Colin: Hey guys, Colin here at etrailer. Today, I'm going to take some time to show you guys the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for any hitch mounted accessory that you might have. There's going to be three different sizes, we have all three of them set up. We have our inch and a quarter over there on our sedan, we have our two inch receiver on our half-ton pickup, and then we have our two and a half inch receiver on our three-quarter-ton pickup. We'll start by looking at the one on our two and a half inch receiver. They're all going to work the same, but they are different sizes.
We just wanted to give you a good look so you can match what's going to work with your vehicle. Now basically all it is, is a wedge on the outside of the bracket right here. This goes over the shank of your hitch accessory, whether it's a ball mount, bike rack, or even a cargo carrier, then the wedge just goes inside your hitch receiver a little bit. If you have trouble getting it in there, you can use a rubber mallet, just softly tap it in there. And then once you tighten up the Allen bolt on the top right here, and there's another one on the bottom side, that's just going to take away any rattling inside your hitch. We all know with these nice Gen-Y ball mounts and any other ball mount or cargo carriers you might use, they won't come with anti-rattle bolts.
So this is a nice and simple solution to take out that rattling, so you don't have to hear it while you're traveling. One thing I do want to point out is that if you're planning on using a two-inch shank, whether it be a ball mount or a cargo carrier on your two and a half inch hitch receiver, then this will not work that application. Because you do have to use that adapter sleeve to convert it from a two and a half inch receiver down to a two inch. And the one for the two and a half inch hitch sits over two and a half inch shanks, it's not small enough to fit over a two inch shank. Now over here, you can see with our two inch receiver, it's just a little bit smaller fits over our ball mount very nicely, and just wedges in there. Again, we'll shake it and show you it's really not moving at all.Now we're over here on our inch and a quarter receiver which is our standard ball mount, it's very small.
Sometimes with these inch and a quarters, it may be tough to get it in there. But like I said, if you needed a rubber mallet or something just to tap it in, you can do so. But as you can see again, no rattle in the hitch. Now, what I can do for you is go ahead and loosen this up so that you can see what that ball mount does without the anti-rattle clamp. So we'll just go ahead and loosen it.
So we got it loosened like that, now you can see a lot of play in there and it might not be noticeable when you're not towing anything. But honestly, I have done some towing with this Passat right here and virtually anything you put on is going to move the car around just because it's not built for towing anything too heavy. So anytime I stop or accelerate I can hear it go back and forth, and side to side when I'm turning. They're all going to have a really nice, durable steel construction, so it's going to last a long time and be very durable. And it's got a black powder coat finish, which helps it resist rust and corrosion. So if he leaves your ball mount or other accessory installed in your hitch for long periods of time, it'll do well through the elements. Now, it's very easy to install. Just grab your accessory you're going to mount into your hitch and then grab your sleeve, we'll slide that over the shank of our receiver. If you need to loosen up those bolts a little bit, go ahead and do so, so that it'll fit over the shank. So now we'll take our accessory, in this case our ball mount, and feed it into our hitch receiver. Now we'll just insert our pin and get the clip on there as well. Now from here, what we're going to do is, see how the wedge is on the left side and the top We're going to push down and pull our shank to the right, so that we can get the wedge inside our hitch receiver. Once you get it in there, you can hand tighten the Allen bolts right there and then grab the included tool. And tighten it up the rest of the way, and make sure you tighten both of them up. Now the bolt is tightened up, you can see there's no play in the shank of our hitch. So now we can get the rest of our Gen-Y ball mounts installed so we can hook up and tow.Well, thank you all for watching, and I hope this information helped you guys out. But that's going to do it for our look at the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for the inch and a quarter, two inch, and two and a half inch receivers.

Use this anti-rattle device to keep your hitch-mounted accessory from rattling in your receiver. For use with 2-1/2" receivers. Slide over accessory's shank, insert shank into hitch receiver, then tighten down corners with included wrench.Maybe ok for a small trailer, but the metal ended up just flattening down so much that it no longer takes the play out of the receiver. Better to get a clamping style I guess.
Pricey but it functions well. Removed all slack/rattling from hitch connection.
Poorly made, rusted after a month, set screws were steel that rusted in place, poor powder coat or paint, didn't last I had to cut the piece off with an angle grinder. Do not waste your money on this Poorly made product.
Not impressed it didn’t come with the Allen wrench and can’t tighten when installed because bumper is in the way if you go by the directions
Doesn't stay tight enough to take out hitch slop. Needsto be four set screws.
Great product!! Easy to install!! Thank you etrailer for the assistance on my order.. A++
Worked great to tighten up loose and noisy hitch. Reduced the banging and snatching of the trailer on the truck going over bumps and when loading and unloading. Sleek and better designed than all the others.
Gets the job done quietly..
You are doing good with all aspects. Sales, returns, information. No bad experiences
The anti-rattle clamp was a little tight. Had a hard time getting it in with the reducer sleeve to adapt to a 2” receiver. I drove it in and it is very tight. That is good! My F-250 has a 2 1/2” receiver, but most items I use it for are 2”. This will solve the proble.
Cleaner look on my hitch than the U bolt ones.
It definitely works keeps hich from rattling. But after a year the set screws rusted i broke 3 allen keys had to take split wedges to remove the hitch. Need to in stall antiseze on the set scews or get stainless steel set screws
I returned this item as I didn't use or need it
Perfect product to tighten up movement between truck receiver and ball shank. Durable and super Easy to install and remove when not needed. Highly recommend to insure tight, no rattle or movement in connection.
Great product. This solves the rattling problem with my ball hitch.
Works great, used a hammer and punch and really sank it in there.
The thin edges were knurled and I had to file them smooth. After filing them then the paint was gone so it would start rusting. I couldn't get it tight enough in between the hitch and receiver to keep it from rattling. I would suggest saving your money on this item and not purchase it.
Easy to install. It wedges between the tongue and receiver and prevents rattle. Works as advertised.
Too hard to seat in the receiver & set screws slipped. etrailer.com sells a lot of very good products, this is not one of them.
Works as advertised. Love it and you will need one with a big hitch
Not what I was looking for but it works.
Good product that blends in with the receiver. Very firm with no rattle
Does what it's supposed to do, but unfortunately after only a year it's looking pretty rusty, especially the set screws.
Good concept, but the 2" sleeve needs to be longer.
