With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance.

Easy-to-Remove, Simple-to-Store Hitch Ball

The durable steel hitch ball included with the Turnoverball system secures in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin that is incorporated into the end of the operating handle. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in the bed of your truck. Then rotate the handle in your driver's-side wheel well counterclockwise until the latch engages. When the latch is engaged, the spring-loaded pin on the end of the handle will be inserted all the way through the base of the hitch ball, forming a strong, solid connection and ensuring absolute security when you're towing.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Operation

When you're done towing, remove the hitch ball by simply pulling the handle out as far as it will go and then rotating it clockwise until it unlatches. Remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.

Unlike typical gooseneck balls - which have round bases - the Turnoverball hitch ball is designed with a square base. This makes latching the ball in the hitch easier because the base won't rotate inside of the hitch like a round base might, so lining the pin up is a snap. The base of the ball also fits tightly within the ball hole during storage. Because only the corners of the base contact the sides of the socket, any dirt or grime that gets into the hitch will fall through the socket, thus helping to prevent any buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.

Simple, Custom Installation

This hitch is custom designed for your vehicle. The included mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.

Galvanic Corrosion Limiting Tape

Once you have the hitch brackets and body installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the hitch ball.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Accessories

B&W makes it easy to tow just about anything. With the many adapters and accessories available, the Turnoverball can be made to work with almost any gooseneck trailer. Hitch balls are available that have a built-in rise, an offset, and even a different connection type. Add on the Companion fifth-wheel hitch - which attaches directly to the Turnoverball with no other parts required - and you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer. Even a truck bed utility rack is available so that you can easily haul ladders and lumber with the load placed on the hitch (and therefore your truck's frame) instead of your bed rails.

Video Transcript for B and W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ford F-250

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with custom installation kit, that's gonna be part number BWGNRK1117. Here's what our B&W Gooseneck looks like once we have it installed and this is gonna allow us to tow a Gooseneck trailer safely and securely down the road. One of the biggest benefits to this kit is that when we're done towing our trailer we can actually unhook, remove the ball, turn it over, and we can store it upside down in the hitch that way we have full bed access. Now the way we're gonna be able to remove or put our ball in is if we come to the handle here on the drivers side, we're gonna pull it all the way out, and then push it towards the front and we'll lock it in place. Then we'll be able to remove the ball and once we have it in the position we want we can bring the handle back just the same and we'll lock it in.The safety chain loops are gonna be recessed down and they're spring loaded so when we lift them up we're gonna have plenty of room to even get those large, oversized hooks in place. Our hitch is gonna have a 7,500 pound vertical load limit along with a 30,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now with those numbers in mind you want to double check your truck's owners manual and make sure it can handle pulling that amount of weight.

B&W made the shank on the ball a square shape which is gonna reduce the chance of the ball turning inside the hitch and the ball is a standard two and 5-16ths inch ball. Our B&W Gooseneck is gonna have a lot of different options when it comes to accessories, you can simply remove the ball and any accessory you choose to use can just go into the receiver tube. Now as far as the installation goes it is designed to work with the existing holes in the frame so we're not gonna have to drill into the frame at all, we're just gonna have to drill the large hole to get the ball through and then four smaller holes for our safety chain points. That's gonna dramatically cut down on the installation time and the end result is gonna give us a nice, clean finished looking system. Now that we've gone over the features and seen what our Gooseneck looks like let's show you how to get it installed. First thing you're gonna want to do is you're gonna want to measure the bed and we're gonna mark the location where we're gonna be drilling our hole in our bed for our Gooseneck. You want to go ahead and double check those measurements and you're gonna measure from the tailgate up, make a mark, and then you're gonna find the center of the bed by measuring the wheel wells and the intersecting mark is where you're gonna make your pilot hole. Before you start drilling you want to make sure that there's nothing under the bed that may get damaged and when you start drilling you just want to have even pressure and go slow.

Now that we have our pilot hole drilled we can come back with a hole saw and drill that out to the final size. Now we're gonna have to drill a four inch hole in our bed so I have a four inch hole saw and I also have an old scrap piece of wood that I drilled several holes in and this is gonna help keep my drill steady so I'm not jumping around when I start to drill. Now the key when drilling with a hole saw through the bed is you want to go really light pressure with high speed and just let the hole saw do the work. I come back with our file I'm gonna file down the edges so they're not so sharp and it's never a good idea to leave exposed metal on your truck, I'm gonna take a little bit of clear spray paint and I'm gonna go around the edge hopefully preventing any kind of rust or corrosion from building up.If we come to the passengers side frame rail now we're gonna notice that we have two holes right in between where our axle is. If we look there's gonna be a welded bracket on the inside of the frame and most four by four trucks are gonna have that bracket, some two wheel drives will, but our kit is gonna come with that inner bracket but since ours are welded on we're not gonna use it. If you don't have a bracket there you're just gonna have to put the bracket on the inside. We can take our outer bracket and we're gonna know it's the passengers side because it's gonna have the B&W sticker on it and there's not gonna be instructions for operating the handle.

We're gonna lift our plate into position, we're gonna line it up with those two holes in the frame, and we're gonna take a five-eighths bolt with a flat washer on it and we're gonna go through our bracket all the way through the frame on both holes. We'll just let our bracket sit there for now, we're gonna move underneath to the inside of the frame so we can get the hardware to attach it.On the inside of the frame we're gonna take another five-eighths flat washer, follow it up by a five-eighths lock washer and then finally secure it down with a nut. Now we don't want to tighten these down all the way, we just want to make them nice and snug by hand that way the bracket's gonna be flush against the frame and we'll do that for both of our bolts and we'll do the same thing on the drivers side. Our drivers side bracket is gonna have the instructions for the handle so we'll know which one it is.We can get ready to install our cross member brackets now. Now this is gonna be the passenger rear bracket and the easiest way to find out which one it is is that this tab here with those two holes in it is always gonna be facing in and the ears are always gonna be facing each other so the rear one's gonna be facing forward but the front one is gonna be facing towards the back.

Now these two holes are gonna line up with our inner and outer brackets on our frame. We can lift it up, bring it over our exhaust, we're gonna go over the flange on the top of that inner frame bracket, and we're gonna slide it in until the holes line up on the bottom here on the inside and the outside bracket.Once our bracket's lined up we're gonna take out half inch bolts that have the thread locker applied and we're gonna go ahead and hand tighten those into position so the bracket will support itself. You don't want to run these down just yet, you want to get everything in nice and loose, we'll get both bolts in place. Now we can go ahead and repeat that for all the other remaining brackets, you just want to double check which one you have and make sure the holes line up properly. We can grab our front cross member and that's the thicker of the two bars and it's not gonna have threaded holes in it. You'll notice on each end we're gonna have some large holes and in the middle they're gonna be smaller. You want the two large holes to go towards the passengers side and then one large hole to go towards the drivers side. When we get it in place we're gonna go behind the drivers side bracket towards the back of the truck and we're gonna be in front of the passengers side bracket towards the cab. We're gonna take our long five-eighths bolts and we're gonna go through the very outer hole on our cross member bracket coming from the front, going towards the back of the truck. We're gonna push our bolt all the way through the cross member bracket and the cross member itself, take a little bit of patience because this is very limited space we're gonna have to reach above our gas tank and it'll help support our cross member. Now on the passengers side we're gonna have this washer plate, we're gonna have two large holes on one end and then some smaller ones going down. You want to put the two large ones on the very end where we're gonna put two more five-eighths bolts going through our washer plate and then our cross member and finally our cross member bracket. We're gonna line it up in the back of our cross member, lift it into position, and again coming from the front towards the cab we're gonna pass our bolts through and then our cross member will support itself. Now on the drivers side we're gonna take our washer plate, we're gonna slide it over the end of our bolt, followed by a lock washer, then finally a hex nut to secure it. On the passengers side we're gonna take a lock washer and a nut to secure everything, we're not gonna have that additional plate. Now our rear cross member is gonna be a solid piece with some threaded holes. Now on each end we're gonna have two five-eighths threaded holes, we're gonna take our rear cross member and just gonna line it up with our cross member brackets and coming from the front towards the cab we're gonna take a five-eighths bolt, lock washer, and a flat washer, we're gonna go through the cross member bracket and secure it to the cross member by threading it in. Now you just want to get these in there hand tight so that it won't fall down and we'll get one on each end so that we can get the rest of the hardware in place. We can grab our center section and you want to make sure that the latching mechanism here is facing towards the drivers side and the longer square piece below the hole is going to be going towards the back. We can lift it up, line up the four holes in our cross members, and then secure it down with the hardware. When we're attaching our center section to the rear cross member we're gonna take our half inch bolts with a lock washer and a flat washer and we're gonna thread it in to where it's gonna go through the center section and then into the cross member, we're gonna have a total of four bolts on the rear cross member. We're just gonna get all of these in hand tight so we don't have to worry about the hitch falling down. For our front cross member we're gonna come from the front side going towards the back of our truck, we're gonna take our long half inch bolts going to the washer, the front cross member, and then the center section. To secure it we're gonna take a half inch washer, followed by a lock washer, and secure it all down with a nut. We'll make sure to put that combination of hardware on the remaining bolts. With our hitch in place I'm gonna come back with a three-quarter inch socket and wrench and I'm gonna tighten up the hardware that's holding my center section to the cross members first.Next with a three-quarter inch socket also we're gonna come to the passengers side inside bracket that's attaching our frame bracket to our front cross member and we'll tighten up that bolt. Next we're gonna tighten that same bolt on the drivers side rear. Now with those bolts tight now you want to go ahead and check your center section above make sure that's it's centered in that hole that we drilled earlier, if it is we can go ahead and finish up tightening all the bolts underneath. I'm gonna come back with a three-quarter inch socket and I'm gonna tighten all my half inch hardware down to its specified amount in the instructions. We'll repeat that for all of our remaining hardware. With all of our bolts torqued down we can go ahead and put our handle assembly in. Now if we look right about our side plate here we're gonna have our bed stiffener and then our plate is gonna extend out just a little bit, we want to go right in between the plate and the bed stiffener. There's very little room so you're just gonna have to kind of work it in there a little bit and once you get passed the wheel well here you should have a little bite more room to move it around. We're gonna push it all the way in then we can go underneath and start attaching it.Here's our handle, it's gonna meet up with a latch mechanism on our hitch. Now the first thing we need to do is we need to pull this out and we're gonna push it towards the cab so that catch will catch and we can have enough room to get our bolts in place. We can line up our handle with the holes on the hitch and I just want to mention you want to be extremely careful when you're working because you don't want to get your hand in here and accidentally bump something and have the pin retract and get your hand stuck in there. Drop our carriage bolts through the handle and then through the latch mechanism then we're gonna take a flange nut and we're gonna loosely secure it then we can get the other one in place. Once we have these hand tight I'm gonna go ahead and release the latch back inside then we can tighten them back up. I'm gonna come back with a half inch socket and I'll tighten up the nuts.On either side of our center section we're gonna have two holes and that's where our safety chain loops are gonna come down. I'm gonna take a small drill bit and I'm gonna drill a pilot hole going up from the bottom of the bed to the top and we're gonna do that for all four hole locations. With my pilot holes drilled I'm gonna come back with a half inch drill bit and we'll enlarge the holes to that size. We'll repeat that for the other three remaining holes. Now I'm just gonna take a little bit of spray paint, cover up those holes, and we're gonna have two U-bolts in our kit, just gonna slide them down until they drop down through the bed.Now underneath where our U-bolts came out we're gonna take one of our springs, make sure you put the large side facing up towards the bed, and then we're gonna take a half inch nut and we'll thread it on by hand for now, we're gonna do that for each one of our U-bolts. I'm gonna take a three-quarter inch socket and tighten up my nuts at the bottom of the springs. Now when we tighten them up we just want to tighten them up to where they're flush with the bottom of the bolts. Just like that to where just the ends of the bottom bolt is coming out. We'll do that for the rest of them as well. Now finally you want to make sure that the latch is open or pulled all the way out, then we can drop our ball in place, lock it in, and we can hook up to our trailer. That'll finish up your look at the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with custom installation kit, part number BWGNRK1117 on our 2018 Ford F250.

Install this heavy-duty hitch on your vehicle so that you can securely tow your gooseneck trailer. Store the removable ball upside down in the hitch when you aren't towing to get complete bed access. Square ball base won't turn in hitch.

Easy to follow assembly instructions. Had a harder time getting the Ford/Reese gooseneck out. In my case it was a new 2017 F350 and I wanted to use my new companion fifth wheel hitch system. Product cost was more than the BW gooseneck I put on my F450. 420782

I use this hitch regularly. It works very well. I put the companion fifth wheel with this. I made a slit error the first time I used the companion and didn't get the lock pin in all the way. It caused the lock pin to bend ever so slightly. I straightened it and had to put some grease on the lock pin. now I have to have two people to flip the ball cause the lock pin will not stay locked in the open position while you flip the ball. Not the hitches fault but operator error. I think it will be fine if I remove the extra grease and bend the pin just a bit. Overall, I love the hitch. This is my 4th one of these. 463504

Excellent product, fits perfectly, after you get the parts in the correct place. Awesome ordering process, fast shipping, and customer support from etrailer. While installing, I had swapped the front driver brace with the rear passenger brace. Working with customer support, I figured out the error. Natalie with support was super friendly and working diligently with me. For etrailer feedback, the install video was done with a F-350. For the 2017 F-250 4x4, the fender well is in the way when installing the disconnect lever. I was able to pop the plastic fender well loose from one clip (off to the Ford house today to buy a new clip), and slide the lever in without cutting the fender well. For B&W feedback, the drawings were just confusing. Old guy's like me can't read the small print, and trying to understand the drawings were from the perspective of 'below the truck' just drove us crazy. B&W really needs to label ALL parts and screws. There were a few times we re-installed some bolts. Next step is to get the spray in bedliner applied. Can't wait to use the hitch! 470128

I received my hitch and was able to install it, with the help of a friend. It would be much easier with a lift, but it is certainly doable by lying on the ground. A mechanic's creeper will save you a lot of headache if you go that route. Everything that was needed was in the packaging, and although the instructions were a little tricky at times, everything went together nicely. I didn't have a 4" hole saw, and had to use a 4 1/8", so it doesn't look as nice as it could have...I highly recommend you go through the list of required tools, and make sure you have all of them, in good working order, before you start! I did not need to cut any notches in the bed lip, or drop the exhaust on my 17 F250, so that was an added bonus over what I'd read prior to purchase. Overall very satisfied with this purchase so far. 375154

1 year later and this hitch has performed flawlessly, hauling 3-4 horses and a large flatbed. Even the stickers still look new.

It works as intended and keeps the trailer attached to the truck. So 3 stars for that. But having to take half of the hitch back out of your truck to change the passenger side rear shocks just plain sucks. It turns a 15 minute shock replacement job into a 4 hour hitch remove/replace job by the time you loosen all of the bolts to get the rear bar lined back up with all 3 brackets. I expected better from B&W. 595301

Everything was and is as I had hoped, the hitch arrived when it was promised and after a year of moderate usage I have had no problems. I am a farmer we don’t have a trailer on it all the time but when we do it is usually heavy and over rough ground! 489899

B&W products are top notch. We installed the hitch in less than 4 hours. There was one issue we encountered when measuring to cut the 4 inch hole in the bed. Ford has marked the bed with a drill dimple. The dimple is a 1/4 off from the B&W installation instruction measurement. Follow the B&W measurement. 483678

I plan to use this with the andersen ultimate. The product is as described. Their video helped with the install. It was a fairly easy install right up to the point you have to torque everything down. Thank you B&W, Cathy T (super helpful and knowledgeable) and George ( got it out to me fast). I bought a new 2017 F250 without the Ford prep pack (in bed goose neck) and bought new 5th wheel which I was not able to pickup because no after market under bed goose neck was available yet. B&W came out with one in a couple weeks when I couldn't even get one from Ford. Just put it in today myself only because we're excited to get our 5er and I couldn't wait. Probably took me twice as long as a pro but looks good, fit no problem. Also got your in bed wire harness and worked perfect. Thanks again 312005

Review from a similar B and W Turnoverball in Gooseneck

Installed this hitch in my 2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins with absolutely no issues. Was very impressed with the detailed instructions. Used a friend of mine’s shop to do the work, it is definitely a two person job unless you have away to hold the hitch in place while you get the four bolts started. No specilized tools needed. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has a need for this type of hitch. Thank you George J and thank you etrailer for the grate product and price. 456487

Review from a similar B and W Turnoverball in Gooseneck

This unit was very handy to be able to purchase and install on my Bradford Built flatbed so that I could install my B&W companion hitch with flatbed base on the truck. The welding was all fairly straight forward and didn't require much except for a few washers and a piece of flat steel for a spacer. The one down side is that the hitch pin/handle does not have any built in twist-n-lock method to lock it so the pin remains disengaged for the ball or companion assembly install like on the common B&W under truck bed assemblies I've had on several trucks. We ended up installing the pin slightly out of line so that the tip of the pin would catch on the exterior of the receiver when pulled out and then when I wanted to engage the pin just push up on the handle and press the pin back in. I do like that I can still cover the hitch hole with the cover plate as seen in the picture. 453876

Comments

I still like the hitch and use it with my companion frequently but wish there was a twist and lock function like all the other B&W underbed hitches.

Very easy to install, used a support strap to support the center section as suggested during installation. All bolts and related hardware fit great. Would recommend that you have a 1/2" drive 3/4" swivel socket and 1/2"extensions to make installation easier. 558609

Installation was done by myself in 3/4 of a day. It works as it should and is nice having a true hideaway, YOU DO NOT have to lift the bed for this installation. Doing so would be much more difficult. Follow the instructional videos and directions for install and you will have zero issues. 515509

I needed a gooseneck hitch to haul cattle to market in my new 26ft. stock trailer. I installed the Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch in my 2012 Silverado 2500HD in a little over 3hrs by myself laying flat on the ground. If I'd had a lift, it would have been much easier. That installation instructions were dead on! Great looking hitch and adds value to my truck. 280892

As most B&W products are it fit perfect in my 16 Ram 2500 just wished I would have had an extra pair of hands cause it gets heavy installing by yourself. The template for the safety chain hooks was also a big plus not having to drill from the bottom of the truck. Will continue to buy from etrailer as I always get the fastest and cheapest around. 568806

Quality product. Install is relatively easy with the exception of the safety chain holes. It's pretty impossible to maneuver a drill from underneath with the exhaust pipe in the way. Before installing, I made a plywood template of the 4 inch hole and safety chain holes. I was then able to drill the holes from the bed. It made it easy. 364613

Works great, easy installation. Only suggestion to the installation, on a 2016 2500HD, don't cut the notch in the side of the bed, simply loosen the bolts on the side of the bed to the frame, lift the bed a couple inches and slide the rails in as needed. The area the instructions refer to notching the bed isn't enough to allow the rails to slide in. Otherwise I would give 4 stars. 405641

  • How to Tell if 2017 Ford F-250 has Factory Rail Kit/Factory Prep Package
  • The factory rail kit is also known as the factory prep package on your 2017 Ford F-250. The difference is that the prep package includes the 4 holes plus the gooseneck hitch ball hole in the center. You can see an example of this in the attached video. If you do not have the factory rail kit (or factory prep package) then you will not have the 5 holes in your truck bed. If you do have the factory rail kit then you can just purchase the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit # C60692...

  • B&W Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Ford F-250 without Factory Prep Package
  • If your 2017 Ford F-250 came with the factory 5th wheel and gooseneck prep package then there would be a total of 5 larger holes in the bed. Four of the holes forming a square around one in the center. That one in the center would be the gooseneck ball hole. You can also have a Ford dealer punch the truck VIN into their computer system and they can tell you how the truck is equipped. If it...
