Both hitch extenders work perfectly. Very well made. The dual hitch will help me cary a bike rack and cargo carrier on our next expedition. etrailer.com repeat customer!! Good deals on quality products. They ship fast with great communication every time. Thank you!

Greetings Steve,I was hoping to do the same as you, carry a cargo rack and bike carrier at same time. I know eTrailer recommends NOT to operate this way because of clearance issues and tongue rating being reduced 50 when utilizing this hitch receiver. Of course, I would be concious of weight in cargo carrier as I would utilize it for lighter weight bulky items such as sleeping bags, pads and camp chairs? So.... How has this worked for you, 2 years from your posted review? Regards,Mark Kaim

Hey Mark! It still works great! Ive used it many times, flipped up and down, for various different hauling setups. My freind borrowed it once, returned it the next week and immedeatly went out and purchased one too. Solid state and multi-functional.

Another great product and experience!! I purchased this dual extender because the end my drive way out to street has a dip. If I put bike rack in lower receiver, bike rack will scrape ground. Putting bike rack in top extender solved my issue on my ‘15 Subaru Legacy!! Also purchased two Anti Rattle Locks. One for receiver and other for bike rack. Another big thumbs up to both items. Thanx ETRAILER!!!!

This accessory is one of the most useful I've ever seen. I routinely used it for pulling my trailer with my quad. I park the trailer in a back yard and after the quad pulls it out I attach the trailer to my vehicle and put my parcel tray on my quad via the tow hitch extender. When pulling my trailer with my truck, I invert the extender to lower my hitch nall and level the trailer. It's a great help in many ways.

I use this item frequently to haul our mountain bikes here, there & everywhere ! I previously had a similar product that was poorly made and inadequately painted . The MaxxTow extender is far superior and worth the slightly higher price ! Super satisfied & the customer service from etrailer.com was outstanding ! Thanks for the follow up, George J !

I have a golf cart that I needed to pull a small trailer behind and this gives it the right height for level teing

- MT70070
by:

Bought this dual hitch a year ago so that I could tow my pop top camper while also attaching my bike rack. It's still going strong and has performed just as I had hoped. My one critique would be to increase the height between the top and bottom hitch, because when using both hitches I need to first remove my top bike rack before I release the bottom hitch for my camper. An extra 2-4" would make that process far more flexible.

Good quality, quick delivery, and best price on the internet. My motorhome has a spare tire on the rear that interferes with my bike rack. This extender not only allows my biker rack to clear the spare but allows me to pull a trailer and utilize the bike rack at the same time.

I purchased this to lower my Thule Helium bike rack in order to open the gate of our jeep wrangler JL. With the extension, we have plenty of room for the back tire as well once the bike rack is in the upright position.

I just returned from my first RV excursion using this Double Hitch Extender. I was able to pull my M/C trailer AND mount my bike rack in the add-on receiver. Product is High Quality and Rock solid. I was able to leave the trailer at camp and bring my mountain bike to the hill. Simplicity! I used 2 eTrailer U-style hitch stabilizers.... so there was no wiggle in the system.

Fits my Ford F350 perfectly - the upper receiver is 1/2" away from my front license plate frame. If I had bought the cheaper unit that has the 8" extension it would not have fit. I almost bought the 8" extension unit based on etrailer's video, the video is made with an F250 and I have an F350 - in this video there was ~1/2" of clearance between the front of the truck license plate frame and the back of the upper receiver. The 12" extension receiver had a little more clearance even though the upper receiver is longer on the 12" extension than on the 8" extension. I would recommend a picture of the 8" and 12" extension receivers in an F350.

Love it, just what I was looking for, but wasn't aware of its existence until I spotted it on your website. This will allow us to travel with our small storage trailer yet still carry our bikes on the carrier which will go into the upper port and not have to try and tie them down to the trailer. eTrailer also offered the best price. I'm happy on all accounts. Pictures to follow.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. My family and I are taking a trip this summer out west, a 5,000 mile round trip. We are pulling a pop-up camper and wanted to bring our bikes as well. This will allow us to bring both! I did not know what to expect with the quality but it has exceeded my expectations. The customer service is second to none. etrailer.com upgraded the shipping so I received it several days before I expected it. They have also followed up with me as to how satisfied I was and if they could help in any way. Overall, I am very impressed with etrailer.com and am very happy with the experience. I will definitely shop here again.

This hitch adapter works great for my Jeep Wrangler. I got this so I can access the rear cargo area with the cargo rack attached and still open the rear Jeep door. The 30” cargo rack was also purchased from etrailer which I load a 30” mower, gas, blower and trimmer. I purchased both about one year ago and highly recommend both items.

Quite happy with the quality of this extender. Welds look good and don't protrude into the receivers, nice finish paint. The best thing about the extender is that it just clears the spare tire on my Wrangler JL when seated in my Draw-tite hitch receiver. Now I can carry my kayak (hitchmount-rack v2 carrier) in one receiver and and bicycle carrier in the other. Thanks, etrailer, for the quick shipping and quality products!

Very stout extender. I use it to hoist deer into my Gator and it does a great job without flexing.

- MT70070
by:

This has been a great addition because it allows me to place my bike rack higher on my trailer. Also I can then put a rack into the lower receiver. Best thing I have done to the hind end. Coupling this with the hitch anti-rattle works very well.

The very best made hitch extender with excellent powder coat.

by:

I bought this dual hitch extender after I discovered I cannot open the gate of my JK Wrangler with the hitch mounted bike rack on. This is exactly what I needed to lower the bike rack so the spare tire clears it when folded back (to allow access to a gate).

by:

This is a great product, I use it so I can put a 6 inch vise in the receiver while keeping the tailgate open which is handy for cutting pipe or angle iron for various projects.

- MT70070

the dual hitch extender enabled me to travel 10 hours with a trailer and hitch bike rack. It's easy to install. Just be aware there's no pin!

This hitch extender solved my problems of bike rack clearance from my slide-in camper & ground clearance. MOST important was the excellent customer service I received from etrailer; I made an error in the fit of the hitch pins I ordered. The sales persons noticed this mistake, contacted me promptly & made the change. Hooray for old fashioned sales work!

Ask the Experts about this MaxxTow Hitch Adapters

  • Is it Safe to Use MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender to Carry Bike Rack and Flat Tow a Jeep
Anytime a hitch extender like the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender # MT70070 is used it reduces the weight capacity of the trailer hitch it's installed into by 50%. The extender itself is rated for 4,000 lbs towing and 400 lbs tongue weight, but the only way you can safely use it to the full capacity is if your trailer hitch is rated for 8,000 lbs towing and 800 lbs tongue. Since the hitch on your motorhome is rated at 5K that means when using this extender that is reduced to 2,500 lbs towing/250...

If you use a hitch extender or adapter you don't end up cutting the capacity of the accessory by 50 percent but you do end up cutting the capacity of the trailer hitch it's all installed in by 50 percent due to the increase in leverage and movement. Since the Draw Tite hitch part # 76112 that you have has a tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs you'd end up with a capacity of 262.5 lbs when using hitch adapter.
