Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

This hitch-mounted bike rack lets you securely transport up to 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The anti-sway cradles securely hold your bikes during transport. Plus, the rack tilts away from your vehicle for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. This bike rack can be used with both 1-1/4" (Class II only) and 2" hitch receivers and comes with a stabilizer strap for added support.

Dual Folding Arms

Dual folding arms of the Curt bike rack

This rack's sturdy dual arms provide excellent support for your bikes. When you're not carrying bikes, simply remove the tethered bail pin to fold the arms down. This folding design allows you to leave the carrier mounted on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Curt bike rack anti-sway cradles

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps help to hold your bikes securely on the rack. The straps secure each bike frame to the cradles in 3 spots - 2 on the top tube and 1 on the downtube - to help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. And the cradles rotate to grab your bike frames at optimal angles. Grooves in the cradles keep your brake lines from getting twisted or pinched.

Tilting Mast for Easy Access to Cargo Area

Curt bike rack tilting

Getting into your rear cargo area is easy, even if the bike rack is loaded. Remove the pin and clip that hold the rack in the upright position. Then tilt the rack away from the vehicle for easy access into your cargo area.

Curt bike rack tilting

A horizontal bar built into the base of the rack keeps the mast from pivoting too far forward and holds it in place while you access your cargo area. When you're finished getting in your trunk, simply raise the mast back up and replace the pin and clip.

Anti-Wobble Hitch Pin and Adapter Sleeve

Threaded hitch pin and shank prevent rattle and wobble of the Curt bike rack

The included threaded hitch pin helps to keep the rack from moving and rattling around inside of your vehicle's hitch by pulling the shank tight to the side of the receiver.

Curt bike adapter sleeve installed

The included adapter sleeve lets you use this bike in a 1-1/4" or a 2" hitch receiver. To install the 2" adapter sleeve, simply bolt it to the bike rack's shank using the included hardware.

Stabilizing Strap Provides Support

Curt bike rack with stabilizing strap in use

The included stablizing strap provides added support by anchoring the rack to your vehicle. This helps to reduce unwanted movement of the rack while you drive. It also helps to take the load off your hitch, which is why the strap is required for use with Curt 1-1/4" (Class I and Class II) and some 2" (Class III) trailer hitches. The strap attaches to the upper center section of the bike rack, in between the dual arms, and to the trunk or rear window of your vehicle. The strap easily cinches tight to provide secure support while the rack is in use.

Tie-down rung on the mast of the Curt bike carrier

A built-in rung on the back of the upright mast provides an anchor point for a wheel and handlebar support strap or cable lock (each sold separately) to keep your bikes' handlebars and wheels from moving during transport. Simply thread the strap through the rung and through your bikes' wheels to immobilize them. You can also use a cable lock in conjunction with the strap to secure your bikes to the rack.

So far, the bike rack has worked perfect. Mounted on a 30ft. class-C motorhome with the 2" receiver hitch adapter. 654462

Good quality. Just be careful. Not a good fit for smaller women's bikes. You will need an adapter that gives a straight bar to hang on the rack. 799878

I purchased a Draw-Tite hitch receiver along with this Curt bike rack. Excellent combination. But I had a different purpose for them... they held a medical transport chair for a 4500 mile trip. Perfect! The video showing how to install the hitch receiver was excellent, too. Thanks, etrailer... great prices & great service! 451233

Still great! The bike rack and medical transport chair have traveled thousands of miles with NO problems.

Not very happy with the connection to the trailer hitch!!! The bicycle rack sways too much. I think the design is poor. I will be looking to purchase another bike that fits better into the trailer hitch. 555651

Thanks for your product review on your Curt Bike rack C18029, and if you are interested you may want to consider checking that allen bolts on the hitch adapter if you are using it in a 2 inch hitch and make sure that the hitch sleeve is properly secured. Another option would be to use one of our stabilizers like either the # RM-061
Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches
$27.56
for a 2 inch hitch or the # RM-061-125
Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches
$24.60
for an 1-1/4 inch hitch.

I wanted to review www.etrailer.com based on service and product not just the product. The reason why is simple, the service was AWESOME!!! I logged on after hearing about the site from a friend. Within a few minutes I had an order placed due to the selection being great, finding exactly what I was looking for AND the shipping was free. It was about 11:00ish PM Wednesday night when I clicked the last button to fire off the order. I had an email about 3 minutes later that the product was en route! I was astonished, but figured it was an automated notice and it wouldn't actually go out that night. Wrong! Friday, I had my product on the porch by noon via Fed Ex. The company is in North West Mo., I'm in South West TN. Less than 48 hours later, I was able to hitch up and take a bike for a ride in my truck. Wow!!! Flash forward a week. My buddy asked to borrow my bike rack but I had bought a different one than we had talked about. So, on Thursday night at about 10pm, he ordered one he needed with a bed instead of bike feature. Friday at noon, his doorbell rang with the Fed Ex delivery (he's a FedEx Express pilot by the way) with his delivery.....less than 18 hours. WOW. This company does it right. As for the Curt bike rack I bought, it is just what I needed, and it's sturdy. I was able to assemble and put on the hitch in about 15 minutes. I would suggest you have real tools instead of the ones in the kit as they are tinker toys. But the product was outstanding. If I need another trailer accessory of any kind, www.etrailer.com has my business!!! I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!! 612000

I previously bought a Curt four bike rack for my Outback. It is very sturdy and has tilt and stow features that make it handy when not in use but still attached to the vehicle. It was very easy to assemble. I especially like the anti-sway holders which better protect bike cables when in the cradle. I then bought a Curt 2 bike rack for my smaller car. Same deal; sturdy, easy assembly, etc. etrailer was very responsive with quick, and free, delivery and kept me informed throughout the process. Price point was also an added plus. Very pleased. 403002

The box arrived on time and was in good shape. All parts were in the box and assembly was easy. Three issues will cause me to return this unit for another. Hopefully the return process is painless and my new on arrives as this one did. 1. The adapter from 1 1/4" to 2" is plastic. In my opinion this should be metal. 2. this rack requires a strap with a plastic hook be placed in the seam of the door like a trunk mounted rack. I don't want a plastic hook scraping the paint off my Jeep. 3. the unit sways side to side at the hinge. I think the strap I meant to stop this. I think this movement will make the lifespan of that hinge very short. The verbiage in the assembly directions indicates that the warranty on the unit is void unless you use a strap. 699393

Install was medium difficulty doing it alone. But I can take my bikes anywhere now. 930911

Decent heavy duty construction but the plastic sleeve for 2" receivers is really disappointing. When mounted in the receiver, the whole rack had a ton of side-to-side movement. I ended up welding a legit 2" steel sleeve over the 1 1/4" receiver tube to make it sturdy. The vertical post still has an annoying amount of side-to-side sway even with the receiver locked in solid. Lastly, the rack arms are spaced too wide to accommodate a boys mountain bike with 26" wheels, though it does work off mount with additional ratchet straps (which I had to use anyway because the provided rubber straps did not feel trustworthy to me). Due to the extra work and additions to make this thing operable with peace of mind, I would not purchase again. 916744

Wrecked my wife’s bike first time using it. Very heavy, built like a tank. Lots of play both side to side and up/down. Perhaps need a bigger 2” adapter to take up some slack. Seemed trustworthy until less than a mile on the highway, her bike was starting to fall off. Before I could make a complete stop in the breakdown lane, her brand new $600 Trek fell off and got badly messed up. Had it fallen off 10 seconds earlier (or if I hadn’t noticed it looked funny in the mirror), it would have caused an accident for sure for the cars behind us. Wife in tears. I’m pissed. Their rubber straps do not work. That’s why I just now put some husky ratchet straps on as well to actually make it work without ruining your bike. 906847

by:

This rack is very sturdy for the price, but I absolutely hate that I have to use a strap to hook it to the trunk of my car. No contact with the body of my car was the ENTIRE reason I bought a hitch and a hitch-mounted bike rack. I am placing a bit of padding between the strap hook and the lip of my trunk to overcome this, but, well...I shouldn't have to. There is only a bit of sway - again, it's well built, especially for under $150. 904901

- C18029
by:

Very easy to assemble and install! Great quality product - the only thing I did not like about it was the fact that the bolt used for the hitch is not a common size - so if getting a hitch lock, you need to be aware of that. The one that works for this rack is at least double the cost as most others - so you need to factor that into the investment cost. But great product! 903531

- C18029
by:

The rack is generally ok but there is a lot of sway in the unit. Our bikes, a couple of which are quite expensive, have stayed fixed and not fallen off but it is not inspiring a lot of confidence. I bought a self sticking 1/8” rubber pad to fill the gaps in the connection to the hitch (also a Curt). It remains to be seen how that works; the hitch receiver is still wider and tends to get rough and rusty over time. So I think the patch will get worn. Not sure if I will need to just pony up and buy a Thule at some point. 903036

Couldn’t get the bikes to secure properly, one bike flew off on the freeway and got totaled. Looks secured, but the rubber straps are useless. etrailer was excellent with service though, ended up going with a swagman rack that I’ve used every weekend and works great. 870931

As I have used another Curt product in the past I was expecting to be very happy with this one but I was disappointed to find out that in order to use this product with a 1.25 inch hitch receiver I would be required to use a strap, included with the carrier, or the warranty for the hitch and carrier would be voided. This seems to negate the very reason for buying a hitch bike carrier if I have to use a strap which will probably damage the paint. I did not find all of this out until I had thrown away the box and assembled the carrier. I wish that Curt or etrailer had made this requirement known before I bought the carrier. I will probably try to sell this one at a loss and buy another one of another brand 822727

- C18029
by:

Easy to assemble. Seems to be good quality. Wish there was a way to lock the bike to the carrier. It looks like there is a place to put a cable through the carrier and the bike. I had a carrier before that the top closed on the bikes and locked. Still seems like a very good product. 822228

Setup was easy. A simple open end wrench and two allen wrenches were included, and would have been sufficient, but I used my ratchet and socket wrench instead. Installation on the SUV was also simple. All of the pieces needed were included, and fit well together. I have used the rack for a couple of short trips. A strap and hook were included, to secure/support the hitch to the vehicle, and instructions say the strap is *required* for use when the rack is used with a 1.25" hitch. The "hook" is flat steel, covered in plastic, so I don't think it will mar the finish where it attaches. The rack and bike sway a little more than I like when driving over uneven surfaces like gutters and speed bumps, and I plan to use a couple more straps, just because I like a "rock-solid" feel. Speaking of "solid", the component parts of this rack are all a lot heftier feeling than I expected, it doesn't feel flimsy or weak. Also, the rubber hold-down straps are very solid feeling. Overall I am very pleased, especially when I compare the cost of this unit to others I looked at at local shops. 820573

2” adapter allowed so much play in the rack that the bikes bounced so hard that the ladies crossbar adapter bent and a strap broke and the bikes came loose on a very busy interstate in Jackson, MS. One bike was dragging the road when other cars started flagging us down. Had to purchase a different rack that came with receiver tightening device. 818860

Bought the hitch and Curt 2 bike rack for my 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. I like the hitch because when installed, it is hardly noticeable because it is flush with the rear. I especially appreciate the detailed video of an installation. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same luck with the bike rack. The shank was missing from the box. I called and was told it would be shipped within 24 hours. It wasn't shipped for 4 days. It made it to me just in time for my departure on a long trip. Too much stress waiting for the missing part. 820361

As long as you had a hitch installed on your 2014 BMX X6 like the Curt part # 13077 which is a confirmed fit the Curt bike rack part # C18029 would fit and work well. For a tilting bike rack it's really hard to beat this rack for the money. If you were looking for something entry-level that will still get the job done this would be a really great option!

I do have a recommendation for you but I am not confident that the Curt rack, # C18029, will tilt down far enough to lower the tailgate on your 2007 Honda Element. But take a look at the Kuat Beta bike racks such as # B202-2 for 2 inch hitches or # B202-114 for 1-1/4 inch hitches. This racks tilt down much further so clearance for the tailgate won't be a problem. On your Element the 2 inch Draw-Tite hitch is # 75659. The 1-1/4 inch version is # 24720 (excludes SC models).

Whether or not you need to use a stabilizer strap with either Curt bike racks you mentioned part # C18030 or # C18029 depends on the hitch of the vehicle you have. If the hitch on your vehicle is made by Curt and requires the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 then you do need to use the strap. If not, then you do not need it.

  • Anti-Rattle Bolt for Curt Hitch Mount Bike Racks
If you have a Curt hitch mount bike rack for Class I and Class II 1-1/4" trailer hitches like part # C18029, then you can use the Curt Anti-Rattle Kit, # F-315. If you have a Curt hitch mount bike rack for Class III or IV 2 inch trailer hitches like part # C18065, then you can use the Curt Anti-Rattle Kit, # C22321, but you won't need the shank insert because the shank already has a threaded insert. I've attached a review video of each anti-rattle kit for you to check out.

  • Carrying Bikes While Also Flat Towing a Vehicle Behind a Motorhome
I do have a solution for you but the RV bumper rack # S80605 would interfere with flat towing a vehicle (especially when turning). You will need to use a dual receiver, # RM-077-2, to be able to both flat tow the Jeep Liberty and carry a hitch mount bike rack. You could then use a bike rack such as # C18029 for a hanging rack or # LGA54FR for a wheel mount and be good to go! I have linked videos of both bike racks for you.

  • Best Way to Carry Bikes on a 1996 Buick Park Avenue
I do have bike rack options available for you but none of our trunk mounted options will allow you to open the trunk with the bike rack attached. This has to do with both the weight of the rack and interference with the vehicle. Instead you will want to consider adding a trailer hitch and using a hitch mounted bike rack. For this, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12049 and the Curt 2 Bike Rack part # C18029. This option will allow you to carry up to two bikes...

  • Bike Rack and Anti-Theft Solution for Use with Draw Tite Hitch 75237 on 2009 Toyota Sienna
Since the Curt bike rack part # C18029 comes with a threaded hitch pin bolt there isn't a way to use the J-pin # 63201 with it. That being said we have found that the anti-rattle lock # SR0901 is a fit for the threads of the Curt bike racks so this would be the way to go. The Rhino Rack part # RRRBC045 is a great option as well. This would work great with the Draw Tite hitch part # 75237 that you mentioned as well.

  • Why is the Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack # RRRBC045 Not Compatible with a Motorhome
Since the rear axle is located much further away from the trailer hitch on a motorhome as opposed to a passenger vehicle some bike rack manufacturers have said that certain bike racks are not compatible. This is due to the extra movement and stress caused by the further distance from the axle. If you really like the Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack # RRRBC045 but want to use it on a motorhome then I recommend taking a look at the popular Thule Roadway # TH912XTR. This has the same tilting and...

  • Best Trailer Hitch for a 2016 Ford C-Max to Carry Bikes
While I do have a solution for you, we do not currently offer any 2 inch trailer hitch receivers for your 2016 Ford C-Max. Our best option is the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch # C12092 because it is rated for heavier towing than a Class I hitch is. If you were to tow something other than a bike rack, you won't have as many restrictions with a Class II hitch. Since we only offer 1-1/4 inch hitches, you will have to use an adapter, like the MaxxTow Adapter # MT70032, to be able to carry...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 2001 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo
The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24679 is a confirmed fit for the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle both with and without turbos. You will need to do some minor drilling in addition to modifying the heat shield in order for you to install this item. For a hitch mounted bike rack, I recommend using the Curt 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" part # C18029 as this bike rack will tilt downward to allow for easy access to the rear cargo area. I have also included a list of all our 1-1/4"...

  • Can I Open the Rear Hatch of a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek with a Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack Installed
I may have a solution for you, but you're not going to be able to open the rear hatch of your 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV with the Thule Passage # TH910XT while bikes are attached since the added weight of the bikes would likely damage the hinges/shocks on the gate. I'll also add that after opening the hatch while the rack is attached without bikes installed, you'll want to re-tighten everything just to make sure nothing became loose during the process. If you've got a trailer hitch on...

  • Bike Rack To Carry 2 Bikes On 2015 Honda CR-V on Long Trip
The Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 3 Bike Rack for Vehicles w/ Spoilers part # HRF2-3 is a good option to carry the bikes without damaging the vehicle. Hollywood racks are quality racks so I do not see you having an issue going a long distance. What I am concerned about is the usability and inconvenience factor of taking a long trip with a trunk mount bike rack. The trunk mount racks limit access to your cargo area, so every time you need something from the back of the vehicle you will need...

  • Recommendation on a Bike Rack to Carry One Bike on a 2007 Kia Spectra5
We carry both hitch and truck mounted bike racks that will work on your 2007 Kia Spectra 5. If you have a hitch on your Kia, then I recommend the Curt 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 and 2 Inch Hitches, # C18029. The bike rack can carry up to two bikes with a total weight of 90 lbs. The bike rack uses large anti-sway cradles to prevent bike-to bike contact. For a trunk mounted rack, I like the Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 Bike Carrier, # HRF6-2. This rack can carry up to two bikes with a weight...

  • Is There Access to Rear Cargo Area With Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Rack on 2008 Acura MDX?
When using a trunk-mounted bike rack such as the Yakima Halfback 2, # Y02636, the back tailgate on your 2008 Acura MDX will need to remain closed when the rack is on. If access to your rear storage area is something you value, there are still options available. One of those is the SeaSucker Hornet Rear Window Bike Rack, # 298-BH1302, a one-bike rack that uses vacuum cups to attach to the rear window of your MDX and has a weight capacity of 35 lbs. The Hornet secures the bike via ratcheting...

  • Fit of Thule TH88VR Gateway Pro Trunk Mount Bike Rack on 2013 Honda Fit
Thule confirms that their Gateway # TH88VR trunk mounted bike rack is compatible with a 2013 Honda Fit, as long as it's not the Sport model. This is because the majority of the weight of the rack and bikes will be carried by the foot of the carrier which sits atop the vehicle bumper, so the spoiler area will bear very little weight. This being said, I'll typically recommend folks go with a hitch mounted solution versus a trunk/hatch mount if the option is available. A hitch mounted rack...
