AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be checking out this MaxxTow latch lock. What this is going to do, it's going to slide in this hole here on your latch on your coupler. That way you can't open it. If it's not connected to anything, nobody can connect to anything and take it from you, or if your ball is in here, it locks it to your ball. That way no one can disconnect it from your vehicle.
Let's check it out. There's a lock cylinder here. It's textured so you can kind of grab it. It gives you a little bit of grip, just that you can hold it and unlock. It comes with two keys to do that. Once you take it off, it's got a rubber cover just to cover up the lock mechanism.
That way no dust, grime, or any the elements get in there to erode it and ruin it for you. You can easily cover that up, and it's no problem. That'll put it on there. You don't have to push the key in there. Sometimes you have to have the key in there or twist it to twist it on.
This one you just push on, and it goes right into place. So now it's locked, and nobody can mess with the latch.Overall, it's black, e-coated steel. So it's going to hold up when you leave it outside. So you don't have to worry about the elements bothering it or eroding it or rusting it. It feels pretty durable.
Nothing's perfect, but it's definitely going to keep people from messing with your trailer. They're going to take one look at it and see it's got the lock whether it's attached to your vehicle or not and probably just go on to the next one that doesn't have a lock. They're not even going to bother with this one.Since every trailer is not the same, this does come in a couple of different sizes. What we're going to be talking about is this one's going to be 2-1/2", and that's the inside span here. The pin itself is a 1/4" thick. Now, the quarter inch thick pin is going to be the same on all of them, but the sides are going to be different. So if you need one that's a little bit smaller, your coupler is different than this, you can go to the 7/8, and again, that's from here to here. If you need to go bigger, you get 3-5/8, and that's going to be from here to here.Whichever one you decide to go with, they're going to keep your latch locked keeping people from messing with your trailer. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped.
Used these to secure my Erickson Mesh Tarp when hauling mulch on my trailer. Easy to use, tighten and release. Great investment.
The 7/8" coupler latch lock works as stated and shipping was fast.
