Video Transcript for Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Anti-Rattle - Standard Anti-Rattle - 325-GH-033 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the Gey Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers. Now, this anti-rattle device keeps a hitch mounted accessory from making noise when it's installed in your hitch. It deters rattle and sway from within the hitch receiver. It is designed to work with ball mounts, tow bars, and hitch mount accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers. It's a really fast and easy installation. All you have to do is slip the clamp over the shank of the access, and then insert it into the hitch on your vehicle. As you insert it, you wanna make sure this wedge piece goes into the hitch.

That's gonna take out that slack between your accessory and the actual hitch itself.Once you have it installed, you take the included tool and you tighten the corners of the clamp, which are just these little hex set screws. And as you tighten the corners of the clamp, it prohibits movement from within the receiver. It's made from a durable steel construction. It has a nice powder-coated finish on it to resist rust and corrosion. And it is designed for 2"x2" trailer hitch receivers, and the product is made in the USA.That's gonna do it for today's look at the Gen Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitches.

This product was useful to eliminate clunking between the hitch shank and the receiver. It is essentially an adjustable wedge between the shank and receiver, but I did find that it was not sufficient to simply slip it on and tighten the set screws. A few gentle whacks with a rubber hammer to coax it into the gap before tightening the screws and it worked perfectly. There was a confusing array of products to accomplish this and some were quite pricey. I chose this one because it was simple and inexpensive. It does the job. Finally, kudos on etrailer's prices, selection, delivery time and customer support. A great company to deal with. 651061

Ask the Experts about this Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Anti-Rattle
Do you have a question about this Hitch Anti-Rattle?

  • Can a Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Be Used with a Ball Mount
  • An anti rattle hitch pin will work for both hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to a ball mount with a hollow shank. However, most ball mounts have a solid shank and most anti rattle hitch pins used for bike racks are specific to that rack which is also the case for the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt part # SR25056 which only works with Softride hitch-mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. A better option for a ball mount with a solid shank is a...

  • Anti-Rattle Sleeve for a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch using a 2 Inch Reducer
  • It sounds to me like you looking for an anti-rattle sleeve that will work with the 2-1/2" to 2" reducer sleeve you have on your Class V 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver. For this you will need two sleeve's, one for the 2-1/2" opening using part # 325-GH-063 and one for the 2" opening using part # 325-GH-033. The above anti-rattle sleeve will do a great job of reducing rattle and hitch movement. Each adapter has two hex head set screws which will both tighten the device to the ball mount...

  • How to Reduce Wobble when Using Curt Cargo Carrier C18145 in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • Hitch accessories tend to wobble, especially those that use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. The threaded hitch pin can only do so much to combat the movement. The issue is that the shank of the accessory has to be slightly smaller than the opening otherwise it would be difficult to insert and remove the accessory. That combined with the single attachment point and width of a cargo carrier means that even the smallest gap between shank and receiver seems huge at either end of the carrier. What...

  • Recommendation For Reducing Rattle From Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount
  • A great anti-rattle device to remove the rattle from your Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount w/Built-in Scale, Item # WS6-2, is the sleeve style Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Device, Item # 325-GH-033. I contacted the manufacturer and they are confident that it will fit. Once you put it in place on your ball mount and tighten the set screw you will not have to install it again.

  • How to Reduce Movement of the Ball Mount Inside the Trailer Hitch Receiver Tube
  • It is very unlikely that the hitch pin hole on your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver is worn causing the ball mount to slide back and forth. There is usually a little bit of play in the receiver tube opening with a ball mount and this can easily be fixed using an anti-rattle hitch pin like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 63232. This hitch pin has both anti-rattle and locking capabilities. It comes with everything needed for installation including two keys. As long as the...

  • Recommendation For Heavy Duty Hitch For 2015 Ford F-150 With 2 Balls - 2 Inches And 2-5/16 Inches
  • We have a great hitch that will work well for you. The Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/Stacked Receivers, Item # 325-GH-315, is one of our top-end hitches that is heavy duty and very adjustable. It has a maximum towing weight capacity of 10,000-lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,500-lbs. It has a maximum rise/drop of 10-inches. It comes with two balls: 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch. This Gen-Y hitch ball mount is made in the USA. I also recommend getting the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle...

  • Using a Thule Bike Rack with 1-1/4 Inch Shank in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • Replacement Aluminum Hitch Adapter Sleeve # SA3032 is not a confirmed fit for any Thule racks but there are other options. First, if you know which Thule bike rack model you have I can check to see if there is an alternate shank for it to replace the 1-1/4 inch one that is on the rack. If you are not sure which Thule bike rack you have or if there isn't a 2 inch shank for it then I recommend using a reducer sleeve, # HT02. This will only slightly increase the distance the bike rack...

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Hitch Immobilizer for Motorcycle hauler
  • The Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers # 63080 is not the heavy duty anti-rattle stability holder for the weight of a motorcycle carrier. For that kind of stabilization you are seeking, I recommend the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer II - 2" Hitches # BX88224 which will give you stability and support both vertically and horizontally. This is what I'd want to use for my motorcycle. If you want something a little more subtle that will also help stabilize...

  • Does Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Work With 2 Inch Trailer Hitch on Ford F-150
  • The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # 325-GH-033 is actually designed to fit over the shank of a ball mount or accessory that fits into a 2 inch trailer hitch like the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # E98871 that fits certain model year Ford F-150's and F-150 Raptors. So the short answer is yes, the clamp will absolutely work with the hitch but it does not go around the lip, it will actually go into the receiver and then you'll tighten it. • How to Reduce Movement of Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack
  • The Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S64670 comes with a threaded hitch pin which will help to reduce rattle/wobble but if you need even further reduction then you will want to consider using a sleeve type anti-rattle device like the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-013 for 1-1/4" receivers or part # 325-GH-033 for 2" receivers. This device will also help you set the bike rack into the receiver as it will remember how far you need to insert the shank each time to line up the...

  • Can Locking Anti-Rattle Hitch Pins be Keyed Alike
  • Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 does not have a keyed alike option. If you ordered 2 they may or may not take the same key. None of the anti-rattle hitch locks can be keyed alike but what you could do is use two of hitch lock # 7683, select the keyed alike option, and then use separate anti-rattle devices such as # 325-GH-033. The great thing about this anti-rattle device is that once you put it in the right place on your ball mount or other accessory and tighten the...

  • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
  • It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # 325-GH-033. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...

  • I do have one other option for you to help stabilize what I assume is a 2" ball mount being used with a 2-1/2" to 2" sleeve inside a 2-1/2" receiver tube. For this, I recommend to use the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-063 between the receiver tube and sleeve and the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-033 between the sleeve and ball mount. This device would apply pressure is all directions and you don't have to worry about heavy duty towing capability. That said, there is really...

If this will not work for you due to the position of the safety chain loops then the only other option I would have is a wedge for the 2" shank, the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-033.
