Just received my gooseneck plate today. Shipment was on time, and complete. It is extremely cold in michigan today, but went ahead and dropped it in my already mounted rails. It fit real nice. I'll put it to work next week.

It went right in like it belonged there. My husband & I installed the hitch in 10 minutes...no tools except for a hammer to "convince" it into place. I installed this in a 2001 F-250. Planning a test run later today...I will update if I discover any major flaws. But I do not expect any trouble. Great service and my compliments to "George J"!!!!

quick ship and accurate description. Looking forward to installing and trying it.

I use this hitch with a set of Reese above the bed rails for towing gooseneck trailers, mostly a small livestock trailer. One of the features I really like is that the ball is not centered front to back in the plate. This allows me to turn the plate around when the "neck" of the goose is shorter than makes me comfortable to give myself a few extra inches of clearance. Usually I have it turned so the ball is as far foward as possible as it gives the best weight distribution on to the truck. Very good product, I highly recommend it.

Extremely fast shipping and service, considering it’s the holiday season. I really appreciate it

Purchased a used dually with bed rails already installed. Rather than remove them and go to a turn-over GN hitch, I tried this product. I am very satisfied with the end results. I pull a 30'+ horse trailer with living quarters. The hitch is very strong. I did have to makes some minor adjustments with a grinder to get it to go smoothly into my existing rails - took all of 10 minutes to complete.

- 49080
by:

Had to do a lot of grinding on this to make it fit my Reese rails. I have a Reese 5th wheel hitch that fits the rails ok. When I first looked at my pickup it had a Reese gooseneck hitch in it. The person I bought the pickup from kept it so I know that the rails were ok. The jig they use to build these must be off some.

- 49080
by:

I wish I had pictures but I know that there is one that is already posted on here that speaks a 1000 words when I came looking for this hitch. It fit beautifully in the rails I had installed for a 5th-wheel hitch and was almost as easy to install as described. My rails were installed for the 5th wheel that has a bit more wiggle room for fitting. This hitch doesn't, so we had to lossen up one rail so that we could get it to slip in as it should and tightened it all back down. Used it to pull a fully loaded 4 horse trailer a couple of weekend ago and it worked beautifully. I would recommend to a friend, I would buy it again if I needed it and I think it was a great value for the price... :)

I am very happy with this product. The price was good, it arrived a day early and it fit perfectly on my existing 5th wheel rails. It took about 2 minutes to set in place, install the locking pins and I was ready to go. I am a repeat customer and highly recommend etrailer.

Great product at the best price I could find on line! Now I have both hitch set ups to use on my bed rails. Fit was no problem and comes with the four pins/clips and extra bolts if you don't already have them installed on your bed rails.

I've got a short bed so the ball swung to one end helps just that little extra. Fit great, easy installation. Customer service made the difference for me though. These products are all going to work, no matter who you get them from. Customer service helped me pick the least expensive shipping to get it to my house on time (and it made it just on time).

Comments
I was worried at first that the hitch wouldnt come out easily, but it can be switched out very very quickly. After a year Im still quite happy and would recommend this to anyone interested. Thanks again!

Very pleased with this product if you make the time to drill your holes right on your rails then this assembly comes on and off very easily to utilize your truck bed. We have many miles on this hitch with our 36 foot living quarters horse trailer

Comments
Well yes it has been a year and I have had no issues with this product there is no rust and I have left it in the bed of my truck through two snowy winters I am very pleased with the flexibility that this product provides to switch between a gooseneck and a fifth wheel

The product was exactly as described and shipped. Fits my Reese rails like it was a package deal. I have installed the Gooseneck plate but I have not had the chance to use it due to the ice storm currently in progress. I can't wait for the weather to clear and the unit to be put into use. Great company...great price...great doing business with eTrailer!!

My Gooseneck plate works perfect and fits my existing rails like a glove. I now carry both my Gooseneck and Reese 5th wheel mounts and swap them out in minutes.

The specs were not quite right to fit the rails I have in place for my Trail Boss 5th wheel hitch. So I had to make some adjustments. The design itself is superior. It is just that fit to my system that is an issue.

Comments
We have continued to use the hitch without a problem. I am able to use either the gooseneck hitch, which I leave in place all the time, or mount the 5th-wheel hitch over it to use with my camper. It is a most reasonable system.

  • Gooseneck Hitch for Flatbed 1985 Ford F-250 Truck
You can definitely add a gooseneck hitch to your 1985 Ford F-250 flatbed truck, it will simply require a gooseneck designed for that purpose. The hitch you will need is the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Flatbed Trucks # BWGNRK1500. This hitch should be about flush with the bed, as you can see by the accompanying photo that a customer sent in of the hitch installed on their flatbed. The hitch does need to be welded to the bed so it is possible you may not need to...

Good truck choice! A 6-3/4 foot bed should work just fine for a gooseneck, but for a fifth wheel, you won't have enough clearance between the trailer loft and the rear of the cab. During turns, you could possibly have the trailer corner collide with the rear of the cab. Which would be bad. Since you don't have the truck yet, I'd go with an 8 foot bed so you can avoid clearance issues all together. There are two ways you can gain enough clearance. First, you can use a sliding fifth wheel...
