Video Transcript for Tow Ready Hitch Ball 63845 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a 2 inch hitch ball from Draw-Tite. Now a hitch ball installs onto a ball mount and provides a connection point for your trailer's coupler. This ball is made from a durable steel construction with corrosion resistant chrome finishing. It does come with your lock washer and the nut, so those are included. Also, you'll notice on the sides here it has wrench flats, which allows for an easier installation. You can use a 1 7/8 inch wrench here at the flats to get it installed and tightened down correctly. Now the ball diameter is a 2 inch ball.

It has the weight capacity engraved right there on it. That's 7,500 pounds. When it comes to the dimensions of the shank, starting with the diameter that measures 1 inch in diameter. The overall shank length is 2 1/8 inch long. This is designed to fit a draw thickness of 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick.

The nut size is 1 1/2 inch. The torque rating on the nut is 250 foot pounds. You can find that printed on the materials that comes with the unit. Again, weight capacity 7,500 pounds. Ball diameter 2 inch.

And it's covered with a lifetime warranty. So when you install this onto your draw bar, you place it through the hole in the ball mount. On the underside of the draw bar, you place on the lock washer followed by the nut. Then you start getting everything tight and secure. And then finish your install by achieving the proper torque rating specified in the instructions. That's going to do it for today's look at the 2 inch hitch ball from Draw-Tite..

One of many products I have purchased from eTrailer. etrailer shiped my order the same day ordered. They answered all my questions to assure I purchased the appropiate item and provided info on how to install (torque) this item. I am always impressed by all aspects of etrailer operations, quality of service and products. Also their prices are highly competitive. 566308

Locks on Tight! Be sure to check your trailer height once hooked before tightening the nut. If you need to turn the ball mount over it is a bear to get the nut loose because of the lock washer. 567020

I run a small camper dealership, Road Trip Camping, that specializes in small, compact, and lightweight little campers that can be towed by one's existing vehicle. I have been using etrailer.com for over a year now and am very happy with their service. Not only do they typically have anything I ever need, but they are very informed about their products and how to install them. Just a quick call to them, and I get all the answers I need. They are extremely good about product knowledge and customer service. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for trailer products and accessories. 290250

I installed the Curt trailer hitch on my 2013 Acura RDX. Installation was simple. After sliding the hitch into position, I set a bucket under the center of the hitch and that held it up while installing the bolts. Since my car is not new, I cleaned the threads with a nylon brush and penetrating oil. After inserting the bolts and nuts, I torqued each type to the specified ft-lbs with my torque wrench. No problems; the installation was done in less than an hour. I also installed the Curt wiring harness. The connector is on the left side of my 2013 RDX under the removable panel and forward of it. I did not take out any additional panels but fed the wiring under the panel and along into the spare tire compartment. To protect that wiring from chafe, I put in in a plastic wiring split tube purchased elsewhere. I disconnected that battery as suggested which meant that I had to restart my navigation system when the job was done (easy to do); this did not lose any of the items in memory. There was no fuse in the slot for the trailer in the fuse box under the hood so I used a spare 20A in that slot. Total time less than an hour. 423682

Great products and service. I was able to order everything I needed to add a tow hitch and ball to my 2006 Jeep liberty. Very fast shipping. They even called me to verify orders and availability. Clear and easy to follow installation instructions. I hauled an U-Haul trailer from Texas to Ohio without any issues. Even bought a trailer and use it frequently for hardware stoe runs. 347101

Thank you for such prompt service. I put this on my Polaris 570 mid size Ranger. The problem was a normal hitch was under the bed and a 2 inch rise was a bit too low for a level trailer. This fixed the problem moving the ball out further and higher. Much easier to hook up. I would recommend your company to others. 483723

Purchased a can of BP Blaster penetrating spray the day after I ordered the parts. I sprayed the weld nuts several times while waiting for the parts to arrive and it seemed to help loosen them up. My order arrived on time and I installed the hitch the next morning. I installed the hitch by myself ( I'm 67 years old), and while I admit that an extra set of hands would have been very helpful, the install was easier than I anticipated. I had all the parts I needed, the instructions were easy to follow and the online video was very helpful. I purchased the hitch in order to tow a trailer with a ton of wood pellets, instead of getting 1/2 a ton at a time (the capacity of my truck). Hopefully these products will solve my problem, only time will tell. 392665

My order arrived in 4 days and consisted of the Draw-rite max-frame class lll trailer hitch receiver custom fit for my 2015 Subaru Outback All items were in good condition upon arrival. I followed the installation instructions as written and had the hitch completed in 1 hr and another 20 minutes for the wiring harness. I would recommend E-trailer and their products to any diy. To Whom it May Concern: I highly recommend etrailer.com com. I ordered a trailer hitch and bike rack by phone. The sales agent was professional, competent, helpful and friendly. The prices of the products are fair and the delivery was timely and arrived in good condition. It is rare to have a purchase experience of the level of high quality that I experienced with etrailer.com. I am highly recommending this company to others, based on my first experience with them, and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. 4 stars out of 4. Thank you. Ask the Experts about this Tow Ready Hitch Ball
Do you have a question about this Hitch Ball?

  • Is a 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch Ball a Standard Size for a Hitch Ball
  • 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch diameter balls are pretty standard sized balls, it is not surprising that the coupler on the 1997 Coleman camper accepts either one of those sizes. For a 2 inch ball I would recommend a Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, part # 19247. If you need a ball mount as well I would recommend a Ball Mount 2-3/4 inch Rise or 4 inch Drop, part # 2753.

  • Does a Trailer have to be towed Level or Can it be Off Up or Down
  • If the trailer is less than 1 inch off of being perfectly level either up or down then it will be perfectly fine. Having it slightly higher would be better because presumably the tongue weight of the trailer will pull it down a little. You could also look into different ball mounts with different rise or drop specs. I have included a link to our ball mount main page for you. Tongue weight on a trailer is usually 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. But it can be less on a boat...

  • What Does GTW and TW Mean and What is Weight Distribution, 2008 BMW X5
  • I can certainly help you out. The TW is the tongue weight. This is the weight of the trailer at the coupler that attaches to the ball mount on the trailer hitch. It should be 10 to 15 percent of the GTW or gross trailer weight. The gross trailer weight is the total weight of the trailer. Weight distribution is a system that installs on the trailer frame and the trailer couples to a special shank on the trailer hitch. The spring bars that come with a weight distribution system take some...

  • Should Hitch Ball Angle Be Adjusted Up and Down or Angled to the Rear Using Weight Distribution
  • The hitch ball angle adjustment on weight distribution systems is designed to provide more or less distribution of the tongue weight on your trailer hitch to the trailer and vehicle axles. If you adjust the ball angle farther away from the towing vehicle, you will angle the weight distribution spring bars down toward the ground and that will distribute more weight. Angling the ball forward towards the towing vehicle puts less angle on the spring bars and therefore less weight is distributed. We...

  • As you can see by the photo I have edited for you, the Draw-Tite and Curt hitches available for your Odyssey are all pretty similarly designed. When we installed both hitches on a 2013 Odyssey, we found that the Curt # C13068 had about a 1/2 inch greater ground clearance (12-1/2 inches) versus 12 inches for the Draw-Tite # 75270 models. The receiver of the Draw-Tite hitches are recessed a bit more under the vehicle, but neither of the hitches will extend past the bumper, and therefore...

  • How to Increase Height of Trailer Hitch Ball to Allow Boat Trailer to be Towed Level
  • Ideally a hitched trailer will be level to the ground. We often recommend starting off with the hitch ball being a bit higher - an inch or so - than the top of the coupler on the level trailer since once hitched there will be a degree of squat in the rear of the tow vehicle from the trailer tongue weight. This is perfectly acceptable. You can select a different ball mount for your hitch that gives you additional height (rise) by using the link provided at right. For example, if you want...

Next, there is a formula you can use to determine the best place for your axles. • I looked up the Shelby 5133 coupler and it said it uses a 2 inch hitch ball. You also need to get the right ball shank diameter and ball shank length. The ball mount determines the diameter and length. If you measure the hole size diameter in your ball mount, that gives you the ball shank diameter, there is a 3/4 inch, 1 inch and 1-1/4 inches diameter available. You need to measure the thickness of the ball mount to determine the ball shank length. Short length is less than 2 inches....

  • Trailer Hitch and Related Items Needed to Tow Pop-Up Camper with 2015 Toyota RAV4 EXL
  • Two sizes and classes of hitch are offered for your 2015 Toyota RAV4, a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class II and a 2-inch Class III. Since you're going to be towing I strongly recommend the higher-capacity Class III type, such as the Draw-Tite # 75235 that you referenced. This hitch bolts on with no drilling, includes the hardware and fits all RAV4 models. I have linked an installation video showing your same model year RAV4, the written instructions and two helpful articles on hitch installation. Towing...

  • How Tall is 2 Inch Diameter Hitch Ball Part # 19247
  • The ball measures 2-3/4 inches from the ball mount surface to the top of the ball. I am glad to see that you are making sure you get the proper ball mount for your tow set up. The rule of thumb is to be no more than 2 inches over or under. The easiest way to calculate this is to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver just like you did, then measure from the ground to the bottom edge of the coupler where it would be about flush with the ball mount. I would...

  • Trailer Towing Setup Recommendation for 2014 Buick Enclave
  • You are on the right track! The Draw Tite hitch part # 75528 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Buick Enclave as well as the trailer wiring kit # 118270. The wiring mount part # 18144 will also give you a place to mount the 4-way that bolts to the bumper. The ball mount part # C45036 that you referenced is would also work well if you need 2 inch drop. I attached a help article that details how to pick out a ball mount drop as well.

  • What Is The Puropse of Tow/Haul Button on a 2014 Ford Explorer
  • According to the owner's manual, when activated by pressing the button, the Tow/Haul feature improves transmission operation by changing the shift points so that upshifts are delayed to keep the engine operating higher in its power band when the transmission shifts. When the transmission is on OD (overdrive) having the Tow/Haul mode 'on' will provide engine braking in all gears, which is useful for when you're descending hills. I've driven vehicles previously that have had this feature,...

  • Equipment Needed to Tow 3000 lb Travel Trailer With 2011 Honda Pilot
  • To the best of my knowledge, the 2011 Honda Pilot came from the factory with a Class III receiver. 4WD vehicles have a 4500 lb towing capacity but from what I understand, the towing capacity of the vehicle decreases as the number of passengers in the vehicle increases. Honda also expressly mentions that weight distribution systems should not be used with their vehicles. You will want to confirm this by reading your owners manual or consulting Honda. Be sure that the fully loaded and ready...
