Ball Displayed

The Hide-A-Goose gooseneck trailer hitch works to meet your heavy-duty towing needs while still allowing you to get full use out of your truck bed. It installs to existing, factory attachment points beneath your vehicle to create a low-profile look.

To remove the ball from this hitch, just lift and turn the lever that is built into the top of the ball. This will disengage the ball bearings in the shank so that you can easily lift the ball out of the hole.

Magent Cover

Once you've removed the ball, use the rubber cover to conceal the ball hole. This cover prevents dirt and debris from getting into the ball hole. This will prevent buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.

Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2017 Ram 3500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 3500, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Hide-A-Goose underbed gooseneck trailer hitch. Offering a 30,000 pound capacity, the part number is 9466. Now here's what our gooseneck's going to look like installed on the vehicle when ready for use. As you can see, you're going to have the two and 5/16 inch ball here and safety chain connection points. They're on a spring loaded, so that's going to keep them from rattling, keep them from bouncing around but still gives you plenty of room to get even the biggest chains connected. By raising the handle and rotating it, you're going to be able to lift that ball right out of there.

You can see that handle on top actually pushes these balls out where they ride in the socket. Now the nice thing about the ball set up is if we don't have it in the right position, we can turn that to the locked position, and then just rotate the ball until that pops down in. That gives us good position. You see there's not a lot of movement or play with the ball. Now this is a chrome plated ball, so it should stand up to years of use and stay looking pretty nice. Now the hitch itself is going to offer a capacity of 30,000 pounds in gross trailer weight.

It's going to be the total weight of your trailer and anything that you might have loaded up on it. It offers a 7,500 pound vertical load limit, so that's the maximum downward force that we can put here on our ball. But of course you do want to consult the owners manual of the Ram to see what it's rated for and don't go over that. Now when not in use, Draw-Tite's provided a cap. You can see that's going to fit down and in the top part of that gooseneck, just to keep out any dirt, debris or moisture. You can see with the bed liner like what we've got here, it kind of interferes with that.

So to use it with a drop in liner, you'll have to enlarge this outer hole slightly. For a standard spray in bed liners or regular bed, that would fit right in.Now here's what the underbed installation kit looks like. From inside the bed we see nothing. This is where all of the heavy duty material is. Now this is going to be heavy duty steel.

You can see how nice and thick it is. Got really, really good welds and they wrapped all that up with a black powder coat finish. As far as installation goes, you really only need one size tool, it's 24 millimeter for the main bolt. And also for our safety chain nuts that go on here at our safety chain connection points. A kit like this allows us to bolt directly into the factory mounting locations for the gooseneck, so we don't have to add the big cross bars and we don't have to add the side plates, which are very common when doing gooseneck hitches. Now underneath the truck, there's a few things we're going to do like lowering the spare tire. We're going to remove the heat shield here and we're also going to lower the exhaust down a little bit. That's going to give us good room to get up and fasten our hardware in place. There are five bolts that hold the heat shield. You can see the three here. These you want to use a 10 millimeter socket for. The two others are going to be on the back side of this lip. We've got one here, pretty much right in the middle of the truck and one a little bit closer to the passenger side right in there. Now just behind the heat shield, that was right here, you've got one exhaust hanger to remove. It's a good idea to use some spray lubricant here just to help everything slide apart a little bit easier. Then to remove them, we use a big pry bar or a large screwdriver. Just need to push out from the back. Now if we follow that exhaust pipe forward, we're going to have two more located pretty much right here where the drive shaft meets the rear end. We'll get those removed as well. Now you'll also want to come to the next two in front of those. These are going to be more in the middle of the truck and we're going to get those removed as well. Now we're going to use a three and a half inch hole saw. This is right here in the middle of the truck bed directly above the axle. And we want to use this to mark the center of our hole. Now with that spot marked, you can either continue to drill through and use your quarter inch bit as a guide. We're just going to switch to a longer bit. This particular truck has the plastic bed liner, so this is going to allow us to go through both the bed and the liner. Now using the hole that's come through our bed as a guide, we're going to drill our three and a half inch hole down. Now we'll just check that edge and if we have any sharp spots or anything like that we can get it cleaned up. You can use a file or just going to use like a carbine bit here. Now we're going to use some clear enamel just to go over top of that. It's going to cover up any of that bare metal surface and help to make sure we don't have any rust issues. Now with our hole drilled out, we can get our nut plates put in. These are going to go in through the wheel well where we've got an access panel. The panel's right here. They're two fasteners, these just are kind of like a push pin fastener but you'll use a Phillips screwdriver and kind of unthread the center. Then you can pull it out. Just like that, it'll free up that side, do the same thing over here. Then we lift up and pull out. That'll give us access to slide it in right above our gooseneck prep. Then we'll just slide these in. Right over top and once we get underneath before we lift that head in place, we'll get them in position. Now let's go to the driver's side and we'll repeat that same process there. Now we're just going to adjust that nut plate. You can see it right up in our attachment point here. One of the nuts you want sitting over this hole. The other one you want sitting over this hole, just like that. We'll get that done on both sides, we'll be ready to lift our head into position. Now we can grab our head. We want the of course the center section here to go through the hole that's been created. And it's really not a bad idea to get yourself an extra set of hands to kind of help you hold it in position while you get your hardware started. We're going to be using the bolts provided with the kit. Want a flat washer and a lock washer on each one and then that needs to thread into our nut plate. Alright, once we have two really well started, we can just let it rest there. We can get our other two in place. Now we're going to use a 24 millimeter socket, we're going to snug down all four of our bolts and we'll torque them to the specifications listed in the instructions. Now I'm going to use a 5/8 diameter drill bit. I'm going to use it to mark the center of each of my holes. You can see we've got one, two, three, and four here. You want to drill these up through so then we can bring our 5/8 bit down from the top. Now I'm just going to trim up around the bed liner here. If you have a spray in bed liner or if it's just a regular truck bed, you probably won't have to do this. Although if you do have any sharp edges or anything like hanging in the middle, you want to clean those up. Use a lik bit more clear coat there, just to make sure don't have any corrosion. We'll pass out U bolts down through. Want to make sure they move freely. You can see this one's kind of binding a little bit. What we'll do is open this hole up just a touch. Now once both of them are moving nice and freely, we'll head underneath and attach the hardware there. Now on each U bolt leg, we want to slide on our flat washer, going to place on the spring. And you want to compress that so you can get your nut started. We'll do that for all four locations. Now while we hold the spring up and out of the way, we want to tighten down our lock nuts, so we have three threads showing below them. Now we're ready to get our exhaust put back in place. Also, put our heat shield and spare tire back in, if you decided to remove that. You want to use a little bit more spray lubricant on these and then once the holes are lined up, they should slide on fairly easily. Now with your wires here that we're attached to the nut plates, you can cut these off, so they're back underneath the frame a little bit. What I like to do is just take a pair of pliers and kind of flex it and you're going to weaken that up enough it'll just break off of that plate. Just like that and we'll put that side panel back in. Now with these as they go back in, you'll just put the outside in and you can just push the middle. You don't have to use your screwdriver at this point. Now we'll go do the same thing for our passenger side. Now we're going to get our heat shield put back in place as well. Remember you've got five bolts, three are going to be over here on the frame rail. Then we've got two on our cross member here. One towards the middle, one towards the passenger side. Now you won't need to enlarge this hole very much to get that cap on if you do happen to have them bed liner like what we've got. I'm also going to take a square notch out one side. I'm going to use the back just so you can get your finger in there, lift up on that cap. Now you can see our cap fits down in there properly and we've got room to where we can pull it up from the rear there. With everything back in place, that's going to complete our installation of the Hide-A-Goose underbed gooseneck trailer hitch, part number 9466 on our 2017 Ram 3500.

DO NOT BUY this product if you ever want to pull a 5th wheel trailer on a 5th wheel sliding hitch! Unlike b and w you can not get a hitch to fit into the ball mount to pull a 5th wheel in a short box truck! It sure would have been nice to know this prior to purchasing as now I have to either buy a rail hitch kit or convert my 5th wheel over to a gooseneck. The way campers are made I don’t think 13,000 pounds taking a beating on a converted gooseneck hitch will do the camper any good. Now I would give it 2 stars if they would let me change it

I really liked the product and it got to me in a timely maner. The only thing that was wrong was I was 4 lock nuts short (the ones that go the the safty chain u bolts) and 2 washers short. I dont live in town so I had to drive 30min to go get thoes few parts. There cheap parts so its not worth contacting the company and haveing to wait another week for them. It was easy to put in and works like a champ. 182398

While initially I was frustrated with what was potentially going to be super slow shipping, the customer service at etrailer was fantastic. We ended up getting the hitch we ordered in a timely fashion and it came with easy to use instructions. The worst part was trying to cut the hole in the bed of the truck, but ended up working out fine. thank you etrailer! Excellent customer service. 553194

Pretty good hitch, I’ve had and installed several gooseneck hitches and this one wasn’t bad to install. It’s well built and appears to exceed my trucks towing capacity, I advise to go ahead and lift the back of the bed up at least 2” to make it easier to install and align the hitch. I installed this on a 2018 GMC 2500 HD. 575037

The box for the installation brackets was busted up (I blame the shipping company for that), but all parts were there. The hitch and brackets are very well made and went easy, but it did take a little longer than I expected. I am planning on putting another gooseneck hitch on another truck I have and will definantely use etrailer again. etrailer had the best price, it came quickly, and they handle quality products. 390721

Product is a great fit for my 2016 Ram 2500. The installation videos are dead on which allowed me to install the hitch myself. DIY savings was approx. $125. Tip: In addition to bending the wire on the nut plates, use plastic zip ties to secure the wires. This will absolutely prevent any rattling noise. 400447

The only reason this product got 1 star is because I had to give it one star to rate it! Stupid system. The product I bought was the (Cequent) Draw-Tite 9460-48 gooseneck hitch. This is the worse product I ever bought. It is rated on everyone's website as having a 30,000 lb capacity. When you get the hitch you see all of these stickers on it saying DO NOT EXCEED 22,000 LBS. Initially the manufacturer said it was a mistake: they put the wrong stickers on it. When asked for new 30,000 lb stickers they admitted it was only rated for 22,000 lbs. I won't buy any Cequent Products ever. Or any of the Brand Names they sell. Draw_Tite is one of their brands. 315874

Fast shipping. Everything fit perfect. Hardest thing is fishing bolts up through box frame. Need to use two screwdrivers to keep up off of bottom of frame. I installed by myself in 3-4 hours. 2 people could do it in 2. Second gooseneck hitch I have gotten from Etrailer. Will get next one frim them. I highly recommend. 166295

Hitch performs well. Nice heavy duty steel. I have 4 star bc the measurement for the hitch wasn't quite right on my truck. From end of bed to center was about an 1/8" off. I had to cut out some extra on the cab side of the bed. Once that was done it was perfect. The magnet Drawtite supplies is just pathetic. I threw it away and made my own cover. As far as performance and ease of use I would recommend. There is a YouTube video etrailer has that is also very helpful. I referred to it a couple of times the instructions didn't make sense or I just wanted to check direction and that I was using the proper bolts. In one part the instructions say to use a washer but in the video they do not. I chose to go without. If you just want a good reliable gooseneck hitch for a few $$ less this is the one. 433787

Easy install once you get past the kinda confusing drawings. The safety hooks are pretty short, I just have the nuts flush with threads but can't get the hooks under them. I will have to look for longer ones. Took 3 hrs to install with having to remove hard tonneau cover and bed liner and reinstalling and clean up. Thought it would be worse!! The isolation tape they send with the hitch is kind of cheesy, hopefully it works. Was a great price! 435890

Hitch works great, no problems with the ball or linkages freezing up. Everything seems good. Have used it to pull a cattle trailer 12+ times this year.

My son and I bought the Hide-a-Goose set up for his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab. The shipping of the 111 lbs. packages (came in 2 boxes) was fast! Upon arrival, the instructions were right-on and easy to follow. We took our time and the installation went off without a hitch(pun intended!). We purchased the "no drilling required" kit and the only holes needed were through the truck bed. George kept us updated and we really appreciate the guys at etrailer. I highly recommend their products and would most definitely buy from etrailer again! Thanks guys! Leon W. 246677

The customer service was spectacular which is great to find nowadays. The hitch I had a couple issues with however. Issue 1 was the the u-bolts for the safety chains are to short. I hooked up my trailer jumped in the back and couldn't get the chains in the loops without taking the nuts off the bolts putting on the chains and having my girlfriend push them down while i put the nuts on (I have a plastic bedliner which might have been the main issue here). Issue 2 is that online it says that I can tow 30,000lbs with this hitch. However when this hitch came in it said in multiple places in the mounting kit not to exceed 17,000lbs which makes me kind of nervous since I have to pull some heavy loads On the bright side though the hitch installed easier then i thought it would and I found etrailers YouTube video very helpful for it. I used it to pull a 13,000lb trailer this weekend and had no issues with it I'd probably buy this hitch again just because it's significantly cheaper then the blue ox and b&w hitches but I'd like them fix the above mentioned issues 386546

This hitch is exactly what we needed to pull our camper. Worked great, but not the easiest to install, especially using the instructions that come with the hitch. After watching a YouTube video, which gave a much better understanding, I was able to install the hitch with a better idea of what I was doing. Do to the lack of written instructions I am giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 star. 418586

Good hitch. Love the drop and lock ball way more than my old hide-a-goose turnover ball. Installed it myself and only had to unbolt the brake like bracket. Left spare tire and exhaust in place. Put the ball in the center piece and slid it up and had my neighbor hold it by the ball while I put the conicals and nuts on. 519709

I have bought from etrailer for many years now. Many hitches from a 2005 Toyota highlander hitch and wiring, to a 2012 Chrysler town and country hitch and wiring, brake controller to my most recent one a 2008 dodge ram mega cab gooseneck hitch. Every part I have bought have fit without any modification. The YouTube videos are specially helpful. I've recieved my shipment a few days ago which was way faster then I expected. Today i woke up ready to install it, I read the instructions and watched the YouTube video went under my truck bed and started working on it. I did mess up on the hole for the ball but that was my oops. Very satisfied. 501465

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

The product itself seems to be ok, my main problem was with the installation instructions, namely the measurement as to where to drill the hole in the bed of a 2008 Ford F250 crew cab diesel short bed. I first watched and used etrailer.com's video instructions where they installed this same hitch on a 2008 Ford F250 diesel just like mine so I thought it would be pretty accurate. Well it was except for the most important part, the measurement as to where to drill the hole in the bed. On the video it said drill at 47 7/8". I should have double checked the instructions from draw-tite but felt etrailer's video would be correct. It wasn't though. After drilling the hole and realizing it was off I looked at draw-tite's instructions which said drill hole at 46 3/16" so luckily I was able to use the hole saw again to very carefully drill a hole at 46 3/16" only to find out on my truck this was wrong also as it was too short! I was able to make it work by trimming the edges where the two holes met and so now I have an oval hole instead of a circle. I measured the center of the hole after installing it and I should have drilled the hole at around 46 5/8". If I was to do it again I would have installed the plate under the bed and tightened it up and marked on the underside of the bed the center of the hole. Then removed the hitch plate and used a punch or small drill bit to drill up from bottom of bed to mark center of hole. Just make sure you know where the center is before you drill and don't just rely on the measurement given in the instructions. Luckily this was not a new truck with a nice bed and I had a plastic bedliner that covered up my mistake! Probably should have went with the B&W my buddy installed in his truck with no problems! 160419

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Very pleased with the simple design. I Choose this hitch based on the cross bar and frame plate design. It looked easier to install than some other brands, and it was, a simple painless install. The cross bars easily slipped over the frame rails and under the pickup bed without a fus. The cross bars have threaded ends built in (like bolts welded in the corners of the angle steel) that allow you to loosely hang the side brackets off the cross rails while getting everything fitted. (so you don't need 3 hands) The U-Bolts for the frame rail helps avoid having to drill holes in the frame for additional bolts. The ball design has good clearances to the pocket so this ball should not be getting rusted in place. The simple spring loaded pin lock for the ball also has good clearances and just pulls straight in and out of the ball to lock and unlock from the wheel well handle. Flipping the ball over to "hide away" means the bed can still be free and clear for loading materials. Cutting the 3.5" hole in the bed was made simple by accurate easy measurement instructions and a readily available hole saw from the hardware store. The carriage bolt hardware means you don't need a wrench on the backside of the bolt when tightening the nuts. Great Product, excellent design, easy to install and use. 431243

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Excellent product, easy to follow directions. Videos was great help. Installers in videos make it seem a simple install. I would say if you haven't installed one before it will most likely take more time than expected. Take your time and follow directions step by step. Some unexpected encounters with my truck was a plastic channel than ran along bottom of wheel wheels on both sides that had wiring running thur them. Had to lower to install fasteners. The cross members have threaded studs on end that are painted. Take a wire brush and remove paint from the studs so nuts will go on easy. 57665

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Ordered the hide a ball gooseneck hitch I had it in 4 business days with the free shipping, and if that wasn't good enough I found a cheaper priced hitch on another site after I bought it, and etrailer refunded me the difference plus 5% and lowered the price online so that the customers are getting the best bang for the buck with hands down the best customer service I have encountered yet. As far as the hitch goes it comes with plenty of instructions and all the hardware and took a buddy and I 2 hours from start to finish to complete. Great product, great service 168992

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Very please with the customer service and the hitch! I called etrailer.com to verify the hitch would fit my 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 dually, as I wasn't entirely sure the application was the same for a standard bed and a dually. Lindy was extremely helpful, and I was able to place my order with her right over the phone. The hitch arrived on time, and I was able to install it with no significant problems. I say 'significant problems', as the custom exhaust installed by the previous owner was in the way, but that's a problem with my truck, not the hitch. A recommendation: get a computer, or tablet, or phone, and use the video for installation. The video was (by far!) the best explanation on how to install the hitch. I used both the video and the written instructions, and occasionally the written instructions made me scratch my head. The video immediately cleared up any confusion. A word of caution, though, don't throw out the written instructions. They have the measuring distance for drilling the holes in the bed and the torque specs for the bolts. The whole installation took about four hours, from pulling the truck into the garage to putting everything away after installing the hitch. Most of that time was trying to maneuver around the non-standard exhaust, though. If my truck had the factory exhaust, I figure it would have been about two to two and a half hours for installation. The only tool I had to get was the correct size hole saw for drilling out the bed to install the ball. Everything else in the installation just requires basic hand tools and a decent socket set. Overall, it was an easy installation, and a great product. I would highly recommend this hitch, and will purchase it again if, or when, I get another truck. 504530

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Hitch seems to be built fairly well as far as the head and rail kit. The side plates for the frame are not even as thick as my frame rail. Didn't like that. Also a major turn off to this hitch, on my truck, a 2001 dodge 2500 short bed, the carriage bolts that hold the head to the rails, the heads hit the bed floor, enough to where the bed does not sit flush on the frame. 4 1 inch holes had to be drilled in the bed to let the bolt heads through. Also used a hare bigger hole saw than 3.5 to give some wiggle room. But the bolts hitting the floor needs to be addressed by draw tite. Wouldn't recommend for a dodge pickup 191838

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

Decent hitch, not the first Draw-Tite product I've used. Designed well, plenty of room for adjustment built into the slots and holes of the parts. It's built heavier than I will ever be able to tow with my '07 Tundra. We're buying a 25 foot fifth wheel camper with a gooseneck adapter. Gooseneck hitches are supposed to be better for driving off road, which is a big plus for me. I have over 1000 feet of rutted gravel road and driveway to get the camper to our little retreat in the woods! I haven't towed the camper yet, but I will add comments when I do! It would have been easier to install with a lift versus working from a creeper, but it still only took four hours! I'm sure it would have been easier on a new truck as well, not as much rust! The drawing and instructions were good, but could have explained which bolts went where a bit better. I did figure it out after a bit. Worst part was fixing all the other stuff that I found when I rolled under the truck! Only negative is the magnetic "cap" to keep the dirt out. Ridiculous! It's a refrigerator magnet! Why put that cheap thing in with such a heavy duty piece of equipment? I will figure something out to cover the hitch and plug the hole in the bed. 391215

Comments

Had to remove the hitch when I had the frame replaced on my Tundra, so I had to install the hitch again! The hitch is in great shape after about 2500 miles of pulling a 6000 pound trailer. It works as advertised, was a good price, and got shipped fairly quick. If youre even slightly mechanically adept, you should have no problems with the install. Even if youre not that handy, watch videos online to figure it out! As far as the cheap magnetic cap, I found a large freeze plug and painted it black to match the bed lining! Works great!

Once I finally got it in there it works great. This thing was a serious pain to put in by myself and I have good tools, a nice garage and it was still a pain. The measurement the directions gives for your hole was off by about a 1/2” for me. That’s why you drill a small hole first to make sure it’s centered. I had the hitch brackets tight to the bed crossmember and the measurement was still off. Other than being a little time consuming to put in it works great. I just wish they’d give you the option to upgrade to the offset ball at a discounted price. 654448

I couldn't have picked a better hitch for the price! I took it to a local business (Carolina welders, Laurinburg NC) and it took him only an hour to install and it installed perfectly! In two days I had my horse trailer hooked to it and I haven't had an issue since! And when I'm not hauling a trailer I easily flip the ball and I slide my dogbox in! I was skeptic about ordering but I do not regret my decision ANY!!! Love this hitch! 651717

In the words of Ace Ventura - Pet Detective... Like a Glove! I was in UPS delivery zone 1 - which was suppose to be 1 day delivery.... Boom - Nailed it. Got it when they said I would. I'm sure the manual says this some place but don't forget to wear safety googles! (not to be confused with the interweb search giant). My rustyish pup potty trained me in the eye before I said "self..." Anywho- i pooched my shopping cart order by originally ordering 2 of this hitches- only needed one. Called customer service and to my surprise- I got service! The super awesome representative only shipped 1 and credited my account and still got the order out the door in time for the UPS commitment. Will order again from these professionals again. Thank you etrailer!! 643630

Recieved my hitch in just 4 days as said. Inspected it and found all parts necessary to install. The hitch was made fron quality materials. Brandon was very helpful with my order of the gooseneck for my 13 Ram. And i chose the one Brandon recomended. Draw-Tite 9464-57 He was very knowledgeble about the hitch. Called him several times with questions and they were answered. I have not had time to install, but not expecting any problems. At this time I would recomend this product 638667

The product arrived in about 2 days. When my husband opened it and went through the parts with the diagram he noticed that 2 carriage bolts were missing and had to go to Menard's to purchase them to complete the assembly. I sent an email about this matter to customer service. Other than that I was very pleased with the Draw-Tite hitch and ease of ordering and of course the free shipping! 638647

Good product and works well. Only downside is that it takes two people to turn over the ball or you have to tie the release lever in the open position. 634745

  • Recommended Hide-A-Goose Hitch for 2014 Dodge Ram 3500
  • For your 2014 Ram 3500, the Reese 9464 is not a confirmed fit. Instead you would want the Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 9466. This is rated for up to 30,000 lbs and is a confirmed fit for your truck. I've attached a video to assist. For this installation, I recommend the 3-1/2" Hole Saw for Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Hitch Installation # 58381 along with pilot bit # 1124. You may also want to consider wiring harness # 50-97-410 to add a 7-way to your truck bed for...

  • Offset Gooseneck Ball Recommendation for Draw Tite Hitch in 2016 Ram 3500
  • If the gooseneck hitch you had was the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose style of hitch the offset gooseneck ball part # 19308 would fit and work well. The hitch you'd have to have installed in your 2016 Ram 3500 would be the part # 9466 which is the correct fit for your truck. Reese does not make a gooseneck hitch for your truck but Draw Tite and Reese are made by the same company.

  • Recommendations for 5th Wheel Trailer Connection With Gooseneck Hitch
  • The Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 30,000 lbs # 9466 does not have an adapter that fits in the gooseneck underbed system. It would require an above bed adapter. The underbed systems that work with the hitches have pins that run all the way through the adapter to hold it into the system. For a hitch you can use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045 which attaches to the gooseneck hitch ball. You can...

  • Why Don't Gooseneck Hitches Install Behind Rear Axle in Truck Bed
  • For your 2014 Ram 3500 you have to install a gooseneck hitch either right above the axle or slightly forward. Gooseneck trailers have very high pin weights relative to bumper pull trailers. If the pin weight is behind the rear axle of the truck it will actually unload the front suspension and reduce braking and handling performance to a dangerous level. The part # 9466 is a confirmed fit for your truck though and would be a great option. I attached an install video as well.

  • I actually have a better solution for you that will cost less. You can use the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1500 which was designed specifically for flatbed trucks. Since you know your way around welding equipment and metal fabrication this installation should be a breeze for you. I have included a link to a video showing the components for you. • Gooseneck or Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2013 Ram 3500 for Hauling 3 Car Trailer
  • For what you will be doing you will want to go with a gooseneck hitch. If nothing else, for the sole reason that gooseneck hitches have a 30k capacity typically and only the highest rated fifth wheels are usually around 24k. As long as your truck is a long bed the gooseneck is going to be the way to go. Fifth wheels have more moving parts that can potentially wear out. Their only real advantage is that you can get a slider hitch for if you have a short bed to allow for tighter turning...

This comes with everything needed to install the hitch ball in the bed of your truck. I attached an install video for this kit for you to check out as well.
