B and W Hitch Reducer Adapter with Pinched Ends

Avoid the nuisance of having an adapter slide all the way into your receiver. The pinched ends on this reducer sleeve keep the adapter in place while you insert your bike rack or other accessory into your hitch. This ensures that the pin holes on the adapter line up with those on your hitch receiver and on your accessory.

B and W Reducer Sleeve Hitch Adapter Pin Holes

Two sets of pin holes allow for a custom fit for most factory and aftermarket hitches. Simply adjust the orientation of the pinched ends so that the pin holes line up with your receiver tube pin holes. For Ram and Ford factory hitches and Draw-Tite aftermarket hitches, insert the reducer sleeve so that the pinched ends face out to the sides. For GM factory hitches and Curt aftermarket hitches, insert the sleeve so that the ends are positioned on the top and bottom of your receiver.

Does the job, but the inside of the sleeve is a bit oversized, leading to rattle. Costly for a piece of steel tube with some holes in it. I opted to pay more because it's USA made, but next time I'd buy one of the imported options etrailer has and save the money.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you need an anti-rattle device. I will attach one.

Nice sleeve reducer. Fits my F-250 hitch well with very little slop. I like that it has a lip on it so it is easy to put the pin into it. As always, excellent customer service from etrailer.

Nice product very well built. But left still to much play in the hitch

Thanks for your review. Your hitch receiver reducer sleeve isnt meant to be an anti-rattle device, but we do offer solutions. I found an anti-rattle adapter that fits your hitch receiver BX88312. Here are the rest of the 2.5 inch anti-rattle options as well.

I have a 2019 F350 with a 3" receiver. Ford provides a 3" to 2.5" reducer adapter for the receiver, however they no longer provide the 2.5" to 2" reducer. This B&W receiver adapter is of excellent quality. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the set of pin holes intended for Ford don't quite line up. The set of pin holes for GM hitches work, the adapter is just extended a little. I plan to grind the holes intended for Ford hitches the 1/16 of an inch required to get the pin holes to align. Also, very happy with etrailer. Even for an item as simple as this they provide detailed information about the product. They kept me informed of the order/shipping cycle and even got the item to me quicker than first promised.

For my 2017 Ford F-250 receiver hitch 2.5" x 2" .....This product was a very sloppy of a fit....actually the factory Ford product fit tighter....the 2.5" tolerances were the worst..the 2" part was not a tight fit either..so the two loose fits compounded the problem....I have to return the product ....the engineers should look closer at this item....it did look good ..... the web site videos and info appeared to be a little deceptive to me compared to what I received....maybe trying to make it fit to many vehicle types could be the problem....

- BWRHXA2182
by:

Just what I ordered. But really how hard is it to drill a piece of tubing.

- BWRHXA2182
by:

I needed to step up my towing capacity to pull a horse trailer while carrying a slide in truck camper. That meant a class V 2/12 inch hitch. I have close to a grand in hitches for various things, and they are all 2 inches, so I had to get this adapter. The best part about it is it can't slide all the way through and fall out like other styles I've used in the past. Now I can assemble everything for a camping trip and not worry about the hitch capacity.

- BWRHXA2182

Fit as advertised with my F-250 and I appreciate the indent that keeps the hole on the sleeve lined up with the hole in the hitch receiver. Also, I am an etrailer customer because of the reviews and helpful information not to mention the competitive prices.

Very well constructed. Fits perfectly in my 2.5 inch receiver. Really like the flange on the front which prevents the sleeve from sliding in too far. Highly recommend.

  • Recommended 2-1/2" to 2" Reducer Sleeve for 2019 Ford F-250
The hitch reducer sleeve I strongly recommend for the 2-1/2" hitch on your 2019 Ford F-250 is the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BWRHXA2182 because it has two sets of pin holes to allow for a more custom fit on your Ford hitch. If your F-250 has a Ford factory hitch or Draw-Tite hitch, insert the reducer sleeve so the pinched ends face the sides; if you have a Curt aftermarket hitch, insert the sleeve so that the ends are positioned on the top and bottom of your receiver. That...

  • Using 2" Attachments with a New 2-1/2" Receiver
It sounds like you have some older 2" accessories that you need to work with your new 2-1/2" receiver. We have you covered. One option you have is to simply use a reducer sleeve like the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve, part # BWRHXA2182. This will slide into your 2-1/2" receiver and allow you to use your 2" attachments. I've linked to a video demonstration of this. Another option is to replace some of the smaller parts so you don't need a sleeve. For your weight distribution system's...

We actually do have one that matches what you're looking for! The B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BWRHXA2182 has 2 different sets of pin holes depending on what kind of hitch receiver you have. The pin holes that are more towards the middle have that 2-1/2" measurement you're looking for and you'll use a 5/8" pin like the locking B&w Hitch Pin # C23025 (or a standard pin if that's what you already have).

  • Recommended 2-1/2" to 2" Hitch Reducer that Does not Stick out of Hitch
Since the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # BWRHXA2182 is considered a "sleeve" it fits inside the hitch and does not stick out to reduce the hitch from a 2-1/2" hitch receiver to a 2" hitch receiver opening. A hitch reducer with an extension like part # HR26 will stick out.

  • Recommended 2-1/2" to 2" Hitch Reducer for Ford F-250
Yes, we do offer 2-1/2" to 2" trailer hitch reducers like the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # BWRHXA2182 which is what I recommend. That said, they all have some play so if you are trying to get rid of this completely a dedicated 2-1/2" shank would be the best option. If you can let me know the application I may be able to assist with this.

  • Does the B&W Receiver Reducer Sleeve Reduce the Tongue Weight and Towing Capacity
The short answer to this question is- No. The B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BWRHXA2182 does not reduce the tongue weight or towing capacity of your hitch in the same manner that a hitch adapter like the # HTAD would. You will still be able to tow and carry the full capacity that your vehicle and hitch are rated at. While it is rated for towing, you would still be best served by using a ball mount for a 2-1/2" receiver since those are often rated properly for towing applications...

While we do not sell hitch extenders for 2-1/2" receivers, we may have a solution for you. Since most hitch extenders will reduce your towing capacity (usually by 50%), a better alternative is to use a longer ball mount for getting the clearance you need for your tailgate. I've linked to a list of our 2" ball mounts since they have more range than 2-1/2" ball mounts.
