Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - 19260 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball from Draw-Tite.Now, this hitch ball installs onto a ball mount, and provides a connection point for your trailer's coupler. It's made from a durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant chrome finishing. It does come with your lock washer and the nuts. Both of those are included. The wrench flats here on the side of the ball allow for an easier installation. You can use a 1-5/8" wrench here at the flats to make installation easier and get everything tightened as needed.Again, the ball diameter is 1-7/8".

Weight capacity is engraved right there on the top of the ball. It's 2,000 pounds. When it comes to the shank, the diameter measures 1". The shank length measures 2-1/8". This is designed to fit a draw bar thickness of 1/2" to 1".

The nut is 1-1/2". Torque rating on the nut is 250 foot-pounds, and the product's covered with a limited lifetime warranty. When installing this, you place this through the ball hole on the draw bar. On the underside of the draw bar, you place on your lock washer, followed by the nut. You want to get everything tight and secure, so once you have it hand tight, you can finish the tightening process using a socket wrench and wrench. Then you want to get it to the proper torque rating as specified in the instructions. That's going to do it for today's look at the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball from Draw-Tite..

Sorry I did not write back sooner, it’s has been a busy October. I really like everything that I bought. So far I have only used the hitch for my bike rack. But I am planning on using a friends trailer for some yard work and home project jobs. I am a welder by trade and everything is well built and as expected, no issues with anything. I especially like how easy the electrical was to connect to the factory harness. My friend who owns the trailer recently bought another truck and with my recommendation he also purchased a trailer hitch and the other parts he needed from etrailer.com. I have recommended etrailer.com to literally everyone I know. I really like the products and will be a return customer.

I went from having a package delivered to my front doorstep, to hauling gear in no time with my latest order placed with etrailer.com. Before I could go out and purchase a new kayak trailer, first I needed to obtain several products which were absolutely essential in regards to allowing me to actually go out and follow through with my impending buy. From etrailer.com, I purchased a Curt T-Connecter Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connection for my 2015 Subaru Forester, a 2" Curt Ball Mount, and a 1-7/8" Diameter and Medium Shank Hitch Ball. I found ordering online from etrailer.com to be a breeze, with relatively minimum effort having to be put forth when doing so. Everything I needed was simple and easy to find, which overall made my shopping experience all the more better. Surprisingly after ordering, I was notified that my shipping option chosen had been upgraded, and that I would be receiving my goods sooner, rather than later. This was unexpected, though great news indeed! Within days as promised, my package arrived and I was eager to get to work installing all three parts. The Ball Mount & Hitch Ball required the smallest amount of effort obviously which was good, especially more so, since I was really looking forward to the tackling the wiring harness installation foremost. Online, the specific product page for the wiring harness, featured a short video detailing the complete job from start-to-finish for those doing the work themselves. The video was clear, concise, and done in such a simple manner that success was pretty much guaranteed. I opted myself to Velcro the wiring harness converter to inside rear panel, instead of using the included two-sided adhesive. When finished, you would not believe how clean the entire job looked when completed. As though it was done by a true automotive professional! Before I knew it, I was on the road, and with trailer in tow behind me off looking for some adventurous fun. Thanks etrailer.com! I couldn't be more happy, and satisfied with my recent purchases from etrailer.com, than what I am. Dealing with the company has been a real pleasure from top to bottom. I would most certainly recommend them and their products to anyone I know. 277325

Exactly what I was looking for and arrived so quickly. This is a good quality towball, clean thread and nut fits well, the ball surface is excellent quality. The long shank makes it easy to get threaded on the heavier class 3 hitch bar. I had a 2" ball for my truck but needed the smaller 1 7/8" ball for my light trailer and this fits the same hitch without any problem. Now I can just swap out the balls depending on what I'm towing. 469442

Great trailer hitch, receiver and ball. Installed as promised. Very easy! Recently put it to the "test" by towing a full 6' x 12' rental trailer. Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Hitch Ball
Do you have a question about this Hitch Ball?

  • What Does GTW and TW Mean and What is Weight Distribution, 2008 BMW X5
  • I can certainly help you out. The TW is the tongue weight. This is the weight of the trailer at the coupler that attaches to the ball mount on the trailer hitch. It should be 10 to 15 percent of the GTW or gross trailer weight. The gross trailer weight is the total weight of the trailer. Weight distribution is a system that installs on the trailer frame and the trailer couples to a special shank on the trailer hitch. The spring bars that come with a weight distribution system take some...

The Tow Ready 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19260, would be a great fit for your application, as it features a 1 inch diameter shank that should be compatible with your ball mount. • Can a 1-7/8 inch Ball be Used to Replace a 2 inch Ball on a Trailer that is Hard to Unhook
  • No, it is not safe to use a 1-7/8 inch ball with a trailer that has a 2 inch ball coupler. Most couplers have an adjustment for the latching mechanism that may solve your issue. If you are hooking and unhooking on a surface that is not level, normally uphill or downhill, this too can cause the issue you have explained. If you can attach and un hook on a more level surface there will not be as much pressure between the hitch ball and coupler and the process will be much easier. If...

For example, the 4-door Sport with 3.7L V6 and all-wheel-drive 6-speed transmission has a maximum tow rating of 3500-lbs, while other versions including the Touring 4-door are limited to 2000-lbs. The best way to determine your towing capacity would be to check the owners manual of your vehicle or contact a Mazda dealer with your VIN and they should be able to tell you the options...

  • Will Installing Draw-Tite # 75684 on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Prevent Lowering of Spare Tire
  • As you can see in the provided photo, installing the Draw-Tite Class III receiver on your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe will somewhat obstruct the spare tire. You will still be able to deploy the spare tire if while lowering it, you push the edge of the tire toward the front of the vehicle until it clears the hitch. The hitch on my wifes van is obstructed in exactly the same manner, and I can tell you from experience that getting the spare lowered is no big deal. If you were planning...

  • What Is The Difference Between Curt Trailer Hitch # 13084 and # 13160
  • The only difference between the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13084 and the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13160, is the shape of the tubing. Curt Trailer Hitch # 13084 has a square-tube design while the Curt Hitch # 13160 has a round-tube design. The square-tube hitch will be more visible on the back of your Jeep while the round-tube hitch will be tucked up just a little more. The round-tube hitch is designed to be a more sleek design. Both the Curt Hitch # 13084 and # 13160 have the same towing and...

  • Trailer Hitch-Ball Mount-Ball and Safety Chain for Towing a Camper Trailer with a 2001 Tacoma
  • The replacement safety chain you will need depends on the weight of your camper trailer. The 48 inch long safety chain, # 2114-553-04, would be a good choice as long as the loaded gross weight of your trailer does not exceed 6,000 lbs. and you use the safety chain as 2 chains. If the clevis style hooks will not work on your vehicle, that S-hooks on the safety chains mentioned should work well. If you are worried about the chains coming loose, you could use a quick link, # 6590-044-04,...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350 Blue TEC
  • Curt classifies the difficulty level of the installation as 'moderate'. They tell me that a professional installer should be able to complete the installation in roughly 40 minutes to an hour. For a do-it-yourselfer, the install time will depend on you mechanical ability. To determine if the install is something you would feel comfortable attempting, take a look at the install instructions that I have linked for you. None of our suppliers offer a trailer wiring harness that is compatible...

  • Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer With a 2010 Honda Odyssey
  • By all means, take your children camping! I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2010 Honda Odyssey and it looks like the maximum total trailer weight (the weight of your loaded trailer) you Odyssey can tow is going to depend on the number of occupants. According to the manual, the number of occupants is calculated at 150 lbs per person, so take that into account, though it seems likely your Odyssey will still have enough capacity for a 2,300 lb trailer, just be mindful of the amount...

  • How to Determine Towing Capacity for a Hitch on a 2005 Dodge Dakota 2WD Quad Cab
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch, item # 13229, is designed and tested for fit and capacity, likewise the Dodge Dakota and Mitsubishi Raider have their own towing capacity ratings for the vehicle and bumper. In your case the vehicle attachment point is rated for 2,000 pounds capacity so that will be the maximum rating for your vehicle with the bumper mounted option. You always have to go by the lowest rated item in the towing system for maximum capacity. If you need more capacity than the bumper...
