Speaker 1: Today you're gonna be taking a look at the Draw-Tite Remove-A-Ball line of Gooseneck trailer hitches. Our Gooseneck trailer is gonna allow us to tow a Gooseneck trailer, so we can safely and securely get down the road. It is gonna be an above the bed design, so a hitch head is gonna sit on top of the bed, but it is gonna have a nice low profile. The ball itself is gonna be a two and 5/16th inch ball, and it is gonna be heat treated and zinc coated, so we know it's gonna last a long time. And whenever we're not towing, we can simply come to the lever, we'll flip it up and then we'll pull it away from the ball, then we can pull it out and we'll have full bed access, so we don't have to worry about the ball interfering. To keep all the dirt, debris and grime out of the hole, we have this magnetic cover that'll cover it up and it'll stick right to the hitch head. Now, the ball itself is gonna have a round sleeve design, so whenever we put it in place, it'll have this spring loaded locking pin, just push it in, hold the lever down so it won't snag on anything.
So it'll take out some of that shake and play in the ball, it'll be nice and secure and it'll have less play than some of the square shank designs. Our Gooseneck's also gonna have built in spring loaded safety chain hooks. So we lift up, attach our hooks and it'll keep them in place. And whenever we're not using them, they'll recess down into the bed, so it's not taking up too much space.A nice feature Draw-Tite has added in is they put this small hole here, so we can put a padlock to prevent the lever from coming all the way back and prevent anybody from stealing the ball. And all the brackets and components are gonna have a black powder coat finish, so not only is gonna look good, but it's gonna prevent any kind of rust or corrosion from happening.
Our hitch head is gonna feature a 30,000 gross trailer weight rating, along with a 7,500 pound vertical load limit, which is gonna be more than most trucks are rated for. However, you do want to double check your truck's owners manual and never exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight, as well as check the insulation kit and your trailer, and go with the lowest rating out of all of them. Now, the insulation kit is gonna be specific to truck, so you want to see each trailer's fit guide for your application. Now, the insulation kit is gonna come with the frame brackets, as well as the rails that our hitch head is gonna attach to. And the nice thing about our insulation kit is, is that we're not gonna have to drill into the frame. It's gonna use existing holes, which is gonna cut down on a lot of time when it comes to the install.
When you're looking at a Gooseneck trailer hitch, there are gonna be a lot of different options. Now, two of the biggest things you're gonna be looking at is if it's gonna be an above the bed design or an under bed design. Now, the above bed design is like what we have here. Everything's gonna be really easy to access and we're gonna have our hitch head sitting on top of the bed. Whereas the under bed design, everything is gonna be underneath except for your hitch ball and your safety chain connections coming up.
Now, the benefits of the under bed design is that it is gonna look a little bit nicer because all we're gonna have is the ball and a small hole and our safety chains, whereas with the above bed design you can see we have this large plate. Now, the benefit to the above bed design is that it is gonna be a little bit easier to install, only because we're not gonna have to worry about lifting the entire hitch head up from underneath and then getting a bolt in to hold it and support everything. So the above bed design is gonna be a little bit more straightforward and less straining on our back. Tyler wrote in saying that a year later it's still working great, and he's hauled many 25,000 pound plus loads and it's still sturdy. That'll finish up your look at the Draw-Tite Remove-A-Ball line of Gooseneck trailer hitches.
