Video Transcript for Review of Onan Cummins Generators - No Inverter - CM72ZR

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Cummins Onan quiet series onboard RV generator. 5,500 watts of power runs on propane and it is carb compliance. So folks, this should be a direct replacement, installing right in place of your old Onan, and you shouldn't have to have any kind of adapters or any kind of additional power interchanges or anything as long as you're replacing the same thing for the same thing. Now you wanna make sure it fits the dimensions, and also that the wattage and everything is going to at least meet, if not exceed all your power needs for your RV camper, trailer, whatnot. Now this does give you an extra quiet operation.

It has built-in soundproofing and underneath here it has an enclosed muffler, which is gonna mean quieter days and quieter nights. It has a national park search requirement that it meets of a max of 60 decibels at 50 foot, and it also uses a spark arrester muffler. So this has been safe and tested for National Force and Campground. So no nods are needed, nothing like that. It's gonna to be purchased separately to get you into compliance.

You're already there. So again, carb certified right on the sticker. Open the access panel, you just simply give it a nice little tug that's gonna remove the access panel. You can see some of that soundproofing here. It's not only on the lid, but it's underneath this whole case pretty much around the whole thing.

And then of course, from here you could do your oil, your start and stop and your fuse or your breakers right there. And of course your main hookups, power, and ground. And your wires that are on the side there, those are your power wires to give you power to your things. You do have a main harness hookup, that should match up with the harness on your RV or camper. All of that gets routed outta grommet out of the side of the case right here.

But I've just left it off there for now. I'm gonna go ahead and move the case here. I went ahead. It's just four small bolts that take it off, that way we can get a better look at the inside. So let's pop this off. Excuse me. So again, you have your power wires coming out the side and you have your main connector here to plug into. That way you can do your remote starts and everything. And of course your power ground, and then your hookups here as far as your breakers and your on off switch. And then of course, we already talked about the muffler. The mounting tray, if you can kind of see it's got springs and stuff all throughout it. That's gonna be what we call a four point vibration isolation system. So that's gonna keep everything from being too noisy and from wiggling too much and causing damage or anything. So it's a nice case that it comes in as far as the base. And then you have four bolts included to help hold that down. Your gas hookup is down here on the side. I apologize, you can't see it from this view. It's just too heavy to to turn to show you. But everything here has been built for the long haul. You're gonna get long lasting power. It's gonna be great for replacing that well-traveled original Onan. Now, as far as protections and everything, you don't have to worry about everything. It's got built in shutoffs for low oil overloads, engine issues. It'll automatically shut itself down preserving itself. And as far as maintenance, you should be able to do it yourself. I'm very confident in that. It's as simple as changing the oil and swapping out the fuel filter, maybe those kind of things. And it's just a couple of basic tools. You don't have to be a mechanic, you don't have to be an expert at these things to do that basic stuff yourself. Now, if you don't wanna mess with installing this, you can check our dealer locator tool on our homepage etrailer.com for more information on how to select someone in your area to help you with the install. That's gonna wrap it up for our look together. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
