I have been an E trailer customer for over 8 years now. I was not surprised when my hitch showed up ahead of schedule and installed with ease. Great work from a great company. 471447

Wow, fast delivery and fits snug in the rails. Very impressed with adaptor and customer service. We use it to pull a 16 ft. Livestock trailer. Way better then a bumper pull for us. 472317

Works perfectly with my Reese 5th wheel rails. 545207

Very very pleased worked perfectly with my rail system and is super easy to install. Very fast delivery with just the free delivery ordered on 4/13 and received it 4/17.. only thing i will say is its a little taller then i thought it would be but on a non lifted truck there would be completely no problem my truck does have a lift so does make the trailer sit more unlevel then a flat bed mount would but im still extremely pleased with it... will definitely use this company again for anything i need... 497547

I only used this product one time -- and it worked great. For the money, you can't beat it! It is so much easier to handle than a fifth wheel hitch (and much cheaper too). Unfortunately for me, I realized during this one use that my old Ford V-10 wasn't adequately capable of pulling a large fifth wheel trailer (converted to a gooseneck) up steep or long hills , so I sold the truck for a new diesel. I later sold this hitch... The only problem is that the ball surface rusted after this one use. Otherwise, the paint and finish were perfect after a year outside. 597436

Somehow the hitch and the bolts made it but I am not sure how. The packaging was crazy. Holes in it then it had been wrapped and stapled with cardboard all around. The delivery company left it in a yard swing in my front yard. I just happen to see it. No note on the door or anything. I have no idea how long it had been there. This is no reflection on etrailer because you guys are great and were a wonderful help to me in getting me what I need. I really appreciate you all and will do business with you again and tell others to also! Thanks a million! 226129

This is the greatest hitch! Easy In - Easy Out! not so heavy that I cannot install or remove all by myself. It was the most perfect decision for us!

I bought the B&W turnover ball hitch for my pickup from these guys almost twelve years ago and it's nice to see they're still in business and still providing great service! This time I went for a Cur gooseneck adapter to go on the fifth wheel rails already in the truck we bought. I ordered on a Sunday and it was delivered midday on Wednesday in Vt. Very good packaging with a second outer box with handles to facilitate carrying the heavy hitch. The actual hitch plate looks really well made and the price is really great. I would highly recommend these guys for quality, speed, service and good value. 226114

I purchased the Curt Spyder Hitch for our GMC 3500 truck to pull a 24 ft stock combo horse trailer. The rails were already in the truck when we bought it. Easy to install and take off when not needed. Pulls great. etrailer had the best price, and has great service. Very pleased with product. We needed a hitch that was centered and not offset for our truck and this was the one. 457675

The item is the perfect match for my recievers in the bed of my truck. The customer service is fantactic and knowledgable of their products and the item was delivered a day earlier than expected. Purchasing this product saved me $500. A local retailer who tried to sell me a similar product for $800 just for the hitch. The box the hitch came in was torn open in four areas but luckily all the hardware was still in the box upon delivery and it dropped into the recievers with alittle banging from my mallet. Thanks. 52679

by:

The hitch is very good quality. I'm looking forward to having the option of using the goose neck hitch on the same rails as the fifth wheel hitch. The packaging was not sufficient for shipping. I received the package the day after ordering, which was great. The box was torn in several places and the Styrofoam was all busted up. The FedEx delivery guy noted the condition, and the hitch was in perfect shape. I'm glad there were no loose parts in the box. 200552

I have a 5th wheel RV trailer and purchased a Dump trailer. I wanted a Gooseneck Dump Trailer for the easy maneuverability and towing. This looked like a solution that would allow me to tow either with my truck. When it came I was impressed. It is extremely well made. Drops right into the rails for my normal 5th wheel hitch. Allows an easy transition between the normal pin box vs a Gooseneck type hookup. I couldn't be happier with its quality or performance. Purchased from etrailer as their price was the best I found. Delivery was fast. Overall doing business with etrailer was a positive experience for me. If all their products are this good I will buying other things from them in the future. 562121

Product was shipped and arrived very quickly! Install was as simple as putting a receiver in a hitch. Love it! 499934

Sturdy built product. Didnt exactly fall into my rail slots but a few whacks with the BFH while standing on it and it aligned. Great option for getting a gooseneck ball in truck bought with fifth wheel rails compared to putting whole new ball hitch in. Ordered 2-24 arrived 2-26. 760410

I have been very satisfied with my hitch! I use it to pull a horse trailer and have had no issues. It has done what I needed it too 759204

Well made and fit perfectly into existing 5th wheel rails. Have only used once but the capacity of the hitch exceeds my trucks tow rating so am not expecting any issues. Much easier and cheaper than other options when you already have 5th wheel rails. 758893

Ask the Experts about this Curt Gooseneck

  • What is Trailer Overhang Width When Determining if Trailer Has Clearance to Make Tight Turns
Basically I was referring to the width of the goosneck trailer nose. So measure the width of the trailer at the very front. This is the formula you referenced though. To determine if you can safely make tight turns, there is a formula you can follow. Measure the distance from the center of the gooseneck ball to the back of the truck cab. Call this measurement A. Next, measure the width of the trailer overhang and divide by 2 to get half, measurement B. If A is 4 inches or more than...

  • Curt Spyder Goosneck Trailer Hitch for 5th Wheel Rails Compatibility with 2006 Ram 2500 Short Bed
The Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, 25,000 lbs GTW # 16085 is a fit for any industry standard rails like those for your Curt Sliding 5th wheel hitch. You do not need to buy any more parts to make this function with your above bed 5th wheel rails on your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The safety chain loops are integrated and the pins and clips are also included. You will want to be aware of your limited turning clearance due to your short bed, but this hitch will work...

  • Is There a Gooseneck Ball That Will Mount On a Curt Fifth Wheel Frame Rails in a 04 Chevy Silverado
If you want a gooseneck adapter that would mount to the existing frame rails from the Curt Q5 20K 5th Wheel Hitch, part # 16126, in your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado I would recommend the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, 25,000 lbs GTW, part # 16085. The # 16085 will fit into and attach directly into your 5th wheel rails exactly like your Q5 Curt 20k 5th Wheel Hitch does. I have attached installation instructions in a link below for you to check out if you like.

  • Comparing the Curt Spyder and Pro Series Gooseneck Trailer Hitches for 5th Wheel Rails
First, I have included a link to all of the gooseneck hitches we carry that fit in 5th wheel rails. The Curt Spyder, # 16085, has a low profile design and it is heavier than the Pro Series plate style hitch # 49080. Besides that, there really are not a lot of differences. The big advantage that the Pro Series hitch has is that it can be oriented so that the ball is closer to the back of the truck for more clearance when towing with a short bed truck. For me, I like the Pro Series...

  • Where do 5th Wheel Rails Install on a 1997 Chevy K2500
The brackets will install onto the frame of your 1997 K2500, to determine exactly where you will need to find the correct location of the rails for the hitch and then install them in relation to where the rails will need to be installed. To determine the location of the rails you will need to measure 30-15/16 inches from the rear of the truck bed to the rear edge of the rear hitch rail if you have an 8 ft bed and 26-3/16 inches if you have a short bed. Check out the installation instructions...

I have attached a photo showing some basic dimensions of this hitch for your convenience. • Troubleshooting Gooseneck Hitch that Won't Lock onto 2-5/16 inch Ball
It really sounds like your gooseneck hitch is designed for a 3 inch gooseneck ball. I know you said that you attached to your friends B and W hitch, but B and W offers a 3 inch ball # BWGNXA2025. The 3 inch setup is less common but it is still seen out there. If your trailer is larger it is very possible that you need a 3 inch ball. Which there are no adapters like the Spyder that have 3 inch balls. This would call for the replacement of your coupler or the install of a gooseneck hitch...

The Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch, # 16085, is compatible with the Reese 5th wheel rails you have. I have included a link to the installation details for this hitch for you to view. We do have several options for gooseneck trailer hitches that fit in 5th wheel rails. The most economical is Pro Series 25K Gooseneck Plate, # 49080. The benefit of this hitch is that it can be mounted with the ball closer to the rear of the truck to provide an offset if you have a short bed truck....

  • Can Short Bed Trucks Tow Gooseneck Trailers
The one really big downside to gooseneck towing is that there isn't a great solution for short bed truck clearance unlike fifth wheel towing. With fifth wheel hitches you can use a slider hitch and have the clearance issue handled. With gooseneck towing there isn't really anything you can do. The only way it's possible is if the nose of the gooseneck trailer is tapered to help with the turning clearance. The Spyder part # 16085 does fit industry standard fifth wheel rails like you have...

Both the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch For Fifth Wheel Rails, Item # 16085, and the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch For Fifth Wheel Rails, Item # 16055, will work well for you. They both have a weight capacity of 25,000-lbs and a vertical load limit of 6,250-lbs. The Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, part # 16085 does have safety chain holders, but it is really not advisable to use an adapter with an adapter. The only alternative I can recommend is to remove the # RP30154 from the bed of the truck when you want to use the gooseneck hitch. You could then use the gooseneck kit like part # RP30140. I have attached a photo that shows where they are located on the # 16085. I have also attached a product review video for...

  • Gooseneck Neck Trailer Rides Too High in the Front
All of the gooseneck hitches that fit 5th wheel rails are going to be roughly the same height and won't lower the trailer enough to tow it level. But there is an alternative. You may be able to use an over/under conversion kit or otherwise raise the height at the back of the trailer. You can use an over/under conversion kit if: The trailer leaf spring stack is currently mounted under the axles The trailer uses double-eye springs And the trailer has 2-3/8 inch or 3 inch diameter...

  • Will the Curt Spyder 5th Wheel Rail to Gooseneck Hitch Adapter Fit 5th Wheel Rails in Silverado
The Curt Spyder gooseneck hitch # 16085 will fit in Valley, Draw-Tite, Reese, Hidden Hitch, Husky and Curt Fifth Wheel Rails. It has not been tested in any other brand. But you can determine if it will fit by looking at the measurements in the picture I have provided of the standard rails. All of the manufacturers above use the same style and measurement rails. If yours match up then you can use the Spyder.

  • Compatibility of Curt Spyder Gooseneck Adapter with Husky Fifth Wheel Rails
The Curt Spyder Gooseneck Adapter Plate is compatible with Valley fifth wheel install rails, and Husky rails were manufactured by Valley. It is a fairly safe bet that the Adapter Plate will most likely be compatible with your rails. You can confirm this by comparing the spacing of the slots on your existing rails to those shown in the photo I provided. If the center-to-center dimension of the mounting slots is 20-1/2 inches, the Curt Spyder would indeed work with your existing rails.

What you will need to do is remove the Airsafe Airbox 5th wheel hitch you have installed in the rails of your truck and then install the Curt Spyder part # 16085 in the rails and you would have a gooseneck hitch ball to tow a gooseneck hitch.

  • Comparing the Curt Spyder and Pro Series Gooseneck Hitches for 5th Wheel Rails
The Curt Spyder gooseneck hitch that fits in 5th wheel rails # 16085 is just a different design than the plates such as # 49080. The Spyder cannot be mounted with an offset (with the ball closer to the tailgate) but since you have a long bed truck you would not need the offset for turning clearance. The Pro Series Gooseneck plate, # 49080, has the ball welded closer to one end than the other so it can be mounted with an offset. Both types of hitches have places to attach safety cables....

Good news, I have a solution for your 5th Wheel Base Rails from the Lil Rocker. Since the Lil Rocker only has the middle set of slots on the rails, the gooseneck adapter tabs must fit a 20-1/2 inch spread on the same rail for it to work. The Curt Spyder # 16085 does that, and I like it because the u-bolts are stored below the unit. I have linked all the plates we offer for your convenience.
