 lbs....

  • Recommendation for Bike Rack and Cargo Carrier Combo for Trailer Hitch
Since you were wanting a similar platform bike rack and cargo carrier solution we have the Hollywood Racks part # HR1450Z-85-FB which gives you a bike rack that can have a cargo carrier attached to it or could attach directly to a trailer hitch to be just a cargo carrier as well. • Availability of Cargo Carrier Bike Rack Combo that Fits in Trailer Hitch
I have a similar situation that is exactly what you are looking for, but there isn't a way to use a bike rack before or after the Surco carrier part # 52018 so instead you'd want the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HR1450Z-85-FB which is a platform bike rack that has a cargo carrier that mounts behind it. You can also use it as either just a bike rack or just a cargo carrier as well. I attached a review video for more info on this as well.
