With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance.

Easy-to-Remove, Simple-to-Store Hitch Ball

The durable steel hitch ball included with the Turnoverball system secures in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin that is incorporated into the end of the operating handle. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in the bed of your truck. Then rotate the handle in your driver's-side wheel well counterclockwise until the latch engages. When the latch is engaged, the spring-loaded pin on the end of the handle will be inserted all the way through the base of the hitch ball, forming a strong, solid connection and ensuring absolute security when you're towing.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Operation

When you're done towing, remove the hitch ball by simply pulling the handle out as far as it will go and then rotating it clockwise until it unlatches. Remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.

Unlike typical gooseneck balls - which have round bases - the Turnoverball hitch ball is designed with a square base. This makes latching the ball in the hitch easier because the base won't rotate inside of the hitch like a round base might, so lining the pin up is a snap. The base of the ball also fits tightly within the ball hole during storage. Because only the corners of the base contact the sides of the socket, any dirt or grime that gets into the hitch will fall through the socket, thus helping to prevent any buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.

Simple, Custom Installation

This hitch is custom designed for your vehicle. The included mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.

Galvanic Corrosion Limiting Tape

Once you have the hitch brackets and body installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the hitch ball.

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Accessories

B&W makes it easy to tow just about anything. With the many adapters and accessories available, the Turnoverball can be made to work with almost any gooseneck trailer. Hitch balls are available that have a built-in rise, an offset, and even a different connection type. Add on the Companion fifth-wheel hitch - which attaches directly to the Turnoverball with no other parts required - and you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer. Even a truck bed utility rack is available so that you can easily haul ladders and lumber with the load placed on the hitch (and therefore your truck's frame) instead of your bed rails.

Video Transcript for B and W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today we have our B&W hitch installed on our Ford F250. This is what it's going to look like. As you can tell, most of the main components are going to be underneath the truck here and that's going to give us full bed access up top.You can tell it doesn't really take up any room. And that's probably one of my favorite things about this hitch is that we're going to be able to use our entire bed. Now our ball at the base of it is going to have a square design.

That way when we drop it down into the hitch, that design is going to stop the ball from rotating inside. Now what's pretty cool too, is that when we're not using it, we can pull our ball out and actually flip it over and store it this way. As far as weight capacities go, this hitch is going to have a 30,000 pound gross towing weight. So that's going to be the amount of weight pulling on our hitch. It's also going to have a 7,500 pound vertical load limit. That's going to be the amount of weight pushing down.

Now it is always a good idea to check with your Ford's owners manual to make sure your truck can pull that much weight. Now the ball itself is a two and 5/16 inch ball. The hitch can be used with other accessories as well. They'll just drop right in to the hitch. Now for the safety chains, they're going to be U bolts that are spring loaded. That way when they're not in use, they'll stay nice and tight flush with the bed.

But when you do need them, they simply pull up and it's going to give you more than enough room here to use just about any size safety chain hook that you might have. This is going to be the handle to lock and release our ball. Now out of a lot of the goosenecks that I've had experience with, this handle is very easy to operate. To unlock it, you simply just pull back. Then it'll slide over towards the front of the truck and stay in place. Then you can put your ball in or take your ball out or even spin it around to store it.

When you're ready to lock it, simply just push it back over and let it in.Now I went ahead and removed our spare tire to give us more room to work. To begin our installation, we're going to need to mark our bed where we need to drill. Now you can find those measurements in your instructions. What you're going to do is measure from the end of the physical bed up and then you're going to measure from side to side and find the center of it. Now I went ahead and already found those measurements and marked it out. So now I'm going to use a drill bit to drill a pilot hole. When you're getting that measurement, make sure you're measuring from here at the end of the actual bed and not the tailgate. Now it's a good idea before you drill to check underneath and make sure you're not going to hit anything. Now with our pilot hole drilled, we can use a hole saw to cut out our big hole. Now when you use a hole saw, you want to use high speed and low pressure and let the blade do all the work for you. We'll go ahead and vacuum up all of our shavings, to make it a little nicer to work. It's a good idea to take a little spray paint and cover the bare metal here from the hole that we drilled, just to help protect it from the elements.I'm going to go ahead and take this shield off to give us some more room to work. There's going to be three nuts holding it on. One right here and then two more here and here just in the back. Now I'm going to go ahead and lower the exhaust, once again to give us some more room to work. Now it is a good idea to take a strap and put it from frame to the other side of the frame. That way when we lower the exhaust hanger, we can actually control how fast our exhaust system's going to come down. But to loosen it, there's going to be a bracket right here. There's going to be four 10 millimeter bolts just like this. Two on the inside of the frame and two on the outside, we're going to need to remove those. Now before we focus on installing our side plates to the frame, there's something I do want to point out. On the inside of our frame, most trucks primarily the four wheel drive models will have these brackets welded to the frame on each side. Now we're going to use these factory brackets in conjunction with our new kit. However, if your truck does not have these factory installed, you're going to have to refer to your instructions and install the brackets that come with our kit.Now starting on the passenger side, we can go ahead and put on our side plate. Now you're going to know it's a side plate because there won't be any instructions on how to operate our pull handle and the plate is just going to be a little bit smaller in size as well. Now these two holes are going to line up with these two holes in the frame rail. And we'll take our included bolt and flat washer and slide that all the way through. Now we're going to do that exact same thing over here on the driver's side. Now back underneath the truck, we can put on our hardware to secure our side plates to the frame. We're going to use a flat washer then a lock washer, finally a nut. Now we're just going to get all these on hand tight, just tight enough to hold the side plates in place while we put everything else together. Now the driver's side is going to use the exact same hardware. So once we have the passenger side done, we'll go ahead and repeat that process on the other side. Now before we put our cross member brackets into place, it's a good idea to prep them. What I mean by that is cleaning out the threads in the holes because when these get powder coated, sometimes that powder coat can get in there and make it really difficult to put our bolts in. So what I do is take one of the regular bolts that come with our kit, that'll fit in the holes. I like to spray them down with a little lubricant. And just put our bolt in and run it down, until it goes in nice and free. Now I recommend to do that same process for all the holes in all the brackets. Now we can put our cross member brackets into place. Now this is going to be the passenger side rear bracket. And a good way to tell which bracket is which, is that these ears on the bracket those are always going to face each other. So like I said this is the passenger rear. The passenger front, the tab will be pointing at this tab. And then on this end there'll be two holes. Those are always going to face the center towards the center of the truck. Now how these are going to work is we're going to slide them in place and these holes are going to line up with our factory bracket on the frame as well as the new side bracket that we put on. Just take it like this, on top of the bracketry. And slide it in until your hole lines up on the inside.Once our brackets holes line up, we're going to hold it in place using this bolt that comes with our kit. It's going to have a little bit of green thread locker on the threads. We're just going to put it in hand tight, one on each side. All right, now you're going to repeat that same process for all of the remaining brackets. Now we can install our front cross member. Now the front cross member is going to be a large square tube with multiple holes in it. Now there's going to be some bigger holes and some smaller ones. The larger holes are going to be on the ends of the cross member. And the side that has two large holes, that's going to be the passenger side. The side that has one large hole, that's going to be on the driver's side. How this is going to work, is we're going to set it in place up against our brackets. It's actually going to sit in front of . I'm sorry towards the rear of the truck on the driver's side like this. And then this side will actually sit in front of that portion of the bracket. It'll be easier to start over here first, just like that. We're going to start with our driver's side first. We're going to be working with the large hole, that'll be closest to the outside of the truck. So we're going to take a 5/8" bolt and hold that up here. We'll put the cross member against the bracket and then we can route our bolt through. Once we have the driver's side like that, what we're going to do is put on a rectangle washer, a lock washer, and finally a nut. We're just going to get that hand tight just to help keep that cross member in place while we work on the rest of the hardware. The passenger side is going to be a little bit different. For one, it's going to use two bolts to hold it in place and it's also going to use this washer plate, that's going to go on this side of the cross member or the side closest to the front of the truck. We'll have two of the larger holes on this side of the washer plate. And those are going to line up with the two larger holes on our cross tube. So what we're going to do is put this up against the cross tube. Once again, take a 5/8" bolt and run it through all of our bracketry. Once you have your bolts through the washer plate and the cross member, what you can do is take lock washers and a nut and just get both these bolts hand tight for now.And here's what the other side looks like for a little bit better of an idea. This is actually the side facing towards the front of the truck. Now we can install our rear cross member. That's going to be a solid piece of steel with some threaded holes in it. The larger holes on each end, those are actually going to connect to our brackets up here. Now the way to put this in place, we're actually going to put it behind our brackets and in between this bed support, like this. Now with the holes lined up, we can thread our bolt in. It's going to be a 5/8" bolt with a lock washer and a flat washer. We're going to thread it in this way from the front of the truck. You want to get one on each side started, that way the cross member will support itself while we work on the rest of the bolts. You need to just get them in hand tight. Now we can go ahead and put our center section in place. Now you always need to make sure that the side that has the handle is going to face the driver's side of the vehicle. The holes in our center section are going to line up with the holes in our cross beams. That's what's going to secure the center section. I like to start with the bolts toward the front first. What you're going to do is take your long 5/8" bolt like this and coming from towards the front of the vehicle. Slide it through everything. There'll be four of these total. And then to secure it, what we're going to do is put on a flat washer, a lock washer, and finally a nut. We're going to use that same combination for all these front bolts and just get them all hand tight. Now the holes on the back or the holes towards the rear of our center section, they're going to be a little bit different. They're actually going to thread right into our rear cross member. Now what we're going to use is these bolts with a split lock washer and a flat washer. Put that through the center section into the rear cross member. Once again, just get it hand tight. We're going to sue that same hardware and same technique with the rest of our holes. Now with all of our hardware in place and hand tight, we can tighten it down. Now we're going to tighten up our center section first. Starting with the bolts towards the front of the vehicle. So we'll take a 3/4 inch wrench and a 3/4 inch socket and snug them all down. Now we can tighten up the bolts in the center section towards the rear of the truck. Now we're going to want to tighten up one bolt on each side of our side frame brackets. On the passenger side, we're going to tighten up this one and this'll be the one closest to the front of the truck. On the driver's side, we're going to want to tighten up that same bolt. Just we want to do the one that's closest to the back of the truck. Now with those bolts tighten, you can hop up in the bed of your truck and make sure your hitch is lined up with the holes that we drilled. If it isn't lined up and you need to make an adjustment, loosen up all that hardware and slide your hitch either side to side or front to back, whichever way you need to go until you get it lined up. Then go ahead and run everything back down. Now that we've verified our hitch is centered with the hole and where we want it, we can tighten down the rest of the hardware. We're going to start with these bolts on the side and the front. We're going to be tightening them down with a 15/16" wrench and socket. Towards the rear of the truck, we're going to tighten these bolts down on each side that go onto our rear cross member. Now we can tighten up the two remaining inside bolts that have thread locker on them, one on each side. Now on the outside of the frame, here in the wheel well, we can tighten down our two bolts that have the thread locker on them. And finally all the bolts that are holding our side plates onto the frame, we can finally tighten all those down. Now in the same order that we tightened all the bolts down, we can use a torque wrench to torque them all down to specification. You can find that torque spec in your instructions. Now we can take our handle and put that in. Then we'll make sure the end that has the two holes and that actually bends downward, that's going in first. It's going to go in between the space in between our bed and our side plate here. So what I like to do is kind of get it going in and it'll be try to hit your wheel well. We can kind of turn it sideways a little bit and fish it in like that. Then we'll kind of center it up on our side plate and push it all the way forward. Here's our handle, we're going to hook it up to your hitch. But before we do that, we do want to pull this out. You'll see there's a slot right there. We're going to actually pull this out until it catches and stays out, just like that. Now we can hook our handle up to it. Just do that, it'll go over it. We'll line our square holes up. Then we will put in one of our carriage bolts and another one. Then on the bottom them, we're going to use a flange nut. Get them both started hand tight. Now I'm going to go ahead and tighten both of our flange nuts down. Now we can pull on our handle to release the catch and make sure everything is working smoothly. Now we can drill out our holes for our safety chain hooks. On each side of our plate, there's going to be two holes just like this. What we're going to do first is use a smaller drill bit to drill a pilot hole in the center of the opening. And then we'll come back and enlarge it after we do all four. Now we can use a half inch drill bit to fully enlarge our holes. Now back inside of the bed, I went ahead and vacuumed up all of our metal shavings. And once again, used some clear spray paint to spray into the holes that we just drilled, just to help protect that bare metal. Once you have that done, you can then take your U bolts and drop them in all the way down. Now back underneath the truck, we can take a spring and put it over our U bolt. You want to make sure the big end of the spring is facing up. We can take a nut and just get it on hand tight. We'll do that same process on the remaining bolts. With all of our springs and nuts place, we can go ahead and tighten down. Now the way these are going to work is we're going to tighten these nuts until they are flush with the bottom of the U bolt. Just like this. Now we can resecure our exhaust the same way that we loosened it. Once it's secure, we can then remove our safety strap. Now we can go ahead and put back on our heat shield. Now we can tighten it up. And finally with everything else complete, we can put our spare tire back into place.

Install this heavy-duty hitch on your vehicle so that you can securely tow your gooseneck trailer. Store the removable ball upside down in the hitch when you aren't towing to get complete bed access. Square ball base won't turn in hitch.

Easy to follow assembly instructions. Had a harder time getting the Ford/Reese gooseneck out. In my case it was a new 2017 F350 and I wanted to use my new companion fifth wheel hitch system. Product cost was more than the BW gooseneck I put on my F450. 420782

The hitch arrived quickly after placing the order. Order status was kept up to date information was accurate When the hitch arrived - I read the instructions and the install seemed very straight forward. 3.5 hrs later. The hitch was installed along with a wire harness. The instructions were accurate and all the parts fit as expected. Very impressed with the quality of the hitch and the service provided by e-trailer 545867

I use this hitch regularly. It works very well. I put the companion fifth wheel with this. I made a slit error the first time I used the companion and didn't get the lock pin in all the way. It caused the lock pin to bend ever so slightly. I straightened it and had to put some grease on the lock pin. now I have to have two people to flip the ball cause the lock pin will not stay locked in the open position while you flip the ball. Not the hitches fault but operator error. I think it will be fine if I remove the extra grease and bend the pin just a bit. Overall, I love the hitch. This is my 4th one of these. 463504

Excellent product, fits perfectly, after you get the parts in the correct place. Awesome ordering process, fast shipping, and customer support from etrailer. While installing, I had swapped the front driver brace with the rear passenger brace. Working with customer support, I figured out the error. Natalie with support was super friendly and working diligently with me. For etrailer feedback, the install video was done with a F-350. For the 2017 F-250 4x4, the fender well is in the way when installing the disconnect lever. I was able to pop the plastic fender well loose from one clip (off to the Ford house today to buy a new clip), and slide the lever in without cutting the fender well. For B&W feedback, the drawings were just confusing. Old guy's like me can't read the small print, and trying to understand the drawings were from the perspective of 'below the truck' just drove us crazy. B&W really needs to label ALL parts and screws. There were a few times we re-installed some bolts. Next step is to get the spray in bedliner applied. Can't wait to use the hitch! 470128

I received my hitch and was able to install it, with the help of a friend. It would be much easier with a lift, but it is certainly doable by lying on the ground. A mechanic's creeper will save you a lot of headache if you go that route. Everything that was needed was in the packaging, and although the instructions were a little tricky at times, everything went together nicely. I didn't have a 4" hole saw, and had to use a 4 1/8", so it doesn't look as nice as it could have...I highly recommend you go through the list of required tools, and make sure you have all of them, in good working order, before you start! I did not need to cut any notches in the bed lip, or drop the exhaust on my 17 F250, so that was an added bonus over what I'd read prior to purchase. Overall very satisfied with this purchase so far. 375154

1 year later and this hitch has performed flawlessly, hauling 3-4 horses and a large flatbed. Even the stickers still look new.

It works as intended and keeps the trailer attached to the truck. So 3 stars for that. But having to take half of the hitch back out of your truck to change the passenger side rear shocks just plain sucks. It turns a 15 minute shock replacement job into a 4 hour hitch remove/replace job by the time you loosen all of the bolts to get the rear bar lined back up with all 3 brackets. I expected better from B&W. 595301

Everything was and is as I had hoped, the hitch arrived when it was promised and after a year of moderate usage I have had no problems. I am a farmer we don’t have a trailer on it all the time but when we do it is usually heavy and over rough ground! 489899

B&W products are top notch. We installed the hitch in less than 4 hours. There was one issue we encountered when measuring to cut the 4 inch hole in the bed. Ford has marked the bed with a drill dimple. The dimple is a 1/4 off from the B&W installation instruction measurement. Follow the B&W measurement. 483678

I plan to use this with the andersen ultimate. The product is as described. Their video helped with the install. It was a fairly easy install right up to the point you have to torque everything down. I would probably pay the to install next time. etrailer is amazing with all the info and unmatched customer service. I truly have not experienced customer service this good! Way to run a top notch business! 454379

Great product, works great. Installed by myself and took most of the day due to crawling under and out from under the truck, lift for vehicle would have been easier. Leaves the bed completely flat for sliding plywood in. 389700

2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Thank you B&W, Cathy T (super helpful and knowledgeable) and George ( got it out to me fast). I bought a new 2017 F250 without the Ford prep pack (in bed goose neck) and bought new 5th wheel which I was not able to pickup because no after market under bed goose neck was available yet. B&W came out with one in a couple weeks when I couldn't even get one from Ford. Just put it in today myself only because we're excited to get our 5er and I couldn't wait. Probably took me twice as long as a pro but looks good, fit no problem. Also got your in bed wire harness and worked perfect. Thanks again 312005

Review from a similar B and W Turnoverball in Gooseneck

Was a fairly easy install in both a Ram Mega Cab 3500 and a Ford F-350. Cutting the hole in the bed was the most intimidating part, but as long as you measure just as the directions tell you, it turns out seamless. This is the only way to go if you need a gooseneck hitch! 598954

Quality product. Install is relatively easy with the exception of the safety chain holes. It's pretty impossible to maneuver a drill from underneath with the exhaust pipe in the way. Before installing, I made a plywood template of the 4 inch hole and safety chain holes. I was then able to drill the holes from the bed. It made it easy. 364613

Review from a similar B and W Turnoverball in Gooseneck

The E-trailer videos and instuctions are great! I would suggest going ahead and removing the spare tire heat shield to make life easier with the torque wrench and when drilling the safety chain holes. The other item I am glad I caught before installing my hitch is the size of the hole they want you to use. B&W suggest a 3-1/2" hole and provide a plastic spacer to kinda hide the gap, I didn't like the idea of how this was going to look. I still installed the plastic spacer to support the bed around the hole, but I used a 3-1/4" hole saw and very lightly filed the edges for a much better fit. (Just make sure you hit your pilot hole location.) Test fit the hitch from the top side when checking the hole size. When installing, tighten the bolts to where the hitch just starts to make contact with the frame and then go top side and check hitch/hole alignment. Tap the hitch around with a mallet if you need to line it up with the hole. (Once the hitch was tight it didn't protrude through the bed anyways, so the hole could have been small and still worked). After removing the exhaust hanger, I used a ratchet strap to pull the tail pipe towards the spring to allow access to drill the passenger side safety hook holes. Another tip, I used a piece of rope tied to the ball retaining pin and fed it up through the hole in the bed. My 11 year old son was able to hold it in place this way while I started the bolts. I am happy with the end results and it looks great! The one thing I feel could be better is how far the ball retaining pin protrudes into the second side of the hitch housing, on mine I only have about 1/4" into the second side. I would feel better with 3/8"-1/2" engagement. 302603

Ordered this 1313 for my 2004 Dodge 3500, converting from 5th wheel to gooseneck, but the trailer I ordered had a "reservation deadline" i.e. don't pick it up by this date and we sell it someone else...) so I needed the hitch right away, it arrived two days before expected and now I am ahead of schedule. Your online installation pictures and videos are excellent and helped me make my buying decision. Why buy from [other online retailer] when you can get it all here at etrailer with great support and fast service? Not to mention etrailer has everything I needed to make this gooseneck conversion happen. And ... The MOST important thing is everything I bought today is made in the USA! 494692

This is the 3rd vehicle that I have put this hitch in and have 0 complaints. Installation is pretty straight forward and the instructions are easy to follow. If you take a bolt and clean the paint out of holes in the front cross member it will make your life a lot easier when you install. Great service from etrailer amd a great product. Only complaint is that the video for my truck, 2001 dodge 2500, on etrailers website is for a lot newer truck and did not apply to my vehicle at all. 317595

Installed this hitch in my 2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins with absolutely no issues. Was very impressed with the detailed instructions. Used a friend of mine’s shop to do the work, it is definitely a two person job unless you have away to hold the hitch in place while you get the four bolts started. No specilized tools needed. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has a need for this type of hitch. Thank you George J and thank you etrailer for the grate product and price. 456487

As most B&W products are it fit perfect in my 16 Ram 2500 just wished I would have had an extra pair of hands cause it gets heavy installing by yourself. The template for the safety chain hooks was also a big plus not having to drill from the bottom of the truck. Will continue to buy from etrailer as I always get the fastest and cheapest around. 568806

  • How to Tell if 2017 Ford F-250 has Factory Rail Kit/Factory Prep Package
  • The factory rail kit is also known as the factory prep package on your 2017 Ford F-250. The difference is that the prep package includes the 4 holes plus the gooseneck hitch ball hole in the center. You can see an example of this in the attached video. If you do not have the factory rail kit (or factory prep package) then you will not have the 5 holes in your truck bed.
