Image of truck bed with hitch ball installed

Even with the ball installed, the hitch takes up very little space in the truck bed. The rail system and gooseneck head unit is mounted under the bed. Only a 3-1/2" hole is required for the ball hole opening. Safety chain holders sit flush against truck bed floor.

Image of truck bed with hitch ball flipped over for storage

When not in use, the ball can be flipped over and inserted back into the hole. The low profile design makes for uninhibited truck bed access when your carrying other gear.

Image of gooseneck hitch with magnet covering hole

The ball hole can then be covered with the included magnet to help keep dirt and debris out.

Ball accessible in wheel well

The heavy duty handle with reinforced locking pin holds the ball in place and is easily accessible in the wheel well. To store the ball, simply pull the handle and twist it to secure in the open position. Then remove the ball, flip it over and slide it upside down back into the hole. After placing the magnetic cover, simply rotate the handle in the wheel well back to its starting position and the stowed ball will be secure.

Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Gooseneck 9464-35 Review

Today were going to review part number 9464-35 this is the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the installation kit. This kit is design to fit the Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 models with the six foot and eight foot beds. What you want to do is to determine the years that will fit in the models is if you go to the product page for this part number. At the bottom of the page therell be a listing of the models that this will fit the years and the models of Dodge Ram with this kit would fit on to. Now, this Underbed Gooseneck Hitch when installed on your vehicle you only have the ball and the safety chain loops that are visible in the truck bed. The rails and hardware, mounting brackets are all mounted under the bed.

You wont be able to see those in the truck bed. This will allow for full truck bed access when your ball stored. It does include this 2-5/16 ball that can be stored upside down in the bed when not in use. Just want to show you that right here this handle is what will release the ball. Right now its in the straight up position that means the handle cannot be pulled.

When this is installed this handle would be in your fender well. If you just push that handle down that will release it and allow you to pull it out and theres a little notch there that would stick on to that allow you to just pull up and remove the hitch ball. This is a 2-5/16 hitch ball and when you want to store it all you got to do is turn it upside down, drop it in to place, and its hidden now. Then just release the handle put it back up so the handle cannot be, and then it will lock that hitch ball in. Then they also include a nice magnetic cover that you can lay up over that keeps any dirt and grime from falling in to where the hitch ball is located.

A nice thing about this is, let me just show you. This hitch ball has a nice round shank, right here if you notice that will reduce the raddle in the hitch, the round sleeve and the ball have a tighter fit than any of the square design Goosenecks. Again, Im going to show you theres a little groove on this side and you have to line that up, theres a little pin that sticks out. It lines up that way if you turn it and try to get it in it wont fit that way, just line the screw up with the pin in there, that way it will line it up to allow the handle to go in and lock it in to place. Again, this handle you do have convenient fender well access to this handle to disconnect the trailer hitch ball.

This handle does have a nice easy grip to it. This Gooseneck also includes the safety chain attachment point right here that it flush in the truck bed. They are spring loaded so when you go to attach your safety chains you can just pull up on it, attach the chain, let it go. When you remove your safety chains and you let it go it will just pull right back down against the truck bed. Now, on this it is a vehicle specific rail kit thats install thats included with this that helps your Gooseneck installed very quickly. There is no drilling, welding, or bed removal required. As you can see this mounting brackets on the side, we have installed here a couple of the you can see the U-bolt this is what itll tighten up around your truck frame, these mounting brackets will attach to the truck frame, it makes for an extra strong hold and a quick install. The Gooseneck Hitch itself is attached to these rails with the four, five, eight inch diameter grade eight garage bolts. All the pieces have a eco base with a black powder coat finish for superior corrosion resistance. These parts are made in the USA, they do come with a limited lifetime warranty. Again, this ball size is 2-5/16. The towing capacity you will need to see your vehicles owners manual because this unit is rated to match the manufacturers tow rating. The Gooseneck Hitch head unit itself is rated at 30,000 pounds gross towing weight with a 7500 pound vertical load limit or pin weight. These rails are rated to much the manufacturers two rating in your owners manual. Installation tips basically when this is installed the only thing you have to drill in your truck bed is the 3 inch diameter hall for this ball to fit in to. The safety chain attachment point, these spring loaded U-bolt you just would drill four 9/16 holes that these would fit through. Thats all that require of drilling holes in to the truck bed. This part is tested to Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission Standards which is VESC-19. Again, just to show you, you can pull the hitch ball out, just turn it, drop it in to place, at the handle turn it up so the handle is lock, the ball wont come up, put the magnetic cover on. Youd have nothing, have full truck bed access. Now, when you go to use it just turn the handle down, release it, pull up, flip it over, its that easy to go.That should do it for the review on part number 9464-35 the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the installation kit. .

Great product at a great price! I measured out the 3.5" hole location as the directions said for a 8 ft bed on my 2010 Ram 3500 4X4 quad cab. I drilled the hole and deburred, Removed the rear fender well panels and proceded to slide the rails over the chasis. I had to bend the steel flange where the bed is put together during fabrication to have enough room to fit the rail between the bed and the chasis. This was only done on one side in one location. The rails slid right in and I continued on with the install. It was a little hard by myself but I managed. I did not have a lift and was lying on my back under the truck half the time. I did not have to remove my rear tires, raise the bed or remove exhaust to install. I did notice that I could have drilled the 3.5" hole about 3/8" to 1/4" less than the specified distance for perfect alignment on the chasis but all worked out well and it tows great! I'm very satisfied with my hitch and the experience with Etrailer, Thanks Etrailer! 182288

Ordered the hide a ball gooseneck hitch I had it in 4 business days with the free shipping, and if that wasn't good enough I found a cheaper priced hitch on another site after I bought it, and etrailer refunded me the difference plus 5% and lowered the price online so that the customers are getting the best bang for the buck with hands down the best customer service I have encountered yet. As far as the hitch goes it comes with plenty of instructions and all the hardware and took a buddy and I 2 hours from start to finish to complete. Great product, great service 168992

Great gooseneck hitch. I pulled my trucks limit with the hitch and towing has never felt so good. I will never go back to tag trailer again. The hitch is sturdy, well designed. I would recommend that anyone buying a hide a goose, that they frequently shift the lever and pull the ball out. Keep it clean to help prevent seizing up. Very useful if you also need the bed of your truck unobstructed. Customer service was top notch! UPS's delivery however... could use some better handling practices. Hands down best hitch I have ever installed and used. 177955

So far the hitch is working very well. Installation was relatively easy. A few notches in the bed seam and we were on our way. We installed two of them in the same model pickups and found that on the second one we didn't have to drop the exhaust pipes so installation was much easier. 61135

Received hitch in about 3 or 4 days; shipping was delayed due to weather. With the help of my wife I was able to install this hitch on my Dodge 3500 in about 2 hours. Only removed spare tire, did not have a lift and did not take the exhaust brcakes off. Went in pretty easy. 175864

Installation and fit were not quite as easy as the video on here made it look, but with two guys it was not terrible. Final product is awesome and looks nice. The little magnetic cover is kinda flimsy but i am sure i can make something a little more heavy duty. 30482

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

The product itself seems to be ok, my main problem was with the installation instructions, namely the measurement as to where to drill the hole in the bed of a 2008 Ford F250 crew cab diesel short bed. I first watched and used etrailer.com's video instructions where they installed this same hitch on a 2008 Ford F250 diesel just like mine so I thought it would be pretty accurate. Well it was except for the most important part, the measurement as to where to drill the hole in the bed. On the video it said drill at 47 7/8". I should have double checked the instructions from draw-tite but felt etrailer's video would be correct. It wasn't though. After drilling the hole and realizing it was off I looked at draw-tite's instructions which said drill hole at 46 3/16" so luckily I was able to use the hole saw again to very carefully drill a hole at 46 3/16" only to find out on my truck this was wrong also as it was too short! I was able to make it work by trimming the edges where the two holes met and so now I have an oval hole instead of a circle. I measured the center of the hole after installing it and I should have drilled the hole at around 46 5/8". If I was to do it again I would have installed the plate under the bed and tightened it up and marked on the underside of the bed the center of the hole. Then removed the hitch plate and used a punch or small drill bit to drill up from bottom of bed to mark center of hole. Just make sure you know where the center is before you drill and don't just rely on the measurement given in the instructions. Luckily this was not a new truck with a nice bed and I had a plastic bedliner that covered up my mistake! Probably should have went with the B&W my buddy installed in his truck with no problems! 160419

Excellent product, easy to follow directions. Videos was great help. Installers in videos make it seem a simple install. I would say if you haven't installed one before it will most likely take more time than expected. Take your time and follow directions step by step. Some unexpected encounters with my truck was a plastic channel than ran along bottom of wheel wheels on both sides that had wiring running thur them. Had to lower to install fasteners. The cross members have threaded studs on end that are painted. Take a wire brush and remove paint from the studs so nuts will go on easy. 57665

I ordered this hitch 4 days ago, received it yesterday, and installed it today. This is a quality product, with good instructions and it is well made. I installed this on a 94 Dodge 2500, with 205,000 miles on it. I expected to experience some issues due to age and crude, but this proved to be a very straight forward process. From start to finish, it took me 3 hours, and I only ran into two issues. First, I did have to drill a hole in each side plate- my truck only had one existing hole in the frame that lined up with the plate. So, I drilled an extra hole in each plate, which was simpler than drilling holes in the frame. And two, there was a heavy layer of powercoating on the threaded ends of the cross rails, which made it difficult to get the nuts started. Aside from that, the product was excellent, the design is great and expidites installation, and it functions well. 39176

Nice kit, tough job w/out a lift but can be done, keep in mind the U bolts for breakaway chain attachment are different and s/b installed per the instructions to avoid interference with the fuel tank, etc. Figured it would include electrical kit but was not, likely due to too many configuration options and truck types. 184333

I couldn't be more pleased with this product. The instructions were very easy to understand. The only thing that was any different from what they said was that the safety chain u bolts were supposed to be in a lower corrugation of the bed but on my truck the holes were only on a upper corrugation. So, they are a 1/4" higher than they would have been, oh well. The local shop wanted to charge my buddy $500 to install a gooseneck hitch, so I decided to attempt mine at home. It went without a hitch, haha, so hopefully he will just buy one of these and buy a couple cases and some pizza. 9196

I had the same problem with my 06 f250 but I realized after fighting it for about 3 hours over 3 days that my bed was bent up pretty bad from the previous owner...I knew it was but didnt realize at the time it would cause a major headache when installing this hitch...Im guessing a straight bed would have saved me hours upon hours of trying to get the rails installed.

The hitch arrived 2 days after ordering, packages were tore up but all parts were intact. Haven't installed yet, but will this weekend, the parts look well made and heavy enough to support the load.If you watch the video on installing it says to measure 48 inches from the end of the bed for a 2006 Super Duty mine is a 05 and the instructions say 46&3/8 from the end. I think I will install than measure remove and drill the hole just to make sure. 162368

Solid product 4 out 5 rating due to alignment problems. Recommend using a 4" hole saw in bed to give yourself a little more room. I measured 3 times before cutting and hole was off about 1/4". Also it is worth any amount of $ to have this installed unless you have a lift, torquing the plate nuts to 250 ft lbs while laying on back standing on torque wrench doesn't feel good for a couple days after install. 2006 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed 155670

Installation on my 2002 F250 was about at simple as it gets. Did it in under two hours. Only had to remove the parking brake cable keepers from the left frame for bolt in installation. No clearance issues, etc. The basic instructions are good, photos could be a little clearer for the instances where something needs to be relocated. Kit comes with everything needed for installation and finished installation is nice and clean. 62940

I received the hitch several days early thanks to etrailer upgrading my shipping (at no cost to me.) the hitch is perfect and I can't say enough about the way etrailer handled every aspect of the sale and shipment, the only thing they could have done to make it simpler is to include a installer with every hide a goose and installation kit. I highly recommend them when it comes to price and service..... Thanks etrailer !!!! 62723

I really liked the product and it got to me in a timely maner. The only thing that was wrong was I was 4 lock nuts short (the ones that go the the safty chain u bolts) and 2 washers short. I dont live in town so I had to drive 30min to go get thoes few parts. There cheap parts so its not worth contacting the company and haveing to wait another week for them. It was easy to put in and works like a champ. 182398

This is a very good product, extremely heavy duty. I ordered it, came a few days later, I had already watched a video installation on line, read the instructions assemblied it in my living room (30 min.) the day it arrived, pretty simple. Great instructions, it took part of two afternoons for my truck installation in my driveway, myself, extremely sadisfied with etrailer.com and Hide-A-Goose. 183447

This is the second one I installed, both were simple for the beginner. The last one recieved was packaged very poorly and had extensive damage to the packaging although the product was fine. The only loss wass one nut which I replaced at the local hardware. All and all it can be installed in 3 hours but read directions CLOSELY with full understanding prior to starting. 171347

Tim, how did you get the head set up in place? I got the rails in and have yet to figure out how to slide the head into position. The problem I have is with the exhaust. One side runs right across were I need to put head

Actually very easy to install. On my 2015 Ford F-250 I do recommend that for the hole in the bed of the truck, make sure and go 3/16 of an inch in front of the dimple that is in the bed. I had to adjust a little after I drilled the hole, but it is still an easy install. 172396

Review from a similar Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose in Gooseneck

I will not install this ball in my truck. The Description said the round ball would reduce chatter. I have an older truck with the fold down type ball that has less play than this brand new one. I will be selling this and buying another brand of gooseneck hitch. 164098

Not bad. Pretty easy to install, the bed will need to ba raised about 1.5 inches whitch is not hard and the threads on the cross bars will need to be cleaned with a stiff wire brush prior to install. About 3 hours install time with 1 person. 3292

Watch the video and read the instructions. It was a pretty easy install for 1 person. A lift would definately made it easier, but I did it with a creeper. Took me about 3 hours from start to locking up the garage. 97577

  • Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Recommendation For a 2010 Dodge Ram Mega Cab
  • For a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 you can use B&W Turnover ball hitch # BWGNRK1309. An offset ball, # BWGNXA4685, is recommended to provide 4 more inches of clearance. I have included a link to a video review of this gooseneck trailer hitch for you. The B&W hitch fits 5-1/2, 6-1/2, and 8 foot bed models. For a 6-1/2 or 8 foot bed for a less expensive option you can use Blue Ox hitch # DH1105.

  • Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500
  • When installing an underbed gooseneck hitch on most trucks, a professional installer with all of the correct tools could install any of the kits in about 2-1/2 hours. For the average do-it-yourselfer at home you are looking at more like a half a day of work to install a hitch. All of the hitches for your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 do come with custom installation kits that make installing the hitch easier and eliminate as much drilling as possible. • Installation of the Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch, part # 9464-35, will require using a hole saw to drill into the bed of your Dodge Ram pickup. You will need to measure, mark, and drill a quarter inch hole, then use a hole saw to cut the hole out for the gooseneck ball. If you have a 6 foot bed, you will measure 44 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed and centered between the wheel wells.
