With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance.

Easy-to-Remove, Simple-to-Store Hitch Ball

The durable steel hitch ball included with the Turnoverball system secures in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin that is incorporated into the hitch. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in the bed of your truck. Then rotate the handle in your truck bed until the latch engages. When the latch is engaged, the spring-loaded pin will be inserted all the way through the base of the hitch ball, forming a strong, solid connection and ensuring absolute security when you're towing.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Operation

When you're done towing, remove the hitch ball by using the in-bed handle to disengage the latch. Remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.

Unlike typical gooseneck balls - which have round bases - the Turnoverball hitch ball is designed with a square base. This makes latching the ball in the hitch easier because the base won't rotate inside of the hitch like a round base might, so lining the pin up is a snap. The base of the ball also fits tightly within the ball hole during storage. Because only the corners of the base contact the sides of the socket, any dirt or grime that gets into the hitch will fall through the socket, thus helping to prevent any buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.

Simple, Custom Installation

This hitch is custom designed for your vehicle. The included mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Accessories

B&W makes it easy to tow just about anything. With the many adapters and accessories available, the Turnoverball can be made to work with almost any gooseneck trailer. Hitch balls are available that have a built-in rise, an offset, and even a different connection type. Add on the Companion fifth-wheel hitch - which attaches directly to the Turnoverball with no other parts required - and you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer. Even a truck bed utility rack is available so that you can easily haul ladders and lumber with the load placed on the hitch (and therefore your truck's frame) instead of your bed rails.

Video Transcript for B and W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Ram 1500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 RAM 1500, we're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install B&W turnball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch, part number BWGNRK1309. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. It's going to be a complete underbed system. Only thing that's going to be in the bed of the truck is your safety chain U-bolts. This hitch is not going to require any welding or drilling. It's going to come with all the necessary hardware to get it installed, and it's going to have a nice gray powder coat finish to resist any rust or corrosion. You're going to have a single spring-loaded safety pin, and your U-bolts for your safety chain hookups in the bed of your truck are also going to be spring-loaded.

That's going to help when not in use, to keep them nice and close down inside the corrugation. You can see our safety chain U-bolts fit nicely in the lower corrugation, and our center section doesn't come up any higher than the raised corrugation. That's given us total bed access, and what's nice about this hitch is instead of having the pin release lever on the side in the fender well, it's actually in the bed of the truck. It's going to come with this little tool right here. You simply put it in and turn it to release it. Your hitch is going to come with a two and five sixteenths ball, and you can see it's squared, but the corners are rounded.

This is to keep any dirt and debris from getting stuck inside, and you can see it could be mounted in any direction. Simply drop it into place, lock our pin in. When not in use, it's got a little handle on the bottom. Simply turn it over, drop it right back down in, and lock it into place. This gives you storage for your ball.

That's what makes it nice to have your pin release in the bed of the truck rather than in the fender well, because when you're storing your ball or getting ready to use the ball, you can do everything from right here rather than to have to get out to either close or open up the pin. Now, your ball's going to have a 7,500 pound vertical load limit, which is straight up and down on the ball, and have a 30,000 pound max gross towing trailer weight. Now, as far as the installation goes, it is fairly straightforward. The only holes that need to be drilled are going to be right here in the bed of the truck. It's going to come with all necessary hardware. Let me show you how to get that done now.First thing we need to do to start our installation is we need to measure for our hole in the bed of our truck.

You need to make sure you follow the instructions for the bed size that you have. Also, keep in mind if you have a plastic bed liner, you can either take it out or you're going to have to cut that section out of there. If you have a spray-in bed liner, depending on how thick it is, you're going to need to take into account and add that onto the measurement. We'll measure from the back edge of our bed, make sure you don't go from the tailgate, to our measurement in the instructions. I'll just put a small dot.And then what we need to do is we're going to go in between our wheel wells and center that. We'll see. Next thing we want to do, we're going to drill a small pilot hole, and you can use any size small drill bit for the pilot hole. We're going to move up to a four inch hole saw bit. Now, you can run this straight down on the bed if you want. One thing that we found that helps, we took a piece of plywood, put a four inch hole in it. This is going to help keep your blade from kicking around. It's a good, clean cut. All I have to do is clean up our shavings. Now, we're going to take a file and we're just going to go around the hole and knock off the burr. And what I suggest, because we have open metal, you take some spray paint and you use the same color as the bed, or a clear coat, and cover up that bare metal to prevent any rusting down the road. Our pin release handle is going to come in through the bed right here on the top. What we need to do is, we need to measure that. We need to follow directions precisely. Our hole's going to be in this area, so I'm going to start in this lower corrugation. We're going to measure per the instructions, per our bed size. Then what I need to do, I'm going to measure from the center this way four and three quarters. And then from the center this way, two and three quarters. You can see our two and three quarter is here. Center line.Next, we're going to take a three quarter inch pole saw, unless you have a drill bit that's three quarter inch, and we're going to drill out the hole there. We're just going to do the same process that we did with this hole; go ahead and clean up our shavings, make sure we get any burrs off, and then we'll paint that bare metal.Next thing we need to do is, we need to remove our wheel well liners. It's not necessary. However, it will make it a little bit easier when putting the cross members on the frame of the truck. So, we'll go ahead and start with an eight millimeter socket. We're going to have some eight millimeter bolts that we need to remove. You're going to have two that's on the inside wall. And we're going to have one underneath. If you have this trim panel on, you're going to have one here. We'll just start slowly pulling out our edge like this. Just like that, and we'll just leave it to sit right on top of the wheel for now. We're going to do that same thing to the other side.Next, we're going to take one of our bolts. We want to be able to hand thread this in. Sometimes, when they put the powder coat on these, it gets down in those threads, and we want to make sure that that's clean so we don't get a cross thread issue. Next, we're going to take a panel tool like this, or you can use a flat head screwdriver, and you see how this wire . Now, we're on the driver's side. This wire that runs up on top of the frame, our cross members, one of them has to fit here, and the other one fits in front. So, we're going to need to remove this, the fasteners, so we can move this out of the way. We'll have one here on the outside of the frame.Again, we're on the driver's side. Pop that off. Then we're going to have one right up here. Once you get your wiring unclipped and loosened up, you see that air tube right there That's also going to have to be removed. This air tube, you can see it's just a slide clip. You just slide it off. We'll let that hang. And this cross member here, that tube actually runs right on the inside of it. We want to go ahead and remove that from there also. I'll just let this hang for now.So, our wiring that ran across our driver's side frame rail runs right across this cross member here. It's fastened by little plastic clips that just sit right in the top of this cross member. We want to pull this up. We want our wiring to sit in this gap, and make sure that it's not going to get pinched when we put our cross piece in for our hitch. So we'll just pull these out the same way. Pull it down in there like that.Next, we're going to put this rear cross member in for our hitch. You can see it's got a notch in it. What we want is we want it to sit like this, the notch facing the back of the vehicle. Where we're going to put it in is on our passenger side. Go ahead and pull off our liner. We'll set that aside here. You see where our spring is We want this hole right here on our frame. So again, we want the notch to the back. We're just going to slide it in like this.Next, we're going to take the cross beam for our hitch, and our wiring that we took off, that notch, the wiring is actually going to run through there. So, when we get it back, we're going to slide it over top of this cross member, and then we're going to flip it where the notch is facing down and the wiring is running through it. May be a little bit hard to see. Rotate that. You can see here. Our wiring is running through that notch, and this cross piece is sitting on the cross member for the frame of the vehicle. We'll just slide this all the way back. We're just going to leave it sitting like that for now.Next, we're going to install our front cross member. You can see it's a piece of angled steel, one side that's got holes in it. What we're going to do is, we want the V to face down, holes towards the back of the truck. We're going to go right up between our suspension and our shaft. Feed it just like that. We're going to go up on top of our driver's side frame rail, and then expand it to our passenger side. Just like that. Push it back, and rotate it up.Next, we're going to put in our center section. Before we do that, I want to point out something, because it might be kind of hard to see once we're in there. Once we get it up there, we're going to put hardware in to attach it to the back cross member that we previously installed. You can see there's five holes here. We're only going to be putting it in the two end holes and this very center one. When we put it up, you can see the distance from this hole to the edge is shorter on one side. This is going to be towards the front of the vehicle. We're going to be using half inch by two and a quarter inch long hex bolt with a lock washer, and then a flat washer on top like this. So, we'll go ahead and set three of them up like that. Now, we'll get our center section in place. Now, because of our exhaust, the way it is, we're going to take the center section. We're going to flip it like this. We're going to slide it in over top of our exhaust this way, it's towards the front of the vehicle. Then we're going to take this edge and slide it up and over, like that. Now, what we want to do is we want to get it lined up with our hole that we have cut in the bed of the truck.Next thing we need to do is come up to the bed of our truck and we need to pull our center section up. If you don't have a lifting device, which most people may not have, like a hoist for motor or something like that, what you can do is grab a few blocks of wood. You just want to make sure it's going to be higher than the bed of the truck here, where your strap's going to be going. Let me show you how I'm going to do it if you're by yourself. Both hooks, you're going to hook them right onto the pin. We're going to take just a two by four. We'll run it across like this, pull it up tight. Now it's holding it in place. You can go down, put your hardware in place just like that.Next, we'll take our two and a quarter inch bolt. You want to make sure that the head is facing towards the rear of the truck. We'll slide it through like that. Then we're going to put on our flat washer, our lock washer, and then our nut. We're just going to hand tighten for now. For our instruction, it says to only install the two center bolts from our center section into our front cross member. You see this plate right here that goes to our hitch pin. This bolt will not slide in, so now since we have a bolt in here, we have it attached to the back. We're going to go up top. We're going to loosen that so we can slide that pin out to move this plate to get our bolt in place. Now, you can see our hitch is staying in place now that we removed our strap and removed our boards. Now what we need to do is we need to slide our pin over, so we can get our other hardware. Slide it down like that. Now, go underneath and get this bolt installed. Again, we're only hand tightening these for now. inaudible 00:13:36 U-bolt. Now we're going to install these. You have your coil spring here. We want to go in front of it, but we want to stay inside the cup. We're going to take our U-bolt. We want to stay inside the cup. We're going to go in front of the spring. We're going to put it right around our frame rail. Next, we're going to install our passenger side inside side plate. You look how it's kind of a weird angle. You got two holes here, and you got two holes here. This is actually going to be installed like this, inside the frame rail. The U-bolt that we put in is going to go through these two holes. These two holes are going to line up with our center section and cross members. So, what we'll do is we'll take our U-bolt. We're going to slide it out to where the ends of the threaded part of the bolt is, even with the inside edge of the frame. We'll slide this into place, and then slide our U-bolt into this.Slide our U-bolt out like this, and slide the center section. There it is. Piece up, line up our hole, and slide our U-bolt into place. We'll secure it into place with a lock washer and then a nut. On the driver's side, we're going to have two plates like this. These are actually going to be combined. This one's going to go in first, then this one's going to go on top. Essentially, when we're done, they're going to sit like this. Because we have air lines, fuel lines, and everything else over there, that's why these are cut out like this. So, let's get our first one in place.Get my U-bolt slid back, and to kind of maneuver this so that I can get it up against my hitch. Want to line up our U-bolt just like that. We're just going to set it there for now. Slide this up. Going to use the same combination of hardware; a lock washer and then a nut. Next, we're going to take two of our one and a half inch hex bolts, and we're going to secure our two side plates together. We'll slide one in these two holes. On the other side, we'll put a lock washer and a nut.As you can see here, I have the head of the bolt toward the center of the vehicle or towards the front of the vehicle, and we'll put the nut on the outside. Nut and lock washer. We'll just hand tighten for now. Next, we're going to take one of our two and a quarter inch bolts. We're going to put on a flat washer. We're going to feed it from the inside of our center section, and we want it out through our side bracket. Once we get it through, we'll put on a flat washer, a lock washer and a nut. And we'll do that same thing with the other side. Now, we'll take another one of our one and a half inch bolts. We're going to come from the inside, and it's going to go on the outside hole. You're going to do that same thing on the other side. So, we have one more to put in, and it's right behind these hard lines up in here. I can't get my hand up in there to get the bolt in, so what I did is I took a piece of tape and I just taped a skinny screwdriver around the head of the bolt, just to hold that on there enough till I get the nut and bolt on the other side. Then I can pull the screwdriver and tape off. We'll use the same combination here.Next, we're going to install . We're going to have a bolt and a plate, two of them. One's going to go here, one's going to go here. You're going to have to maneuver these around a little bit to get them in there, but they will go. There's an open section right up in here. This hole inside is open. So we take it and slide it in. Kind of slide the end of the bolt up in there. Just kind of rotate it around until you get it to fall through. This one, I think I'm going to wait. I'm going to keep it out for now, and just set it in there. You notice our dual exhaust. We're going to have a bracket we have to put in here. Looks like this. Now, in the instructions, they tell you maybe either to take down the exhaust on the one side there. I'm going to try to do it without it. I'm going to slide this . You can see there's three tabs. We want them facing down. These are going to go up to the inside of our hitch, our center section. We're going to kind of slide this up in here like this. So, I'll get my two one and a half inch bolts, and I'll attach this to the inside of the center section first. That'll hold it in place. Now we can rotate our bolt inaudible 00:18:59 there, and we'll have a large flange nut for each one. So what I determined is, my nut is not going to fit up in there, and I can't move this anywhere with my exhaust pipe. So, I'm going to have to move this in order to torque this bolt down. So I'm going to pull this hanger, pull it off of this hanger, and then pull it off the most rear hanger. That should give me enough room to move it so I can get a socket on it.I want to spray just a little bit of silicone spray, just some to help them slide off a little bit easier. We'll take our crowbar. We're going to wedge it right up in between them like this. You're going to kind of push up on one and down on the other, and it's actually going to catch the lip to give you enough to pop that off, just like that. As far as this front hanger, it's just two long pins. You can just take the bottom with your hand and just push it off. It comes off pretty easy. Now that we have all of our hardware installed, we're going to go ahead and tighten and torque all of it. We're going to start with our two flange nuts in the back, and we're going to torque those to the specifications in the instructions. We're using a fifteen sixteenths socket to do that. Next, we're going to tighten our center section to our rear cross member. We're using a nineteen millimeter socket. We're going to repeat that for all remaining hardware, attaching our center section to our cross member.Next, we're going to tighten and torque our center section to our front cross member. Next, we're going to torque our U-bolts. What you want to do here is not just tighten one end; we're going to alternate. We'll do five or six turns on one side, and then we'll go to the other end. Once you get one side done, you're going to do the same thing to the U-bolt on the other side. Next, we're going to tighten our two side pipes together, and then torque them to the specifications. This is one with a nut and a bolt, so you may need to use a wrench on the other side if the head of the bolt is spinning. Now we need to drill inaudible 00:21:28 for our safety chains. It's going to be advisable to get a long drill bit. Over on the driver's side, there's quite a few things that are in the way, and you're not going to be able to get a drill up in there. We're going to take a hole punch, and we're going to mark the center of each one. Then we're going to take just a small long drill bit. We want to get our hole started from down here first. Next thing I'm going to do is I'm going to come up to the bed of the truck, and I'm going to drill them out the rest of the way. Now, per the instructions, they're going to be drilled out to a half inch. If you have a half inch drill bit, you can use it to drill these out the rest of the way. Keep in mind, when you're coming up from the bottom, the hole may not be exactly centered. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to use a step bit to do it. That's what we want. We want them to move freely. Once we're done doing the other side, we'll go ahead and clean them off with a small file, and then we'll spray them down with some black paint to cover up the bare metal.Go ahead and drop our U-bolts in our holes. You're going to take your Christmas tree-like spring. You want this wide end going up towards the bottom of the bed like that. We'll go over our U-bolt, then we'll add on our nut, and we'll do the same thing with this one here. Then we'll tighten them down just where the U-bolt is flush with the bottom of the nut. 19 millimeter socket. We're going to do the same thing to the other side. So, now we need to reinstall our air tube here. Again, these clips are just pop in clips, so I'm going to put one here. We're going to relocate it onto this cross member. Do something like this. You just want to make sure, keep in mind that your axle moves, so you want to have enough so that it doesn't pull it apart. Once you have your airline installed, reinstall your exhaust, your spare tire, your fender liners, and then you're ready to do. And that'll do it for our look at and installation on the B&W turnball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch, part number BWGNRK1309 on our 2017 RAM 1500.

B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs - BWGNRK1309

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (789 Customer Reviews)

Install this heavy-duty hitch on your vehicle so that you can securely tow your gooseneck trailer. Store the removable ball upside down in the hitch when you aren't towing to get complete bed access. Square ball base won't turn in hitch.

The B&W turnover ball hitch is worth every penny! It's built solid and fits perfectly! The instructions are detailed and easy to follow! I've been using it in my Ram 1500 to haul a 3 horse slant load trailer and couldn't be happier! I absolutely love the relocation of the ball release to the inside of the bed! I have a crew cab, so I'm going to purchase a B&W extension so that I can have full clearance in tight turns and would suggest ordering that with your hitch. 334473

Talk about putting 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag! Engineering for this goose neck hitch is excellent. Everything fits perfectly and the instructions are very good. One word of advice, where the instructions direct you to remove the plug fasteners holding the wiring harness on the rear cross member, remove them. If you cut them off it leaves a small piece of plastic protruding which causes the mounting holes in the hitch to misalign. The hitch can be installed by one person but after installing mine I highly recommend two. The instructions suggest a motor lift, overhead lift or similar to lift and hold the center section of the hitch in place. I would say that it is essential. The first thing that you will do is drill the 4 inch hole in the bed, when all parts are in place you will need to pull the center section up into the hole that you drilled and then tighten the other parts to the center section. You will need a couple of things that most people don't have laying around, two hole saws, a 4" and a 3/4". You should also consider picking up a 24" long 7/16" bit. You will need this for drilling the pilot holes for the safety chain attachments from underneath the truck bed. An excellent product with instructions written for the first time installer in mind. 183311

Just installed in about 3.5 hours. Was kinda difficult just crawling around on the ground. Everything pieced together just fine, however, the driver side of the unit was kinda hard to put together, might've been my bigger gas tank. Thanks to the installation video it made it loads easier to understand. My 2013 Ram 1500 already hauled my 16' goose neck stock trailer around for the fun. 581001

First and foremost, the B&W is the Rolls Royce of Gooseneck hitches. It installs well, and is stout! No need for any performance or quality worries. Install was done in an afternoon, if you have a lift it would cut your time in half. Rolling around underneath the truck is hard on even a 46 year old, that's not B&W's fault! Very nice product! Thank you! 355657

Great product and instructions were easy to follow. Prompt shipping and hitch delivered in secure boxes with no issues. Clean install in my Ford F-350 dually. It took about 6 hours (taking my time) doing it myself with a floor jack and the necessary tools. Could be done a lot faster with two people. Also, just cut the notch (you'll see what I'm talking about in the instructions), but not according to the measurements given. Use the cross member as a cutting guide. It will make the install a lot easier. etrailer is awesome! 403541

The hitch works great and installing the hitch wasn't bad at all even for just one person. The instructions were clear and the pictures they included were helpful. The only thing I had a problem with was one of the boxes were damaged and one of the small brackets were slightly bent, but I didn't need it anyways b/c it was for the diesel models and mine is a gas. I don't blame etrailer or B&W for that. Maybe B&W could use heavier boxes. All in all I had a good experience. etrailer.com was easy and great to buy from and B&W has a great product. 454700

Was a fairly easy install in both a Ram Mega Cab 3500 and a Ford F-350. Cutting the hole in the bed was the most intimidating part, but as long as you measure just as the directions tell you, it turns out seamless. This is the only way to go if you need a gooseneck hitch! 598954

I purchased the B & W turnover ball hitch from E Trailer for my 2006 Ford F250 SuperDuty. Jan in customer service was very helpful. I received the hitch within 2 days. My wife and I installed it according to the instructions and installation video on their website. E trailer really did their homework on the installation of their hitches. We got the hitch insatlled with minimal problems. All you have to do is follow the video/instuctions. I am very pleased with the hitch and would recommend ETrailer and the B&W hitch to anyone who tows. I tow a 5th wheel with a Ranch Hitch Gooseneck adapter. Now I dont have to deal with the 5th wheel hitch in the bed of my truck. I will continue to purchase other towing accessories from ETrailer. A wonderful experience. 163592

Great hitch and like it. Until I used the drop in fifth wheel plate by B&W (RVK3500). There is a bolt u have tighten up to secure the hitch down. When I tightened it to 60 foot pounds it bent the main pin in the hitch. After fighting the pin to release now the pin is bent. And i cant use the gooseneck ball. And I can't remove the pin to replace it unless I remove the hitch. So long story short the gooseneck plate is good and works great as a gooseneck. But don't buy it planning to use the fifth wheel plate. Won't buy that again. 491492

Comments

After speaking with one of our contacts in the Tech Services department at B and W and was told that really the only way the ball retention pin can get bent is if its not slid fully into place when that draw-down bolt is torqued down. Please call us if you have further questions.

This was my Second Hitch to order from etrailer. The first was on my 2012 Ford Transit Connect. This time was on my newly purchased 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel truck. It did not have the Goosneck Hitch and I have Horses and use a Trailer to transport them. Instead of paying Much More to have the hitch put in, I elected to do it myself. I looked at the Video and read the instructions Twice before starting. Since I am almost 75, I need the help of my son. While he was at work, I did most of the work myself. When he got off work, we finished the job. I will continue to purchase from etrailer. The items fit Perfectly and instructions are Great. In the picture, is Sophie, my dog which watched as we worked. 405070

The E-trailer videos and instuctions are great! I would suggest going ahead and removing the spare tire heat shield to make life easier with the torque wrench and when drilling the safety chain holes. The other item I am glad I caught before installing my hitch is the size of the hole they want you to use. B&W suggest a 3-1/2" hole and provide a plastic spacer to kinda hide the gap, I didn't like the idea of how this was going to look. I still installed the plastic spacer to support the bed around the hole, but I used a 3-1/4" hole saw and very lightly filed the edges for a much better fit. (Just make sure you hit your pilot hole location.) Test fit the hitch from the top side when checking the hole size. When installing, tighten the bolts to where the hitch just starts to make contact with the frame and then go top side and check hitch/hole alignment. Tap the hitch around with a mallet if you need to line it up with the hole. (Once the hitch was tight it didn't protrude through the bed anyways, so the hole could have been small and still worked). After removing the exhaust hanger, I used a ratchet strap to pull the tail pipe towards the spring to allow access to drill the passenger side safety hook holes. Another tip, I used a piece of rope tied to the ball retaining pin and fed it up through the hole in the bed. My 11 year old son was able to hold it in place this way while I started the bolts. I am happy with the end results and it looks great! The one thing I feel could be better is how far the ball retaining pin protrudes into the second side of the hitch housing, on mine I only have about 1/4" into the second side. I would feel better with 3/8"-1/2" engagement. 302603

How good is free shipping, our Order was placed about 8pm est on Thursday Jan 19th, and arrived Jan 25th before I returned from work at 4pm. Just sold the F-150 I installed the previous B&W fifth wheel hide a ball hitch in. Love this hitch set up, after arriving at a campground and unhooking the camper I have FULL use of the truck bed. Install of round two begins in the morning, directions are simple and easy to understand. George J from E-trailer has been keeping me updated with information about my delivery status and made himself available had I had any questions. Wife and I have been camping for about four years, on our second RV and now our third truck and have been totally satisfied ordering everything we needed from E-trailer over that time, (about 18-20 orders to date) adding to the great products E-trailer provides is the HOW TO DIY videos on many products. 335458

The hitch and controller was installed on a 2002 Chevy 2500HD. It took roughly 15 min to install the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller, plug it in and program it. As far as the B&W Turnover Ball Hitch, I cut the hole in the bed and cut the heat shield out the day before while I was waiting for the hitch to arrive. The next day my parts arrived, I laid out all the parts to make sure everything was there and then started the install. I didn't want to cut the 1"x1/2" notch out of my fender well to get the angle iron in so I spent about 15 min. trying to get it up on top the frame from underneath the truck. A waste of time. Do like the instructions say, cut the notch and slide it straight across the top of the frame. It will save time and aggravation. After getting both braces in place I ran a piece of rope down thru the hole and pulled the hitch plate up into place and tied it off. I installed all the bolts finger tight, put the side plates on and tightened everything up. It looks nice and I saved myself a $435.00 installation fee. With out a lift and without taking my rear tires off it took about 3 1/2 hrs. to install by myself. The only thing I want to say to B&W is don't place the heavy metal hitch parts on the booklet with the packets of Lithium Grease in it, they bust as the picture shows. Last but not least, thank you Sherry for all your help with my order and getting it to me quick in such short notice. I really appreciated it. 358380

Had similar hitch in my Dodge 2500 for towing a 3-horse horse trailer. I liked it so when I decided to put a gooseneck hitch in my 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty 4WD I went with B&W again. I have used etrailer before; liked their support and could't find a better deal. Installation instructions were clear and an online video of installation on a 2003 Ford was much like mine. Gave me all the confidence I needed for a DIY install. I my case I didn't have a rack which would have made life easier. I had all the tools and did the job without needing to cut the bed ridge and without removing the rear tires or dropping the spare (couldn't find the $#@! jack handle that fits the mechanism). It took about 3 hours. With a rack and no tires it'd get done in under 2 hours for sure. 544034

Quality product. Install is relatively easy with the exception of the safety chain holes. It's pretty impossible to maneuver a drill from underneath with the exhaust pipe in the way. Before installing, I made a plywood template of the 4 inch hole and safety chain holes. I was then able to drill the holes from the bed. It made it easy. 364613

Ordered this 1313 for my 2004 Dodge 3500, converting from 5th wheel to gooseneck, but the trailer I ordered had a "reservation deadline" i.e. don't pick it up by this date and we sell it someone else...) so I needed the hitch right away, it arrived two days before expected and now I am ahead of schedule. Your online installation pictures and videos are excellent and helped me make my buying decision. Why buy from [other online retailer] when you can get it all here at etrailer with great support and fast service? A very nice well built hitch. My son and I installed this hitch in 3.5 hours. The instructions were a little vague, but the video that etrailer provided for a 2001 GMC Crew Cab with a short bed, was similar to my 2003, an was very helpful. We removed the rear wheels, and had to cutout a section of heat shield, and cut a v shape in the bed. We didn't have to touch the exhaust, like the video instructed. The braces were a little tight to get in place, but weren't that difficult. We used a tractor, and chain to hold tension on the hitch while we bolted it together. All said and done, I would say make it a 2 man job, and you will be pleased with the results.... 352515

I ordered this hitch a year ago, customer service called me to verify the model of my truck and installed my self on a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500hd classic the hitch by far has been the best hitch I’ve owned. I have a 32 foot gosseneck I pull and it’s easy to hook up and holds the weight. The springs on the safety chains still work like it’s new and the best part is if I just need the bed I can pull the pin and filp the ball and have the whole bed 546170

This is a high quality, basically bolt in product that fits well and has all ample hardware. The video is priceless and must be watched since it answers many questions otherwise. Spare tire removal is basically mandatory but we did leave rear wheels on. Only a problem when torqueing the side frame bolts. Exhaust is problematic at least for the Duramax. We did loosen some rubber hangers and with 2 people, were able to pull down on the exhaust to slip the center section in. The answer to the drilling for passenger side safety chain hooks is correct. Due to the exhaust pipe, you either punch a small drill hole at an angle from the bottom and enlarge it from the top or measure from the top only (less accurate). We drilled from bottom and enlarged it, which was perfect. Drilling a 4" hole in the bed of a brand new truck is scariest part! Measure twice, cut once, be accurate and with a spray in bed liner, its almost the exact same rear measurement (mine was tight getting the center section through the bed after allowing for the spray in product about 1/8"). Otherwise drill a 4 1/8" or 4 1/4" hole. On GM, the center (width about 25 1/2") is centered on the middle bed high slot, not the lower one. Also, shipping, emails, communications etc. were all outstanding. 330727

  • The brackets that you have referenced, # RP58186, are only part of a 5th wheel hitch installation kit. If you have a gooseneck trailer, you are going to need a gooseneck trailer hitch, not a 5th wheel hitch. For a 5-1/2 foot bed the only option is # BWGNRK1309. The installation kit is included. An offset ball, # BWGNXA4685, is recommended to provide 4 more inches of clearance. A Sidewinder is for a 5th wheel trailer, not a gooseneck trailer. It replaces the pin box on a 5th wheel trailer...

  • B&W Gooseneck Hitch Fit for 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 5-1/2 ft Bed
  • Gooseneck hitch fits for the 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel are limited to those trucks that do NOT have the OEM air suspension system. All bed lengths, 5-1/2-foot, 6-foot and 8-foot, have this same fit limitation regarding the air suspension. This was not the case with the 2015 model year. B&W Gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1309 is a confirmed fit for your truck so long as it does not have the air suspension. Since you have the short bed you may need to use B&W's Offset Ball # BWGNXA4685 which will...

This is an excellent gooseneck hitch that is leading the industry, and is the only currently confirmed fit for your truck with the factory air suspension. This will give you a clean bed when not in use and stored. For this short a bed, you may want to look at the 4"...

  • Compatibility of Gooseneck Hitch Adapter on 5-1/2 Foot Bed
  • The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset - 12" to 16" Tall # CAB-C5GX1216 is not recommended for beds smaller than 6 foot by the manufacturer because of the turning radius. It does have an offset of 7-1/2 inches from ball to kingpin centers, so you will need to determine if you want to take that risk since you won't need to make a 90 degree turn. The only gooseneck we have for your 5-1/2 foot bed with air suspension is the B&W # BWGNRK1309. So for your...

  • How to Install Curt Flat Plate Gooseneck Hitch C65500 on 2009 Ram 1500
  • The Curt Flat Plate Gooseneck Hitch # C65500 requires either a universal Rail Kit # C61502 or other custom-fabricated under-bed reinforcement in order to meet its rated capacity of 30K. The installation kit will work in older trucks only but other installation methods are possible. You can have an under-bed steel plate welded to the frame and then bolt the hitch plate to it but you cannot simply bolt the plate directly to the frame. The hitch plate requires under-bed reinforcement even...

  • There is only one gooseneck hitch that will fit a 2016 Ram 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed, the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1309. This is a heavy duty hitch with a 30,000 lb towing limit, 7,500 lb vertical load limit, uses a 2-5/16 hitch ball and uses an in-bed latching mechanism to secure and release ball. I've added a link to a video review of this hitch for you to take a look at.

  • Options for Towing 5th Wheel Trailer with 2016 Ram 1500 Longhorn with Factory Air Suspension
  • Because your 2016 Ram 1500 Longhorn has factory air suspension, your best option to tow a 5th wheel trailer is to install a gooseneck hitch and use an adapter to tow your 5th wheel. At this time (May 2016), we do not have any 5th wheel base rails and installation kits that are compatible with the factory air suspension. Unfortunately, this means we have no solution for you to use your existing Reese 5th wheel hitch. The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation...

  • The B and W Goosenck Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck hitch that you referenced # BWGNRK1394 is indeed a fit for the 1998 2500 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed, and was considered a fit for the 1994 - 2001 Dodge Rams with either a 6 foot bed or an 8 foot bed. It also fit the 2000-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 6 and 8 foot bed trucks. Unfortunately, this hitch is not confirmed as a fit for your 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 6 foot bed. • Gooseneck Hitch for 2013 Ram 1500 with Rambox, 6-1/2-Foot Bed and Air Suspension
  • Short-bed Ram trucks with the Rambox feature are not ideal for 5th wheel towing due to the reduced clearance inside the bed, between the Rambox and the trailer pin box, but some have done it. Sometimes such setups require a Sidewinder replacement pin box on the trailer which moves the actual pivot point to the rear by 22-inches. We do offer the B&W gooseneck hitch kit # BWGNRK1309 which fits your 1500 with 6-1/2-foot bed and air suspension package. This is reviewed in the linked video....
